Akwa Ibom Poly Architectural Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The cut off mark for Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly is 100 in the UTME, the JAMB polytechnic minimum the school also used for 2026/2027; there is no separate departmental figure. Includes my safe target score, the subject combination, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Akwa Ibom Poly Architectural Technology cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua has no separate Architectural Technology figure. Its 2026/2027 ND cut-off was “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME, which matches JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics.

2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

You can choose Architectural Technology because JAMB lists it for Akwa Ibom Poly. The school’s 2024/2025 course list included it too; the 2026/2027 notice reprint stops before that part of the list. This page covers the Architectural Technology subject combination, O’level rules and screening, with my own safe target score and a worked example.

Compare the two school figures: 120 for 2024/2025 according to blogs, then “100 and above” in the 2026/2027 notice, matching JAMB’s national minimum. A separate Architectural Technology cut-off has never been published, so a quoted one is a guess.

Safe target score for Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)

I put this table together as someone who advises applicants. Akwa Ibom Poly has no such rule for Architectural Technology, and it does not publish merit lists with scores.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible, but borderline
120 to 139Fair to good chance
140 to 159Good chance; 140 is the score I would aim for
160 and aboveStrong

My target for the 2027 UTME would be 140 or more, plus clean credits in Mathematics, Physics and English Language. A score of 100 only gets you into screening. The margin above it helps when the Architectural Technology department has more applicants than places.

Catchment and state of origin

Candidates from outside Akwa Ibom are admitted at Akwa Ibom Poly, even though the Akwa Ibom State Government owns it. State polytechnics often favour indigenes somehow, but there is no published catchment list or quota for 2026/2027. I would not count on, or worry about, state of origin when applying for Architectural Technology unless the notice mentions it.

Akwa Ibom Poly Architectural Technology subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Architectural Technology
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing
O’levelFive credits in Mathematics, Physics and English Language plus any two of Biology, Fine Art, Chemistry, History, Geography, Further Mathematics, Economics/Commerce, Religious Knowledge, Technical Drawing and Business Method; a pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing is an advantage
English LanguageEnglish Language is one of the core credits
Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom PolyThe brochure has a UTME remark for AKPOLY, the short form it appears to use for Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic: it accepts Mathematics, Physics and either Economics or Geography. See below.
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice)
SittingsNot stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings

What I would register for the UTME: English, Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing (or Chemistry). Our JAMB Geography syllabus will help you plan your revision.

The brochure has a UTME remark for AKPOLY, the short form it appears to use for Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic: it accepts Mathematics, Physics and either Economics or Geography. That gives you a route if you did not take Chemistry or Technical Drawing.

For Architectural Technology you need five O’level credits. Build them around Mathematics, Physics and English Language, and use any free slot for a subject that helps the course. The result you upload to JAMB CAPS should be the same one you present at screening, so the school and JAMB see identical grades.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND, and ND Architectural Technology admission runs through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. Once you have the ND and a one-year industrial attachment, the HND application goes directly to the polytechnic, not through CAPS. Read our guide to Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements for the details.

How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works

Myschool’s reprints are my source here, because I could not open the polytechnic’s own website. They show Akwa Ibom Poly publishing its 2026/2027 ND cut-off and screening fee in June 2026, then screening ND and HND applicants in September.

Screening fee₦2,000Official
Screening datesWednesday 9 to Friday 11 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. each dayOfficial; these dates have passed

2024/2025 (for comparison)A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing dateUnofficial

What the 2026 notice described was a document check at department level, without any mention of a written or computer test. My reading of how such screening usually works is that the UTME score and the quality of the O’level result separate candidates, and for Architectural Technology I would make sure the Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits are clean. The school has not published its ranking method.

Worked example for an ND Architectural Technology applicant

Take Edidiong, who scored 143 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Technical Drawing, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Technical Drawing and Geography from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 143 minus 100 = 43. Edidiong is above the school minimum.
  2. Against my safe target: 143 minus 140 = 3. That is inside the range I would aim for.
  3. O’level check: all five credits come from one sitting and cover the core subjects for Architectural Technology, so nothing needs fixing there.
  4. CAPS check: the same O’level result must be uploaded to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.

Suppose another Architectural Technology applicant scored 110 and has the same O’level grades. With documents equally good, the higher UTME score is usually ahead, so Edidiong at 143 would sit above them. This is illustrative only; the school has not said how it ranks applicants after screening.

Your chances of getting Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly

  • Architectural Technology attracts steady interest from science candidates who like drawing.
  • A score in the 140s with credits in Mathematics, Physics and English is a good position.
  • If CAPS offers you Building Technology or Quantity Surveying instead, both work on the same projects.
  • According to blogs, Akwa Ibom Poly released its 2025/2026 ND lists in several batches, so a name missing from the first list was not a rejection.
  • JAMB gave polytechnics until 31 December 2026 to finish 2026/2027 admissions, so an Architectural Technology offer can arrive late in the year.

How to apply for Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step

  1. Create your JAMB profile: text NIN, a space and the 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line your NIN is linked to.
  2. Register the right combination: choose Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Architectural Technology under JAMB’s own course name, using the subjects shown above.
  3. Sort out your choices: if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, complete a JAMB change of institution before screening. Coming from another course? See JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB accredited centre and upload the result with your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits. JAMB cannot approve an offer while CAPS shows no O’level result.
  5. Register for screening: watch akwaibompoly.edu.ng for the notice. Follow the application link in it, pay the screening fee, which was ₦2,000 in 2026, fill the form and print the slip.
  6. Attend departmental screening: the 2026 exercise had candidates reporting to their departments from 9:00 a.m. with their documents. Bring your slip, UTME result slip and WAEC or NECO statement of result; for Architectural Technology, it should show your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits.
  7. Accept the admission on CAPS: sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept it. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
  8. Pay acceptance, then clear: the acceptance fee has not been published in any source I reached. Generate an invoice on the school portal and pay only through it, then clear with your printed JAMB admission letter.

Warning

A genuine Architectural Technology offer from Akwa Ibom Poly shows up on your CAPS page, because admission comes through JAMB CAPS. Genuine school payments go through a portal invoice generated in your name. Walk away from anyone who offers a “special list” slot or a course change for money.

Studying Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly

ND Architectural Technology sits in the School of Environmental Studies at Ikot Osurua, near Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State, off the Aba road. It trains technicians who draw, model and detail building designs and help architects produce working drawings.

What you study

These are the usual topics in the NBTE ND curriculum for Architectural Technology. The department has not published its own course list online.

  • Architectural drawing and graphics
  • Building construction and materials
  • Design studio projects
  • History of architecture
  • Computer-aided design (CAD)
  • Surveying basics, mathematics and general studies

Duration and accreditation

ND Architectural Technology follows the standard NBTE structure: two years full time, with a short SIWES attachment inside it. For the HND you then need the one-year industrial attachment and usually an ND at Lower Credit or above. Akwa Ibom Poly has not published a course-specific timetable, so plan with the national pattern.

I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Architectural Technology. What I could confirm is that Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is in the NBTE directory as a state polytechnic established in 1991. Before you pay fees, ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes.

Careers after the ND

  • Architectural technician or draughtsperson in design firms
  • CAD operator
  • Site assistant on building projects
  • Technical officer in town planning and works departments
  • HND Architectural Technology, then a degree path towards becoming an architect

Mistakes that cost Architectural Technology applicants

  • No Physics credit: it is one of the core O’level subjects.
  • Ignoring drawing: a pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing is listed as an advantage.
  • Expecting to be called an architect after the ND: that title needs a degree and registration.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
  • Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.

Akwa Ibom Poly Architectural Technology: frequently asked questions

What are the JAMB subjects for Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly? English, Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing.

Is Technical Drawing compulsory for Architectural Technology? No, but a pass in Fine Art or Technical Drawing is listed as an advantage, and TD is one of the UTME options.

When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? The 2026/2027 ND and HND screening ran from 9 to 11 September 2026 and is now over. Watch for the 2027/2028 dates; they have not been announced yet.

Is 125 enough for Architectural Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly? It is enough to apply, since the minimum is 100. To feel safe in Architectural Technology I would want 140 or more, so at 125 your O’level result needs to be strong.

Sources and updates

JAMB’s 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 closing date for admissions are from the News Agency of Nigeria report on JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, dated 11 May 2026. The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025) and matching Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The location and founding date were taken from the NBTE directory and Wikipedia. The older figure of 120 (2024/2025) comes only from an allschool blog post, so it is unofficial. The school’s cut-off of “100 and above” and its screening fee of ₦2,000 come from the school’s 2026/2027 notice reprinted by Myschool on 27 June 2026. The 9 to 11 September 2026 screening details are from Myschool (25 August 2026). Whether Architectural Technology is on JAMB’s list comes from the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Architectural Technology brochure page) gives the UTME subjects and O’level requirements. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Last checked 3 November 2026. This page will be updated once Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
