Heritage Poly Eket Statistics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

The Heritage Poly Statistics cut off mark is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100; no departmental figure is published. See the safe target, subject combination, O’level, screening and CAPS steps for 2027/2028.

The Heritage Poly Statistics cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, the national minimum JAMB set for polytechnics for 2026/2027. Heritage Polytechnic, Ikot Udota, Eket, a private polytechnic in Akwa Ibom State, has not published a departmental cut-off for Statistics in any year I could trace. The course appears on JAMB’s list for the school as “Statistics”, so ND admission runs through the UTME and JAMB CAPS.

2027/2028 update: Heritage Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Heritage Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

NBTE’s 2020 Directory lists it as a private polytechnic (serial number 63) at Ikot Udota, P.O. Box 1029, Eket, approved in 2010. Wikipedia says it began in 1996 as the Christian Continuing Education Centre, founded by Emmanuel J. Ekott, and became a polytechnic in 2010. Wikipedia gives the website as heritagepoly.edu.ng, but I could not open it, and I found no official 2026/2027 admission notice, fee list or screening timetable. So this page sticks to what JAMB and NBTE publish, gives you my safe target score, and tells you what to ask the school.

JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two sessions running. A polytechnic may set a higher mark of its own, but Heritage Poly has never announced one that I could find, and it does not publish merit lists with scores. So 100 is the legal minimum, and anything above it improves your position.

Safe target score for Statistics (my advice)

These bands are my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on how small private polytechnic courses tend to fill. Statistics is usually one of the less crowded science courses.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Statistics at Heritage Poly
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course this session
100 to 119Eligible; your O’level and screening decide the rest
120 to 144Good chance
145 and aboveVery strong for this course

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 120 or more. If you land between 100 and that figure, still apply: at a small private polytechnic your O’level grades, your subject combination and the screening will carry a lot of weight.

Statistics subject combination and O’level requirements at Heritage Poly

Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate. The Statistics page on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure loaded empty when I checked, as it has for other researchers, so I cannot quote JAMB’s line or say whether Heritage Poly has a remark. The pattern below is from official polytechnic sources elsewhere, labelled as such.

RequirementWhat it saysSource
UTME subjects (base rule)Use of English, plus Mathematics and two related subjects (the brochure page did not load; see the note below)Comparator pattern; confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure
O’level (base rule)Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, at least one science and two others (Federal Polytechnic Offa pattern; the JAMB page did not load)Federal Polytechnic Offa pattern
My recommended UTME setEnglish, Mathematics, Economics and PhysicsMy advice

My recommendation is English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics. Federal Polytechnic Offa’s Statistics department accepts Mathematics plus any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Commerce, Geography, Computer Studies, Government and Biology or Agricultural Science. Federal Polytechnic Nekede accepts Mathematics plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography. Economics and Physics sit on both lists.

For a guide, Federal Polytechnic Offa’s Statistics department asks for Mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Commerce, Geography, Computer Studies, Government and Biology or Agricultural Science, with O’level credits in English, Mathematics, at least one science and two more. Federal Polytechnic Nekede uses Mathematics plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography. Neither list includes Further Mathematics as a UTME subject.

O’level: Plan for five credits in no more than two sittings; the school has published nothing on sittings, and two is the usual polytechnic limit. Awaiting-result candidates can sit the UTME, but CAPS cannot offer you admission until your result is uploaded, so have it on the portal before the school’s list is processed.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND, and JAMB’s brochure leaves the Direct Entry section blank for this course. Blogs report a Heritage Poly HND admission list for 2026/2027, which suggests HND programmes run, but I have not seen the school’s own HND list. Under the standard NBTE rule, an HND needs an ND (usually Lower Credit or better) plus a year of industrial attachment, and you apply to the polytechnic directly, outside CAPS.

How admission screening works at Heritage Poly

Ranking formulaNot publishedUnknown

Small Nigerian polytechnics usually sell a form, check documents and sometimes run a short written test or interview. Heritage Poly has not said which it does. Ask the office these questions before you pay anything:

  • Is Statistics admitting new ND students for 2027/2028, and does the programme have NBTE accreditation?
  • How much is the form, where do I pay, and when do sales close?
  • Is there a written test or interview, and on which subjects?
  • What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?

Worked example for an ND Statistics applicant (illustrative)

Take Idongesit, who wants Statistics at Heritage Poly. Idongesit scored 124 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Physics and Further Mathematics from one sitting.

  1. JAMB minimum: 124 minus 100 = 24. Idongesit is eligible.
  2. My safe target: 124 against 120 is 4 above it.
  3. UTME subjects: they match the line in the table above.
  4. O’level: five credits that cover the compulsory subjects for Statistics.

If Heritage Poly used a 50:50 ranking, 124 divided by 8 gives 15.5 out of 50, and a screening score of 30 out of 50 would bring the total to 45.5. That formula is only an illustration of how such rankings work. Heritage Poly has not published one, and many small polytechnics simply admit everyone who qualifies.

Your chances of getting Statistics at Heritage Poly

  • If you meet the subject rules and score 100 or more, your biggest risk is that the course may not be running this year. Confirm that first.
  • Statistics is usually one of the less crowded science courses, so a score near my target of 120 gives you room if the department has more applicants than places.
  • Candidates from Eket, Esit Eket, Onna, Ibeno, Mkpat Enin and Oron save on transport and rent by studying close to home, which adds up over a two-year ND.
  • JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so offers for current candidates can come late. Keep checking CAPS until then.

How to apply for Statistics at Heritage Poly, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Statistics with English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics, and pick Heritage Polytechnic as your polytechnic.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Heritage Poly was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into Statistics from another course, see JAMB change of course.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out.
  5. Contact the polytechnic: visit the admissions office at Ikot Udota, Eket (or the website if it loads for you), confirm that your course is admitting, and pay only through the channel the school names.
  6. Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  8. Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.

Warning

Heritage Poly admissions, like all ND admissions, are only valid when they show on JAMB CAPS. If an agent offers you a “guaranteed” place or a special list for money, walk away and deal with the admissions office directly.

Studying Statistics at Heritage Poly

Wikipedia places it in the Faculty of Science and Technology. Heritage Poly has not published a course outline, so the list below is the usual NBTE pattern for ND Statistics in Nigerian polytechnics.

What you study

  • Descriptive statistics and probability
  • Sampling methods and survey design
  • Statistical inference and estimation
  • Economic and social statistics, index numbers and time series
  • Mathematics for statistics
  • Statistical computing with spreadsheets and packages such as SPSS
  • SIWES placement and general studies

Duration and accreditation

Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time, with a SIWES placement. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Heritage Poly is in NBTE’s 2020 Directory (private, approved 2010), which confirms the school itself. I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Statistics specifically. That matters: an ND from a programme NBTE has not accredited can cause problems when you apply for an HND or a job. Ask the department for its accreditation letter before you pay fees.

Careers after the ND

  • Statistical assistant in ministries, local governments and agencies
  • Field enumerator or data supervisor on surveys
  • Monitoring and evaluation assistant with NGOs
  • Data entry and reporting roles in banks, hospitals and schools
  • Research assistant
  • HND Statistics, then data analysis certifications or a degree

To compare the same course at other Akwa Ibom polytechnics, see the Federal Poly Ukana Statistics cut-off mark and the Akwa Ibom Poly Statistics cut-off mark.

For revision, start with the JAMB Economics syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Statistics applicants

  • Leaving out Mathematics: every version of the Statistics combination I have seen requires it.
  • Arts subjects in the UTME: Literature or CRS do not appear in any Statistics line I have seen.
  • A weak Mathematics grade: Statistics is a numbers course and the department will notice.
  • Skipping the e-brochure check: the JAMB line could not be read for this page, so confirm it at registration.
  • No O’level on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer until your result is uploaded.

Heritage Poly Statistics: frequently asked questions

What subjects do I need for Statistics in Heritage Poly? Use of English, Mathematics and two related subjects. English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics fits every common version of the rule; confirm the line on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register.

Is 110 enough for Statistics at Heritage Poly? It clears JAMB’s minimum of 100, and Heritage Poly has published no higher figure. It is a little below my safe target of 120, so a strong O’level result and a good screening will matter.

Can I study Statistics at Heritage Poly without Physics? Probably yes. In the patterns I could check, Physics is one of several options, and Economics with Geography or Chemistry can fill the two slots. Confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure.

Is Statistics at Heritage Poly accredited? Heritage Poly itself is in NBTE’s 2020 Directory (private, approved 2010). I could not confirm the accreditation of ND Statistics specifically, so ask the department for its NBTE letter before you pay fees.

Sources and updates

The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The course name is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for the school. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure page for Statistics loaded empty on 3 November 2026, so the subject pattern comes from Federal Polytechnic Offa’s Statistics department page and Federal Polytechnic Nekede’s admission brochure, labelled as comparisons. The polytechnic’s address and approval year are from NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes (serial number 63); its history, faculties and website are from Wikipedia’s article on Heritage Polytechnic. The safe target, the worked example and the ranking illustration are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Heritage Poly publishes a 2027/2028 notice.
