Gregory University Cut-Off Mark for Pharmacy 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Gregory University used 140 for all courses; JAMB’s 2026 floor is 150. Its Pharm.D got full NUC accreditation in 2025/2026. See subjects, O’level, Direct Entry, screening and my safe target.

Gregory University has no separate cut-off mark for Pharmacy. Its minimum UTME score for every course was 140 in 2024/2025 and 2025/2026, but JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities is 150, so 2027/2028 candidates should plan with 150 as the floor. Pharmacy is one of Gregory’s most competitive courses, and I would aim for 200 or more.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices available: Gregory’s 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 screening notices, read together with JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score could be found. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Voice of Nigeria reported on 16 September 2026 that NUC granted Gregory’s Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) programme full accreditation in the 2025/2026 exercise, and a feature in The Sun says 31 Doctors of Pharmacy from Gregory were inducted between March and April 2026. The Pharmacy Council of Nigeria’s online list of accredited universities, last modified in September 2024, does not include Gregory. Ask the faculty for its current PCN accreditation letter at clearance.

The 140 figure is the floor for every course at Gregory, not a figure for one department. Because JAMB fixed 150 as the university minimum for 2026 admissions, I would not plan with 140 any more. Plan for at least 150, and read Gregory’s 2027/2028 notice the day it comes out.

Safe target score for Pharmacy at Gregory (my advice)

Gregory publishes no admitted scores. Pharmacy is usually among the two or three most competitive courses at any Nigerian university that runs it, and Gregory’s new full accreditation will add to demand. These bands are my judgement.

Your UTME scoreMy read for this course at Gregory
Below 150Not eligible under JAMB’s 2026 rule
150 to 179Eligible; unlikely for Pharmacy
180 to 199Possible with excellent one-sitting credits
200 to 229Competitive
230 and aboveStrong

If you fall short, a related science such as Biochemistry or Medical Biochemistry keeps you on a similar path. Other South East options include UNN Pharmacy and ESUT Pharmacy.

Gregory Pharmacy subject combination and O’level requirements

JAMB’s brochure entry for Pharmacy, reprinted by Myschool, lists Physics, Chemistry and Biology for the UTME. Remarks name more than a dozen universities, including UI’s one-sitting rule, but none mention Gregory, so the general rules apply.

UTME subjectStatus
Use of EnglishCompulsory
PhysicsCompulsory
ChemistryCompulsory
BiologyCompulsory

O’level rules

RequirementWhat applies at Gregory
Brochure ruleFive credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology
Gregory remark in the brochureNone (UI asks for one sitting; UNN, UNILORIN and others allow two)
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (Gregory notice)
SittingsUp to two sittings in Gregory’s general notice; one sitting is the safer profile

Chemistry is the subject to protect. Pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutics and pharmacology all build on it, and a strong Chemistry grade is the clearest sign to a screening panel that you can cope.

Direct Entry into Gregory Pharmacy

The brochure’s Direct Entry rule is three A level passes in Chemistry, Biology or Zoology, and Physics or Mathematics, plus the UTME requirements. Several universities add their own conditions, but there is no Gregory remark. Gregory runs Direct Entry, JUPEB and IJMB admission, so confirm with the College of Pharmacy whether it takes DE candidates and at what level.

How Gregory University screening works for Pharmacy

Gregory runs one screening exercise for all its degree courses, and Pharmacy applicants go through the same portal as everyone else. The details below come from the university’s 2024/2025 news page and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. I could not find the 2026/2027 notice itself, although news headlines show the university advertised 2026/2027 Post-UTME, Direct Entry, transfer, JUPEB and IJMB admission.

No Gregory notice mentions a computer-based test, so do not pay anyone selling Gregory “past questions”. My working assumption is that the university ranks applicants on UTME score and O’level grades, then sends offers through JAMB CAPS. If a later notice adds a test or an interview, follow the notice.

Worked example: two Pharmacy applicants

Gregory has not published an aggregate formula, so this example only compares scores with JAMB’s 150 floor and my target. It is illustrative.

Amarachi scored 231 in the UTME. She has B2 in English, B2 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, A1 in Chemistry and B2 in Biology from one WAEC sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 231 minus 150 = 81. Clear of the national floor, and well clear of Gregory’s old 140.
  2. Against my target: 231 minus 200 = 31 above the score I call safe.
  3. O’level check: all five required credits are in place.
  4. What to do: register on the Gregory portal as soon as it opens and accept the CAPS offer quickly.

Tobenna scored 186. He has all five credits over two sittings, with C6 in Chemistry. He is eligible (186 minus 150 = 36) but 14 marks under my target. He should still register, and decide early whether he would take a related course if Gregory offers one through CAPS.

How to apply for Pharmacy at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with Gregory as first choice: pick Pharmacy and write Use of English with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The 2025/2026 notice addressed first-choice candidates, so if Gregory is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. Awaiting result candidates must upload as soon as results are out, because CAPS will not treat you as qualified without them.
  4. Register on the Gregory portal: at gregoryuniversityuturu.edu.ng/postutme, fill the form and upload your passport (PDF), UTME result and O’level result.
  5. Pay the screening fee online: ₦2,000 in 2025/2026, by ATM card. Print the receipt and the completed form.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer before you pay anything to the school.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: Gregory’s acceptance fee and tuition were not in any official source I reached. Pay only the amount on the invoice the university portal generates.

Warning

Gregory University’s website warns applicants to pay only through its official portals and says it has no admission agents. Real offers appear only on JAMB CAPS, so do not pay anyone who promises a Pharmacy “slot” or a place on a “departmental list”.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, Gregory included, so anyone who applied this year should keep checking CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see there.

Studying Pharmacy at Gregory University

Gregory is a private university at Amaokwe-Achara, Uturu, Abia State, licensed in 2012, according to the university, and Pharmacy has its own College of Pharmacy. The Voice of Nigeria report quotes the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Cele U. Njoku, as saying the result would strengthen the university’s professional programmes. The Sun’s April 2026 feature reports 31 Doctors of Pharmacy inducted that spring and a 1,000-bed teaching hospital nearing completion at Ezinnachi.

What you study

Gregory’s Pharm.D curriculum was not online in any source I reached. Nigerian Pharm.D programmes usually cover:

  • First-year sciences, then physiology, anatomy and biochemistry
  • Pharmaceutical chemistry and drug analysis
  • Pharmaceutics: how medicines are formulated and made
  • Pharmacology and toxicology
  • Pharmacognosy (medicines from plants)
  • Clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice, with hospital and community placements

Degree, duration, accreditation and licensing

Gregory awards the Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D), according to the VON report. Pharm.D programmes in Nigeria normally run for six years, longer than the old five-year B.Pharm; Gregory has not published its own duration. NUC’s full accreditation came in the 2025/2026 exercise; I could not read Gregory’s entry in NUC’s accreditation results, 1990 to 2025 publication to see a maturity date. Graduates register with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, whose online list (September 2024) does not yet show Gregory, although the 2026 induction of 31 graduates shows Gregory pharmacists are entering the profession.

Careers

  • Hospital pharmacist
  • Community pharmacist or pharmacy owner
  • Roles in drug manufacturing, quality control and regulatory affairs
  • Sales, marketing and medical information with pharmaceutical companies
  • Teaching and research after postgraduate study

For UTME revision, use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus for 2027. If you need to switch course or school later, read JAMB change of course, and if you are planning another attempt, see when JAMB 2027 registration starts.

Mistakes that cost Pharmacy applicants a Gregory place

  • Writing Mathematics in place of Physics: the UTME combination is Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • Planning with 140: the 2026 university floor is 150, and Pharmacy admits far above it.
  • Budgeting for five years: Pharm.D programmes run longer than the old B.Pharm.
  • Missing the Gregory portal step: register for screening as soon as it opens.
  • Paying anyone outside the portal: Gregory says it has no admission agents.

Gregory University Pharmacy cut-off mark: frequently asked questions

What is the cut-off mark for Pharmacy in Gregory University? Gregory has no separate Pharmacy figure. Its general minimum was 140, JAMB’s 2026 university minimum is 150, and I would aim for 200 or more.

Is Pharmacy in Gregory University accredited? Voice of Nigeria reported full NUC accreditation for the Pharm.D in the 2025/2026 exercise. PCN’s online list does not yet show Gregory, so ask for the PCN letter at clearance.

Does Gregory University offer B.Pharm or Pharm.D? Pharm.D, the Doctor of Pharmacy, according to the September 2026 VON report.

Is 190 good for Pharmacy at Gregory University? It clears the 150 floor, so you can screen, but it sits under the 200 I would call competitive. Strong one-sitting credits, especially in Chemistry, will matter.
