Topfaith University has not published a cut-off mark for Medical Laboratory Science. The official minimum is 150, JAMB’s 2026 floor for universities. Topfaith’s admissions page asks only that you “meet cut-off marks in UTME in relevant subjects” and gives no number. MLS is one of eight programmes the NUC approved for Topfaith from the 2023/2024 session, and tuition for 2026/2027 is ₦2,200,000 a session.
2027/2028 update: Topfaith University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Below you will find what Topfaith has published, a safe target score (clearly marked as my advice), the UTME and O’level subjects from JAMB’s brochure, how Topfaith admits through its portal and JAMB CAPS, the 2026/2027 fees, and where Medical Laboratory Science stands with the regulators.
Topfaith University cut-off mark for Medical Laboratory Science at a glance
| Item | Position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Topfaith cut-off for Medical Laboratory Science | Not published | Topfaith admissions page; Myschool reprint of the 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026) |
| JAMB minimum for all universities (2026 UTME) | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Safe target score | 200 and above | My advice, not a Topfaith rule |
| UTME subjects | English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| O’level | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology | JAMB brochure plus Topfaith’s own rule |
| Sittings | No more than two | Topfaith admissions page |
| Faculty | College of Medical Sciences | Topfaith fees page |
| Tuition, 2026/2027 | ₦2,200,000 per session | Official fees page |
| Acceptance fee | ₦100,000, non-refundable | Official fees page (2026/2027 freshers) |

Topfaith Medical Laboratory Science cut-off: what has been published
| Session | Figure | What it is | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | Not published | Topfaith’s own cut-off for Medical Laboratory Science | topfaith.edu.ng/admissions (checked 3 November 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB’s minimum UTME score for every university | JAMB 2026 policy meeting (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | No score given | Myschool reprint of Topfaith’s application notice | Myschool, 20 May 2026 |
| Earlier sessions | None found | No Topfaith departmental figure in any source I reached | Searches up to 3 November 2026 |
So the only number you can treat as official is 150. Topfaith takes its students through JAMB, and JAMB will not let any university admit a 2026 candidate below that line. If a blog shows you a “Topfaith Medical Laboratory Science cut-off” of 180 or 200, ask where it came from: none of the figures I have seen cites a Topfaith document.
MLS started at Topfaith in October 2023, so its first students had not graduated by the 2026/2027 session. There is no departmental cut-off on record.
Safe target score for Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built from how young private universities in Nigeria usually fill their places. It is not a Topfaith rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible this session |
| 150 to 179 | Eligible, but weak for a health course |
| 180 to 199 | Possible with strong science grades |
| 200 to 229 | Good. This is the range I would aim for |
| 230 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 200, with B grades in Biology and Chemistry. MLS attracts many candidates who first wanted Medicine, which lifts the scores of applicants even at private universities.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith
| Requirement | Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (JAMB brochure) | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| O’level (JAMB brochure) | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| O’level (Topfaith rule for every course) | Five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at no more than two sittings |
| Topfaith remark in the brochure | None. The Myschool reprint of JAMB’s Medical Laboratory Science page lists no Topfaith-specific remark, so the general line applies |
| Direct Entry (JAMB brochure) | A-level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology |
| Direct Entry (Topfaith) | Five credits plus at least two A-level passes in relevant subjects, or an ND or HND with credit, or a good first degree |
| Transfer | JAMB admission letter, transcript and an attestation letter from your previous university |
Physics is the subject MLS candidates drop by mistake, often for Mathematics. JAMB’s general line is Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and the only remark that differs (Babcock accepting any three of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) is Babcock’s alone.
You need all five O’level credits: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. UI asks for one sitting; Topfaith allows two.
How Topfaith screens Medical Laboratory Science applicants
Topfaith states that all its admissions go through JAMB. You apply online on the Topfaith portal, upload your documents, and choose Topfaith as your first choice on JAMB. The 2026/2027 notice does not publish a Post-UTME test, a test date, a form price or a scoring formula, so I cannot tell you whether Medical Laboratory Science applicants sit a paper test or are judged on UTME and O’level alone.
| Detail | Topfaith 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates with five relevant credits (English and Mathematics included) who meet the UTME cut-off and chose Topfaith |
| Application | Online at topfaith.edu.ng/application/ (“Start Application”) |
| Form fee | Not published |
| Post-UTME test | Not described in the notice |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
| Contacts listed | admissions@topfaith.edu.ng and two phone lines on the admissions page |
Worked example (illustrative)
With no published formula, the useful sum is the gap between your score, the 150 floor and my safe target of 200. These candidates are made up to show the method.
Take Imaobong, who scored 211 and has B2 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry, C4 in Physics, C4 in Mathematics and B3 in English from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 211 minus 150 = 61. Imaobong clears the JAMB floor by 61 marks.
- Against my safe target: 211 minus 200 = 11. Imaobong sits 11 marks above the score I would call safe.
- O’level check: all five credits, one sitting.
- What I would advise: apply on the Topfaith portal and ask the department for its MLSCN status before paying.
Sunday scored 176. 176 minus 150 = 26, so the score itself is enough to be considered. He has all five credits, but at 176 he is below my safe line for a health course. He should apply and watch CAPS, while keeping Public Health or Microbiology elsewhere as a backup.
Your chances of getting Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith
Topfaith is a young private university in Mkpatak, Essien Udim LGA. Its first students matriculated in May 2022, and it now lists 26 programmes on its 2026/2027 fees page. Private universities in Akwa Ibom draw far fewer UTME applicants than the University of Uyo, and fees screen out many families, so a candidate who clears 150 and has clean O’level results is usually in a stronger position at Topfaith than at a federal university with the same score.
MLS classes at young private universities are often smaller than demand. With 190 or more and clean science grades, I would expect a reasonable chance at Topfaith; below 180 it becomes uncertain.
How Topfaith compares with other Akwa Ibom universities
| University | Type | 2026/2027 minimum |
|---|---|---|
| University of Uyo (UNIUYO) | Federal | 150, with UNIUYO as first choice (UNIUYO 2026/2027 notice) |
| Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) | State | 150 (reprint of AKSU 2026/2027 notice). In 2025/2026 AKSU set 265 for its health programmes other than Nursing |
| Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene | Private | No published figure; JAMB floor of 150 applies |
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. Private universities, Topfaith included, have until 30 November 2026, so admissions at Topfaith can still move on CAPS this month.
How to apply for Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Medical Laboratory Science with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and make Topfaith University your first choice. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution at a JAMB CBT centre.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. Check that English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology all show.
- Apply on the Topfaith portal: open topfaith.edu.ng/application, click “Start Application”, fill the form and upload the documents it asks for.
- Follow the screening instructions: Topfaith contacts applicants about the next step. If you hear nothing, write to admissions@topfaith.edu.ng with your JAMB number.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay the acceptance fee and register: the acceptance fee is ₦100,000 and is not refundable. Pay it and the ₦2,200,000 tuition only through channels Topfaith confirms, then print your JAMB admission letter.
Check the council before you pay
Medical laboratory scientists need MLSCN induction to practise, and I could not confirm an MLSCN approval for Topfaith. Ask the department in writing for its MLSCN approval and indexing arrangements before you pay tuition.
Studying Medical Laboratory Science at Topfaith University
Medical Laboratory Science is in Topfaith’s College of Medical Sciences and leads to the Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science (B.MLS). Nigerian B.MLS programmes normally run for five years, including an internship-style placement, though Topfaith’s fees page does not state the length.
Accreditation
The NUC approved Medical Laboratory Science as one of eight new Topfaith programmes, with teaching from October 2023, after a visit in April 2023 (Topfaith news). A later NUC resource verification visit to the Engineering and Medical Sciences faculties named Medical Laboratory Science among the programmes checked.
The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 has no MLS row for Topfaith, which fits a programme that began in 2023. The Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) also approves and inspects MLS training. I found no MLSCN record naming Topfaith. MLSCN status: not confirmed.
What you study
- Foundation: biology, chemistry, physics and mathematics, then anatomy, physiology and biochemistry.
- Laboratory disciplines: medical microbiology, haematology and blood transfusion science, chemical pathology and histopathology.
- Applied: immunology, parasitology, laboratory management and quality control.
- Final year: hospital laboratory placement and a research project.
Careers
Medical laboratory scientists work in hospital and private diagnostic laboratories, blood banks, public health laboratories, research institutes and pharmaceutical firms. Practice in Nigeria needs MLSCN induction and registration after graduation.

Mistakes that cost Medical Laboratory Science applicants a Topfaith place
- Mathematics in place of Physics: JAMB’s line for MLS needs Physics.
- Missing one science credit: all five O’level subjects are required.
- Not asking about MLSCN: it affects your licence later.
- Leaving O’level off CAPS: JAMB cannot process an admission without it.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and registration at Topfaith are separate steps.

Sources and updates
The application rules, the online portal and the contacts come from Topfaith’s admissions page; tuition and the ₦100,000 acceptance fee come from its fees page for 2026/2027 freshers (both checked 3 November 2026). The absence of a cut-off figure is confirmed by Myschool’s reprint of Topfaith’s 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026). Subject requirements come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure page for Medical Laboratory Science, which carries no Topfaith remark. The 2023/2024 approval and the resource verification come from two Topfaith news articles (undated pages, approval notice). The NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (uploaded September 2026) has no row for this programme at Topfaith. I found no MLSCN document naming Topfaith. The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Comparison figures for other Akwa Ibom universities come from their own 2026/2027 notices or reprints, as labelled in the table. The safe target score and the worked example are my advice. This page will be updated if Topfaith publishes a cut-off for Medical Laboratory Science.
