OSISATECH Food Technology Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

OSISATECH Food Technology cut-off mark for 2027/2028: JAMB’s 100 minimum, OSISATECH’s 140 guidance, UTME subjects (Biology plus two), O’level credits, fees, CAPS steps and what the ND covers.

The OSISATECH Food Technology cut-off mark starts at 100, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics. Our Saviour Institute of Science and Technology, Enugu has no departmental figure, but its official FAQ says applicants who score 140 and above are likely to be admitted. Food Technology is on JAMB’s course list for OSISATECH, and the school’s older list of NBTE-accredited courses shows it as Food Science Technology at ND level only, with no HND.

2027/2028 update: OSISATECH cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below are the official figures and their sources, a safe target score, the UTME and O’level rules from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure, how OSISATECH admits students, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the diploma covers.

OSISATECH Food Technology cut-off mark: the official figures

Two figures matter. The first is JAMB’s. At its 2026 policy meeting JAMB kept the minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics at 100 for 2026/2027 (NAN, 11 May 2026), the same figure it set for 2025/2026 (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025). Below 100 no polytechnic can admit you.

The second is OSISATECH’s own. Its official FAQ page, published in September 2021, says the cut-off is reviewed every year and that, for now, applicants who score 140 and above are likely to be admitted. That line covers all courses; there is no separate figure for Food Technology. The school has not posted a newer number, so 140 is the best guide to what OSISATECH expects.

If a blog quotes a different OSISATECH departmental cut-off for Food Technology, ask for the school notice behind it. I could not find one.

Safe target score (consultant advice)

I would aim for 140 or more, the school’s own line. Food Technology is one of the less crowded science courses at most Nigerian polytechnics, so I would not push much higher, but the 140 guidance dates from 2021 and is reviewed yearly. At 140 you can also apply to IMT Enugu’s Food Technology if OSISATECH does not work out.

Your UTME scoreWhat it means at OSISATECH
Below 100Not eligible for any polytechnic
100 to 139Eligible on paper, but below OSISATECH’s own 140 guidance
140 to 149Within OSISATECH’s guidance
150 and aboveComfortable at OSISATECH, with Enugu backups open

UTME subject combination for Food Technology at OSISATECH

JAMB’s polytechnic brochure asks for Biology or Agricultural Science and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Economics, with Use of English compulsory (brochure entry). The UTME remarks cover IMT Enugu (Biology required), Yabatech, Ibadan Poly, Bauchi Poly and Imo Poly. OSISATECH has no remark, so the general rule applies.

SubjectStatus at OSISATECH
Use of EnglishCompulsory
Biology or Agricultural ScienceCompulsory (one of the two)
Two of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, EconomicsYour choice

The combination I would sit is English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. Chemistry and Mathematics are O’level credits you need anyway, food processing leans on chemistry from the first semester, and this set also fits IMT’s Food Technology. English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics is equally valid. Avoid Agricultural Science in place of Biology if you want IMT as a backup, because IMT asks for Biology.

O’level requirements for OSISATECH Food Technology

The brochure asks for five credits in Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology (Agricultural Science or Health Science may stand in for Biology), plus any two from Physics, Technical Drawing, Economics or Commerce, English Language, Further Mathematics, Home Economics, Food and Nutrition, and Geography. JAMB’s main text treats English as optional, but OSISATECH’s own admission page requires credits in English and Mathematics for every ND applicant, in no more than two sittings.

RequirementDetail
Number of creditsFive
Compulsory credits at OSISATECHMathematics, Chemistry, Biology (or Agricultural or Health Science), English Language
Fifth subjectPhysics, Food and Nutrition, Home Economics, Further Mathematics or another listed subject
SittingsNo more than two
Exams acceptedWAEC, GCE O’level, SSCE, NECO, NABTEB or equivalent

Food and Nutrition and Home Economics count as a fifth credit, which helps candidates from schools that teach them. Physics is not compulsory here, unlike in Science Laboratory Technology.

HND and Direct Entry

The brochure’s Direct Entry section for Food Technology is blank, and HND entry does not use the UTME. The 2018 schoolings.org list shows Food Science Technology at OSISATECH at ND level only. If you want an HND in Food Technology later, you may have to move to another polytechnic, so ask OSISATECH whether it now runs one. Our OSISATECH HND guide lists what the school offers at HND level.

OSISATECH also runs part-time ND, and its admission page says part-time applicants do not need the UTME. A 2018 blog list of OSISATECH courses (schoolings.org) shows Food Technology under the School of Continuing Education as well. If you missed the UTME, ask the school whether part-time Food Technology is admitting and how long it runs before you pay; the details are not on the website.

OSISATECH screening and a worked example

OSISATECH’s FAQ page says the school does not currently hold a post-UTME exam, that applicants who passed JAMB and have good O’level results can apply, and that you first present your credentials to the admission officer at the Ogui campus for validation, then pay for the form at Ohha Microfinance Bank, #1 Ogui Road. The fees page lists the form at N10,000. The admission page also says forms are bought at the school, so plan to go in person. The school’s published email for questions is osisatechinstitute@gmail.com.

Without a test, your ranking is likely to rest on your UTME score and your O’level grades, which is why the worked example below uses only those two.

Worked example (illustrative)

Nkiru scored 144 with English, Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics. She has two sittings: WAEC with English C6, Mathematics C5 and Biology B3, and NECO with Chemistry C4 and Food and Nutrition B2. Two sittings are allowed, and she has every compulsory credit.

As an illustration only, with the 50/50 UTME and O’level mix many polytechnics use: 144 divided by 8 gives 18. With A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6 and C6 = 5, her grades give 5 + 6 + 8 + 7 + 9 = 35. Her illustrative total is 53 out of 100. OSISATECH has published no formula. Nkiru clears the school’s 140 line and should be well placed if she applies early and uploads both results to CAPS.

How to apply for Food Technology at OSISATECH

  1. Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line you will use for JAMB. The reply carries your profile code.
  2. Pick OSISATECH and Food Technology: JAMB lists the school as Our Saviour Institute of Science, Agric. & Tech. Choose it at registration, or move to it later with a JAMB change of institution.
  3. Write the UTME: aim for 140 or more, then check your JAMB result.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre, and upload both results if you are using two sittings. A school cannot recommend you on CAPS without them.
  5. Validate and buy the form: take your JAMB result and O’level certificates to the admission officer at the Ogui campus, #1 Ogui Road, Enugu, then pay for the form (N10,000 on the 2021 fees page) at Ohha Microfinance Bank.
  6. Accept on CAPS: JAMB’s 2026 rules give you four weeks to accept an offer before it can lapse. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows the screens.
  7. Pay and register: print your JAMB admission letter, pay school fees at Ohha Microfinance Bank and keep every receipt. Your student portal is osisatech.skool-board.com.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, so the current cycle runs until 31 December 2026. If you chose a different course or school on your JAMB form, use JAMB change of course together with change of institution before then.

What OSISATECH charges (older official figures)

OSISATECH’s fees page lists one set of charges for its ND, HND and NCE students, payable at Ohha Microfinance Bank on Ogui Road. The page was last changed in March 2021 and names no session, so treat these as a guide and confirm the current amounts before you pay. The 2021 FAQ adds that OSISATECH charges no acceptance fee; you still accept the offer on JAMB CAPS.

Warning

JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal. A full-time ND place at OSISATECH must show on your CAPS page before you pay school fees. Do not pay anyone who offers a place without it.

Your chances and backup options

OSISATECH releases no intake numbers, so this is my judgement. Food Technology is not a crowded course, and a first-choice candidate with the right subjects and 140 or more should have a fair chance. Keep a backup anyway:

Backup optionJAMB listingNote
IMT Food TechnologyListed for IMTRequires Biology in the UTME
OSISATECH Science Laboratory TechnologyListed for OSISATECHSame school; needs Mathematics, Biology and Physics in the UTME
Abia Poly Food TechnologyListed for Abia State PolytechnicNeighbouring state; confirm it is admitting

What you study in ND Food Technology

OSISATECH has not published its outline. The NBTE national ND curriculum in Food Technology generally covers:

  • Food chemistry and food microbiology
  • Food processing and preservation: drying, canning, freezing and fermentation
  • Nutrition and food analysis
  • Food plant equipment, hygiene and sanitation
  • Quality control and food laws
  • A project and the general ND courses in communication and entrepreneurship

SIWES places you in a food or drink factory, bakery, water company or quality-control laboratory between the first and second years.

Duration and accreditation

The full-time ND takes two years. OSISATECH says NBTE approved its ND admissions in December 1991, and the 2018 schoolings.org list names Food Science Technology among its NBTE-accredited courses, but that article cites no NBTE document and I found no current NBTE record for the programme. Accreditation is not confirmed, so ask the department for its NBTE letter before paying fees.

Careers

  • Production and quality-control technician in food and beverage companies
  • Bakery, confectionery and small-scale food processing businesses
  • Laboratory work in food testing and regulatory agencies
  • HND in Food Technology elsewhere, or Direct Entry into a university food science degree

For the UTME, see our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus guides.

Mistakes to avoid

  • Leaving out Biology or Agricultural Science in the UTME: one of them is compulsory.
  • Skipping English at O’level: OSISATECH requires the credit even though JAMB’s main text does not.
  • Expecting an HND at OSISATECH: the 2018 list shows the course at ND level only.
  • Using three sittings.
  • Paying before your admission shows on CAPS.
