Maduka University Cut-Off Mark for Medical Laboratory Science 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Maduka’s 2026/2027 minimum is 150 for all courses, with no separate MLS figure. MLS is on the JAMB-style list, MLSCN approval is not confirmed. Safe target, UTME and O’level subjects, fees and CAPS steps.

The Maduka University cut off mark for Medical Laboratory Science is 150 in the UTME. Maduka’s 2026/2027 admission announcement, as reported by Myschool News on 15 May 2026, gives a single minimum of 150 in the UTME “as approved for the 2026/2027 Session”, which is also JAMB’s minimum for every Nigerian university this year. Maduka has no separate MLS figure, so any MLS-specific number you see online is not from the university.

2027/2028 update: Maduka University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Medical Laboratory Science is on the JAMB-style Maduka course list I checked, and the JAMB course name to register is Medical Laboratory Science. The 2026/2027 fee list calls the degree BMLS and places it in the College of Medicine and Health Sciences. I could not find a public Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) list showing whether Maduka’s programme is approved, so I explain below how to check before you pay. You will also find a safe target score, the subjects, the fees reported so far and the CAPS steps.

Campus Ninja, one of the few sites with Maduka course figures, does not list MLS at all, and its general figure of 140 sits below JAMB’s 2026 floor. That leaves the 150 minimum as the only figure with an official basis. Your real target should be higher, as the next section explains.

Safe target score for Maduka MLS (my advice)

Maduka has not published its MLS intake or the lowest score it admitted. MLS is usually less crowded than Medicine or Nursing, but it still draws many science candidates. This is my judgement.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Maduka MLS
Below 150Not eligible for any university in 2026/2027
150 to 169Eligible, but a thin margin
170 to 189Possible with good science credits
190 to 209Competitive
210 and aboveStrong. 200 and above also clears ESUT’s published MLS minimum

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 190, and 200 or more if you want ESUT as a second option.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Maduka MLS

RequirementMedical Laboratory Science
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
O’levelFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
SittingsMaduka has not published a rule; one sitting is safer
Direct EntryA-level passes including Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Zoology
Maduka-specific remarkNone in the JAMB brochure

These are the general requirements in the JAMB brochure entry for Medical Laboratory Science (Myschool reprint). The brochure has no rule letting Maduka candidates replace Physics with Mathematics, so keep Physics in your UTME.

MLSCN and NUC: what to check

Medical laboratory scientists in Nigeria are registered by the MLSCN, which approves university BMLS programmes and sets their admission quotas. The Voice of Nigeria has reported the council’s plan to double quotas at the 48 universities offering BMLS, but that report names no universities, and I could not find a dated MLSCN list that includes or excludes Maduka.

Because of that, ask Maduka two questions before you pay: has the MLSCN approved its BMLS programme, and what quota did it set? Keep the answer in writing. A programme with council approval is the one whose graduates can be inducted, do the internship and register.

Maduka’s first NUC accreditation results came from an exercise in October to December 2025. According to the university’s press release on its NUC results (29 July 2026), seven programmes earned full accreditation: Accounting, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Economics and International Relations, with scores between 84.8% and 97.0%, valid until 2030. No health programme was among them. New programmes are usually accredited once their first students reach the later years, so the absence is expected for a university this young.

How Maduka screens MLS applicants

Maduka has not published a Post-UTME test, an aggregate formula or screening dates for Medical Laboratory Science. None of the 2026/2027 reports mentions a written test. What they describe is an online application: you buy the form, enter your UTME and O’level details, choose a programme and print a slip. After that the university decides and sends its offer through JAMB CAPS. Direct Entry and inter-university transfer candidates are also accepted.

So for a Maduka applicant, the three things that carry weight are the ones you can control: a UTME score comfortably above 150, clean O’level credits in the right subjects, and a complete CAPS profile. If Maduka invites you for a test or interview, the invitation will come from the university directly; ignore anyone who asks for money to “process” it.

Worked example

No official aggregate exists, so the useful sum is the gap between your score, 150 and my 190 target. This is an illustration.

  1. Nneka scored 203: 203 minus 150 = 53 above the minimum and 13 above my target. She is competitive at Maduka and also clears ESUT’s 200.
  2. Tobenna scored 166: 166 minus 150 = 16 above the minimum, 24 below my target. He can apply; I would also have him ready to accept a related science course if offered.
  3. Both: confirm the MLSCN position with Maduka before paying acceptance.

How to apply to Maduka for Medical Laboratory Science

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN, then take the code to an accredited CBT centre.
  2. Register the right course: pick Medical Laboratory Science with Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If Maduka is not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the university starts processing admissions.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited centre, have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded so it shows on your CAPS profile. If you wrote two sittings, upload both.
  4. Apply on Maduka’s portal: blogs describe the steps as creating a profile, entering your UTME and O’level details, choosing your programme, paying the form fee (₦5,000 in the 2026/2027 reports) and printing the slip. The enquiry details in the university’s July 2026 press release point to admissions.madukauniversity.edu.ng.
  5. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept or reject an offer there; an offer that is not on CAPS is not a valid admission.
  6. Pay acceptance and register: the 2026/2027 reports put Maduka’s acceptance fee at ₦50,000, non-refundable, with tuition payable in two instalments on a 60/40 basis. Confirm the amounts on the portal before you pay, and print your JAMB admission letter for clearance.

Warning

Maduka’s management has warned the public not to deal with anyone who is not an authorised representative of the university. Pay only through the portal or bursary, and treat any offer that is not on JAMB CAPS as fake.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Public universities had 31 October 2026, and polytechnics and colleges of education have until 31 December 2026. Any Maduka offer for 2026/2027 has to be on CAPS before the private-university date.

If your UTME score falls short, Maduka also runs IJMB and Pre-Degree programmes (reported by Daily Post and summarised on Wikipedia). The 2026/2027 fee reports put its IJMB at ₦800,000 for two semesters, paid at once. IJMB A-level results are one of the routes into 200 level through Direct Entry at many Nigerian universities. Ask Maduka in writing which degree courses its IJMB students can move into before you pay.

Mistakes MLS applicants make with Maduka

  • Treating 150 as the MLS score: it is the minimum for any university.
  • Not asking about MLSCN: the council’s approval decides induction and registration.
  • Dropping Physics: the brochure combination is Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
  • No O’level on CAPS: a CAPS offer cannot be made without it.
  • Ignoring a Transfer Approval: if CAPS offers a related course, weigh it before rejecting.

Our JAMB CAPS guide explains offers and transfers, and JAMB change of institution covers moving Maduka up your list.

Sources and updates

The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 private-university deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), and News Central’s list of institution-declared cut-offs from the same meeting has no Maduka entry. Maduka’s 2026/2027 minimum of 150, its College of Medicine and Health Sciences and the 2026/2027 fees, form fee, acceptance fee and 60/40 instalments come from the university’s 2026/2027 admission announcement as reported by Myschool News (15 May 2026) and The Vent Republic (14 May 2026). I did not see the original notice, because the university’s own website could not be reached. Earlier figures are from AndroidPols (16 November 2025, 2025/2026 fees and 150) and AbsTechConnect (24 May 2026), and Maduka’s programme list by college is from Teezab (16 July 2026). The NUC results for seven programmes are from the university’s press release on its NUC results (29 July 2026). School background is from TheCable and Nairametrics (2023 and 2024), Daily Post (April 2025) and Wikipedia. The JAMB course-list check used universitycourses.ng (updated 1 March 2026) and Myschoolnews (19 July 2023). Subjects are from the JAMB brochure entry for Medical Laboratory Science. The MLSCN quota plan is from the Voice of Nigeria (undated report quoting the council’s Registrar). Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated if Maduka publishes an MLS cut-off or MLSCN approval becomes public.
