The Caritas University cut-off mark for Radiography is 150 in the UTME in practice. Caritas’s 2026/2027 admissions page names Radiography directly and says its cut-off is 140, along with Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing. JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities is 150, though, and CAPS will not carry an admission below it, so 150 is the real floor. There is no written Post-UTME test.
2027/2028 update: Caritas University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Before you apply, know the accreditation gap. Radiography is on JAMB’s Caritas list as Radiography and Radiation Science, and Caritas advertises it in its Faculty of Allied and Medical Sciences. But the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025, published in September 2026, list only Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing Science under Caritas’s allied health programmes. Radiography is not on it, and I found no Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) record naming Caritas. The programme looks new and has not yet been through an NUC accreditation visit. Ask Caritas for its NUC approval letter and its RRBN position in writing before you pay.

Caritas Radiography cut-off mark history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 140 | Caritas’s stated cut-off for Radiography, Medical Laboratory Science and Nursing | Official Caritas admissions page, read 30 October 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 (as titled) | 140 | Caritas general minimum in the Registrar’s notice | Official, but the text is carried over from older years |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB minimum for universities | Reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025 |
The notice titled for 2025/2026 still refers to the “2019 JAMB UTME” and a closing date of 15 February 2025, so it is old text that Caritas keeps reposting. I use it only for two points that have stayed constant: the 140 figure and the statement that there is no Post-UTME screening test. Blogs such as O3schools (January 2026) and Studentship repeat both points.
Radiography is one of only three courses Caritas names in its cut-off line. The figure it names is still below JAMB’s floor, so you need 150 at least.
Score warning
Caritas’s admissions page still says candidates with 140 and above can apply. JAMB’s 2026 minimum for every university is 150, and JAMB has said admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so a UTME score from 140 to 149 cannot give you a valid Caritas admission. Do not pay any agent who promises to “process” one.
Safe target score for Radiography at Caritas (my advice)
Radiography is a professional health course, and in Enugu ESUT required 200 to screen for it in 2026/2027 while UNN required 160. At Caritas the floor is 150, but I would aim higher. Students who missed Medicine or Nursing often move into Radiography, and a candidate in the 150s usually has weak Physics, which is the core of the course.
| Your UTME score | My read for Caritas Radiography |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible through UTME; ask about Caritas’s JUPEB programme |
| 150 to 179 | Eligible at Caritas; apply early |
| 180 to 199 | Comfortable at Caritas; UNN is a possibility |
| 200 and above | Strong; ESUT is also open to you |
My target for a 2027 candidate is 180 or more, with all five science credits in one sitting.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Radiography at Caritas
JAMB’s brochure entry for Radiography and Radiation Science has no special remarks for any university, so the general rules apply to Caritas.
| Requirement | Radiography at Caritas |
|---|---|
| JAMB course name | Radiography and Radiation Science (Caritas University) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| O’level | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry |
| Caritas Faculty of Allied and Medical Sciences list | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology (same five) |
| Sittings | Not more than two; WAEC, NECO and NABTEB can be combined |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| Awaiting result | Allowed if the result is out by resumption |
Why Physics carries this course
Radiography is applied physics in a hospital. X-ray production, radiation dose and protection, ultrasound, CT and MRI all depend on it, and you will meet radiation physics again in nearly every year. Physics is fixed in both the UTME and the O’level for this course, with Mathematics as a compulsory O’level credit as well. If your Physics credit is a C6, plan to revise it properly before 100 level.
Direct Entry
The brochure’s Direct Entry rule is two A-level passes chosen from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Caritas has not published how many Direct Entry places it gives Radiography or at what level, and since the programme is new it may not yet have upper-level classes. Ask before you register as a Direct Entry candidate.
How Caritas screens Radiography applicants
| Detail | What is known for 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Advert | “Admission ongoing for 2026/2027 session”, with Radiography named in the cut-off line |
| Who can apply | Candidates with 140 and above, first choice or not (150 in practice) |
| Written Post-UTME test | None, according to Caritas’s admission notice |
| Form fee, closing date, aggregate | Not published |
| Student loan | The admissions page links to the NELFUND portal; check your own eligibility there |
The no-test statement comes from a notice Caritas has reposted with old dates, so treat it as the usual practice. Health courses sometimes add an interview, so watch the admissions page for 2027/2028 details.
Worked example
Caritas publishes no aggregate, so these illustrative checks use the floor, my target and the O’level.
Somtochukwu scored 187 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Her WAEC has B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Biology, C5 in Physics and B3 in Chemistry.
- JAMB floor: 187 minus 150 = 37. Eligible.
- Against my target: 187 minus 180 = 7. Comfortable.
- O’level: credits in all five required subjects. She qualifies.
- Accreditation check: before paying the acceptance fee, she asks Caritas for the NUC approval letter for Radiography and its RRBN status, and keeps the replies.
Compare Kelechi, who scored 158 but registered Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME. His score clears the floor, yet the combination does not fit Radiography. He could look at a course whose subject rule accepts Mathematics, such as Microbiology at Caritas, or rewrite the UTME with Physics next year.
Admission odds and advice
- Settle approval first: with 150 and the right subjects, Caritas is likely to admit you, so spend your effort on getting written answers about NUC approval and RRBN status.
- Ask where students do clinical postings: radiography students need hospital imaging departments. Ask which teaching hospital Caritas uses.
- Make Caritas your first choice on JAMB so CAPS can process the offer.
- Know the 2026/2027 date: JAMB’s admission window for private universities runs until 30 November 2026 for the current session.
Other Radiography options in Enugu
| University | Minimum UTME score (2026/2027) | Our guide |
|---|---|---|
| Caritas University, Amorji-Nike | 150 (JAMB floor; Caritas says 140) | This page |
| SUMAS, Igbo-Eno (Radiography and Radiation Science) | 150 | SUMAS Radiography cut-off mark |
| UNN (Medical Radiography and Radiological Sciences) | 160 to screen | UNN Radiography cut-off mark |
| ESUT (Medical Radiography) | 200 | ESUT Radiography cut-off mark |
If your score is between 150 and 159, Caritas and SUMAS are the Enugu options. The SUMAS guide sets out its NUC and RRBN position, which is worth comparing with what Caritas tells you.
How to apply for Radiography at Caritas, step by step
- Profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line registered with your NIN, then use the code to register.
- UTME registration: choose Caritas University and “Radiography and Radiation Science”, and write Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- O’level on CAPS: upload your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as it is out. CAPS cannot show you to Caritas without it.
- Caritas application: go to the admissions page on caritasuni.edu.ng, use the application link or the “Contact admissions” option, and apply for Radiography. Caritas has not published the 2026/2027 form price, so pay only the amount the official portal shows and keep the receipt.
- Screening: there is no written Post-UTME test on record. Expect Caritas to check your UTME score, subjects and O’level, and bring originals if you are called for document screening.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer once it appears. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows every screen.
- Acceptance and school fees: Caritas says its fees were revised but publishes no amounts. Pay only into the account on your official Caritas invoice, then print your JAMB admission letter.
Studying Radiography at Caritas University
Accreditation and approval
- NUC: the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list Caritas’s allied health programmes as Medical Laboratory Science (Full, maturity 2030) and Nursing Science (Interim, maturity 2027). Radiography does not appear. A new programme can run on NUC approval until its first accreditation visit, but I found no published NUC approval for Caritas Radiography either. Ask Caritas for the approval letter.
- RRBN: the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria registers radiographers and inspects training programmes. I found no RRBN record that includes or excludes Caritas, so RRBN approval is not confirmed. Ask Caritas what its RRBN status is.
This matters because you register with the RRBN after graduating, and the board looks at whether your programme was approved. A programme that later fails accreditation can leave students waiting or transferring.
Degree, duration and what you study
Caritas has not published the award name or duration. Nigerian radiography degrees (B.Rad. or B.Sc. Radiography) usually take five years. The common structure:
- Early years: physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics and general studies, then human anatomy and physiology.
- Middle years: radiation physics, radiographic equipment, radiographic positioning and techniques, image processing, radiobiology and radiation protection.
- Final years: ultrasound, CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy principles, clinical postings in hospital imaging departments, research methods and a project.
Careers
Radiographers work in hospital imaging departments, private diagnostic centres, oncology and radiotherapy units, and with equipment companies as application specialists. Some move into radiation safety or teaching. Practice in Nigeria requires RRBN registration, which is why the approval questions above deserve a written answer.

Mistakes that cost Radiography applicants a Caritas place
- Trusting the 140 for Radiography: JAMB’s 150 floor decides CAPS admission.
- Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME: not accepted for Radiography.
- Missing a Mathematics or Physics credit: both are compulsory at O’level.
- Paying before checking approval: get the NUC and RRBN answers in writing first.
- Keeping another university first: a JAMB change of institution fixes it; then accept on JAMB CAPS.
Caritas Radiography cut-off mark: frequently asked questions
Is 140 enough for Radiography at Caritas University? No. Caritas names 140 for Radiography, but JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities is 150, and admissions below it cannot go through CAPS. Aim for 180 to be safe.
Is Radiography at Caritas accredited? It is not in the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025, and I found no RRBN record naming Caritas. Ask Caritas for its NUC approval letter and RRBN status before paying.
What JAMB subjects do I need for Radiography at Caritas? Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Mathematics cannot replace Physics, though you need a Mathematics credit at O’level.
Can I enter Radiography at Caritas through Direct Entry? JAMB’s general rule is two A-level passes from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Caritas has not published Direct Entry details for Radiography, so confirm before you register.
Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). Caritas’s 140 figure, the statement that first-choice and other candidates may apply, the awaiting-result rule and the faculty O’level lists come from the Caritas University admissions page, read on 30 October 2026. The no-test statement comes from Caritas’s admission notice signed by the Registrar, M. I. Onwuka, with O3schools and Studentship as secondary confirmation. The course name and subject rules come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s Caritas course list and the brochure entry for Radiography and Radiation Science, checked on 30 October 2026. The accreditation position is from the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (September 2026), which lists no Radiography programme for Caritas; I found no RRBN record naming Caritas. Comparison figures come from the SUMAS, UNN and ESUT 2026/2027 notices covered in our linked guides. Safe target scores and worked examples are my own advice, not Caritas figures. Checked on 30 October 2026; this page will be updated when Caritas or JAMB publishes 2027/2028 figures.
