The MOUAU Computer Science Education cut off mark is 150 in the UTME. That is the minimum Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike set for every course in its 2026/2027 screening notice, and MOUAU must be your first choice. The university has not published a separate cut-off for Computer Science Education, so 150 gets you into screening and a higher score is what gets you admitted.
2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
This guide covers the official figures, my safe target score, JAMB’s rules for Computer Science Education, how it differs from pure Computer Science at MOUAU, the screening process, a worked example and every step through CAPS.
MOUAU Computer Science Education cut off mark at a glance
| Item | 2026/2027 position | Status |

MOUAU Computer Science Education cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | MOUAU minimum UTME score to register for screening, all courses, MOUAU as first choice | MOUAU notice signed by the Registrar, read through Myschool’s reprint (20 June 2026) |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official, JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026 |
| 2025/2026 | Not verified | Blogs say 150; I could not open MOUAU’s own 2025 notice | Unconfirmed |
| Any year, Computer Science Education only | Not published | No separate merit cut-off for this course in any MOUAU source I reached | No official figure |
MOUAU uses one floor of 150 for all its courses, and Computer Science Education has no departmental figure of its own. Blog pages that print a “MOUAU departmental cut-off” for Computer Science Education cite no MOUAU document, so read them as guesses. The real merit line is decided after screening and is never made public.
Safe target score for Computer Science Education at MOUAU (my advice)
Because MOUAU publishes no merit cut-offs, the bands below are my planning advice for science education courses at a federal university, not MOUAU figures.
| Your UTME score | My read for MOUAU Computer Science Education |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible to register for MOUAU screening |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible; a tough spot unless your O’level is excellent |
| 170 to 184 | Fair to good chance |
| 185 and above | Strong for this course |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 185. Computer Science Education is the busiest of the science education options at most universities, because many candidates who miss pure Computer Science see it as a second route into computing. MOUAU ranks applicants and weights O’level sittings, so give yourself a margin.
UTME subject combination for Computer Science Education at MOUAU
JAMB’s brochure (Myschool reprint of the Education and Computer Science page) gives the UTME subjects as Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry and Geography, with Use of English compulsory.
| UTME subject | Choice |
|---|---|
| Use of English | Compulsory |
| Mathematics | Compulsory |
| Physics | Compulsory |
| One of Biology, Chemistry and Geography | Pick one |
Chemistry is the most common third subject, and it keeps the door open to pure science courses if you need to change course later.
Computer Science Education or Computer Science?
MOUAU runs both. Computer Science sits in the College of Physical and Applied Sciences and trains you as a computer scientist. Computer Science Education sits in the College of Education and trains you to teach computing, with education courses and teaching practice added. If you want to teach, or you want a less crowded route into computing, the education option makes sense. If you want to be a software developer from day one, compare it with our MOUAU Computer Science cut-off mark guide.
Which course name to pick on the JAMB form
MOUAU is not named on Myschool’s Education and Computer Science page, although MOUAU’s College of Education lists B.Sc (Ed) Computer Science and its part-time call listed Computer Science Education. The page’s university list was empty when I checked. When you register, check the names JAMB shows under MOUAU and pick the computer science teaching option, not pure Computer Science, unless that is what you want.
O’level requirements
| Requirement | What the brochure and MOUAU say |
|---|---|
| Credits needed | Five credits, at not more than two sittings |
| Subjects in the brochure line | Mathematics, English Language and three other science subjects |
| Sensible three sciences | Physics plus two of Chemistry, Biology and Computer Studies or Data Processing (check that MOUAU accepts the last two) |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB |
| Sittings | MOUAU weights the number of sittings, so one sitting is better |
Physics is fixed in your UTME, so it should also be a credit on your O’level. Whether MOUAU counts Computer Studies or Data Processing as one of the three sciences is not stated in any source I reached, so rely on Physics, Chemistry and Biology if you have them.
Direct Entry
- Brochure line: two A level passes including Physics or Chemistry.
- NCE holders: the brochure line names only A level passes. If you hold an NCE with Computer Science as a teaching subject, ask MOUAU whether it accepts it for Direct Entry before you buy the DE form.
- What MOUAU itself said: the 2026/2027 notice as reprinted gave no Direct Entry details, so watch the portal for a separate DE announcement.
Does the 2026 NCE change affect this course?
No. JAMB’s 2026 NCE guide moved candidates for colleges of education onto a separate NCE registration with no UTME, and it ended 100 and 200 level degree admission into colleges of education from 2026/2027. Those rules are about colleges of education. MOUAU is a university, and its B.Sc (Ed) Computer Science Education degree is still filled through the UTME and CAPS. If you hold an NCE already, it counts towards Direct Entry here, as the list above shows.
How MOUAU screening works
MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice, signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, set out these rules for UTME candidates:
| Detail | MOUAU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates with 150 or more in the 2026 UTME who chose MOUAU first; others could first change to MOUAU on the JAMB portal |
| Registration opened | 6 June 2026, online through www.mouau.edu.ng |
| Registration and validation | portal.mouau.edu.ng |
| Fee | ₦2,000 through Remita, by card or cash at any bank |
| O’level | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results uploaded to JAMB CAPS at an accredited CBT centre |
| How O’level counts | The notice says O’level results and the number of sittings are weighted |
| Awaiting results | Candidates still waiting for 2026 results were told not to register until the results were out |
| Payment problems | portal@mouau.edu.ng |
| Closing date and test date | Not stated in the notice as reprinted |
The notice does not describe a written Post-UTME test, so I would not plan around one. Expect MOUAU to rank Computer Science Education applicants on the UTME score and the O’level result, with one sitting counting in your favour. Keep checking the portal in case a test or an extra step is announced; the notice itself told candidates to check back for screening results and admission status.
Worked example for a Computer Science Education candidate
MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. This example only measures the gap to the minimum and to my safe target, so treat it as illustrative.
Take Somto, who scored 181 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. In one WAEC sitting he has B3 in Mathematics, C4 in English, B3 in Physics, C5 in Chemistry and C6 in Biology.
- Eligibility: 181 minus 150 = 31. He clears the MOUAU minimum by 31 marks.
- Against my safe target: 185 minus 181 = 4. He is just under it.
- O’level check: Mathematics, English and three sciences, all credits in one sitting. That matches the brochure line.
- My advice: register for screening and keep MOUAU first. His single sitting helps close the small gap.
Compare Chidinma with 166 and Physics from a second sitting. She is eligible, but on my bands she is in a tough spot, so I would tell her to accept a MOUAU science education offer in Physics or Mathematics Education if CAPS shows one.
How to apply for Computer Science Education at MOUAU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with MOUAU first: choose Computer Science Education with English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry and Geography. If you already registered with another school as first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU’s screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. MOUAU’s notice requires your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result there.
- Register for screening: when MOUAU announces the exercise on www.mouau.edu.ng, register and validate on portal.mouau.edu.ng with your JAMB registration number.
- Pay the screening fee: ₦2,000 in 2026/2027, on the Remita invoice the portal generates. Print every receipt and slip.
- Watch the portal: MOUAU posts screening results and admission status there, and the decision then shows on JAMB CAPS.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept in 2026.
- Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU has not published its acceptance fee or school fees in any source I reached. Pay only the amount shown on your MOUAU portal invoice.
Warning
Some websites sell “MOUAU departmental cut-off” lists, and some people sell admission “slots”. MOUAU’s notice gave one minimum of 150 for every course, and every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Pay MOUAU only through the Remita invoice from its portal.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date for public universities to finish 2026/2027 admissions. If you applied in 2026, check CAPS now. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status you may see, and how to check your JAMB result covers what to do once your 2027 score is out.
Studying Computer Science Education at MOUAU
Computer Science Education sits in the Department of Science Education, College of Education (COED), on the Umudike campus about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State. The COED page lists the department’s B.Sc (Ed) options as Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Integrated Science and Computer Science Education. MOUAU itself was set up by federal decree in November 1992 as a university of agriculture.
What you study
- Computing content: programming, data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, databases and networking.
- Mathematics: discrete mathematics, calculus and statistics that support the computing courses.
- Education courses: educational psychology, curriculum studies, educational technology, and methods for teaching computer studies.
- Teaching practice and project: supervised teaching in a secondary school and a final-year project.
MOUAU’s own pages I reached do not state the duration. Four years through the UTME is the usual length for a B.Sc (Ed) in Nigeria, and Direct Entry students normally start at 200 level.
Accreditation
I could not confirm the current NUC accreditation status of Computer Science Education at MOUAU. The course is on the university’s official department list, which is a good sign, but ask the department before you pay acceptance and make sure your admission letter names Computer Science Education.
Part-time route
MOUAU has also run part-time B.Sc programmes through its Centre for Continuing Education. Myschool’s report of the part-time call for 2023/2024 (12 September 2023) listed Computer Science Education among the courses. That is an older notice, and part-time entry rules and fees were not stated in it, so treat it as a possible fallback and confirm the current call on the MOUAU portal.
Careers
- Computer studies and ICT teacher in secondary schools
- ICT instructor in training centres and technical colleges
- Education technology, e-learning and school IT support
- Postgraduate study in computer science or educational technology. To teach in Nigeria you are expected to register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN)
Related MOUAU courses
- MOUAU Mathematics Education cut-off mark
- MOUAU Physics Education cut-off mark
- MOUAU Integrated Science Education cut-off mark
- MOUAU Computer Science cut-off mark
All of these share MOUAU’s 150 minimum. If you wrote Chemistry as your third UTME subject, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus for 2027 will help you prepare.
Mistakes that cost Computer Science Education applicants a MOUAU place
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it only lets you register for screening, and this course fills fast.
- Choosing MOUAU second: the notice asked for MOUAU as first choice.
- Leaving out Physics: it is fixed in the UTME combination.
- Picking pure Computer Science by mistake: check the course name on the JAMB form.
- O’level not on CAPS: the notice requires the upload.
- Paying agents for “slots”: offers only come through CAPS.
If MOUAU is not your first choice yet, read JAMB change of institution. If you registered a different course, JAMB change of course explains how to switch.
