Oji River College of Health Tech Pharmacy Technician Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Entrance Exam and Form

Pharmacy Technician admission at Oji River College of Health Technology for 2027/2028: the O’level rule, the entrance exam, the last form price on record and the PCN accreditation question.

For Oji River College of Health Technology Pharmacy Technician admission, there is no JAMB cut-off mark to meet. Enugu State College of Health Technology, Oji River admits Pharmacy Technician students through its own form and entrance exam. In its last traced advert, for 2024/2025, the only stated requirement was an O’level certificate, the form cost ₦10,000 at the admission office, and the exam held on Saturday 10 August 2024 after being moved from 27 July. No 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 advert has been found.

2027/2028 update: The admission requirements and entrance exam process at Oji River College of Health Technology usually stay the same from one year to the next, so what is on this page is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. The latest advert we could trace is the 2024/2025 one, reprinted by an admissions blog; no 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 notice has turned up. If the 2027/2028 advert changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find the dated facts, the O’level subjects I would have (marked as my advice), how the entrance exam worked in the last cycle on record, the application steps, what pharmacy technicians do and the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria check to make before paying fees.

Is there a JAMB cut-off mark for Pharmacy Technician at Oji River?

No cut-off mark has been published, and I could not find any source saying Pharmacy Technician applicants at this college must sit the UTME. The 2024/2025 advert, as reprinted by Myschool, asked only for an O’level certificate and sent candidates to the college’s own entrance exam. What a Pharmacy Technician applicant has to pass here is the college’s entrance exam.

If the college ever moves a programme onto JAMB’s list as a National Diploma, the national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics would apply. JAMB fixed that at 100 for 2025/2026 and kept it at 100 for 2026/2027 at its policy meeting of 11 May 2026. Until the college says so, treat that figure as background only.

Those 2024 dates and the ₦10,000 price belong to the 2024/2025 cycle. They are useful as a guide to timing, since the form came out in June and the exam held in August that year, but they are not 2026 or 2027 figures.

O’level subjects for Pharmacy Technician at Oji River

The college has not published a subject list for Pharmacy Technician. The only requirement in the advert reprint is an O’level certificate, with a reminder that candidates must meet the programme’s entry requirements before applying. That leaves the details to the admission office, so here is what I would have before buying the form. This is my advice, based on what health training programmes in Nigeria usually ask for, and it is not the college’s published list.

SubjectMy advice for Pharmacy Technician
English LanguageCredit
MathematicsCredit; you will calculate doses and quantities
ChemistryCredit; I would not apply without it
BiologyCredit
PhysicsCredit, as the fifth science

Pharmacy work leans on Chemistry and arithmetic, so those two credits matter most to me. Whether the college accepts two sittings or NABTEB has not been published; one sitting with all five credits is the safest position.

One admissions blog (Studentship, June 2025) lists credits in English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry plus a National Diploma “in a relevant field” for this college. An ND requirement makes no sense for school leavers applying to a certificate programme, so I read that line as copied from an HND template. Ask the admission office before you rely on it.

How the Oji River entrance exam works for Pharmacy Technician

The college sets its own entrance exam. It has not published the subjects tested, the pass mark, the number of questions or how it ranks candidates, and no aggregate formula has been released. From the 2024/2025 cycle, these points are on record:

  • Forms were sold at the college’s admission office in Oji River, not through JAMB.
  • The form cost ₦10,000 in 2024. Myschool also advertised past questions for ₦4,500, but that was Myschool’s own product, not a college fee.
  • The exam was first fixed for Saturday 27 July 2024, then moved to Saturday 10 August 2024. Form sales closed on the exam day.
  • Studentship’s June 2025 page describes an online form and payment by card or at First Bank for the same session. The Myschool reprint says the admission office, and the college’s own notice was not available to me, so confirm the method in Oji River.

Worked example (illustrative)

Take Obinna, who has B3 in Chemistry, C5 in Biology, C6 in English, C4 in Mathematics and E8 in Physics from WAEC 2026. He has four of my five recommended credits. He asks the admission office whether Geography, where he has a C6, can stand in for Physics. If the answer is no, he registers for the November NECO to get a Physics credit and keeps revising for an entrance exam that, going by 2024, could come around August.

The steps in that example are my planning advice. The college has not published a scoring method, and a pass in its exam is what decides the offer.

How to apply for Pharmacy Technician at Oji River College of Health Technology

  1. Confirm that sales are open: visit or call the admission office at the college in Oji River. With no official website found, the office is the safest source of the current form price, closing date and exam date.
  2. Check the O’level rule for Pharmacy Technician: ask which five subjects need credits, whether two sittings are accepted, and whether awaiting results are allowed.
  3. Buy the form from the college: in 2024 it was ₦10,000 at the admission office. Pay only through the channel the college gives you and keep the receipt.
  4. Fill and submit the form: choose Pharmacy Technician as your programme, attach passport photographs and copies of your O’level result and birth certificate or age declaration, and submit before the closing date.
  5. Write the entrance exam: go with your receipt or exam slip. Revise English, Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry at SSCE level, since those are the subjects most health exams draw from.
  6. Check the list and accept: when your name appears, pay the acceptance fee and the other fees the college lists. In 2025 the Oji River council listed acceptance, tuition, accreditation, development, examination, sanitation, sports and hostel charges among what it paid for its scholars, which gives you an idea of the separate items to expect.
  7. Only if the college says JAMB is needed: create a JAMB profile by sending NIN and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019, register the UTME with the college as your choice, upload your O’level to JAMB CAPS, then accept the offer on CAPS before paying the college. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each screen.

Warning

No official website for this college turned up in our searches, and sites that look official can belong to agents. Buy the form only at the college or through a payment channel the admission office gives you in writing, and never pay anyone who promises a guaranteed place.

Your chances of admission into Pharmacy Technician

The college does not publish an intake quota, and no applicant numbers have been released, so nobody can give you real odds. Two facts help. In November 2025 every one of the 47 Oji River indigenes sponsored by the local council was offered admission, across eight programmes. The council was paying their fees, so this tells you the college admitted candidates who met its requirements; it does not tell you how many outsiders were turned down.

Pharmacy Technician is one of the programmes most candidates know by name, so I would expect more applicants for it than for some others on the list. The college publishes no figures, so this is my judgement. A strong Chemistry credit and good exam preparation are your best cards.

The college’s condition is the second thing to weigh. In August 2024 the Enugu State Government said the college had fallen from its former standing, announced a revamp and asked students to return after a security breach near the school. The government said the suspects had been arrested and the victims, one of them a student, freed, and that more security personnel had been posted to Oji River. Visit the campus, ask current students about lectures and clinical postings, and ask the college to show you its accreditation letter for Pharmacy Technician.

What you study in Pharmacy Technician

Pharmacy technicians support pharmacists in hospitals, health centres and community pharmacies. PCN regulates them, coordinates accreditation of pharmacy technician programmes, which are run in schools and colleges of health technology, and runs the professional examination for pharmacy technicians. The college has not published its course list, so the topics below describe the training in general.

  • Pharmaceutical chemistry and basic pharmacology
  • Dispensing, labelling and counselling patients on how to take medicines
  • Pharmaceutical calculations and simple compounding
  • Stock control, storage and record keeping for drugs
  • Pharmacy law and ethics in Nigeria
  • Practical postings in hospital and community pharmacies

Duration and award

The college has not published the length of the programme or the name of the award, and I did not find a PCN source giving the national duration. Ask the admission office both questions before you accept.

Accreditation and licensing

PCN accredits pharmacy technician programmes and registers the technicians who pass its professional examination. I could not confirm that PCN has accredited the programme at Oji River, and the college has published nothing on it. Since PCN registration is what lets you work as a pharmacy technician, ask to see the accreditation letter before paying fees.

Do not confuse this college with the Oji River campus of the Enugu State College of Nursing Sciences. The state government reported in April 2025 that the nursing college had opened campuses in Nsukka and Oji River after accreditation. That is a separate institution with its own admissions, and nursing is not one of the College of Health Technology’s programmes.

Careers

  • Hospital and health centre pharmacies, public and private
  • Community pharmacies, working under a registered pharmacist
  • Drug distribution and supply companies
  • Further study toward pharmacy or related degrees, subject to each university’s entry rules

For entrance exam revision, start with Chemistry: our JAMB Chemistry syllabus and JAMB Biology syllabus list the topics.

Mistakes Pharmacy Technician applicants make

  • Waiting for a JAMB cut-off: none has been published. The college’s own form and exam decide admission.
  • Planning with 2024 dates: the 27 July and 10 August 2024 exam dates and the ₦10,000 price were for 2024/2025.
  • Buying forms from strangers: buy at the college or through a channel it names.
  • Skipping the accreditation question: ask whether PCN has accredited the programme before paying school fees.
  • Missing a science credit: Chemistry is the one credit I would never apply without for Pharmacy Technician.

If you also plan to write the UTME for a university or polytechnic place, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and, if you later want to switch schools, JAMB change of institution.
