The UNN cut off mark for Computer and Robotics Education for 2026/2027 is 160 in the UTME, the minimum the University of Nigeria, Nsukka set for 2026/2027 screening in the Registrar’s notice of 13 July 2026, for candidates who chose UNN first. UNN has not published a departmental cut-off for Computer and Robotics Education (formerly Computer Education) for 2026/2027 or 2025/2026, so a figure presented as the department’s official score did not come from UNN.
2027/2028 update: UNN cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
You will also see 200, the minimum UNN declared at the JAMB 2026 policy meeting on 11 May 2026, as reported by Vanguard. Screening opened at 160, the declared benchmark was 200, and the real admission line depends on demand. This guide explains the name change, the JAMB subjects and O’level credits UNN wants, Direct Entry, how screening ran, an aggregate example, what you will study (including the robotics courses) and the score I would aim for.
UNN cut off mark for Computer and Robotics Education 2027/2028 at a glance
| Item | 2026/2027 position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum UTME to apply for UNN screening | 160 | Official (UNN, 13 July 2026) |
| UNN minimum declared at the JAMB policy meeting | 200 | Reported by Vanguard, 11 May 2026 |
| Departmental cut-off | Not published | No UNN list for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics or Physics, plus two other science subjects | UNN remark in the JAMB brochure (reprint) |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Physics or Mathematics, plus three of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics and Geography, in not more than two sittings | UNN department page |
| Degree | Bachelor of Science in Computer and Robotics Education | UNN department page |
| Duration | 4 years (UTME); 3 years (Direct Entry) | UNN department page |
| Faculty and campus | Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education, Nsukka | UNN |
| Screening window | 15 July to 5 August 2026 | Closed |
The 160 is the general cut-off for screening. The departmental cut-off is the lowest score that is actually admitted after ranking, and UNN does not publish it. My target score later in this guide is advice, labelled as such.
Computer Education is now Computer and Robotics Education
UNN’s department website now presents its four-year course as the “Revised Four-Year Standard Undergraduate Degree Programme in Computer and Robotics Education”, leading to a Bachelor of Science in Computer and Robotics Education. There is also a three-year Direct Entry version. The department was previously called Computer Education, and that older name still appears on the faculty menu, on older UNN pages and on the JAMB brochure reprint I checked.
In practice, this means the course may still be listed as Computer Education on JAMB’s portal or on CAPS. Check the exact name in UNN’s course list when you register and pick the one that belongs to the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education. It is a different course from Computer Science, which sits in the Faculty of Physical Sciences.
UNN Computer and Robotics Education cut-off mark history
These are the only figures that trace back to UNN or JAMB. None of them is specific to Computer and Robotics Education.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 160 | UTME score needed to apply for UNN screening (UNN as first choice) | Official, UNN Registrar notice of 13 July 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 200 | Minimum UNN declared at the JAMB 2026 policy meeting | Reported by Vanguard and News Central, 11 May 2026 |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for all universities | Official JAMB policy, May 2026 |
| 2025/2026 | 160 | UTME and screening threshold in UNN’s advert (shopping) notice | Official notice, seen through reprints |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official JAMB policy, July 2025 |
| 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 | Not published | Departmental cut-off for this course | UNN has released no departmental list |
One education blog puts “Education courses” at UNN at 160 to 200 as a group for 2025/2026. It calls its figures estimates from trends and does not say whether they are UTME scores or aggregates, so treat that as an unofficial estimate and nothing more. Because the course has “computer” and “robotics” in its name, I expect it to attract more applicants than older education courses, but there is no official figure to prove that either way.
JAMB subject combination for Computer and Robotics Education at UNN
The JAMB brochure’s general rule for Computer Education and UNN’s own remark differ, so follow the UNN version.
| Requirement | What you need at UNN |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (UNN remark) | Use of English, Mathematics or Physics, plus two other science subjects |
| Brochure general rule (other universities) | Mathematics, Economics or Commerce, plus one of Chemistry, Physics or Biology |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Physics or Mathematics, plus any three of Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics and Geography, in not more than two sittings |
| Direct Entry (3 years) | A’level passes in Physics and Mathematics; or a lower credit HND in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field; or UNN’s Diploma in Computer Education or an ND from a recognised institution; or a pass in NCE Computer Education with O’level credits in English and Mathematics or Physics; or a B.Sc. in any science discipline |
| Minimum UTME to apply | 160, with UNN as first choice |
My suggestion for the UTME is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. It satisfies UNN’s remark either way you read it, and it keeps Computer Science and engineering courses open if you change your mind. For O’level, get credits in both Mathematics and Physics even though the rule says “or”. The programming and digital design courses lean on both. I could not open JAMB’s official IBASS brochure from here, so confirm your combination on your JAMB profile before you register.
A quick O’level check before you apply
- English Language: credit (C6 or better).
- Mathematics: credit. Treat it as compulsory.
- Physics: credit, ideally.
- Three more credits from Chemistry, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics and Geography.
- Not more than two sittings, with names on WAEC or NECO matching your JAMB record.
Where Computer and Robotics Education sits at UNN: the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education
Computer and Robotics Education is a department in UNN’s Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education (VTE) on the Nsukka campus. The faculty grew out of the old Department of Vocational Teacher Education, which UNN set up in the 1960s with Ford Foundation support. When the Senate gave it faculty status, its old units became full departments. UNN’s own pages give the year as 2015 on one department site and 2016 on the faculty history page.
The faculty history page names six departments: Agriculture and Bioresources Education, Business Education, Computer and Robotics Education, Home Economics and Hospitality Management Education, Industrial Technical Education, and Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education. The faculty menu and some department sites still use shorter, older names such as Agricultural Education and Computer Education, so you will see both versions online. The same page says all the faculty’s programmes are accredited by the NUC and relevant professional bodies. That is the faculty’s own statement; I did not find a separate NUC record for each programme.
UNN screening for 2027/2028: what Computer and Robotics Education candidates had to do
UNN did not run a written post-UTME test for 2026/2027. The Registrar’s notice of 13 July 2026 described an online screening registration only, with no test date and no exam format. If a website is selling you “UNN post-UTME past questions for 2026/2027” as preparation for Computer and Robotics Education, know that the official notice did not mention any paper.
| Detail | 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose UNN as first choice in the 2026 UTME and scored 160 or more |
| Opened | Wednesday 15 July 2026 |
| Closed | Midnight, Wednesday 5 August 2026 |
| Fees | ₦2,000 application fee plus ₦3,300 processing fee (₦5,300 in total), paid through Remita |
| O’level upload | To JAMB CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026 |
| Awaiting results | Not eligible; results had to be out |
| Age | Candidates under 16 by 30 September 2026 were told not to apply |
| Names | Names on WAEC or NECO results must match the names on the JAMB record |
| Uploads | Birth certificate, LGA identification, testimonial, First School Leaving Certificate, JAMB result slip and O’level result(s), each under 100KB |
The portal route was unn.edu.ng, then UNN Portal at the top right (unnportal.unn.edu.ng), then Prospective Students and the 2026/2027 screening form. You entered your JAMB registration number, generated and paid the invoice, came back to fill personal and O’level details (including centre and exam numbers), uploaded your documents, reviewed, submitted and printed the acknowledgement slip. The notice warned that date of birth cannot be changed after submission.
The window is closed. If you did not register by 5 August 2026, UNN cannot consider you for 2026/2027, whatever your score.
How UNN ranks Computer and Robotics Education candidates (aggregate example)
UNN has not published its aggregate formula. Neither the 2026/2027 screening notice nor the 2025/2026 advert notice gives weights or grade points. The 2025/2026 advert notice did refer to a separate screening score with a 160 threshold, but it did not say how that score is worked out.
Several Nigerian education blogs describe the same method, and it is the one you will see most often: 60% of your UTME score plus 40% of an O’level score built from four relevant subjects, where A1 = 100, B2 = 90, B3 = 80, C4 = 70, C5 = 60 and C6 = 50. Treat the example below as an illustration of that blog method. It is not an official UNN formula.
| Step | Working |
|---|---|
| UTME score | 220 |
| O’level: English Language | B3 = 80 |
| O’level: Mathematics | B2 = 90 |
| O’level: Physics | C4 = 70 |
| O’level: Chemistry | C5 = 60 |
| O’level total (out of 400) | 300 |
| 60% of UTME | 220 × 0.6 = 132 |
| 40% of O’level | 300 × 0.4 = 120 |
| Aggregate (out of 400) | 132 + 120 = 252 |
That candidate scores 252 out of 400 on the blog method. Moving Physics from C4 to B2 would add 8 points, equal to about 13 more UTME marks. UNN has not said which O’level subjects it counts, so use this only to see how your grades shift your position.
Merit, catchment and ELDS for Computer and Robotics Education at UNN
UNN is a federal university, so it works under the federal admission guideline that is widely reported as 45% merit, 35% catchment and 20% educationally less developed states (ELDS). UNN has not published its own split for any course, so read that as the national policy rather than a UNN figure.
- Merit: the top scorers in the course, from any state, fill this list first. It is where the highest cut-off sits.
- Catchment: UNN has not published its catchment list. It is generally understood to be the South-East states; confirm on JAMB CAPS or with the UNN admissions office before you count on it.
- ELDS: this is a federal designation. UNN does not publish its own ELDS list, and I would not rely on any blog that names states “for UNN”.
- State of origin: the state on your JAMB profile is what counts, and UNN asks for an LGA identification letter as proof during screening.
If you are from the South-East and miss the merit line, the catchment list gives you a second chance, and ELDS candidates may be considered at a lower score. UNN has not said how many places the department has for 2026/2027, so the lines cannot be predicted.
What score should you aim for in Computer and Robotics Education at UNN?
My advice (not a UNN figure): aim for 210 or more in the UTME, and 220 or more if your O’level grades are mostly C5 and C6. That is a little higher than I would say for other VTE courses, because the computer and robotics focus pulls in more applicants, including people who missed Computer Science.
| Your UTME score | My reading for Computer and Robotics Education at UNN |
|---|---|
| Below 160 | Not eligible for UNN screening |
| 160 to 189 | Eligible, but a long shot without catchment and strong grades; plan a backup |
| 190 to 209 | Possible, better on catchment |
| 210 to 229 | Good position |
| 230 and above | Strong position; Computer Science may also be within reach |
If Computer Science is your real goal, read our UNN Computer Science cut-off guide before you register; the two courses lead to different careers, and the science course is usually more competitive.
Step by step: from JAMB profile to resuming for Computer and Robotics Education at UNN
Warning
JAMB’s 2026 policy gives candidates four weeks to accept an admission offer on CAPS. An offer left unaccepted after that can be withdrawn and given to someone else, so check CAPS every few days once UNN starts releasing lists.
- Get or recover your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN (for example, NIN 12345678901) to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with your profile code, which you need for registration and other JAMB services.
- Make UNN your first choice: UNN screens only candidates who chose it first. If you are planning for 2027, pick UNN and Computer and Robotics Education at registration so you do not pay for a change of institution later.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result has to show on your JAMB profile. For 2026/2027 UNN asked for the upload to CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026. A JAMB-accredited CBT centre can do the CAPS upload for you.
- Register for UNN screening: when the next notice comes out, fill the form on unnportal.unn.edu.ng, pay through Remita and print your acknowledgement slip.
- Check CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, click Check Admission Status, then Access My CAPS and Admission Status. On a phone, switch your browser to desktop view first.
- Accept or reject: read the course name carefully, then click Accept. If you see a Transfer Approval, UNN is offering you a different course, and you must respond to that before anything else.
- Print your JAMB admission letter and pay acceptance: after CAPS, pay UNN’s acceptance fee on the UNN portal. Blogs report it as ₦25,000, but I found no official 2026/2027 figure, so confirm the amount on the portal before you pay.
- Clearance: follow your faculty’s clearance instructions with your original documents. Nobody can “secure” a place for you on CAPS for money.
UNN’s homepage already carries 2026/2027 notices for its primary admission list, its Direct Entry list and lists for candidates with disabilities and foreign candidates, and Myschool reported on 25 October 2026 that the list is checkable on CAPS. JAMB also told public universities to conclude 2026 admissions by 31 October 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status message you may see.
What you study in Computer and Robotics Education at UNN
The department’s published four-year programme mixes computing, robotics and teaching. Some of the courses listed on the department site:
| Level | Examples of courses |
|---|---|
| 100 level | Foundations of Vocational and Technical Education, Information Management and Communication Technology, Computer Keyboarding, Introduction to Computer Science, Computer Hardware Maintenance, Foundations of Robotics Education |
| 200 level | Robotics Programming I and II, Computer Programming, Application and Management in Schools, Methodology in Computer Education, Industrial Work Experience |
| 300 level | Database Management Studies, Assembly Language Programming, Computer Operating Systems, Robotics Graphics, Virtual Robotics Design and Application, Practical Teaching, Students’ Work Industrial Experience |
| 400 level | Design and Development of Educational Robots, Computer Networking and Protocols, Algorithms, Artificial Intelligence, Administration of Vocational and Technical Education, Seminar, Project |
The robotics courses use classroom robot kits; the department lists VEX IQ and LEGO Mindstorms EV3 for the 200-level robotics programming courses. In 300 level you do a supervised teaching practice in a school and an industrial attachment with a computing firm, both worth 6 units each. The final year ends with a project.
Graduates teach Computer Studies and Data Processing in secondary schools (after registering with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria), run STEM and robotics clubs, work in ICT support, networking and database roles, train staff, or move into software and edtech work. The degree is a teaching degree first, so if you never want to teach, compare it honestly with Computer Science.
Related UNN courses: UNN Industrial Technical Education, UNN Business Education, UNN Education (Science) and UNN Mechatronics Engineering.
Common mistakes applicants make
- Registering for Computer Science and expecting a switch: they are different faculties. Pick the course you want at registration.
- Using the brochure’s general rule: Economics or Commerce in the UTME fits other universities, not UNN’s remark. Take science subjects.
- Having only one of Mathematics and Physics at O’level: the rule says “or”, but you will need both for the course.
- Choosing UNN second: UNN screens only first-choice candidates.
- Not uploading O’level to CAPS: without it, CAPS cannot process your admission.
UNN cut off mark for Computer and Robotics Education: frequently asked questions
Is 200 enough for Computer Education in UNN? It clears UNN’s 160 screening minimum and its declared 200 benchmark, so you are in contention, especially with good grades or a South-East state of origin. I would aim for 210 or more to be safer.
Is Computer Education the same as Computer and Robotics Education at UNN? Yes. It is the same department in the Faculty of Vocational and Technical Education; the department’s revised programme now carries the Computer and Robotics Education name.
Can I use awaiting result for UNN Computer and Robotics Education? No. UNN’s 2026/2027 notice excluded candidates awaiting results; results had to be uploaded to CAPS and the UNN portal by 5 August 2026.
Can I get Direct Entry into UNN Computer and Robotics Education with NCE? Yes. A pass in NCE Computer Education, with O’level credits in English and in Mathematics or Physics, qualifies for the three-year programme. You still register for Direct Entry with JAMB and choose UNN first.
Sources and updates
The 160 minimum, screening dates, fees, eligibility rules and portal steps come from the UNN Registrar’s notice 2026/2027 Screening Exercise for Admission of 13 July 2026. The reported 200 comes from Vanguard’s 11 May 2026 report on the JAMB policy meeting (via AllAfrica), and the national 150 minimum, the 31 October admission deadline and the four-week CAPS acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria. The 2025/2026 figure of 160 and the vacancy counts come from reprints of UNN’s October 2025 advert notice. The departmental O’level and Direct Entry requirements come from UNN’s Vocational Teacher Education admission requirements page on education.unn.edu.ng, the department and faculty names and history from vte.unn.edu.ng and the department sites, and the UNN-specific UTME remarks from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure. JAMB’s IBASS brochure could not be opened, so confirm your subjects on your JAMB profile. The degree title, course list, robotics kits and the Direct Entry routes come from the department’s own site, computereducation.unn.edu.ng. The 45/35/20 quota is national policy, not a UNN figure. The aggregate method is a blog method, and the ₦25,000 acceptance fee is an unofficial report. Checked on 29 October 2026.
