The Fed Poly Isuochi Building Technology cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. The polytechnic’s 2026/2027 advert asks every applicant for a UTME score of 100 and above, which is the same as JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics. There is no published departmental cut-off for Building Technology.
2027/2028 update: Fed Poly Isuochi cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Building Technology is one of the four programmes in the School of Environment Design and Engineering Technology at Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi, Abia State. Its UTME rule is a little different from the engineering courses next to it, and that is where many applicants slip. This guide covers the cut-off, the exact subject combination, the O’level list, the application steps and a safe target score.

Fed Poly Isuochi Building Technology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | “Score of 100 and above” in Fed Poly Isuochi’s admission advert | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |

| Any year | None | A Building Technology cut-off of its own | Never published |
So 100 is the only number the school and JAMB have used. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published merit lists with scores, so no one outside its admissions office knows the lowest score that actually got into Building Technology. Treat any blog that quotes a precise departmental figure with suspicion unless it links to a school notice.
Safe target score for Building Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi (my advice)
These bands are my own advice as an admissions adviser. Fed Poly Isuochi has published nothing like them.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Building Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course |
| 100 to 109 | Eligible, but borderline |
| 110 to 119 | Fair chance |
| 120 to 139 | Good chance |
| 140 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 120 or more. Building Technology tends to attract fewer applicants than Computer Science or EEE, and Fed Poly Isuochi is still building its student numbers. A score of 120 gives you a cushion over the minimum without chasing an unrealistic target.
Does state of origin matter?
Fed Poly Isuochi is a federal institution, so it admits candidates from every state. It has not published a catchment list or a quota split for 2026/2027. I would not plan around an indigene advantage unless the school’s own notice mentions one.
Fed Poly Isuochi Building Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Building Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (brochure wording) | Use of English plus “Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Fine Arts” |
| What that means | English, Mathematics, Physics, and either Chemistry or Fine Arts |
| Any waiver for Fed Poly Isuochi | None. Wider options (Geography, Economics, Technical Drawing) are remarks for other schools such as Ilaro and Bauchi |
| O’level core credits | Mathematics and Physics |
| Three more credits from | Economics/Commerce, Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Woodwork, Biology, Religious Knowledge, Metal Work |
| English Language | Credit compulsory (brochure and Fed Poly Isuochi advert) |
| Advantage | A pass in Art or Technical Drawing |
Read the UTME line slowly: Mathematics, Physics, and then Chemistry or Fine Arts as the third subject, with Use of English on top. So both English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and English, Mathematics, Physics and Fine Arts, meet the rule. Geography and Economics appear on some blogs because a few polytechnics (Ilaro and Bauchi among them) have their own waivers. Fed Poly Isuochi does not, so do not register Geography or Economics as your third subject. Our JAMB Chemistry syllabus helps if you take the Chemistry route.
The O’level rule as printed is five credits in Mathematics and Physics plus three from the list, with a credit in English compulsory. Because English is not in that list of three, the strictest reading is six credits. Fed Poly Isuochi’s advert asks for five including English and Mathematics. My advice is to bring English, Mathematics, Physics and at least two of Chemistry, Technical Drawing, Geography and Fine Art, and a third from the list if you have it. A pass in Technical Drawing or Art is an advantage under the brochure.
Direct Entry, HND and the Basic Studies programme
There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Building Technology admission is through the UTME and JAMB CAPS only. The 2026/2027 advert lists ND programmes only, so Fed Poly Isuochi does not appear to run an HND in Building Technology yet. After the ND, the standard NBTE route is one year of industrial attachment and then an HND application, usually needing at least a Lower Credit, at a polytechnic that offers the HND. HND admission is handled by the polytechnic directly, outside CAPS.
The same advert lists a Basic Studies Programme under the School of Business and General Studies. That kind of programme is usually a pre-ND route for candidates still fixing their O’level. The advert gives no entry rules for it, so ask the Admission Unit before you count on it.
How Fed Poly Isuochi screening works for Building Technology
The 2026/2027 advert is short. It tells you how to apply and what you need, but it does not mention a screening test, a closing date or an admission list date. Here is what is confirmed and what is not.
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who sat the UTME and scored 100 or above | Official (advert) |
| O’level | Five credits in relevant subjects including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB, in not more than two sittings | Official (advert) |
| O’level upload | Results must be uploaded to the JAMB portal (CAPS) | Official (advert) |
| Form fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable | Official (advert) |
| Where to apply | Online at fedpis.edu.ng, or the Admission Unit, Nkwoagu Temporary Site, Abia State | Official (advert) |
| Enquiries | 07034376858, 07034200093, registrar@fedpis.edu.ng | Official (advert) |
| Screening test | Not stated | Unknown |
| Closing date | Not stated | Unknown |
| Aggregate formula | Not published | Unknown |
Because the advert names no test, I expect selection to rest on your UTME score, your O’level grades and the number of places in each course. If the school schedules a test or a document check, it will announce it on its portal, so keep your login details safe after you pay.
Worked example for an ND Building Technology applicant
Take Adaeze, who scored 124 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Fine Arts. Her WAEC from one sitting has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Fine Art, Geography and Chemistry.
- Eligibility: 124 minus 100 = 24. Comfortably above the school’s minimum.
- Against my safe target: 124 minus 120 = 4. That puts the score in my good band.
- UTME combination: English, Mathematics, Physics and Fine Arts match the brochure line for Fed Poly Isuochi.
- O’level check: the credits cover the advert’s English and Mathematics rule and the brochure’s core subjects for Building Technology.
Fed Poly Isuochi has not published how it ranks applicants. Many polytechnics combine the UTME score with O’level grade points, so here is one way that could look. Divide the UTME score by 8 to get a mark out of 50, then add points for five relevant O’level grades (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5) for another mark out of 50.
| Subject | Grade | Points |
|---|---|---|
| English Language | C5 | 6 |
| Mathematics | C4 | 7 |
| Physics | C6 | 5 |
| Fine Art | B2 | 9 |
| Geography | B3 | 8 |
| Total O’level points | 35 |
Adaeze’s UTME part is 124 ÷ 8 = 15.5, and the O’level part is 35, so the total is 50.5 out of 100. A rival with 112 in the UTME and the same grades would get 14.0 + 35 = 49.0. This formula is an illustration only. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published one. Under most methods a polytechnic might use, a weak O’level grade can cancel out a few extra UTME marks.
Your chances of getting Building Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi
- Building Technology is usually less competitive than the computing courses. A score around 120 with clean credits is a fair position at a new school.
- Your O’level matters more than a few extra UTME marks here, because the subject list is unusual. Check that you have Physics and enough subjects from the list.
- Fine Arts candidates are welcome under the UTME rule, which helps students from art classes who still have Physics and Mathematics.
- Polytechnic admissions for 2026/2027 were due to close on 31 December 2026 under JAMB’s timetable. Keep checking CAPS until then.
Building Technology was not on the list of six accredited courses The Mirror reported in February 2025. It is on the 2026/2027 advert, so it may have been approved since, but I have not seen the NBTE approval. Ask the department before you pay.
How to apply for Building Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN, then use the code to register for the UTME.
- Register the right subjects: for Building Technology, that is English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry or Fine Arts. Check the course on JAMB’s e-brochure during registration before you pay.
- Choose Fed Poly Isuochi: if the polytechnic was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admissions start. To move into this course from another one, see JAMB change of course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB accredited centre. The advert makes this a condition, and JAMB cannot approve an offer while your O’level is missing.
- Buy the form: apply online at fedpis.edu.ng and pay the ₦2,000 non-refundable fee. Print every page and receipt the portal gives you.
- Watch for screening or document checks: the advert does not name a test date, so check the portal and call 07034376858 or 07034200093 if you are unsure.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its acceptance fee in any source I could reach. Pay only through the school’s portal or an invoice in your name, then complete clearance at the temporary site.
Warning
Admission into Fed Poly Isuochi comes through JAMB CAPS. If anyone offers you a “special list” or a “supplementary slot” for money, walk away. A genuine offer appears on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through the polytechnic’s own portal.
If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts. When results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Building Technology at Fed Poly Isuochi
ND Building Technology trains technicians who manage building work on site: reading drawings, setting out, supervising trades, checking materials and estimating quantities. It is closer to the construction site than Civil Engineering, which also covers roads, drainage and water.
What you study
- Building construction and building drawing
- Building materials and materials testing
- Site surveying and setting out
- Measurement, estimating and introduction to quantity surveying
- Building services (plumbing, drainage and electrical layouts)
- Workshop practice in carpentry, masonry and concrete, plus SIWES
This is the usual NBTE pattern for the ND. Fed Poly Isuochi has not published its own course outline, so exact course titles may differ.
Duration and accreditation
Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time, including a short period of SIWES. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying. The school has not published a course-specific timetable, so treat this as the national pattern.
On accreditation, The Mirror (2 February 2025) reported six NBTE-accredited courses at the polytechnic: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology, Statistics, Accountancy and Business Administration and Management. Building Technology was not on that list. It appears in the 2026/2027 advert, so it may have been approved since, but I could not find an NBTE notice. Ask the department for its current status before you pay fees.
About Fed Poly Isuochi
Federal Polytechnic, Ngodo-Isuochi is in Umunneochi LGA, Abia State. News reports describe it as a new institution established in 2022. Classes run from a temporary site while the permanent site is built, and the groundbreaking for the permanent site was reported in February 2025. The rector, Dr Paul-Darlington Ibemezie Ndubuisi, began a single five-year term on 17 January 2023. Expect the facilities of a growing school, and visit before you accept if you can.
Do not confuse it with Ihechukwu Madubuike Institute of Technology, a separate private institution listed in the same LGA.
Careers after the ND
- Site supervisor or foreman with building contractors
- Assistant to builders, architects and quantity surveyors
- Technician posts in works departments and housing agencies
- Self-employed building work and small contracts, once you have experience
- HND in Building Technology at a polytechnic that runs it, then the route towards professional registration with the Council of Registered Builders of Nigeria (CORBON) under its own rules

Mistakes that cost Building applicants a place at Fed Poly Isuochi
- Registering Geography or Economics as the third UTME subject: that option belongs to other schools’ waivers. Use Chemistry or Fine Arts.
- Missing the Physics credit: it is core at O’level, alongside Mathematics.
- Counting English as one of the three list subjects: it is a separate compulsory credit.
- Leaving the O’level off CAPS: the advert makes the upload a condition.
- Skipping the accreditation question: Building Technology was not on the February 2025 accredited list. Confirm its status.
