ESUT Cut-Off Mark for Radiography 2027/2028: Requirements, Screening and Career Path

ESUT needs 200 in the UTME to screen for Radiography in 2027/2028 and publishes no merit score. Here are the subjects, O’level rules, screening terms, a worked example, a safe target and what the career involves.

The ESUT cut off mark for Radiography for 2026/2027 is 200 in the 2026 UTME. Enugu State University of Science and Technology listed Medical Radiography in the 200 band of its official Post-UTME advert on 4 July 2026, with Medical Laboratory Sciences, Computer Science and the five new computing and security programmes. Below 200, ESUT would not screen you for Radiography.

2027/2028 update: ESUT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

200 is the minimum to apply. The score that actually gets admitted is higher, and ESUT does not publish it. This guide covers the official figures, the course’s short history at ESUT, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subject combination and O’level rules, ESUT’s online screening, the CAPS steps, and what a radiography career involves, including the professional registration question every applicant should ask.

ESUT’s advert calls the course “Radiography” in its list of faculties and “Medical Radiography” in its list of minimum scores. They are the same programme. When you register, pick the ESUT radiography option that JAMB shows for ESUT that year.

Radiography cut-off history at ESUT

SessionFigureWhat it isStatus
2026/2027200Minimum UTME to apply (Medical Radiography named)Official ESUT advert
2025/2026200Minimum UTME to apply (Radiography named)Previous year, from a blog summary of ESUT’s notice
2024/2025200Minimum UTME for the special intake into newly approved coursesPrevious year, Myschool report of ESUT’s notice (January 2025)

Radiography is one of ESUT’s newer programmes. In January 2025, Myschool reported that ESUT had invited applications into four courses newly approved by the National Universities Commission, Radiography among them, with a minimum of 200 and the three UTME sciences. The minimum has stayed at 200 in every session since, which makes it one of the steadier figures on ESUT’s list. It can still change, so check each year’s advert.

Legit.ng has published 263 as an ESUT Radiography “cut-off” for 2025. It cites no ESUT document and its numbers for other courses do not match ESUT’s adverts, so treat it as an unofficial estimate at best. ESUT itself has never published a merit figure for Radiography that I could find.

Safe target score for Radiography at ESUT (my advice)

This section is my advice, not ESUT’s rule. Radiography sits with Medical Laboratory Science in ESUT’s second tier of health courses, and it pulls in candidates who aimed for Medicine and Nursing and fell short. With a 200 floor, real competition is well above it.

Your 2026 UTME scoreMy read for ESUT Radiography
200 to 219Eligible for screening, but admission on merit is a long shot.
220 to 239Possible, stronger with B grades or better in the sciences.
240 to 259A good chance.
260 and aboveComfortable. This is where I would aim.

For a 2027 attempt, I would aim for 250 to 260 or more, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Physics matters more in Radiography than in most health courses, because the degree is built on radiation physics.

Catchment and state of origin

ESUT does not publish a catchment list. It is an Enugu State Government university, so Enugu indigenes are its primary catchment, though it admits candidates from all states. Don’t assume the federal 45/35/20 merit, catchment and ELDS split applies; ESUT has not said so.

JAMB subject combination and O’level requirements for ESUT Radiography

RequirementRadiography
UTME subjectsUse of English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology
O’levelFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Chemistry
SittingsNot stated in ESUT’s advert; most universities allow up to two. Confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure
Direct EntryTwo A’level passes from Physics, Chemistry and Biology (JAMB general entry). ESUT has not published its own DE grades
Special requirementsNone published by ESUT

These are the general requirements in the JAMB brochure entry for Radiography (Myschool reprint, checked 29 October 2026). The entry has special remarks for UNILAG, ABU, UNICAL, UNIMAID, UNIZIK and UNN, but none for ESUT, so the general rule applies to ESUT unless JAMB’s current e-brochure says otherwise. ESUT’s own 2024/2025 intake notice also asked for Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

How ESUT screening works for Radiography

ESUT ran its 2026/2027 screening on these terms.

Admission statusPublished on the ESUT portal and JAMB CAPS

ESUT has not published an aggregate formula. The 2026/2027 advert sets a minimum UTME score per course and an online screening with no test, and it says nothing about weights or O’level grade points. So the only arithmetic you can do with official figures is to check how far you are above your course’s minimum. Some blogs quote a Post-UTME percentage for ESUT; that cannot be right for 2026/2027, because there was no Post-UTME test to score.

Worked example for a Radiography candidate

Take Tobenna, who scored 235 in the 2026 UTME with A1, B2, B3, B3 and C4 in his five O’level subjects.

  1. Eligibility check (official): 235 minus the 200 minimum = 35 marks above the line.
  2. UTME half (illustrative method): 235 ÷ 8 = 29.38 out of 50.
  3. O’level half (illustrative method): 10 + 9 + 8 + 8 + 7 = 42 out of 50.
  4. Illustrative total: 29.38 + 42 = 71.38 out of 100.

Ifeoma scored 222 but has A1, A1, A1, B2 and B2. Her illustrative total is 27.75 + 48 = 75.75, ahead of Tobenna. If ESUT ranks by UTME alone, he is ahead instead. ESUT hasn’t said, so work on both.

To see why your O’level grades can still matter, here is a method some other Nigerian universities use: half the aggregate from the UTME (your score divided by 8, out of 50) and half from five O’level subjects (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5, out of 50). ESUT has not published this or any other formula. I use it only to compare two candidates, never to predict an ESUT cut-off.

How to apply for Radiography at ESUT, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN (for example NIN 12345678901) to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with the profile code you need to buy the UTME form.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: pick Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and choose ESUT and Radiography. ESUT’s 2026 advert also let candidates who chose another school apply after a JAMB change of institution, but choosing ESUT from the start saves you that step and its cost.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out, have it uploaded to your JAMB profile at an accredited CBT centre or JAMB office. ESUT’s advert makes this compulsory for every candidate, and a result that is missing on CAPS can hold your admission back even after ESUT picks you.
  4. Open the ESUT screening form: go to portal.esut.edu.ng, select the session, and under Regular Students open the Admission Screening Registration for that session (Direct Entry has its own form). Enter your JAMB registration number and fill the details form to generate an invoice.
  5. Pay ₦2,000: pay at a commercial bank through Enugu State IGR Pay Direct with the printed invoice and its reference number, or pay online with a debit card.
  6. Finish and print: return to the portal, re-enter your JAMB registration number, complete the form, confirm and submit, then print the acknowledgement slip. ESUT warns that false information leads to disqualification.
  7. Check and accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS and Admission Status. If ESUT has offered you Radiography, accept it, then print your JAMB admission letter.
  8. Pay the acceptance fee on the ESUT portal: blogs report ESUT’s acceptance fee at about ₦26,000 (₦26,100 in some reports). ESUT’s 2026/2027 notices I checked do not state it, so confirm the amount on the portal before you pay, and keep the receipt for clearance.

Warning

Paying ESUT’s acceptance fee does not accept your JAMB offer. Accept the admission on JAMB CAPS first, because an offer left unaccepted on CAPS can be withdrawn, and ESUT cannot register you without it.

Myschool reported that ESUT’s 2026/2027 admission list went up on JAMB CAPS on 13 October 2026. JAMB allows four weeks to accept an offer and told public universities to close admissions by 31 October 2026. Myschool also reported ESUT change of course and transfer forms for 2026/2027 on 28 October 2026; I have not seen their terms, so check the portal if CAPS shows a course you did not choose.

If a CAPS status confuses you, our JAMB CAPS guide explains each one. Candidates who chose another school can read the JAMB change of institution guide, and if you plan to sit the UTME again, start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts.

Studying Radiography at ESUT

Radiography is in ESUT’s Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. ESUT’s main campus is at Agbani, and its medical and health programmes are linked to the College of Medicine and ESUT Teaching Hospital, Parklane, Enugu. ESUT has not said on the pages I checked where Radiography lectures and clinical postings hold. In Nigeria the Bachelor of Radiography (B.Rad.) normally takes five years for UTME entrants; check ESUT’s handbook for the exact length.

  • Radiation physics and protection: how X-rays are produced and how to keep patients and staff safe.
  • Anatomy and physiology: the body you will be imaging.
  • Radiographic technique: positioning patients for chest, skeletal and contrast studies.
  • Imaging modalities: ultrasound, CT, MRI and an introduction to radiotherapy and nuclear medicine.
  • Image evaluation and patient care.
  • Clinical postings and a final-year project.

Accreditation and registration: to practise as a radiographer in Nigeria, graduates register with the Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN), which also visits university programmes to approve them. I did not find an RRBN accreditation result for ESUT Radiography, and the Enugu State Government’s 2025 report of full NUC accreditation at ESUT names other faculties, not Allied Health. Since the programme only took its first students in 2024/2025, ask the department about its NUC and RRBN status before you accept.

Career paths after Radiography

  • Diagnostic radiographer in public and private hospitals, after the internship year and RRBN registration.
  • Sonographer (ultrasound) or CT and MRI radiographer.
  • Radiotherapy and nuclear medicine units, often after further training.
  • Sales and application specialist roles with imaging equipment companies.
  • Postgraduate study and teaching in medical imaging.

Related ESUT courses with the same UTME subjects:

For the UTME, our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus show what to revise. Give Physics just as much time.

Mistakes Radiography applicants make

  • Treating 200 as the admission score: it only makes you eligible.
  • Trusting unsourced “cut-offs”: figures like 263 have no ESUT document behind them.
  • A weak Physics credit: it is required at O’level and you will need it all through the course.
  • Not asking about RRBN: your licence after graduation depends on it.
  • Skipping the CAPS upload: ESUT’s advert makes it compulsory.

ESUT cut off mark for Radiography: frequently asked questions

Is 230 enough for Radiography in ESUT? 230 clears ESUT’s 200 minimum by 30 marks and gives you a chance, but ESUT does not publish the final score, so it is not safe. Strong O’level science grades help; I would aim for 250 or more.

What is the difference between Radiography and Medical Radiography in ESUT? None for admission. ESUT’s 2026/2027 advert uses “Radiography” in its faculty list and “Medical Radiography” in its score list for the same course.

Is ESUT Radiography accredited by RRBN? I found no RRBN accreditation result for ESUT Radiography. The programme admitted its first students in 2024/2025, so ask the department for its current NUC and RRBN status.

How much is ESUT post-UTME form? The 2026/2027 screening fee was ₦2,000, paid through Enugu State IGR Pay Direct at a bank or online by debit card.

Sources and updates

The 2026/2027 minimum UTME scores per course, the screening rules (eligibility, change of institution, Direct Entry clearance, awaiting results up to 30 September 2026, compulsory O’level upload on CAPS, no test, ₦2,000 fee, 7 July to 15 August 2026 window, portal and payment steps) come from ESUT’s notice Post-UTME Screening for UTME/Direct Entry Candidates for 2026/2027 Admission, posted on 4 July 2026, and the full advert PDF signed by the Registrar, Ambrose G. Ugwu. The 2025/2026 per-course minimums are from DTW Tutorials’ summary of ESUT’s 2025/2026 screening notice (30 July 2025); I did not open the original notice. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline and the four-week CAPS acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria, 11 May 2026. The release of the 2026/2027 admission list on CAPS on 13 October 2026 is from a Myschool report. ESUT’s faculty-level NUC accreditation is from the Enugu State Government, 21 May 2025. The 2024/2025 intake into newly approved courses (Radiography, Public Health, Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Biomedical Engineering) and its 200 minimum for Radiography are from a Myschool report of 23 January 2025. The UTME, O’level and Direct Entry requirements are the general JAMB brochure entry for Radiography as reprinted by Myschool; it carries no ESUT remark. The 263 figure is from Legit.ng’s “ESUT cut-off mark for all courses” (updated 14 November 2025) and is unofficial. The acceptance fee of about ₦26,000 is from education blogs (Legit.ng, O3schools, Backtoschool) and is unofficial. ESUT has not published an aggregate formula, a catchment list or a post-screening departmental cut-off, so none appears here as fact. This page was checked on 29 October 2026 and will be updated if ESUT releases new figures.
