The UNIUYO Animal Science and Environmental Biology cut off mark for 2027 planning starts at 150 in the UTME. That is the only minimum the University of Uyo published for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and it applied to every course, Animal Science and Environmental Biology included, for candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice. UNIUYO did not publish a separate departmental cut-off for Animal Science and Environmental Biology.
2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Animal Science and Environmental Biology is the name UNIUYO uses in its 2026/2027 advert. JAMB’s list for UNIUYO still shows the older name, Animal and Environmental Biology, so look for that on your JAMB form and don’t confuse it with Animal Science in the Faculty of Agriculture. Below are the figures, a safe target, the subject rules and the screening steps.

UNIUYO Animal Science and Environmental Biology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to register for Post-UTME screening, UNIUYO as 1st choice | Official UNIUYO notice |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Minimum UTME score for screening, 1st choice | Reported (abstechconnect reprint, 15 Aug 2025); original not seen |
| 2025/2026 supplementary | 150 and above | For screening registrants not admitted into their first-choice course | Reported (Myschool, 18 Oct 2025) |
| 2023/2024 supplementary | 140 and above | For screening registrants not admitted into their first-choice course | Official UNIUYO notice signed by the Registrar |
Animal Science and Environmental Biology was one of the courses with vacancies in UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission (listed as “Animal and Environmental Biology”), which invited screening candidates with 140 and above who had missed their first-choice course. That tells you the course did not fill completely from first-choice applicants that year. Candidates with modest scores have had a path into this course before.
Some blogs print a list of UNIUYO departmental cut-offs with a number for each course. None of those lists points to a UNIUYO document, so I don’t use them here and I wouldn’t plan around them.
Why 150 is not the score that gets you admitted
UNIUYO fills this course on merit and does not publish its closing score. It usually draws fewer applicants than Microbiology or Biochemistry in the same faculty, and it had vacancies in the 2023/2024 supplementary exercise. Many of its students first applied for Medicine, Nursing or Microbiology and were moved across, which pushes the competition up a little in years when health courses are crowded.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed, and UNIUYO is a federal university. Late or supplementary offers can still show up on JAMB CAPS after a main list, so 2026 candidates should keep checking CAPS. For everyone else, the planning is for the 2027 UTME and the 2027/2028 session.
Safe target score for Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built on the 150 minimum, how Animal Science and Environmental Biology usually compares with other UNIUYO courses, and what supplementary notices have shown. It is not a UNIUYO rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for UNIUYO Animal Science and Environmental Biology |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible. UNIUYO only screened candidates with 150 or more. |
| 150 to 179 | Eligible and possible, depending on O’level grades and how many candidates apply that year. |
| 180 to 199 | Competitive. This is my safe target score. |
| 200 and above | Strong. You should be in a good position if your O’level and subjects are right. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. If you are applying as a first preference rather than a fallback from a health course, 180 to 200 with good science credits puts you in a solid position.
UTME subject combination and O’level for UNIUYO Animal Science and Environmental Biology
| Requirement | Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Biology and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (JAMB brochure, general rule) |
| O’level | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology and two other science subjects |
| UNIUYO remark | Credits in Mathematics and Chemistry are required; a D7 in Physics may be accepted |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE |
| Direct Entry | Two A level passes, or NCE, in Biology, Zoology or Botany and one other science subject |
The UNIUYO remark in Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure is specific: Chemistry and Mathematics must be credits, while Physics can be as low as D7. That is good news if Physics was your weakest science.
For the UTME, Biology with Chemistry and Physics is the safest set, since it also fits Microbiology, Biochemistry and Botany if you need a change of course later. Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics also meets the rule.
Direct Entry into Animal Science and Environmental Biology
Direct Entry candidates need two A level passes or an NCE in Biology, Zoology or Botany plus one other science. UNIUYO’s own Basic Studies programme is another way in at 200 level through DE, as described below.
How UNIUYO screening works
UNIUYO runs one Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening exercise for all courses. Here is what the 2026/2027 exercise looked like.
| Detail | UNIUYO 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose UNIUYO as 1st choice in the 2026 UTME and scored at least 150, and DE candidates who chose UNIUYO 1st |
| Portal | admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng |
| Fee | ₦2,000 through a Remita RRR (amount from reprints; the official page shows only the Remita method) |
| Documents | Uploaded as PDF on the portal |
| End result | A printed 2026/2027 Screening Exercise Slip |
| Test format | Not published in the notice, which says only “screening exercise” |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
| Closing date | Friday 7 August 2026 according to abstechconnect; not on the official page |
Because UNIUYO has not said whether the regular screening includes a written test, prepare as if there is one. Revise your four UTME subjects and keep your O’level result, UTME result slip and any other document the portal asks for ready as clear PDFs. The guidelines page on eportals.uniuyo.edu.ng is the place to check once the 2027/2028 form opens.
Worked example for an Animal Science and Environmental Biology candidate
UNIUYO has no published aggregate formula, so the useful calculation is the gap between your UTME score, the 150 minimum and the safe target. The figures below are illustrations, not UNIUYO results.
Take Idara, who scored 188 with B3 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B2 in Biology, B3 in Chemistry and D7 in Physics.
- Eligibility: 188 minus 150 = 38. Idara clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 38 marks.
- Against my safe target: 188 minus 180 = 8. Idara is 8 marks above the score I treat as competitive.
- O’level check: credits in Mathematics and Chemistry as UNIUYO requires, and the D7 in Physics is within UNIUYO’s remark.
- What I would advise: choose this course as a first preference rather than a fallback, and register for screening as soon as the portal opens.
Utibe scored 160. 160 minus 150 = 10, so he can register for screening. He is 20 marks under my target. He has a fair chance in a supplementary round if the course has spaces again.
How to apply for Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register for the UTME: choose Animal Science and Environmental Biology with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and make UNIUYO your first choice.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your results are out. UNIUYO cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
- Create your screening account: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng when the Post-UTME notice is out, create an account and verify your email.
- Pay the fee: generate a Remita RRR on the portal and pay (₦2,000 in 2026/2027, per reprints).
- Complete the form and print your slip: fill the application form, upload your documents in PDF and print the Screening Exercise Slip.
- Accept on CAPS: when an offer appears, log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in the official pages I reached, so confirm the amount on the UNIUYO portal before you pay anything.
Warning
UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 screening notice was open only to candidates who chose UNIUYO as first choice. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening form opens, or you may not be able to register at all. Pay only through the Remita RRR generated on the UNIUYO portal.
If you need to fix your choice of school or course, read our guides to JAMB change of institution and JAMB change of course.
Other ways into Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO
UNIUYO’s May 2026 advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, describes two one-year programmes that feed into degree courses.
- Basic Studies: open to all faculties. You need five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects, at not more than two sittings. Admission is usually through a CBT screening test, and no JAMB score is required. Successful students can move into 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course rules. The form cost ₦15,500 (the advert prints it as “N15,5000”).
- Pre-Degree: for science, agriculture and education programmes only. It needs five credits including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, and uses a CBT. The form cost ₦10,500. The advert’s wording on whether a UTME score is needed contradicts itself, so ask the admissions office before you rely on this route.
For 2026/2027, registration for both closed on 30 September 2026 and the screening test was set for 27 October to 7 November 2026. Expect similar timing in 2027, but wait for the new advert.
Studying Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO
The course is in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Biological Sciences. A B.Sc. in a biological science normally takes four years in Nigeria, including industrial training; UNIUYO’s own duration was not confirmed in the pages I reached.
Accreditation
NUC’s accreditation report lists University of Uyo Zoology with Full accreditation (87.60%) after a visit on 8 to 10 December 2024. NUC’s name for the programme differs from the advert’s, so I take it to be this department under its older name, but confirm with the department. I found no separate report under the new name.
What you study

Mistakes that cost Animal Science and Environmental Biology applicants a UNIUYO place
- Applying for Animal Science instead: that is an agriculture degree in another faculty.
- A pass in Chemistry: UNIUYO’s remark asks for a credit in Chemistry and Mathematics.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it is only the minimum to register for screening.
- Making UNIUYO your second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened 1st-choice candidates only.
- No O’level on CAPS: an offer cannot be completed without it.
- Ignoring the supplementary exercise: UNIUYO has run one in past sessions for candidates who missed their first-choice course.
If you are writing the UTME again, see when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result and use the score.
UNIUYO Animal Science and Environmental Biology cut off mark: frequently asked questions
Is Animal and Environmental Biology the same as Animal Science and Environmental Biology at UNIUYO? They appear to be the same department: the 2026 advert uses the new name and JAMB’s list still shows the old one. Confirm on your JAMB e-brochure.
Can I get admission into UNIUYO Animal and Environmental Biology with D7 in Physics? UNIUYO’s brochure remark says it may accept D7 in Physics, provided Mathematics and Chemistry are credits.
Is 170 enough for Animal and Environmental Biology in UNIUYO? It clears the 150 minimum and is close to my 180 target, so it is a reasonable score with good O’level grades.
Is UNIUYO Zoology accredited? NUC lists University of Uyo Zoology with full accreditation after a December 2024 visit. Ask the department to confirm that this covers the renamed course.
Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the 1st-choice rule, the Remita payment and the portal steps come from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME/Direct Entry screening notice on uniuyo.edu.ng (the page carries a reused 2023/2024 web address). Myschool’s reprint of 5 June 2026 also gives 150 and the ₦2,000 fee. The 2023/2024 figure of 140 is from UNIUYO’s 2023/2024 supplementary admission notice, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie; the 2025/2026 figures are reported by abstechconnect (15 August 2025) and Myschool (18 October 2025). The Basic Studies and Pre-Degree details are from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies and Pre-Degree advert (May 2026). The national minimum of 150 and the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The subject rules and UNIUYO’s O’level remark are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure for Animal and Environmental Biology. The accreditation result is from NUC’s accreditation report for University of Uyo Zoology (Full, 87.60%, visit 8 to 10 December 2024). The safe target score is my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated if UNIUYO publishes a departmental cut-off or a 2027/2028 notice.
