UNIUYO Agricultural Science Education Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

UNIUYO’s only published minimum for Agricultural Science Education is 150 in the UTME, with UNIUYO as first choice. See the safe target score, JAMB subjects and O’level rules, NUC status, screening and CAPS steps for 2027/2028.

The UNIUYO Agricultural Science Education cut off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME, and only if UNIUYO is your first choice. That is the single minimum the University of Uyo published for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and it applies to every course. UNIUYO does not publish a separate departmental cut-off for Agricultural Science Education, so the score that actually wins a place is higher and changes each year.

2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

It sits in the Faculty of Vocational Education, Library and Information Science, not the main Faculty of Education, and that matters when you search for it on the portal. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice, clearly labelled), the JAMB subjects and O’level rules from the JAMB brochure, what NUC’s records show, how screening works, and the CAPS steps.

Any yearNot publishedA departmental or merit cut-off for Agricultural Science EducationFigures on blogs are not from UNIUYO

The supplementary list is the most useful clue UNIUYO gives about demand. In 2023/2024 the university invited candidates who had missed their first-choice course to switch into programmes with “limited vacancies”, and Agricultural Science Education was not on that list. My reading is that it filled in the main round, which is why I set the safe target higher than for the courses that did appear.

Several blogs print “UNIUYO departmental cut-off marks” with a figure for every course. I could not find a UNIUYO document behind any of them, so I don’t repeat those numbers here.

Safe target score for Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on the course’s popularity, the supplementary list and how federal universities usually fill places. It is not a UNIUYO rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for UNIUYO Agricultural Science Education
Below 150Not eligible to screen at UNIUYO
150 to 159Eligible, but weak on merit; your realistic hope is a related course or a supplementary round
160 to 179Possible with strong O’level grades from one sitting
180 to 204Competitive
205 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, with credits at B3 or better in the subjects named for the course.

First choice and catchment

UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 notice opened screening only to candidates who chose UNIUYO first in the UTME (and, for Direct Entry, in JAMB DE). It says nothing about second-choice candidates, so don’t plan on that route. As a federal university, UNIUYO is expected to follow JAMB’s general admission guideline of merit, catchment and educationally less developed states, but it has not published its own split or catchment list, so I would not count on catchment to rescue a low score.

JAMB subject combination and O’level for Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO

RequirementAgricultural Science Education at UNIUYO
UTME subjectsUse of English plus any three of Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, Physics, Economics, Geography and Mathematics
UNIUYO UTME remarkThere is no UNIUYO remark on the UTME line
My recommended UTME setEnglish, Agricultural Science, Biology and Chemistry
O’level (JAMB general line)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and one other relevant subject
O’level (UNIUYO remark)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics and Chemistry, plus any two of Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics and Geography
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO, NABTEB or GCE
SittingsNot stated in UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 notice; one sitting is safer in a competitive pool

UNIUYO’s O’level remark makes Chemistry compulsory. JAMB’s general line lets you offer Biology or Agricultural Science without saying more about Chemistry, but UNIUYO’s remark puts it beside English and Mathematics. Many agriculture-minded candidates are weak in Chemistry, so check this first.

These lines come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure, which I checked on 3 November 2026. JAMB’s own e-brochure on your profile is the final word, so read the UNIUYO remark there before you register for the 2027 UTME. Once you register, you cannot change your subjects.

Direct Entry into Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO

  • JAMB’s general rule: Two A-level passes in Biology, Zoology or Botany plus another science; NCE merit in Biology plus another science; or NCE merit in Agriculture (double major).
  • UNIUYO remark: UNIUYO’s own Direct Entry remark accepts (a) an NCE in relevant subjects with an overall merit pass or better; (b) A-level GCE, A-level NABTEB or JUPEB passes in two relevant subjects; or (c) a National Diploma at lower credit or better in an area related to Agricultural Education.
  • Screening: UNIUYO screened DE candidates who chose UNIUYO first in JAMB Direct Entry, alongside UTME candidates, in 2026/2027.

NUC accreditation: what the record shows

NUC’s accreditation report for Agricultural Science Education at the University of Uyo shows Interim accreditation with a programme score of 72.80%. The panel visited in 27 November 2024. You can read the result on the NUC report page.

Interim is not a failing grade. The programme can keep admitting students, but the panel found gaps that must be fixed before NUC returns, usually within two years. If interim status worries you, ask the department what has been done since the 2024 visit before you pay acceptance.

Aggregate formulaNot published

Because UNIUYO does not publish its test format or formula, anyone who tells you exactly how Agricultural Science Education candidates are ranked is guessing. What you control is the size of your UTME score, the quality and number of your O’level sittings, and whether your documents are in order.

Worked example for an Agricultural Science Education candidate

Take Nsikak, who scored 188 in the UTME with B3 in English, C5 in Mathematics, C4 in Chemistry, B2 in Agricultural Science and C4 in Biology, two sittings.

  1. Eligibility: 188 minus 150 = 38. Nsikak clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 38 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 188 minus 180 = 8. Nsikak is 8 marks above the score I would call competitive.
  3. O’level check: the right subjects are covered, so nothing in the brochure rules Nsikak out.
  4. Illustration only: many Nigerian universities convert the UTME to a mark out of 50 by dividing by 8 and add a screening score out of 50. On that method Nsikak’s UTME is worth 23.5 points. UNIUYO has not said it uses this method; I show it because it explains why every 8 UTME marks is worth one aggregate point.

Aniebiet scored 153. 153 minus 150 = 3, so Aniebiet can register for screening, but on the same illustrative method the UTME is worth 19.1 points, 4.4 behind Nsikak before any screening score is added. Unless the course has vacancies late in the cycle, Aniebiet should keep an eye on CAPS for a transfer offer to a related course and be ready to accept it.

How to apply for Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Agricultural Science Education (listed on JAMB as “Agricultural Science and Education”), make UNIUYO your first choice, and register English with Agricultural Science, Biology and Chemistry.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited CBT centre once your results are out. UNIUYO cannot admit you on CAPS without it.
  4. Create a screening account: when UNIUYO’s Post-UTME notice opens, go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng, create an account and verify it.
  5. Pay with Remita: generate the RRR on the portal and pay the screening fee (₦2,000 in 2026/2027, as reported).
  6. Complete the form and print: fill in your details, upload your documents in PDF, submit and print the Screening Exercise Slip.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer within the window JAMB allows (four weeks, per JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting).
  8. Pay acceptance and clear: UNIUYO did not publish its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Pay only through the UNIUYO portal and keep every receipt for clearance.

Warning

UNIUYO’s notice limited screening to candidates who chose UNIUYO first. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening opens. Every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB says admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so never pay anyone for a “slot”.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. UNIUYO is a federal university, so its main 2026/2027 round has closed under JAMB’s timetable, although late or supplementary offers can still show up on CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status, and JAMB change of institution covers moving UNIUYO to first choice.

Other routes into Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO

Basic Studies (one year, no JAMB score)

UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs. Blossom E. Okorie, in May 2026, lists every degree course by faculty, including Agricultural Science Education. Basic Studies needs five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings, and no JAMB score. Admission is usually through a CBT screening test, and students who pass can enter 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course criteria. The fee was printed as “N15,5000”, which I read as ₦15,500. Registration closed on 30 September 2026 and the main screening test was set for 27 October to 7 November 2026.

UNIUYO also runs a one-year Pre-Degree programme for science, agriculture and education courses (fee ₦10,500). Its advert contradicts itself on JAMB scores, so ask the admissions office before you rely on any figure from it.

Supplementary admission

In 2023/2024, UNIUYO let screened candidates who missed their first-choice course apply for a programme with vacancies, provided their UTME and O’level subjects matched the new course. The window ran from 28 September to 6 October 2023 on the e-portal. A 2025/2026 supplementary exercise was also reported. If Agricultural Science Education is not your first love but fits your subjects, this is where it can save your year.

Studying Agricultural Science Education at UNIUYO

Agricultural Science Education is in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Vocational Education, Library and Information Science. UNIUYO’s pages I reached do not state the degree title or length. Through the UTME, Nigerian education degrees normally take four years, and Direct Entry students usually start at 200 level. Graduates who want to teach register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

What you study

  • Crop production, soil science and farm management
  • Animal production and fisheries basics
  • Agricultural economics and extension: getting new methods to farmers
  • Agricultural mechanisation and farm practice on the school farm
  • Teaching methods for agricultural science, curriculum studies and educational psychology
  • Teaching practice and a final-year project

Careers

  • Agricultural Science teacher in secondary schools
  • Agricultural extension officer with state ministries or development programmes
  • Farm manager or founder of a small agribusiness
  • Trainer in youth farming and skills programmes
  • Postgraduate study in agricultural education or extension

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus. If you are weighing UNIUYO against another federal university in the South-South, our UNICAL cut-off mark guide is a useful comparison.

Mistakes that cost Agricultural Science Education applicants a UNIUYO place

  • No Chemistry credit: UNIUYO’s remark names Chemistry, English and Mathematics as fixed.
  • Looking for the course under the Faculty of Education: it is listed under Vocational Education, Library and Information Science.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it only lets you register for screening.
  • UNIUYO as second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened first-choice candidates only.
  • O’level not on CAPS: without it, UNIUYO cannot offer you admission.
  • Ignoring CAPS: an offer you do not accept in time can be lost, and a transfer offer to a related course needs a quick decision.

If your 2026 score was not enough, see what to do with your JAMB score and how JAMB change of course works.
