The Ritman University Physics cut off mark for 2027/2028 is, in practice, the JAMB national minimum of 150 for universities. Ritman University, a private university in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, has not published a separate cut-off for Physics: Ritman’s admissions page does not print a number. It only asks candidates to meet the UTME cut-off for their chosen course. As with Biology, Ritman’s newest programme list shows newer physics degrees in place of plain Physics, so read the registration section before you choose.
2027/2028 update: Ritman cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Ritman has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
JAMB still lists Physics for Ritman and NUC lists it with Full accreditation. Ritman’s October 2025 notice instead lists Applied Geophysics, Medical Physics and Physics with Electronics. Below I explain how to register, the subjects, a safe target score, the CBT screening and the CAPS steps.

Does Ritman still run a Physics degree?
Ritman’s faculties page lists Physics among its older programmes, NUC’s accreditation results show Ritman’s Physics with Full accreditation due again in 2028, and JAMB’s course list for Ritman carries Physics.
Ritman’s admission notice of 21 October 2025 does not list a B.Sc. Physics. Under the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences it lists B.Sc. Applied Geophysics, B.Sc. Medical Physics and B.Sc. Physics with Electronics. Ritman has not said whether these replace Physics or run beside it.
Physics is the only physics course on JAMB’s list for Ritman, so register it and tell Ritman at screening which of the three newer degrees you want. Ask the admissions office to confirm the name your degree will carry before you accept.

Ritman’s admissions page still says, in its JUPEB section, that JUPEB suits candidates who scored below 140. That figure is an older JAMB floor. For 2026 JAMB set 150 as the minimum for universities, so I would not plan with 140 for Physics or any other Ritman course.
Safe target score for Physics at Ritman (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Ritman University does not publish merit lists or the lowest score it admitted, so the bands below are planning ranges.

Physics and its applied forms are among the least crowded science courses in Nigeria. For 2027 I would aim for 155 or more, ideally 175, with good credits in Mathematics and Physics.

JAMB’s line makes Physics and Mathematics compulsory in the UTME. If you want Medical Physics, I would add Chemistry and keep a Biology credit at O’level, which suits health-related physics.
Further Mathematics counts as the fifth O’level science, which helps students from schools that offer it.
Direct Entry into Physics
JAMB’s brochure line for Direct Entry: an NCE or two A-level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry. Ritman’s own rule: five O’level credits including English and Mathematics (two sittings at most), plus OND, NCE, IJMB or A-level for 200 level entry (Ritman admissions page). Register Direct Entry with JAMB, not only on the Ritman portal; a DE offer still has to appear on CAPS.
How Ritman screening works for Physics
Ritman screens UTME and Direct Entry candidates with a computer-based test (CBT). Candidates apply online at applicant.safapply.com/ritmanuniversity, sit the test, and those offered admission then go through an ICT training and orientation programme. The admissions page warns that false entries on the online form can lead to disqualification. Ritman has not published the CBT’s subjects, length or pass mark.
A 2025/2026 blog summary (Myschoolgist) said the form and screening cost ₦10,000 and that candidates brought a passport photograph, their JAMB result slip and the payment evidence to an aptitude test. Ritman has not confirmed that amount on any page I could open, so confirm it on the portal before paying.
Worked example for a Physics candidate
Ritman has not published how it weighs the UTME against its CBT. Many Nigerian universities convert both to a score out of 100 by dividing the UTME by 8 (up to 50 marks) and scaling the screening test to 50. I use that method below only as an illustration; it is not a Ritman formula.
- UTME: Akpan scored 160. 160 divided by 8 = 20.00 out of 50.
- CBT: suppose Akpan scores 66% on Ritman’s test. Half of that is 33.0 out of 50.
- Illustrative aggregate: 20.00 + 33.0 = 53.00 out of 100.
- Margin over the floor: 160 minus 150 = 10 marks above JAMB’s minimum, and 5 marks above my safe target of 155.
- What I would advise: he is eligible and above my target. He should register Physics on JAMB and name Physics with Electronics or Applied Geophysics at screening.
Admission odds for Physics at Ritman
A score of 155 or more, the right O’level credits and a fair CBT result should be enough for a physics place at Ritman. Settle the course-name question before accepting on CAPS.
- Choose Ritman first: Ritman also accepts candidates through a JAMB change of institution, according to its October 2025 notice.
- Upload O’level early: no university can give you admission on CAPS without your results there.
- Apply before the private-university deadline: JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for private universities, so the 2026/2027 exercise runs until that date.
- Keep a second option: if you also hold a strong score, apply to a public university in the next cycle as well.
How to apply for Physics at Ritman, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: Use of English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry (or Biology), under the course name Physics, with Ritman University as your first choice. Ritman also takes change of institution candidates.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your results are out. Check that the grades show correctly.
- Apply on the Ritman portal: applicant.safapply.com/ritmanuniversity. Fill the form with the same names as on your JAMB and O’level records.
- Sit the CBT screening: bring what the portal asks for, which blogs say includes your JAMB slip and a passport photograph.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer and print your JAMB admission letter. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.
- Pay acceptance and register: pay only through the invoice the portal generates, then complete clearance and the ICT orientation.
Note
Ritman’s newest programme list shows Applied Geophysics, Medical Physics and Physics with Electronics, not a plain Physics degree. Register Physics on JAMB, then get Ritman to confirm in writing which degree you are being admitted into before you pay acceptance.
Fees for Physics at Ritman
Ritman’s Pay Fees page carries a revised fee schedule for the 2024/2025 session, posted as two images. I could not read the amounts from it, and no 2026/2027 schedule was published there when I checked. Ask the admissions office (info@ritmanuniversity.edu.ng) for the current Physics tuition before you accept an offer.
Studying Physics at Ritman
Physics and the three newer physics degrees sit in Ritman’s Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. A B.Sc. in a physics field normally runs for four years in Nigeria.
About Ritman University
Ritman University is a private university on Umuahia Road, Ikot Ekpene. NUC licensed it on 5 March 2015 and teaching began in November 2015. Its vice-chancellor since 2 October 2025 is Prof. Akan B. Williams. Its news post of 6 October 2026 says NUC has approved 22 new programmes, taking Ritman from 3 faculties to 6 (Allied Health Sciences, Computing, Environmental Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Social and Management Sciences) and to 40 programmes in all. That post does not date the approvals, and Ritman’s admission notice of 21 October 2025 already listed 40 NUC-approved programmes, so they were in place by late 2025. The same news post reports Full NUC accreditation for English, History and International Studies, and Industrial Chemistry. For a family weighing Ritman, that means a small, growing campus where many departments are new.

Accreditation
NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 list Ritman’s Physics as Full, with the next accreditation due in 2028. The three newer degrees do not appear separately in that list, which runs to 2025, so their own accreditation is not confirmed.
Full accreditation means the programme met NUC’s standards at its last visit, so the degree is recognised for NYSC and further study. Programmes are re-visited when the period runs out.
Careers
Physics graduates work in oil and gas exploration (especially with geophysics), telecoms and electronics, power and renewable energy, meteorology, teaching and research. Medical Physics leads towards radiotherapy and imaging departments after further training.
