There is no published Peaceland College of Education Economics Education cut off mark for 2027/2028, and under the 2026 rules NCE candidates with at least four O’level credits do not write the UTME. JAMB lists Peaceland College of Education, Enugu for three Economics pairings: Economics/Geography, Economics/Political Science and Economics/Social Studies. You still register with JAMB for NCE, and the offer only counts once it appears on CAPS.
2027/2028 update: Peaceland College of Education admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the position on this page is what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. It comes from the latest official position (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 rules change anything, we will update this page.
Peaceland has not published a departmental minimum, a screening score or subject rules for Economics in any source I reached. This page uses what is on record from JAMB and the college’s adverts, and labels my own advice clearly.

Peaceland has never published a cut-off mark for Economics Education on its own. The 140 figure in 2024 covered every form the college was selling that year, including its degree programme, which no longer takes new students (more on that below). The 100 figure was JAMB’s floor for all colleges of education in 2025/2026. For 2026/2027 the score question mostly disappears, because NCE candidates with four credits are not asked to write the UTME.
Do you need JAMB or UTME for Economics Education at Peaceland College of Education?
You need JAMB. You do not need the UTME, as long as you hold at least four O’level credit passes. Three official statements in 2026 set this out:
- 11 May 2026: at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, said NCE candidates with a minimum of four credit passes will no longer sit the UTME. They must still register with JAMB, and their results are checked through CAPS before any admission letter is issued.
- June 2026: JAMB’s NCE registration guide set out the fees and the CAPS process, and said no 100 level or 200 level degree admission into any college of education is allowed from 2026/2027, affiliated degrees included. Everyone who enters a college of education now enters through NCE.
- 23 July 2026: NCE registration without UTME opened at Institutional Professional Registration Centres (IPRCs) in colleges of education and at JAMB professional registration centres.
On timing, Nairametrics reported on 11 May 2026 that the exemption would take effect from the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s June 2026 guide and Legit’s 23 July 2026 report show it was already being used for 2026 admissions. For a 2027/2028 candidate both readings point the same way: if you are going for NCE, you do not write the UTME.
What JAMB charges for NCE registration
| Item | Amount | Who pays it |
|---|---|---|
| O’level verification code, one sitting | ₦1,500 | Every NCE applicant (bought from the exam body) |
| O’level verification code, two sittings | ₦2,000 | Applicants combining two results |
| JAMB NCE application fee | ₦3,500 | New NCE applicants who did not register for the 2026 UTME |
| CBT or IPRC centre charge | ₦700 | Every NCE applicant |
| Moving a 2026 UTME application to NCE | ₦700 only | UTME candidates whose first choice was a college of education |
These are JAMB’s 2026/2027 amounts. The 2027/2028 guide may change them, so confirm the figure at the centre before you pay. Peaceland’s own form, if it sells one, is a separate charge the college has not published.
Safe target for Economics Education at Peaceland (my advice)
This is my judgement. Peaceland has not said how it ranks NCE applicants.
Economics leans on Mathematics more than most arts and social science subjects, through graphs, elasticity and simple calculations. So your Mathematics grade matters as much as your Economics grade. My reading:
| Your O’level position | My read for Economics at Peaceland |
|---|---|
| Fewer than four credits | Not eligible for the no-UTME route; resit first |
| Credit in Economics but not in Mathematics | Weak; you will struggle with the quantitative side |
| Five credits including English, Mathematics, Economics and the partner subject, two sittings | Meets the usual college of education standard |
| Five or more credits in one sitting, with B grades in Economics and Mathematics | Strong. This is what I would aim for |
If you are also sitting the 2027 UTME for a university Economics place, the 2026 university minimum was 150. Peaceland’s NCE admission does not use that score, and JAMB will not process you for both routes at once.
The three Economics pairings and the credits each needs
| Combination | Credits I would have (besides English and Mathematics) | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Economics/Geography | Economics, Geography, Commerce or Government | Candidates who like both maps and markets |
| Economics/Political Science | Economics, Government, Civic Education or History | Candidates strong in Government |
| Economics/Social Studies | Economics, Government or Civic Education, Geography | Future junior secondary teachers, since Social Studies is taught widely there |
These lists are my advice from general college of education practice. Peaceland has not published subject rules. The federal exemption speaks of four credits without naming subjects; colleges usually expect five including English and Mathematics. Five is the safer plan.
If you want accounting, office work and business subjects rather than economic theory, look at Peaceland Business Education instead. It is a separate vocational course on the college’s JAMB list.
O’level and UTME summary
| Requirement | Economics Education at Peaceland |
|---|---|
| UTME | Not required for NCE candidates with at least four credits (2026 policy) |
| O’level (Peaceland’s own rule) | Not published in any source reached |
| O’level (usual rule) | Five credits at no more than two sittings, including English, Mathematics, Economics and your partner subject (general practice) |
| UTME subjects, only if you write UTME anyway | Use of English, Economics and two of Government, Geography, Mathematics or Commerce, depending on the pairing (JAMB’s usual pattern; confirm on the e-brochure) |
| Awaiting results | Cannot be proposed on CAPS until the result is uploaded |
| Direct Entry | No 100 or 200 level degree entry into any college of education from 2026/2027 |
Worked example for an Economics applicant (illustrative)
Peaceland has not published an aggregate formula. These made-up cases show how to check yourself against the rules.
Somtochukwu has one NECO sitting: English C5, Mathematics B3, Economics B2, Government B3, Commerce C4, Civic Education C5, Biology C6 and Literature D7. She wants Economics/Political Science.
- Credit count: seven credits, above the four-credit exemption rule.
- Five-credit check: English and Mathematics both credited, one sitting.
- Subject check: B2 in Economics and B3 in Government. A strong file for this pairing.
- Process: NECO verification code (₦1,500), NCE registration with Peaceland as first choice (₦3,500 plus ₦700), then the CAPS proposal and the Provost’s recommendation.
Uchenna has two WAEC sittings. Across them he has English C6, Mathematics C6, Economics C5, Geography C4 and Civic Education C6, but Government is D7. Economics/Geography suits him better than Economics/Political Science. His two-sitting verification code costs ₦2,000, and both results must be uploaded for CAPS to check them.
Your chances of admission into Economics Education at Peaceland
Peaceland does not publish applicant numbers. Economics tends to be a popular social science choice, so I would expect more competition than for the pure sciences. In my judgement, credits in English, Mathematics, Economics and the partner subject from one sitting put you in a good position.
- Make Peaceland your first choice. JAMB sends NCE registrations to the first-choice college.
- Do not ignore Mathematics. A weak Mathematics grade is the commonest gap in Economics files.
- Ask which pairings are running. A pairing on JAMB’s list may not admit every session.
- Accept on CAPS quickly. Offers not accepted within four weeks can be withdrawn.
How to apply for Economics Education at Peaceland College of Education, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Buy your O’level verification code: from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or NBAIS. JAMB lists ₦1,500 for one sitting and ₦2,000 for two. Write down the exam year, exam number and subjects exactly as on your result.
- Register for NCE at a JAMB centre or IPRC: pay ₦3,500 plus the ₦700 centre charge, choose Peaceland College of Education, Enugu as your first choice and pick your Economics pairing. Your biometrics are captured and you get a slip.
- Make sure your O’level is on CAPS: your results and verification code must be uploaded, because CAPS checks them against the exam body’s record. A candidate marked Awaiting Results cannot be proposed until the result is uploaded.
- Already registered for UTME? If a college of education was your first choice, JAMB moves you to NCE and you pay ₦700 only. Once you are recommended for NCE, your UTME process is suspended, so you cannot run both.
- Fill Peaceland’s own form if it asks for one: the college has not published a portal address or form price in any source I reached. The “portal” link in Myschool’s 2026/2027 report points to Myschool’s own page for the college. Confirm with the college in Enugu before you pay anyone.
- Wait for the proposal and recommendation: under JAMB’s guide, the college proposes you on CAPS, the Provost recommends you, and JAMB then checks your O’level before the offer shows.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept within four weeks or the offer can be withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay the acceptance fee and register: Peaceland has not published its acceptance or school fees. Pay only through the channel on your admission letter or the college’s official notice.
If you are still chasing a 2026/2027 place, JAMB’s admission window for colleges of education runs until 31 December 2026. Candidates planning for 2027/2028 should watch for the next NCE registration notice and register with Peaceland as first choice from the start.
Warning
The Federal Government has said any admission done outside JAMB CAPS is illegal. If someone offers you a Peaceland College of Education place that never shows on CAPS, or asks for money to “process” one, do not pay.
About Peaceland College of Education, Enugu
Peaceland College of Education is a private college of education in Enugu. It appears as “Peaceland College of Education, Enugu” on the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE) list of accredited colleges, where it is shown as open, with Rev. Fr. Dr. Leo Ilechukwu named as Provost. A business directory gives its address as 1 Old Path Close, opposite ESUT MSP, by Nkpokiti Junction, Independence Layout, Enugu, and says it was set up in 2014; I could not confirm either detail on a college page, so check before you travel.
It is a different institution from Peaceland University, Enugu. The names are close and some blogs mix them up, but the university admits degree students with UTME scores, while the college runs NCE. A Peaceland University form is not a Peaceland College of Education form.
In its 2026/2027 advert, as reported by Myschool on 18 July 2026, the college offered NCE, the Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) and part-time study, and described its courses as fully accredited. The advert did not give requirements, prices or dates. Its 2024/2025 advert also offered a degree programme. Blogs have linked that degree to Abia State University, and a directory links the college to Anambra State University; neither link was confirmed. Since JAMB has stopped new degree admissions into colleges of education from 2026/2027, plan to take any degree at a university after your NCE.
Accreditation
NCE programmes are regulated by the NCCE. The college is on the NCCE accredited list, but I could not confirm the accreditation status of each Economics Education combination, so I am not claiming it. Ask the college for the current NCCE status of your exact combination before you accept an offer.
Studying NCE Economics Education at Peaceland College of Education
NCE normally takes three years full time. Peaceland has not published an Economics course outline, so this is a general description of NCE Economics.
- Economic theory: demand and supply, production, costs, market structures, money and banking.
- Applied topics: the Nigerian economy, public finance, international trade and development.
- Quantitative methods: basic statistics, graphs and simple economic calculations.
- Your partner subject: Geography, Political Science or Social Studies, studied in full.
- Education courses and teaching practice: methods of teaching, psychology, curriculum studies and supervised teaching.
Careers and further study
- Teaching: Social Studies and your partner subject in primary and junior secondary schools, where NCE holders are mainly employed. The NCE is Nigeria’s minimum teaching qualification.
- Registration: with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
- Degree later: Economics is mainly a senior secondary subject, so I would plan on a B.Sc (Ed) Economics at a university if you want to teach it at that level.
- Other work: cooperative societies, microfinance front-desk roles and small business administration.

Mistakes that cost Economics applicants a Peaceland place
- Confusing Economics Education with Business Education: they are separate courses on JAMB’s list.
- Applying for Economics/Political Science without a Government credit: pick the pairing your grades support.
- Buying a Peaceland University form: the university and the college are different institutions.
- Paying through an unverified link: the college has not published a portal or form price in any source reached.
- Leaving the CAPS offer unaccepted: it can be withdrawn after four weeks.
