Lux Mundi University Cut-Off Mark for Accountancy and Forensic Studies 2027/2028: Requirements, Subject Combination and Screening

Lux Mundi University has not published a cut-off for Accountancy and Forensic Studies, so JAMB’s 150 is the floor. See the safe target, JAMB subjects, O’level, the course-name issue and how to apply.

Lux Mundi University, Umuahia, has not published a cut-off mark for Accountancy and Forensic Studies. The score that applies is JAMB’s national minimum for universities, 150 for 2026/2027, and Lux Mundi did not announce its own cut-offs at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. Accounting courses fill quickly at most universities, so I would plan for at least 180 rather than relying on 150.

2027/2028 update: Lux Mundi University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Programme check: Accountancy and Forensic Studies appears on the JAMB-style course list for Lux Mundi University published by universitycourses.ng (last modified 24 February 2026). Lux Mundi’s own website could not be read, and I found no official Lux Mundi programme list or minimum score list for 2026/2027, so the university has not confirmed this course or a score for it in any source I could reach. There is also a naming issue. The JAMB brochure entry I could find is called Accountancy/Accounting, and I found no separate brochure entry named Accountancy and Forensic Studies. When you register, select exactly the course name JAMB’s portal shows under Lux Mundi University, and make sure it is the same name you use with the university. Before you pay for anything, ask the admissions office to confirm in writing that it is admitting into Accountancy and Forensic Studies for your session.

Below you will find the score situation and my safe target, the subject combination and O’level credits from JAMB’s Accounting line, Direct Entry, what Lux Mundi has published about screening, accreditation, what the forensic part of the degree means, and how to apply.

Safe target score for Accountancy at Lux Mundi (my advice)

This section is my own judgement, because Lux Mundi has published no applicant numbers or past admission scores. Accounting is the most requested Management Sciences course in Nigeria, and private universities in Abia that publish course figures put it above 150: Nigerian British University asks for 160. A new university with a small intake can still fill a popular course before the deadline.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Lux Mundi Accountancy and Forensic Studies
Below 150Not eligible for any 2026/2027 university place
150 to 169Legally eligible. Apply early and confirm with the university that places remain
170 to 179Fair chance with a complete O’level
180 and aboveMy safe target. Comfortable for Lux Mundi
200 and aboveStrong. You can also compete for Accounting at public universities

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 180 or more. If you end up nearer 150, Lux Mundi’s Banking and Finance and Business Administration take the same subjects, so ask the admissions office about them before you change course.

Accountancy and Forensic Studies subject combination and O’level requirements

I used JAMB’s Accountancy/Accounting entry on Myschool reprint of the brochure, the closest match to the course name. It carries no Lux Mundi remark and does not mention forensic studies, so these are JAMB’s general rules. Confirm on JAMB’s e-brochure under Lux Mundi before you register.

RequirementJAMB general line (Accountancy/Accounting)
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics, Economics and any Social Science subject
Good third subjectGovernment, Commerce or Financial Accounting (confirm the university accepts Commerce or Accounting)
O’level creditsFive, including English Language, Mathematics and Economics, plus two other subjects
NBC holdersMay use relevant commercial subjects such as Principles of Accounts or Commerce for the two extra credits
SittingsJAMB allows up to two; Lux Mundi has not published its own rule
Direct EntryTwo A level passes from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government or Geography
Lux Mundi remarkNone in the brochure

Points Accounting applicants get wrong

  • No Economics credit: JAMB’s general Accounting line needs Economics at O’level and in the UTME. A strong score in Commerce or Financial Accounting does not replace it in the general rule.
  • Weak Mathematics: a pass (D7 or E8) in Mathematics rules you out of every Accounting course.
  • Registering a science third subject: the general line asks for a Social Science subject. Some universities accept others, but Lux Mundi has no remark, so stay with a Social Science subject.
  • Choosing a different course name: pick the course exactly as JAMB lists it under Lux Mundi, so your CAPS record matches the university’s list.

Direct Entry

JAMB’s general line is two A level passes from Economics, Accounting, Business Management, Government or Geography. Several universities also accept ND, HND or professional passes (ICAN or ATS stages, for example) through their own remarks, but Lux Mundi has none, so ask the university which Direct Entry qualifications it takes and at what level DE students start. You still need the O’level credits above.

Lux Mundi screening for Accountancy: what has been published

No official screening notice. I found no Lux Mundi Post-UTME form, fee, test date or aggregate formula for 2026/2027, and its website could not be read. Online adverts claiming that forms are on sale come from private phone numbers.

Worked example

Ngozi scored 186 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Government. Her WAEC (one sitting) has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Government and Commerce.

  1. Legal floor: 186 is above JAMB’s 150.
  2. My safe target: 186 clears 180.
  3. UTME subjects: Mathematics, Economics and Government match the general line.
  4. O’level: English, Mathematics and Economics plus two others, in one sitting. She qualifies.

Illustration only: under the common 50:50 aggregate used by many universities, 186 divided by 8 gives 23.25 of 50 UTME points, with screening or O’level points making up the rest. Lux Mundi has published no formula, so this only helps you compare yourself with other candidates.

Kelechi scored 165 with English, Mathematics, Economics and Physics. His score is legal, but Physics is not a Social Science subject in JAMB’s general line. He should ask Lux Mundi whether it accepts his combination before applying, and consider a change of course if it does not.

Is Accountancy and Forensic Studies at Lux Mundi accredited?

Not confirmed. Lux Mundi took off in 2024 on a provisional NUC licence, and I found no NUC accreditation result for any of its programmes. NUC normally accredits a new programme around the time its first students reach final year, so the absence of a result is not a warning sign by itself. What you should get from the department before paying acceptance is written confirmation that the programme was approved by NUC to start, under that exact name.

For an accounting degree, professional recognition matters too. In Nigeria that means the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN). I found no statement from either body about Lux Mundi. Ask the department whether graduates get exemptions from any ICAN or ANAN papers; most accounting graduates still sit the professional exams before practising.

Watch out for form sellers

Forum adverts with private phone numbers claim to sell Lux Mundi “Post-UTME forms” and to release “admission lists”. Lux Mundi has published neither in any source I could find. A real offer always shows on JAMB CAPS, and admission outside CAPS is illegal, so do not pay anyone who cannot show you an official Lux Mundi receipt.

How to apply for Accountancy and Forensic Studies at Lux Mundi

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the course under Lux Mundi University: use Mathematics, Economics and a Social Science subject such as Government with Use of English, and select the course name exactly as JAMB lists it under Lux Mundi. If Lux Mundi was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution; JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre. Lux Mundi cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  4. Contact the university directly: Lux Mundi has not published an online portal or screening notice that I could find. Go through the university itself at its campus in Umuahia, and get any form, fee or screening date from the admissions office, not from an agent.
  5. Check CAPS for your offer: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  6. Accept on CAPS in time: JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept offers in 2026. Accept or reject on CAPS before you pay acceptance.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees through the university: Lux Mundi has not published an acceptance fee or school fees in any source I reached. Ask the bursary for the bill and pay only into an account the university gives you in writing.

What you study in Accountancy and Forensic Studies

Lux Mundi has not published a course outline. A Nigerian accounting degree runs four years for UTME entrants. A programme with forensic studies in its name normally adds fraud and investigation work to the usual accounting core:

  • Accounting core: financial accounting, cost and management accounting, auditing and assurance, taxation, public sector accounting and corporate reporting.
  • Business base: economics, business law, quantitative methods, finance and information systems.
  • Forensic side: fraud examination, forensic auditing, investigation techniques, evidence and litigation support, and anti-money laundering.
  • Final year: a research project, often on fraud, audit quality or financial reporting.

Careers

Graduates work as accountants and auditors in firms, banks, oil and gas companies and government, and the forensic training points toward fraud investigation, internal control, compliance and risk roles, and work with agencies that investigate financial crime. Most employers will still want ICAN or ANAN membership, so plan for professional exams alongside or after the degree.

About Lux Mundi University

Lux Mundi University is a private university in Umuahia, Abia State. Its founder and Pro-Chancellor is Prof. Gabriel Okenwa, and its take-off campus is at New Ndagbo City, Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku. ThisDay reported in January 2024 that it was operating on a provisional licence from NUC and had started with faculties of Management Sciences, Law, and Arts and Social Sciences, with “about 11 programmes” mentioned in another report that month. In October 2024 The Guardian reported that Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, is its mentor institution under an NUC-approved arrangement. That makes it one of Abia’s newest universities, and it has not yet graduated a first set of students.

Lux Mundi cut-off mark for Accountancy and Forensic Studies: FAQs

What is the Lux Mundi cut-off mark for Accountancy and Forensic Studies? Lux Mundi has not published one, so JAMB’s 2026/2027 minimum of 150 for universities is the legal floor. I advise aiming for 180.

What JAMB subjects do I need for Accountancy at Lux Mundi? Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one Social Science subject, which is JAMB’s general Accountancy/Accounting line. Lux Mundi has no special remark in the brochure.

Is Accountancy and Forensic Studies the same as Accounting on JAMB? It is an accounting degree with added fraud and investigation courses. I found no separate JAMB brochure entry under that name, so select the exact name JAMB’s portal shows under Lux Mundi.

Is the course accredited by NUC? I could not confirm it. Lux Mundi is a new university with no NUC accreditation result found for any programme, so ask the department for written confirmation of NUC approval before paying.

Sources and updates

UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Accountancy/Accounting, which has no Lux Mundi remark and no forensic variant. NBU’s 160 figure is from its 2026/2027 undergraduate admission page. The 150 national minimum, the list of institution cut-offs from the 2026 policy meeting, the four-week acceptance window and the 30 November 2026 private university deadline are from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026) and News Central’s full list of the same day. The course names are from universitycourses.ng’s Lux Mundi list (last modified 24 February 2026); Lux Mundi’s own website returned no readable content. The university’s background is from ThisDay (18 January 2024), a January 2024 report on alexotti.com, and The Guardian (5 October 2024). Course content, accreditation practice and careers are general knowledge of Nigerian accounting degrees, and the safe target and examples are my own advice. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated when Lux Mundi publishes a cut-off or admission notice.
