ADSU Geography Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Adamawa State University, Mubi set 150 as the UTME cut-off mark for Geography in 2026/2027, the same as 2025/2026. Here are the subjects, O’level rules, a safe target score and the screening steps for 2027/2028 candidates.

The ADSU cut off mark for Geography is 150 in the UTME, and that is the figure to plan with for 2027/2028. Adamawa State University, Mubi published it in its official list of approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session, signed for the Registrar by Admission Officer Dunfe S. Anjili. That matches JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, and ADSU set the same 150 for most of its courses. ADSU teaches it as a B.Sc. in the Faculty of Environmental Science, not under Arts.

2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Geography at ADSU is a science-side degree, so the subject combination matters as much as the score. Below are the official figures for two sessions, a safe target score (my advice), the subjects and credits, how the 2026 screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the course covers.

Geography was 150 in both ADSU lists. In 2025/2026 ADSU’s Faculty of Environmental Science had the same three courses it has now: Geography, Urban and Regional Planning and Environmental Management, all at 150.

Is 150 enough for Geography at ADSU?

ADSU calls these figures cut-off marks, and in practice they work as the lowest score it will consider for the course. ADSU has not published the score of the last candidate admitted into Geography, so nobody outside the admissions office knows how far above 150 the intake went.

Geography is an established ADSU course with steady demand. It is not crowded in the way Computer Science or the 170 sciences are, and ADSU has not needed to raise it.

Safe target score for Geography at ADSU (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an ADSU rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Geography at ADSU
Below 150Below JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, so ADSU cannot consider you for any course
150 to 164Eligible. Your chance depends on how many stronger candidates chose Geography
165 to 179A reasonable chance if your O’level is complete and on CAPS
180 to 199Good. This is the range I would aim for
200 and aboveStrong for this course

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. Aim higher if you also want a chance at a CAPS transfer into Urban and Regional Planning or Environmental Management, which share the faculty.

Catchment and indigene rules

The only catchment rule on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list is for Law, where Adamawa indigenes needed 230 and non-indigenes 260. Geography has one figure, 150, for every candidate. ADSU has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for any other course, so do not plan around the federal 45/35/20 formula.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Geography at ADSU

RequirementGeography at ADSU
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Geography and any two of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science (JAMB’s Sciences entry)
O’levelFive credits including English Language and Mathematics (ADSU’s 2026 rule). JAMB’s brochure adds Geography and two other science subjects.
SittingsNot stated in the reprinted 2026 notice. Two sittings are widely accepted in Nigeria, but one sitting is safer.
Direct EntryTwo A level passes in Geography and one other science subject (JAMB brochure). ADSU has not published its own DE list.
First choiceADSU as first choice, or a JAMB change of institution to ADSU (2026 notice)

Myschool’s copy of JAMB’s ADSU list shows Geography twice: once under Social and Management Sciences and once under Sciences. ADSU teaches it in the Faculty of Environmental Science, and its graduates receive a B.Sc. Before registering, open ADSU’s Geography entry on your JAMB e-brochure and follow the combination it shows. The Sciences entry needs Geography with two of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science, so an all-arts combination will not fit it.

The subjects above are JAMB’s general requirements for Geography from the brochure page as reprinted by Myschool. That page has no special remark for ADSU. Check the ADSU line on your own JAMB e-brochure before registration day.

How ADSU screening worked in 2026

ADSU’s 2026/2027 screening ran from Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 and is now closed. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool and Androidpols, described an online screening exercise; no test was announced.

Worked example for a Geography candidate

ADSU has not published an aggregate or ranking formula, and with no test there is no Post-UTME score to combine. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the 150 cut-off and a safe target. The candidates below are made up to show the arithmetic.

Take Yakubu, who scored 174 and has B3, C4, C4, C5 and C6 in English, Mathematics, Geography, Biology and Agricultural Science from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 174 minus 150 = 24. He clears the Geography cut-off by 24 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 180 minus 174 = 6. He is 6 marks below the score I would call comfortable.
  3. O’level check: Geography and two sciences are there, along with English and Mathematics.
  4. What I would advise: keep Geography as his course. If ADSU offers a CAPS transfer to Environmental Management, he should weigh it rather than ignore it.

Rahila scored 183 but registered English, Geography, Government and CRS. 183 minus 150 = 33, a good margin, but her combination has no science subject. If ADSU uses the Sciences entry for Geography, she may not be considered for it, and a change of course into a programme her subjects fit could be her route. She should check ADSU’s entry before 2027 registration.

How to apply for Geography at ADSU, step by step

  1. Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME: choose Geography with English, Geography and two of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science, and make ADSU your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution before ADSU’s screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. JAMB admits through CAPS, so the upload has to include English, Mathematics and Geography and two sciences.
  4. Fill the ADSU screening form: in 2026 ADSU told candidates to go to www.adsu.edu.ng, click on “post UTME” and fill in the required details. The fee was ₦2,000. Print the slip the portal gives you.
  5. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng and open Check Admission Status. Accept the offer when it appears, or reject it if you have a better one.
  6. Print your JAMB admission letter: after accepting on CAPS, print it from the JAMB portal. ADSU will ask for it at clearance.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Confirm the amount on the ADSU portal and pay only through it.

Warning

ADSU’s 2026 screening was an online form with a ₦2,000 fee, and every genuine admission offer shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a Geography “slot” at ADSU.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed. If you applied for Geography in 2026, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.

Studying Geography at ADSU

ADSU’s Geography department is the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies, and its graduates receive a B.Sc. Geography, according to the university’s combined convocation list for 2023/2024 and 2024/2025.

The course covers the physical side of the subject (landforms, climate, water, soils, vegetation) and the human side (population, settlements, the economy), with mapping and GIS running through both.

What you study

  • Physical geography: geomorphology, climatology, hydrology and biogeography
  • Human geography: population, settlement and economic geography
  • Cartography, GIS and remote sensing
  • Statistical methods and field techniques
  • Environmental and resource management
  • Fieldwork and a final-year research project

Degree, duration and accreditation

The degree is a B.Sc. Geography (ADSU convocation list). ADSU has not stated the length; four years is usual for UTME entrants to Nigerian B.Sc. Geography programmes.

NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication lists ADSU Geography (under Social Sciences) with an Interim result followed by three Full results, and 2028 as the date beside it. A separate row lists Education Geography as Full, with 2029.

Careers

  • GIS, mapping and remote sensing work
  • Planning offices, environmental agencies and census or population work
  • Teaching (with a teaching qualification) and research
  • Postgraduate study in GIS, environmental management or planning

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Geography syllabus and JAMB Biology syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Geography applicants an ADSU place

  • An all-arts UTME combination: JAMB’s Sciences entry for Geography needs two of Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Agricultural Science.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it is the lowest score ADSU will consider.
  • No Mathematics credit: ADSU’s 2026 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
  • ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB website.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: without it, CAPS cannot process an offer.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.

If you are trying again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.
