The Akwa Ibom Poly Quantity Surveying cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. For 2026/2027, Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua set its ND cut-off at “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME, matching JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics. It has published nothing separate for Quantity Surveying.
2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Quantity Surveying appeared in the school’s 2024/2025 course list and is on JAMB’s course list for Akwa Ibom Poly. I could not see it in the 2026/2027 notice since the reprint ends before that part of the list. What lets you choose it is the JAMB listing.

Akwa Ibom Poly Quantity Surveying cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 and above | Akwa Ibom Poly ND cut-off for all ND applicants | Official (school notice, via Myschool) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2024/2025 | 120 | Minimum reported on a blog’s Akwa Ibom Poly post-UTME page | Unofficial (allschool; no school notice cited) |
| Any year | None | A separate Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off for Quantity Surveying | Never published in any source I found |
Akwa Ibom Poly has never published a Quantity Surveying figure, so anyone quoting one is guessing. The school-wide figure did change: blogs reported 120 for 2024/2025, and the 2026/2027 notice says “100 and above”, in line with JAMB’s national minimum.
Safe target score for Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)
The ranges below are my judgement for Quantity Surveying, not anything Akwa Ibom Poly has published. The school does not release merit lists with scores.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible; your chance depends on how many apply |
| 120 to 139 | Good chance; 130 is the score I would aim for |
| 140 and above | Strong |
Set your 2027 UTME target at 130 or more and get clean credits in Mathematics, Physics and English Language. A minimum score only gets you screened. A higher score protects you when more people apply for Quantity Surveying than there are places.
Catchment and state of origin
Ownership sits with the Akwa Ibom State Government. At state polytechnics that often means some preference for indigenes, but Akwa Ibom Poly has published no catchment list or quota for 2026/2027, and it takes candidates from other states. Until a notice says otherwise, state of origin is not something I would plan a Quantity Surveying application around.
Akwa Ibom Poly Quantity Surveying subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Quantity Surveying |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English and any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics and Biology/Agricultural Science |
| O’level | Five credits in Mathematics and Physics plus any three of Economics/Commerce, Technical Drawing/Fine Arts, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Woodwork, Biology, Religious Knowledge and Metal Work |
| English Language | The brochure makes a credit in English Language compulsory, and asks for at least a pass in Art or Technical Drawing |
| Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom Poly | None found |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice) |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings |
I would register English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics (or Geography) for the UTME. When you plan your revision, our JAMB Economics syllabus will help.
You need five O’level credits, and for Quantity Surveying the core ones are Mathematics, Physics and English Language. A free slot is best spent on a subject that helps the course. Whatever result you upload to JAMB CAPS, present that same one at screening, so the grades match on both sides.
Direct Entry and the HND route
The only way into ND Quantity Surveying is the UTME and JAMB CAPS; there is no Direct Entry into ND year one. The HND comes after the ND and a one-year industrial attachment, and you apply for it directly to the polytechnic, not through CAPS. Our Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements guide covers it.
How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works
For 2026/2027, Akwa Ibom Poly announced the ND cut-off and screening fee in June 2026 and screened ND and HND applicants, Quantity Surveying candidates among them, in September. The polytechnic’s website would not open for me, so I relied on Myschool’s reprints.
| Detail | What the 2026/2027 notices say | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who scored 100 and above in the 2026 UTME | Official |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB | Official |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 | Official |
| Screening dates | Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. each day | Official; these dates have passed |
| Format | Candidates reported to their departments with their documents, including the WAEC or NECO statement of result | Official; no computer test was mentioned |
| Portal and closing date | Not shown in the reprint | Check the school website, akwaibompoly.edu.ng |
| 2024/2025 (for comparison) | A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing date | Unofficial |
The 2026 notice mentioned no written or computer test. It described a document check at department level. In screening of that kind, the main differences between Quantity Surveying applicants are usually the UTME score and the O’level result, and I would make sure Mathematics, Physics and English Language are solid. The ranking method itself is unpublished, so treat this as my reading.
Worked example for an ND Quantity Surveying applicant
Take Akaninyene, who scored 137 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Economics and Technical Drawing from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 137 minus 100 = 37. Akaninyene is above the school minimum.
- Against my safe target: 137 minus 130 = 7. That is inside the range I would aim for.
- O’level check: Akaninyene’s five credits include the Quantity Surveying core subjects and come from one sitting, so sittings are not an issue.
- CAPS check: Akaninyene still has to upload the same O’level result to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.
Akwa Ibom Poly has not said how it ranks applicants after screening, so take this as illustrative. With equally good documents, the candidate with the higher UTME score is usually ahead: Akaninyene on 137 would rank above a Quantity Surveying applicant on 110 with identical O’level grades.
Your chances of getting Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly
- Quantity Surveying usually has moderate competition.
- A score in the 130s with credits in Mathematics, Physics and English is a reasonable position.
- If CAPS offers you Building Technology or Estate Management instead, both sit in the same construction and property field.
- Akwa Ibom Poly put out its 2025/2026 ND lists in batches, according to blogs, so not seeing your name at first did not mean rejection.
- JAMB asked polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so offers can arrive late in the year.
How to apply for Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step
- Start with the profile code: from the phone line linked to your NIN, text NIN, a space and the 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019.
- Register for the UTME: select Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Quantity Surveying as JAMB lists it, using the subjects shown above.
- Upload the O’level result: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. While CAPS shows no O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
- Apply online: when the notice is out, follow the application link on akwaibompoly.edu.ng, pay the screening fee (₦2,000 in 2026), fill the form and print your slip.
- Change of institution or course: a JAMB change of institution is the fix if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, and JAMB change of course covers switching into Quantity Surveying from another course.
- Attend screening at the department: the 2026 exercise had candidates reporting to their departments from 9:00 a.m. with their documents. Take your UTME result slip, your screening slip and the WAEC or NECO statement of result, the one showing your Mathematics, Physics and English Language credits.
- Accept on CAPS: once Akwa Ibom Poly offers you Quantity Surveying, sign in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, go to Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept it. When a status is unclear, the JAMB CAPS guide covers each one.
- Pay acceptance and do clearance: Akwa Ibom Poly has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Use only an invoice generated on the school portal for payment, then complete clearance using your printed JAMB admission letter.
Warning
Do not pay anyone for a “special list” slot or a course change. Akwa Ibom Poly admits through JAMB CAPS: a genuine offer shows up on your CAPS page, and genuine fees are paid through a portal invoice generated in your name.
If you still need to sit the UTME, start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly
ND Quantity Surveying belongs to the School of Environmental Studies. The campus is at Ikot Osurua, off the Aba road near Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State. The course trains technicians who measure building work, price materials and labour, and track costs on construction projects.
What you study
These are the usual NBTE ND curriculum topics for Quantity Surveying. The department has not published its own course list online.
- Measurement of building and civil engineering work
- Construction technology and materials
- Estimating and pricing
- Contract procedure and tendering
- Cost planning and cost control
- Mathematics, computing and general studies
Duration and accreditation
Two years full time, including a short SIWES attachment, is how long an NBTE ND normally runs. The HND comes after a one-year industrial attachment and usually needs an ND at Lower Credit or above. Akwa Ibom Poly has not published a Quantity Surveying timetable of its own, so plan with that national pattern.
The NBTE directory lists Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic as a state polytechnic established in 1991. I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Quantity Surveying itself, so ask the department or check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes before you pay fees.
Careers after the ND
- Quantity surveying technician or cost assistant with construction firms
- Estimator for contractors
- Technical officer in public procurement and works departments
- Site cost controller
- HND Quantity Surveying, then the path to registration as a quantity surveyor

Mistakes that cost Quantity Surveying applicants
- No pass in Art or Technical Drawing: the brochure asks for at least a pass in one of them.
- No Physics credit: it is a core O’level subject.
- Weak Mathematics: the course is mostly measurement and pricing.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
- Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.
Akwa Ibom Poly Quantity Surveying: frequently asked questions
What are the JAMB subjects for Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly? English plus any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics and Biology/Agricultural Science. I would include Mathematics and Physics.
Do I need Technical Drawing for Quantity Surveying? You need at least an O’level pass in Art or Technical Drawing, according to the brochure. A credit is better.
When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? The 2026/2027 screening for ND and HND candidates ran from 9 to 11 September 2026 and has passed. The 2027/2028 dates are not out yet.
Is 115 enough for Quantity Surveying at Akwa Ibom Poly? For eligibility, yes: the minimum is 100. For Quantity Surveying I would want 130 or more to feel safe, so with 115 put your effort into a strong O’level result.
Sources and updates
Myschool reprinted the school’s 2026/2027 notice on 27 June 2026; it gives the “100 and above” cut-off and the ₦2,000 fee for screening. A later Myschool report (25 August 2026) gave the 9 to 11 September 2026 screening details. The older figure of 120 (2024/2025) is unofficial; it comes from an allschool blog post. The location and founding date were taken from Wikipedia and the NBTE directory. For the figures that apply to every polytechnic, I used the News Agency of Nigeria report on JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, published 11 May 2026: it gives the 100 floor for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline. For the year before, the figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), with matching reports in Blueprint and AllAfrica. The subject and O’level rules come from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (ND Quantity Surveying brochure page). For JAMB’s course list I used the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. My own advice covers two things: the safe target scores and the worked example. Everything was checked on 3 November 2026, and I will update this page when Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
