Southern Atlantic Poly admission requirements for the National Diploma come down to three things: a UTME score of at least 100, JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics; the right UTME subjects for your course; and five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics. Southern Atlantic Polytechnic, Uyo, has not published its own cut-off mark for any course in any year I could trace. JAMB’s list shows five ND courses for it: Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Public Administration and Science Laboratory Technology.
2027/2028 update: Southern Atlantic Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Southern Atlantic Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
NBTE’s 2020 Directory lists it as a private polytechnic (serial number 113) at Km 50 Airport Road, PMB 1009, Uyo, approved in 2020. The newest admission post I found is from May 2022 (schoolngr, 25 May 2022). It named an admission office at 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, and said the school ran ND full-time and part-time. I found no 2026/2027 notice, fee list or screening timetable. Southern Atlantic University in Uyo, commissioned in August 2025, is a separate institution in every source I found. Nothing I read says the polytechnic was upgraded or merged into it.
Southern Atlantic Poly admission requirements at a glance
| Item | Position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Name on JAMB’s list | Southern Atlantic Polytechnic (short name SA-Poly) | Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list, checked 3 November 2026 |
| Ownership | Private, approved 2020 | NBTE 2020 Directory |
| JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics | 100 | Official, 2026/2027 |
| School or departmental cut-off | Not published | No figure found for any year |
| ND courses on JAMB’s list | 5 | Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Public Administration and Science Laboratory Technology |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, plus course subjects (some courses differ; see below) | JAMB polytechnic brochure |
| Admission office (2022) | 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo | schoolngr, 25 May 2022 (unofficial) |
| Study modes (2022) | ND full-time and part-time | schoolngr, 25 May 2022 (unofficial) |
| Form fee, screening, school fees | Not published | No current notice from the school found |
| Programme accreditation for each course | Not confirmed | Ask the school for NBTE letters |
| JAMB deadline for 2026/2027 polytechnic admissions | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, reported by NAN); runs until 31 December 2026 |
JAMB’s list also shows “Geography / Mathematics”. That is an education (NCE-style) combination, not an NBTE ND course, and I found no sign the school runs it, so I have left it out. The five ND courses match the 2022/2023 admission post exactly, which is a good sign that the list is real.
Southern Atlantic Poly cut-off mark: what the figures say
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Southern Atlantic Poly figure for any course | No published figure in any source I found |
JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two years running. A polytechnic may set a higher mark for itself, but Southern Atlantic Poly has never announced one that I could find. So 100 is the legal minimum you must have, and anything above it improves your position at screening.
Safe target scores (my advice)
These are my own targets, based on how small private polytechnics usually admit and on how popular each course tends to be. Southern Atlantic Poly publishes no merit lists or applicant numbers.
| Course | Legal minimum | My safe target for 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering Technology | 100 | 130 or more |
| Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology | 100 | 125 or more |
| Computer Science | 100 | 135 or more |
| Science Laboratory Technology | 100 | 125 or more |
| Public Administration | 100 | 115 or more |
Computing and the busier management courses get the higher targets. If your score is between 100 and the target, you can still apply; your O’level and screening will carry more weight.
UTME subject combination for each Southern Atlantic Poly course
Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate, so the brochure lists only your other three subjects. I read each course page on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure on 3 November 2026. None of the remarks on the five pages names Southern Atlantic Poly (SA-Poly), so the base rule applies to every course.
| Course | UTME subjects besides Use of English | Source status |
|---|---|---|
| Computer Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry | JAMB brochure |
| Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry | JAMB brochure |
| Computer Science | Mathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics or Chemistry | JAMB brochure |
| Science Laboratory Technology | Any three of Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics | JAMB brochure |
| Public Administration | Government, History and Economics | JAMB brochure |
Public Administration’s base line is Government, History and Economics, so Mathematics is not a UTME subject for it but History is. Science Laboratory Technology’s base line, as reprinted, is Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics; Chemistry is accepted only through other schools’ remarks.
Computer Science trips up many candidates. Physics is optional in the UTME, but the O’level rule makes a Physics credit compulsory, and Biology is not on the UTME list at all. I would write Physics in the UTME so there is no gap.
O’level requirements for Southern Atlantic Poly courses
| Course | O’level credits (five in all) |
|---|---|
| Computer Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics or Commerce. The page also says a credit in English Language is required |
| Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics or Commerce. The standard NBTE ND rule also requires a credit in English Language, so make English one of the two |
| Computer Science | Mathematics, a basic science and three others from Economics, Geography, Government or History, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, English Language and Typewriting. Credits in English Language and Physics are compulsory |
| Science Laboratory Technology | Mathematics and two of Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science or Health Science, and Chemistry, plus two from Technical Drawing, Metal Work or Woodwork, Basic Electricity, Geography, Further Mathematics and Fine Arts. Credits in each of Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and in English Language, are compulsory |
| Public Administration | English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History or Government, Typewriting and Shorthand |
For Science Laboratory Technology, credits in all three of Biology, Chemistry and Physics are compulsory, plus English and Mathematics. For Computer Engineering, the brochure states that an English credit is required.
The school has published nothing on awaiting results. JAMB’s rule is simple: CAPS cannot offer you admission until your O’level result is uploaded, so have it on the portal before the school processes its list.
Direct Entry and HND
ND entry is through the UTME, and the brochure’s Direct Entry sections are blank for these courses. I found no evidence of HND programmes at Southern Atlantic Poly; the 2022 post mentions only ND full-time and part-time. Under the standard NBTE rule, an HND needs an ND at Lower Credit or better plus a year of industrial attachment, so plan to apply to a larger polytechnic for it.
Screening at Southern Atlantic Poly
Southern Atlantic Poly has not published a 2026/2027 screening notice, form price or timetable that I could find. The 2022 post gave an admission office at 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, but no fee or portal. Ask the office these questions:
- Is my course admitting for 2027/2028, and does it have NBTE accreditation?
- How much is the form, where do I pay, and what is the closing date?
- Is there a written test or interview, and on which subjects?
- What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Kufre, who wants Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology. He scored 124 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. His WAEC has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Basic Electricity from one sitting.
- JAMB minimum: 124 is 24 above 100, so he is eligible.
- My safe target: 124 is 1 below my 125 line, so his screening matters.
- UTME subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are exactly the base line.
- O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry are there, with English and Basic Electricity from the optional list.
If the school used a 50:50 ranking, 124 divided by 8 gives 15.5 out of 50, and 30 out of 50 at screening would bring him to 45.5. That formula is only an illustration; Southern Atlantic Poly has not published one.
How to apply to Southern Atlantic Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with the right subjects: choose your course and pick Southern Atlantic Polytechnic (short name SA-Poly) as your polytechnic. If you picked another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
- Upload your O’level result to CAPS: visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is released.
- Contact the polytechnic: ask at the admissions office (the 2022 post gave 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo) whether your course is admitting this year, and pay only through the channel the school names.
- Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Southern Atlantic Poly shares a name with the newer Southern Atlantic University. Make sure any form you buy is for the polytechnic’s ND, and remember that JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.
Your chances and my advice
- If you meet the subject rules and score 100 or more, your main risk is that your course is not admitting this year. Confirm with the office first.
- Uyo-based candidates save on rent, and the part-time option reported in 2022 may suit candidates who work.
- Make sure the form you buy is for Southern Atlantic Polytechnic’s ND, not for Southern Atlantic University’s degree programmes.
- JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.
