The Southern Atlantic Poly Public Administration cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, the national minimum JAMB set for polytechnics for 2026/2027. Southern Atlantic Polytechnic, Uyo, a private polytechnic in Akwa Ibom State, has not published a departmental cut-off for Public Administration in any year I could trace. The course appears on JAMB’s list for the school as “Public Administration”, so ND admission runs through the UTME and JAMB CAPS.
2027/2028 update: Southern Atlantic Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Southern Atlantic Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
NBTE’s 2020 Directory lists it as a private polytechnic (serial number 113) at Km 50 Airport Road, PMB 1009, Uyo, approved in 2020. The newest admission post I found is from May 2022 (schoolngr, 25 May 2022). It named an admission office at 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, and said the school ran ND full-time and part-time. I found no 2026/2027 notice, fee list or screening timetable. Southern Atlantic University in Uyo, commissioned in August 2025, is a separate institution in every source I found. Nothing I read says the polytechnic was upgraded or merged into it. So this page sticks to what JAMB and NBTE publish, gives you my safe target score, and tells you what to ask the school.
Southern Atlantic Poly Public Administration cut off mark at a glance

| My safe target for the 2027 UTME | 115 or more | My advice, not a school rule |

Southern Atlantic Poly cut-off mark history for Public Administration
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| Any year | None | Southern Atlantic Poly figure for Public Administration | Never published in any source I found |
JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two sessions running. A polytechnic may set a higher mark of its own, but Southern Atlantic Poly has never announced one that I could find, and it does not publish merit lists with scores. So 100 is the legal minimum, and anything above it improves your position.
Safe target score for Public Administration (my advice)
These bands are my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on how small private polytechnic courses tend to fill. Public Administration is a moderate-demand course.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 114 | Eligible; your O’level and screening decide the rest |
| 115 to 139 | Good chance |
| 140 and above | Very strong for this course |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 115 or more. If you land between 100 and that figure, still apply: at a small private polytechnic your O’level grades, your subject combination and the screening will carry a lot of weight.
Public Administration subject combination and O’level requirements at Southern Atlantic Poly
Use of English is compulsory for every UTME candidate, so JAMB’s brochure lists only your other three subjects. I read the Public Administration page on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure on 3 November 2026. None of its remarks names Southern Atlantic Poly, so the base rule applies.
| Requirement | What it says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects (base rule) | Use of English, plus Government, History and Economics | JAMB polytechnic brochure |
| O’level (base rule) | English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History or Government, Typewriting and Shorthand | JAMB polytechnic brochure |
| My recommended UTME set | English, Government, History and Economics | My advice |
My recommendation is English, Government, History and Economics. The base line fixes all three subjects, which surprises many candidates: Mathematics is not one of them, and History is.
O’level: Plan for five credits in no more than two sittings; the school has published nothing on sittings, and two is the usual polytechnic limit. Awaiting-result candidates can sit the UTME, but CAPS cannot offer you admission until your result is uploaded, so have it on the portal before the school’s list is processed.
Direct Entry and the HND route
There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND, and JAMB’s brochure leaves the Direct Entry section blank for this course. I found no evidence of HND programmes at Southern Atlantic Poly; the 2022 post mentions only ND full-time and part-time. Under the standard NBTE rule, an HND needs an ND (usually Lower Credit or better) plus a year of industrial attachment, so you may need to move to another polytechnic for it.
How admission screening works at Southern Atlantic Poly
| Detail | What is known | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who chose Southern Atlantic Poly in the UTME and scored at least 100 | JAMB rule |
| 2026/2027 admission notice | Not found | No official notice online |
| Form price and payment | Not published | Ask the admissions office |
| Test or interview | Not published | Ask the admissions office |
| Ranking formula | Not published | Unknown |
| Admission office (2022) | 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo | schoolngr, 25 May 2022 (unofficial) |
| Study modes (2022) | ND full-time and part-time | schoolngr, 25 May 2022 (unofficial) |
Small Nigerian polytechnics usually sell a form, check documents and sometimes run a short written test or interview. Southern Atlantic Poly has not said which it does. Ask the office these questions before you pay anything:
- Is Public Administration admitting new ND students for 2027/2028, and does the programme have NBTE accreditation?
- How much is the form, where do I pay, and when do sales close?
- Is there a written test or interview, and on which subjects?
- What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?
Worked example for an ND Public Administration applicant (illustrative)
Take Edikan, who wants Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly. Edikan scored 118 in English, Government, History and Economics, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Government, Economics and Literature in English from one sitting.
- JAMB minimum: 118 minus 100 = 18. Edikan is eligible.
- My safe target: 118 against 115 is 3 above it.
- UTME subjects: they match the line in the table above.
- O’level: five credits that cover the compulsory subjects for Public Administration.
If Southern Atlantic Poly used a 50:50 ranking, 118 divided by 8 gives 14.75 out of 50, and a screening score of 30 out of 50 would bring the total to 44.75. That formula is only an illustration of how such rankings work. Southern Atlantic Poly has not published one, and many small polytechnics simply admit everyone who qualifies.
Your chances of getting Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly
- If you meet the subject rules and score 100 or more, your biggest risk is that the course may not be running this year. Confirm that first.
- Public Administration is a moderate-demand course, so a score near my target of 115 gives you room if the department has more applicants than places.
- Candidates from Uyo, Uruan, Nsit Atai, Ibesikpo Asutan and Itu save on transport and rent by studying close to home, which adds up over a two-year ND.
- JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so offers for current candidates can come late. Keep checking CAPS until then.
How to apply for Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Public Administration with English, Government, History and Economics, and pick Southern Atlantic Polytechnic (short name SA-Poly) as your polytechnic.
- Fix your choice if needed: if Southern Atlantic Poly was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into Public Administration from another course, see JAMB change of course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: visit an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out.
- Contact the polytechnic: ask at the admissions office (the 2022 post gave 11 Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo) whether your course is admitting this year, and pay only through the channel the school names.
- Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Southern Atlantic Poly shares a name with the newer Southern Atlantic University. Make sure any form you buy is for the polytechnic’s ND, and remember that JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.

Studying Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly
The school has not published its faculty structure, so I do not name the school or department this course sits in. Southern Atlantic Poly has not published a course outline, so the list below is the usual NBTE pattern for ND Public Administration in Nigerian polytechnics.
What you study
- Principles of public administration
- Nigerian government and politics
- Local government administration
- Public finance and budgeting basics
- Office management and records
- Administrative law and human resource management
- SIWES placement and general studies
Duration and accreditation
Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time, with a SIWES placement. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Southern Atlantic Poly is in NBTE’s 2020 Directory (private, approved 2020), which confirms the school itself. I could not confirm the NBTE status of ND Public Administration specifically. That matters: an ND from a programme NBTE has not accredited can cause problems when you apply for an HND or a job. Ask the department for its accreditation letter before you pay fees.
Careers after the ND
- Administrative assistant in ministries, agencies and local councils
- Clerical and records officer
- Personnel or human resource assistant
- Community development and NGO programme assistant
- Office administrator in schools and private firms
- HND Public Administration, then a degree

Mistakes that cost Public Administration applicants
- Mathematics in place of History: the base UTME line is Government, History and Economics, so check before you register.
- No Mathematics credit at O’level: it is still required at O’level even though it is not in the UTME line.
- Literature in place of English: the brochure insists on English Language.
- Not checking History is available: many schools do not teach History, so plan for it early.
- No O’level on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer until your result is uploaded.
Southern Atlantic Poly Public Administration: frequently asked questions
What subjects do I need for Public Administration in Southern Atlantic Poly? JAMB’s base polytechnic line is Use of English, Government, History and Economics. At O’level you need English, Mathematics and three relevant credits.
Is 105 enough for Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly? It clears JAMB’s minimum of 100, and Southern Atlantic Poly has published no higher figure. It is a little below my safe target of 115, so a strong O’level result and a good screening will matter.
Can I study Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly without History? Under the base brochure line, History is one of the three fixed subjects. Some polytechnics have remarks that relax it; check the e-brochure entry for this school when you register.
Is Public Administration at Southern Atlantic Poly accredited? Southern Atlantic Poly itself is in NBTE’s 2020 Directory (private, approved 2020). I could not confirm the accreditation of ND Public Administration specifically, so ask the department for its NBTE letter before you pay fees.

The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The course name is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for the school. JAMB’s subject and O’level rules are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure page for Public Administration, which I checked on 3 November 2026. The address and approval year are from NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes (serial number 113). The admission office and study modes are from a schoolngr post of 25 May 2022. Southern Atlantic University’s commissioning is from The Mirror (15 August 2025). The safe target, the worked example and the ranking illustration are my own advice.
