The IMT Quantity Surveying cut off mark is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, has not published a departmental figure for Quantity Surveying, so 100 is the official floor you must reach before IMT will consider you.
2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Quantity Surveying has the most unusual IMT rule of the five courses in the School of Environmental Technology. JAMB’s general rule lets you pick any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics and Biology or Agricultural Science. The brochure then adds an IMT remark: IMT requires Economics and Biology or Agricultural Science. Many candidates register the usual Mathematics, Physics and Economics and miss the Biology part. This page covers that rule, the official figures, the 120 IMT used in 2024, my safe target, the O’level list, screening, worked examples, the CAPS steps and careers.
IMT Quantity Surveying cut off mark at a glance

|---|---|---|
| JAMB minimum UTME score for polytechnics (applies to IMT) | 100 | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN on 11 May 2026) |
| IMT’s own cut-off for Quantity Surveying | Not published | No IMT departmental figure for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 in any source I reached |
| My safe target score (advice) | 120 or higher; 140 is comfortable | Consultant advice, not an IMT rule |
| School at IMT | School of Environmental Technology | IMT Registrar notices, March 2024 |
| Level and award | National Diploma (ND), then HND | ND is the UTME entry point; HND listed in IMT’s HND notice |
| Duration | 2 years full-time for ND | NBTE standard ND length |
| UTME subjects at IMT | English, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and one of Physics, Mathematics, Geography | JAMB brochure with IMT remark |
| O’level | Five credits including Mathematics and Physics; English credit compulsory; a pass in Art or Technical Drawing required | JAMB brochure; no IMT O’level remark |

IMT cut-off mark history for Quantity Surveying
IMT does not publish a separate cut-off mark for each ND course. What exists is the national floor that JAMB sets for every polytechnic, and one threshold IMT itself used in 2024.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025) |
| 2023/2024 | 120 | IMT’s threshold for its advertised courses round, which listed Quantity Surveying | Official IMT Registrar notices, March 2024 |
The 120 comes from two notices the IMT Registrar posted on imt.edu.ng in March 2024. They invited candidates from the 2023/2024 UTME who had scored 120 or more and had not yet been admitted to apply for courses that still had places. All five courses in the School of Environmental Technology were on that list, Quantity Surveying included. No 2026/2027 IMT notice that I could open repeats the 120, so treat JAMB’s 100 as the floor and aim well above it.
Safe target score for Quantity Surveying at IMT (my advice)
IMT has never published a score band for Quantity Surveying. The bands below are my judgement from how environmental courses fill at state polytechnics in the South East, and from IMT’s 2024 notice that advertised spare Quantity Surveying places to candidates with 120 or more. Use them for planning only.
| Your UTME score | My read for Quantity Surveying at IMT |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any polytechnic, IMT included |
| 100 to 114 | Eligible to apply if your subjects fit IMT’s remark |
| 115 to 129 | Possible |
| 130 to 139 | Competitive |
| 140 and above | Strong for Quantity Surveying at IMT |
IMT’s subject remark shrinks the pool of eligible applicants, because fewer candidates write both Economics and Biology alongside a numerate subject. That works in your favour if your combination fits. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 120, ideally 140.
Catchment and state of origin
IMT is owned by Enugu State, so Enugu indigenes are its home catchment, but it admits candidates from every state. IMT has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for its ND courses. Your UTME score, the core O’level credits and getting your documents in early count for more than your state of origin.
IMT Quantity Surveying subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | Quantity Surveying (ND) at IMT |
|---|---|
| General UTME rule | Use of English and any three of Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science |
| IMT remark (UTME) | IMT requires Economics and Biology or Agricultural Science |
| Combinations I would use for IMT | English, Economics, Biology, Mathematics; or English, Economics, Agricultural Science, Mathematics; or English, Economics, Biology, Physics |
| General O’level rule | Five credits in Mathematics and Physics plus any three of Economics or Commerce, Technical Drawing or Fine Art, Chemistry, Geography, Further Mathematics, Woodwork, Biology, Religious Knowledge, Metal Work |
| English Language | Credit compulsory |
| Art or Technical Drawing | An O’level pass is required |
| IMT remark (O’level) | None in the brochure |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE), at most two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Not used for ND. HND entry is with a relevant ND through IMT’s HND form |
Read together, the general rule and IMT’s remark leave you one free slot after English, Economics and Biology or Agricultural Science. I would fill it with Mathematics. Quantity surveyors measure and price construction work all day, and a candidate weak in Mathematics will struggle in ND1 whatever the UTME allowed. Physics is the other sensible choice, since it is a compulsory O’level credit for this course anyway.
The IMT remark is short and unusual for a construction course, so I would confirm it with IMT’s admissions office or on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register. If you can still choose your subjects, writing English, Economics, Biology and Mathematics satisfies both the general rule and IMT’s remark.
The O’level pass in Art or Technical Drawing
The O’level rule for Quantity Surveying asks for a pass, not a credit, in Art or Technical Drawing. A pass means grades up to E8 count. Candidates from science classes that did not offer either subject are often caught by this. If you have neither, writing Technical Drawing in NECO or the WAEC GCE before CAPS uploads close is the cleanest fix.
Direct Entry and HND
There is no Direct Entry into ND1, so every ND place goes through the UTME and CAPS. HND Quantity Surveying is on IMT’s own HND notice. That notice, from the 2019/2020 session, asked for a relevant ND with a CGPA of at least 2.50, or a lower CGPA backed by at least two years of verifiable industrial attachment, with a ₦5,000 form. Confirm the current terms on the portal. Our IMT HND admission requirements guide covers that route.
How IMT screens ND Quantity Surveying candidates
IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. I could not open the 2026/2027 call itself, so the newest confirmed details on how IMT screens ND candidates come from its official 2023/2024 notices. Those notices said IMT would hold no post-UTME examination for its diploma programmes that session and would admit on verified JAMB scores plus O’level results uploaded to CAPS.
| Detail | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who applies | Candidates who chose IMT in the UTME and scored at least the JAMB minimum | Standard JAMB rule |
| Where | portal.imt.edu.ng (SLMS Application) | Confirmed link on imt.edu.ng |
| Form fee | ₦2,000 in 2023/2024 | Official IMT notice, March 2024; confirm the 2026/2027 fee on the portal |
| Payment | Interswitch at a bank under Enugu State IGR, or by card through IMT’s Quickteller link | Official IMT notice, March 2024 |
| Screening method | No post-UTME for diploma programmes in 2023/2024; admission on verified JAMB score and O’level on CAPS | Official for 2023/2024; IMT has not published the 2026/2027 method |
| Part-time option | Quantity Surveying is not on IMT’s part-time list | imt.edu.ng part-time page |
| Admission deadline for polytechnics | Runs until 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| Time to accept an offer on CAPS | Four weeks | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
Worked examples for Quantity Surveying applicants
IMT has not published an aggregate formula for ND admission. Some blogs print one, but none cites an IMT document. These examples measure the gap between a UTME score, the national floor and my safe target, then check the subjects against the brochure.
Take Somto, who scored 131 in English, Economics, Biology and Mathematics. From one WAEC sitting she has C4 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C5 in Physics, B2 in Economics, C6 in Biology, C4 in Geography and a D7 in Technical Drawing.
- Eligibility: 131 minus 100 = 31. She is clear of JAMB’s polytechnic minimum.
- Against my safe target: 131 minus 120 = 11. She is in the competitive band.
- UTME subjects: Economics and Biology meet IMT’s remark, and Mathematics is in the general list.
- O’level: Mathematics and Physics are the fixed credits, Economics, Biology and Geography fill the other three, English is a credit, and her D7 in Technical Drawing is the pass the rule asks for.
- What I would advise: keep Quantity Surveying at IMT and fill the form the week it opens.
Tobenna scored 156 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Economics, the combination most guides give for Quantity Surveying. It meets JAMB’s general rule, but it has no Biology or Agricultural Science, so read literally it does not meet IMT’s remark. I would advise him to confirm with IMT before the form closes. If IMT applies the remark, his exact combination does fit Estate Management and Valuation at IMT (Mathematics plus two of Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Arts), so a change of course to that, or a school without this remark, is the safer route.
How to apply for Quantity Surveying at IMT, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Confirm the course on IMT’s list: Quantity Surveying is on IMT’s course list in JAMB’s brochure as reprinted by Myschool. Open the IMT Enugu entry on JAMB’s e-brochure when you register and check it still shows.
- Register for the UTME: Choose Quantity Surveying, register English, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science and one of Mathematics, Physics or Geography, and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school first, a JAMB change of institution is possible before IMT closes its form, and a JAMB change of course fixes a wrong course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. IMT’s 2023/2024 notices made this upload part of the admission decision, and no school can recommend you on CAPS without it.
- Fill IMT’s application form: when the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng, open portal.imt.edu.ng, click Apply, fill the form, choose Interswitch to generate an invoice, pay and print the acknowledgement slip. Use an email address and phone number you check daily.
- Check your status: use the admission checker on the IMT portal, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
- Accept within four weeks: JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
- Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice generated on the IMT portal.
Warning
Every genuine IMT offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Anyone selling an “IMT Quantity Surveying slot” or a place on a special list is outside the process. Pay fees only through invoices generated on portal.imt.edu.ng.
Your chances of getting Quantity Surveying at IMT
JAMB’s 100 only makes you eligible. For this course, the IMT subject remark and the O’level pass in Art or Technical Drawing remove more applicants than the score does. Check both before you worry about your score.
IMT’s 2024 advertised courses notice listed Quantity Surveying among the courses with places still open after the main round, for candidates with 120 or more. Taken together with the narrow subject rule, I read this as a course where a candidate with the right subjects, a score in the 120s or above and complete documents has a good chance.
Studying Quantity Surveying at IMT Enugu
Quantity surveyors are the cost experts of construction. They measure the work in a design, prepare bills of quantities, estimate costs, help clients choose contractors and track spending while the building goes up. ND graduates do the measuring and pricing work under a registered quantity surveyor.
What you study
IMT has not put its Quantity Surveying course outline online, so the list below describes what ND Quantity Surveying generally covers in Nigerian polytechnics. Ask the department for its own outline at registration.
- Measurement of building works: taking off quantities from drawings.
- Estimating and costing: pricing materials, labour and plant.
- Construction technology: how the work being measured is built.
- Contracts and tendering: forms of contract and how tenders are run.
- Building economics and cost control: budgets, valuations and final accounts.
- Computer applications: spreadsheets and estimating software.
- Practical work: a SIWES placement with a quantity surveying firm or contractor.
Accreditation
At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had lost accreditation by the time he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. NBTE has not published a programme-by-programme result for Quantity Surveying at IMT that I could find, so its individual status is not confirmed. Quantity surveyors in Nigeria are registered by the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria (QSRBN), and the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors is the professional body. Check their entry routes for ND and HND holders directly. Ask the department to show the current accreditation letter during clearance if this matters to you.

Mistakes that cost Quantity Surveying applicants an IMT place
- Treating 100 as admission: it only makes you eligible to apply.
- Leaving out Biology or Agricultural Science: IMT’s remark requires it with Economics.
- No pass in Art or Technical Drawing: the O’level rule asks for one.
- No Physics credit: Physics is optional in IMT’s UTME rule but compulsory at O’level.
- Buying a “slot”: offers come only through CAPS and the IMT portal.
IMT Quantity Surveying cut off mark: frequently asked questions
What is the IMT cut off mark for Quantity Surveying? It is 100, JAMB’s 2026 minimum for polytechnics. IMT has not published a separate figure for Quantity Surveying, so I would aim for 120 or more.
What are the JAMB subjects for Quantity Surveying in IMT? English, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science, and one of Mathematics, Physics or Geography. That follows JAMB’s remark that IMT requires Economics and Biology or Agricultural Science.
Is Physics compulsory for Quantity Surveying in IMT? Not in the UTME under IMT’s rule, but a credit in Physics is compulsory at O’level, together with Mathematics and English.
Do I need Technical Drawing for Quantity Surveying? You need an O’level pass in Technical Drawing or Art. A pass is enough; it does not have to be a credit.
Sources and updates
The 100 minimum for polytechnics in 2026, the 31 December 2026 admission deadline and the four-week acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics and Channels TV (8 July 2025). The UTME subjects, the O’level list and any IMT remark come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB polytechnic brochure entry for Quantity Surveying, and the course’s place on IMT’s list from Myschool’s IMT Enugu course list, both checked on 29 October 2026. The 120 threshold, the ₦2,000 form fee, the payment channels, the School of Environmental Technology course list and the no post-UTME rule for 2023/2024 are from IMT Registrar notices on imt.edu.ng dated 4 March 2024 and 22 March 2024. The HND entry rule is from IMT’s 2019/2020 HND notice. The part-time list is from IMT’s part-time programmes page. The accreditation remarks are from BusinessDay (13 June 2026). The ₦25,000 acceptance fee is from blogs and is unofficial, and the safe target scores are my advice. This page will be updated when IMT publishes its 2027/2028 admission notice.
