The Madonna University cut off mark for Chemical Engineering is 150. Madonna’s 2026/2027 admission page sets 150 as its general minimum and gives higher figures only for Law, Medicine, Pharmacy and Nursing, so Chemical Engineering at the Akpugo campus in Enugu State takes the 150 line, which matches JAMB’s national minimum for universities. My advice for the 2027 UTME is to aim for 170.
2027/2028 update: Madonna University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Course check: Chemical Engineering is on Madonna’s JAMB course list under the exact name “Chemical Engineering”. The same list also carries “Chemical Engineering Technology”, which is the polytechnic-style name; pick “Chemical Engineering”. Madonna’s own Chemical Engineering page says the Faculty of Engineering was moved to the Akpugo campus, and the department is listed on the Faculty of Engineering page tagged Akpugo Campus.
Accreditation check: Madonna’s department page states that Chemical Engineering holds full NUC accreditation and COREN accreditation, but it gives no dates, and I found no NUC report page or COREN record that confirms it. Ask for the current letters before paying.
Madonna University cut off mark for Chemical Engineering: the figures that apply
No Madonna notice gives Chemical Engineering a figure of its own. The general minimum is 150, and the history below shows how it has moved.

Madonna’s two official pages disagree on the higher courses. The admission page lists Law 190, Medicine 180, Pharmacy 160 and Nursing 170, while the undergraduate page says those four need 200. Neither page names any engineering course, and both say 150 applies to everything else, so the conflict does not change the figure for engineering candidates at Akpugo. Aggregator pages that still print 140 are repeating the 2021/2022 notice; 140 is now below JAMB’s legal floor.
Safe target score for Chemical Engineering at Madonna (my advice)
This is my own judgement, since Madonna publishes no departmental figure. Chemical Engineering usually attracts fewer applicants than Electrical or Computer Engineering at private universities, so I set the target at 170.

Below 160, apply early and keep a close watch on CAPS, because a private university can fill a small department in the first batches.
Madonna University Chemical Engineering subject combination and O’level requirements
I checked the JAMB brochure entry for Chemical Engineering on Myschool. It has no Madonna remark, so JAMB’s general rules apply, and they match what Madonna’s department page asks for.

Chemistry is the subject the whole degree rests on, so a strong Chemistry grade at O’level matters more here than in the other engineering courses. Biology is the most common fifth science and is useful for the biochemical and food processing parts of the course.
Points Chemical Engineering applicants get wrong
- Picking Chemical Engineering Technology: both names sit on Madonna’s JAMB list. The B.Eng degree described on Madonna’s page is Chemical Engineering.
- Confusing it with Industrial Chemistry: Industrial Chemistry is a science degree in Madonna’s Faculty of Science, not an engineering degree at Akpugo.
- Leaving out Physics at O’level: Physics must be a credit, even though some students think Chemistry and Mathematics are enough.
- Waiting for results to upload: you may apply to Madonna while awaiting results, but you cannot be offered on CAPS until the upload is done.
Direct Entry into Chemical Engineering
Madonna’s department page is the clearest of all the engineering pages on Direct Entry. It accepts A level, OND or HND in the same or a related field, puts OND holders into year two and HND holders into year three, and says Direct Entry students complete the degree in four years against five for UTME entrants. JAMB’s general line asks for A level passes in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Register Direct Entry with JAMB, and keep your five O’level credits ready, because they are still checked.
How Madonna screens Chemical Engineering applicants
Madonna does not advertise a written post-UTME examination. Its admission page says the screening and admission forms are free and that every fresh applicant for 2026/2027 pays a ₦30,000 medical test fee. You generate an invoice on the portal (it begins with MNT), then pay through Quickteller or at any commercial bank. Legit.ng reported the same fee on 14 September 2026. Older blog posts mention a ₦6,000 medical fee paid at Mayfresh Mortgage Bank; that is the old arrangement, so follow the portal invoice.

Worked example for a Chemical Engineering candidate
Madonna publishes no formula, so check yourself against the 150 floor, my 170 target and the subject rules.
Ifeoma scored 174 with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in one WAEC sitting.
- Legal floor: 174 is above 150.
- My safe target: 174 clears 170 by four marks.
- UTME subjects: exactly the required combination.
- O’level: all five credits in one sitting. She qualifies and goes on to the medical test and interview.
Illustration only: on the 50:50 aggregate many Nigerian universities use, the UTME score divided by 8 gives up to 50 points, so Ifeoma’s 174 would be worth 21.75. Madonna has not said it uses this or any formula.
Is Chemical Engineering at Madonna accredited?
Madonna says yes, but I could not confirm it independently. The department page says the programme has full accreditation from NUC and is also accredited by COREN. It gives no year or maturity date. On NUC’s side, NUC’s report pages for Madonna (listed as Madonna University, Okija) cover Anatomy, Physiology, Marketing and Business Education, all graded Full in November 2024, with nothing for engineering, and NUC’s full results list, Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025, cannot be read beyond Crawford University. COREN’s published visit reports do not include Madonna.
NUC full accreditation lasts five years and must be renewed, so an undated claim can be out of date. Ask the department for the latest NUC and COREN letters naming Chemical Engineering, and check the dates, before you pay acceptance.
How to apply for Chemical Engineering at Madonna, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
- Register the right course: pick Madonna University and the course listed by JAMB as “Chemical Engineering”, with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry plus Use of English. If Madonna was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution; JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Madonna lets awaiting-result candidates apply, but CAPS cannot carry an offer until the upload is done.
- Create your Madonna applicant account: on the portal at madonna.skool-board.com, choose Chemical Engineering and note your applicant number.
- Pay the medical test fee: generate the ₦30,000 MNT invoice on the portal and pay through Quickteller or a commercial bank. Keep the receipt.
- Attend the medical examination and oral interview: at the admissions office of the campus you chose. For engineering, ask whether it holds at Akpugo.
- Check and accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept or reject offers in 2026. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay school charges to Madonna only: Madonna has not published an acceptance fee. Ask the bursary for the full first-year bill in writing and pay only through the portal or channels it names.
Admission outside CAPS is illegal
JAMB and the News Agency of Nigeria have both stated that any admission given outside CAPS is illegal. A real Madonna offer always shows on your JAMB CAPS page, so do not pay anyone who promises a place in exchange for money.
Studying Chemical Engineering at Madonna
Madonna’s page describes a B.Eng in Chemical Engineering that takes five years from UTME entry and four from Direct Entry. It has not published a course outline, so this is the usual shape of the degree in Nigeria.

Careers after Chemical Engineering
Madonna’s page lists the petroleum and petrochemical industries, drilling, paints and plastics, consumer chemicals, food and pharmaceuticals, research and development, consultancy, design and construction, raw material production and agro-industries. In practice many graduates start in process, production or quality roles in manufacturing plants and refineries, and later register with COREN.
Chemical Engineering school fees at Madonna
Madonna’s fees page could not be opened. Legit.ng’s Madonna fees article (updated 5 May 2026) shows ₦370,000 for the first semester and ₦230,000 for the second, ₦600,000 in all, against Chemical Engineering and the other engineering courses, but the table carries no session label. Treat it as a rough guide and ask the bursary for the current bill, including hostel, laboratory and medical charges.

Madonna University is a private Catholic university founded on 10 May 1999 at Okija, Anambra State, by Very Rev. Fr. Prof. E. M. P. Edeh, who is also its Chancellor. It has three campuses. Okija is the founding campus, Elele in Rivers State hosts the teaching hospital and clinical training, and Akpugo in Enugu State is described by the university as the campus for engineering and emerging sciences. Akpugo is in Nkanu West Local Government Area. NUC and the Council of Legal Education list the university as Madonna University, Okija.
