ESPOLY HND admission requirements, in short: a National Diploma in a relevant course with at least a Lower Credit, the required year of industrial training (SIWES), and five O’level credits including English Language and Mathematics. That is how Teezab reported Enugu State Polytechnic’s 2026/2027 rules in July 2026, and an older ESPOLY HND notice says the same. HND entry does not use the UTME, so there is no JAMB cut-off mark for it. ESPOLY opened 2026/2027 admissions on 15 May 2026, and its new applicant portal is portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php.

They come from the latest information available for 2026/2027. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

ESPOLY HND admission requirements in detail
ESPOLY’s own entry requirements page would not open, so the rules below come from Teezab’s July 2026 guide and an older ESPOLY HND notice reposted by Schoolings. Both agree on the core points.
- A relevant ND: your National Diploma must be in the same field as the HND you want, from a recognised polytechnic or college.
- Lower Credit or better: the minimum ND class both sources give.
- Industrial training: the one-year industrial attachment (IT) that normally follows the ND, or SIWES where it applies.
- O’level: five credits including English Language and Mathematics, in subjects relevant to the course. The older notice also mentions A’level equivalents.
Your O’level should also meet the ND rules for the course. If your ND was in Accountancy, for example, the credits that got you into the ND will normally carry you into the HND.
ND classes and what they mean for HND entry
Nigerian polytechnics grade the ND on a 4.00 scale. Here is where the Lower Credit line sits.

What if my ND is a Pass?
ESPOLY has not published a rule for Pass holders. At other polytechnics, the usual NBTE-based practice is to accept a Pass only after more work experience. Federal Polytechnic Offa, for example, asks for at least two years of post-ND experience from Pass holders, against one year for Lower Credit and above. If your ND is a Pass, ask ESPOLY’s admissions office directly before buying a form, and keep letters from every employer that show your dates.
HND courses at ESPOLY
ESPOLY has not published its HND list on a page I could open. Two secondary lists exist, and they differ. Teezab’s July 2026 list is the newer one. The longer list is the set of 19 HND courses ESPOLY announced in February 2021, as Myschool reported on 23 February 2021; the same 19 courses appear in the HND form notice reposted by Schoolings.

Courses on both the 2021 and 2026 lists, such as Accountancy, Banking and Finance, Statistics, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering and the crop, animal and pest management options, are the safest bets. For anything on only one list, such as Business Administration, Public Administration, Mass Communication, Horticulture or the two newer computing HNDs, check the course list on the ESPOLY portal before paying. The newer computing titles in Teezab’s list suggest ESPOLY replaced HND Computer Science with Software and Web Development and Networking and Cloud Computing, but ESPOLY has not said so publicly.
ESPOLY HND form, price and screening
ESPOLY’s website announced 2026/2027 admissions on 15 May 2026 and, on 14 May 2026, posted a guide titled “How to Use ESPOLY Portal For ND One and HND One” by Dr Osmond Ekwueme, together with a notice that the portal is fully working and should be used for all payments (espoly.edu.ng). The “Apply to ESPOLY” link on the site goes to portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php. ESPOLY has not published a 2026/2027 HND form price or screening date.
An older ESPOLY HND form notice reposted by Schoolings gives these details. Treat them as history, since the page’s dates conflict and the portal address it gives (a ScreeningApplication.aspx page) is not the one ESPOLY now links to:

My advice: expect a short sales window and a screening test, have your documents ready before the form opens, and pay only the amount the ESPOLY portal generates.

Buy the ESPOLY HND form only through the ESPOLY portal. Anyone who sells “HND admission” or a form by bank transfer to a personal account is not ESPOLY.
How to apply for HND at ESPOLY
- Check your eligibility: confirm your ND class (Lower Credit or better), that your ND is in the same field, and that you have your IT letter.
- Confirm the course runs: look for your HND course on the portal’s programme list, especially if it appears on only one of the lists above.
- Open the portal: go to portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php and follow ESPOLY’s HND One guide.
- Pay the form fee: generate the invoice on the portal and pay the amount shown. Keep the receipt and the payment reference.
- Fill the form and upload documents: enter your details exactly as they appear on your certificates, upload your O’level and ND results, and print the acknowledgement or slip.
- Attend screening: if your slip gives a test or interview date, attend with the originals of your documents.
- Check the admission list and accept: when your name appears, pay acceptance and school fees through the portal, then complete registration with your department.

A worked example
Ifeoma finished ND Accountancy at another polytechnic with a CGPA of 2.71, a Lower Credit, and did a year of industrial attachment at a microfinance bank. Her WAEC has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Financial Accounting. She meets every reported rule for HND Accountancy at ESPOLY, which appears on both lists above. She should apply as soon as the form opens and bring her IT letter to screening.
Her classmate Tobenna finished with 2.38, a Pass, straight after IT. He is below the reported minimum. My advice to him is to work for two years in an accounting role, keep his employer’s letters, and then ask ESPOLY whether it will take him on that basis, since ESPOLY has published no Pass rule.

JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for polytechnic admissions through CAPS. That date governs ND admission; ESPOLY sets its own HND timetable. Duration, accreditation and what comes after
A full-time HND takes two years (four semesters) and ends with a project. NBTE’s January 2026 brochure of approved curricula includes HND programmes matching most titles on the lists above, including Computer Engineering Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology options, Crop Production Technology, Animal Production Technology and Horticulture Technology. Whether each ESPOLY HND programme holds current NBTE accreditation is not confirmed, because ESPOLY publishes no accreditation list. Ask your department for its NBTE status before you pay school fees.
After the HND you do the one-year NYSC, and you can then work, register with the professional body for your field, or apply for a postgraduate diploma or a degree conversion at a university.

Mistakes HND applicants make
- Applying for an unrelated HND: an ND in Banking and Finance does not lead to HND Computer Engineering.
- Coming without the IT letter: the industrial training requirement is part of the entry rules.
- Relying on an old form price: the N12,500 figure online is from an older notice.
- Missing the screening date: the older notice said there was no make-up test.
- Using the old portal address: apply through portal.espoly.edu.ng/applicant.php, the link on ESPOLY’s site.
ESPOLY HND admission requirements: FAQs
Do I need JAMB for HND at ESPOLY? No. HND entry is based on your ND result, industrial training and O’level, and it does not go through the UTME or JAMB CAPS.
Can I get HND admission at ESPOLY with a Pass in ND? The reported minimum is Lower Credit, and ESPOLY has published no Pass rule. Other polytechnics usually ask Pass holders for two years of work experience, so ask ESPOLY before you buy a form.
How much is the ESPOLY HND form? ESPOLY has not published a 2026/2027 price. An older notice that circulates online priced it at N12,500; pay whatever the ESPOLY portal generates and nothing more.
Does ESPOLY offer HND Computer Science? Teezab’s 2026 list shows Software and Web Development and Networking and Cloud Computing instead, while ESPOLY’s 2021 announcement listed Computer Science. Check the portal’s programme list for the current title.
