Clifford University Social Justice Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Clifford University’s cut-off for Social Justice is the 150 it sets for all courses, and the B.Sc. has full NUC accreditation. See JAMB’s subject combination and O’level, Direct Entry, screening, the N825,500 fee, CAPS steps and why it is not a Law degree.

The Clifford University cut-off mark for Social Justice is 150 in the UTME. Clifford University, Owerrinta sets 150 as its general cut-off on the 2026/2027 admission notice, the same as JAMB’s minimum for universities, and it has published no separate figure for the B.Sc. in Social Justice. Social Justice is also one of the eight Clifford programmes that the university announced in 2023 as fully accredited by the NUC.

2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

One warning before you read further: Clifford’s requirements page lists Social Justice but shows no entry requirements for it. So the UTME and O’level rules below come from JAMB’s brochure, and I say clearly where Clifford has not confirmed something. You will also find a safe target score (my advice), Direct Entry rules, screening, the 2026/2027 fees, the CAPS steps and what the degree is for.

This page is about Clifford University, the private Seventh-day Adventist university at Ihie, near Owerrinta, Abia State. Its 2026/2027 notice says admission is in progress, the JAMB cut-off is 150, and candidates come in by UTME, Direct Entry or transfer. Nothing on the site sets a higher figure for Social Justice.

An admissions blog claimed in October 2025 that Clifford invites candidates who scored 130 or more but did not choose it first. That post came out before the 2026 UTME, quotes no university notice, and is below the 150 Clifford now states on its own homepage, so I would not plan around 130. News Central also printed the full list of cut-offs institutions declared at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting. Clifford is missing from it, which means there is no separate policy-meeting figure for Clifford to quote.

Safe target score for Social Justice at Clifford (my advice)

Social Justice is a newer, less familiar course, so I expect it to draw fewer applicants than Law, Mass Communication or Accounting, which usually means less competition for each place. These bands are my own reading; Clifford has not published any.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Clifford Social Justice
Below 150Not eligible for any Clifford degree course
150 to 159Eligible; complete O’level credits and an early application matter most
160 to 179Good chance
180 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 160 or more. If you are also hoping for Law somewhere else, aim much higher, because Law cut-offs in the South East are among the highest in the country.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Social Justice

Clifford’s undergraduate requirements page names Social Justice in its menu, but the link leads to no requirements. JAMB’s brochure does carry an entry for the course, and Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s Clifford list includes Social Justice, so JAMB’s rules are the ones to plan with.

RequirementWhat appliesSource
UTME subjects (JAMB)Use of English, Government and any two of Economics, Geography, History, Accounting and CommerceJAMB brochure (Myschool reprint)
UTME subjects (Clifford)Not publishedClifford requirements page shows nothing for this course
O’level (JAMB)Five credits including English Language and Government, plus a pass in MathematicsJAMB brochure
Clifford general O’level ruleFive credits in WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (SSCE or GCE) in not more than two sittingsClifford requirements page
Institution remarks in the JAMB brochureNone for any universityMyschool reprint of the brochure

Register Use of English, Government, Economics and History or Geography. Government is the one fixed subject, and Economics is the most common partner for it. Accounting or Commerce is allowed too if you took either in school.

For the O’level, JAMB fixes English and Government and asks only for a pass in Mathematics. Most of Clifford’s other Social Science courses ask for more than a pass in Mathematics, so I would treat a credit as the safe standard until the department says otherwise. Fill the other credits from Economics, Literature in English, CRS, Civic Education, Geography or History.

Direct Entry into Social Justice at Clifford

JAMB’s brochure asks for two A-level passes in Social Science subjects, including Geography and Economics, with the O’level credits above. Clifford has published no Social Justice rule of its own. Its general Transfer and Direct Entry page applies:

  • Direct Entry students start at 200 level.
  • Every Direct Entry candidate writes Clifford’s screening test, except JUPEB candidates.
  • A complete transcript or statement of result is required before admission.
  • GST courses stay compulsory, with no whole-session exemptions.

If you hold an ND, HND or a diploma in a related field, ask the admissions office whether it qualifies. Clifford has not said either way for this course.

Clifford Post-UTME screening for Social Justice

Clifford has not published a screening date, form fee or test format for Social Justice in any source I could reach. Its own pages confirm two things. The undergraduate requirements page tells applicants to come in “via Post UTME or Direct Entry”, and the Transfer and Direct Entry page says every Direct Entry candidate sits a university screening test, with JUPEB candidates the only exception. Applications go through the portal at soap.clifforduni.edu.ng.

An October 2025 blog post said the form was free and that candidates would write an aptitude test on a date to be announced. Neither claim appears on Clifford’s website, so call the admissions office before you pay anyone for a form.

Worked example (illustrative only)

Clifford publishes no aggregate formula. The example compares scores with the 150 floor and my target score. In case a test is set, it also uses the 50:50 method common at Nigerian universities (UTME score divided by 8, plus half of the screening percentage). The method is my illustration, not Clifford’s.

  1. Chidinma: UTME 168, credits in English, Mathematics, Government, Economics and CRS in one sitting. She is 18 above the floor and 8 above my target.
  2. If there is a test: Chidinma scores 60%. 168 divided by 8 is 21; half of 60 is 30. Her illustrative aggregate is 51.
  3. Somto: UTME 154 (19.25) and 74% at screening (37). His aggregate is 56.25, ahead of Chidinma with 14 fewer UTME marks.
  4. Ebuka: UTME 190, but no Government in his O’level. JAMB’s brochure names Government as a required credit, so he needs to add it before applying.

Social Justice draws on Government, law and current affairs. If a test is set, English, general knowledge and questions on rights, citizenship and Nigerian government are the likely ground. The JAMB Government syllabus is a good outline to revise from.

Clifford University Social Justice school fees and acceptance fee

Clifford posts its approved fees by programme on its website, under the heading “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. Social Justice appears under the Faculty of Law. The programme figures carry only the label “amount”, so treat each one as the yearly charge for the course and ask the bursary what it covers, especially hostel and feeding. Note that the requirements page groups Social Justice with the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, so confirm which faculty you will belong to when you register.

ItemAmount (2026/2027)Who pays
Acceptance feeN150,000New students, once
Matriculation feeN50,000100 level only
Social Justice programme amountN825,500Each session

In 2026/2027 terms, a new 100-level Social Justice student paying acceptance, matriculation and the programme amount needs N1,025,500 before hostel, feeding, books and personal costs. You can pay the programme amount in full, or 60% in the first semester and 40% in the second. The bank account is printed on the fees page; copy it from that page yourself, never from a message someone forwards to you.

How to apply for Social Justice at Clifford, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space, then your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Social Justice with Use of English, Government, Economics and History or Geography, and pick Clifford University. If Clifford was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution before admission closes.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at a JAMB office or accredited CBT centre, with your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB details. Clifford cannot offer you admission on CAPS without it.
  4. Apply on Clifford’s portal: go to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng (the “Apply Now” button on clifforduni.edu.ng leads there), create your account, choose Social Justice, fill the form and keep your printout.
  5. Confirm screening: call the admissions lines on Clifford’s homepage (08036970755 or 07034871571) and ask when and how Social Justice candidates will be screened.
  6. Accept on CAPS: on efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. In 2026 JAMB gave candidates four weeks to accept an offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and fees, then clear: the 2026/2027 acceptance fee was N150,000 and the matriculation fee N50,000. Pay through the official account, then bring your original documents for clearance.

Warning

Clifford University has publicly warned that people pose as its staff. Pay only into the account on Clifford’s official fees page, ignore anyone selling a guaranteed place, and remember that a real offer always shows on JAMB CAPS.

Studying Social Justice at Clifford University

Clifford introduced the course for the 2022/2023 session. A Leadership report on the eight new courses that year listed it as “Law and Social Justice”, and Clifford’s March 2023 accreditation notice names it “B.Sc. Social Justice”. The usual length of a B.Sc. in Nigeria is four years, or three through Direct Entry; Clifford does not state the duration for this course.

Is Clifford Social Justice accredited?

Yes. Clifford announced on 21 March 2023 that the NUC had granted full accreditation to eight more of its degree programmes from the late-2022 exercise, and B.Sc. Social Justice is on that list. Full accreditation normally runs for a fixed period before the NUC visits again, so ask the department whether a re-accreditation visit is due during your years there.

Social Justice is not a Law degree

The two are easy to confuse because Clifford’s fees page lists Social Justice under the Faculty of Law. A B.Sc. in Social Justice does not take you to the Nigerian Law School or the Bar. To practise law you need an LL.B. from a university that the Council of Legal Education has approved to admit Law students. Clifford was not on the Council’s list of approved universities in its notice of 14 August 2026, so if a legal career is your goal, check that list before you choose any university for Law.

What you will study

Clifford has not put the Social Justice outline online. Programmes of this kind usually include:

  • Rights and law: human rights, introduction to Nigerian law and the legal system, and access to justice.
  • Society and policy: social problems, social policy, gender studies and welfare.
  • Crime and conflict: criminology, restorative justice, and peace and conflict resolution.
  • Governance: Nigerian government, public institutions and advocacy.
  • Method: research methods, statistics and a final-year project.

Graduates work with human rights and legal aid organisations, NGOs and development agencies, social welfare and correctional services, community and peace-building programmes, and corporate social responsibility teams. Some go on to a master’s degree in human rights, criminology or peace studies.

Mistakes Social Justice applicants make

  • Thinking it is Law: it is a B.Sc. and does not lead to the Bar.
  • Leaving out Government: JAMB names it in both the UTME and the O’level.
  • Relying on a Mathematics pass: JAMB accepts it, but a credit is safer at Clifford.
  • Using three sittings: Clifford accepts not more than two.
  • Paying before confirming: because Clifford has not published this course’s rules, call the admissions office first.
