Temple Gate Poly Public Administration Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The Temple Gate Poly Public Administration cut off mark to plan with is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. See the UTME subjects, O’level rules, screening, fees and CAPS steps for 2027/2028.

The Temple Gate Poly Public Administration cut off mark you can plan with is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s minimum for every polytechnic in Nigeria for 2026/2027. Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba has not published a separate figure for ND Public Administration in any year I could trace. The course is on JAMB’s list for the school, so you can select it when you register.

2027/2028 update: Temple Gate Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Temple Gate Polytechnic is a private polytechnic at Abayi, Osisioma, on the Aba side of Abia State. NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private institution at P.O. Box 3448, Aba, with 2009 as the year the government approved it. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list shows it as Temple-gate Polytechnic with 15 course entries. Check the spelling carefully when you pick it as your institution on the JAMB portal.

Public Administration appears twice on the Myschool reprint of Temple Gate’s JAMB list, once under Administration and once under Social and Management Sciences. Both brochure entries carry the same base subjects, so the double listing does not change what you register. I found no official 2026/2027 admission notice from Temple Gate, so confirm with the polytechnic that the department is taking students before you pay for a form.

JAMB kept the polytechnic minimum at 100 for two sessions and told institutions in 2026 that the agreed marks must be strictly followed. A private polytechnic may admit above that line if it gets more applicants than places, but Temple Gate has never announced a higher mark. An old schoolings.org page about the school says only that you must meet the current JAMB minimum.

Safe target score for Public Administration at Temple Gate (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Temple Gate does not publish merit lists or applicant numbers, so nobody can give you exact odds.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Public Administration at Temple Gate
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course through JAMB this session
100 to 119Eligible; a place is likely if the course is admitting and your O’level is in order
120 to 139Good chance
140 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for about 130, with credits in English, Mathematics, Government and Economics. Small private polytechnics in Aba usually attract fewer applicants per course than Abia State Polytechnic or the federal polytechnics, so scores rarely decide the outcome on their own. That is a general pattern, and Temple Gate has published nothing to confirm or contradict it.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Public Administration at Temple Gate

RequirementND Public Administration
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Government, History and Economics (JAMB polytechnic brochure base list)
Temple Gate remark on the brochureNone, so the base list applies
O’levelFive credits including English Language (not Literature in English) and Mathematics, plus any three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Literature in English, Geography, Office Practice, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Physics, History, Typewriting and Shorthand
SittingsNot more than two (schoolings.org page on Temple Gate, unofficial)
Minimum age16 in the year of admission (same unofficial page)
Direct EntryNot applicable; the brochure’s Direct Entry section for this course is blank and ND entry is through the UTME

History is the subject that trips people up. JAMB’s base combination for Public Administration in polytechnics is Government, History and Economics, and many secondary schools no longer teach History. Around ten polytechnics have remarks on the brochure page that let candidates use Mathematics, Literature in English, Commerce or CRS instead. Temple Gate is not among them, so the base list is what applies to you.

If you never sat History in school, you can still prepare for the UTME paper on your own, because JAMB sets it from its syllabus and not from your school record. The alternative is to write to the polytechnic and ask whether it will consider a different combination. Do that before you register, since changing subjects after the exam is not possible.

On the O’level side, English Language and Mathematics are compulsory credits. I would make sure Economics and Government are among your other three. They match the UTME subjects, and a Public Administration department checks for them when it screens results.

Direct Entry and the HND route

National Diploma courses are entered through the UTME, and JAMB’s Direct Entry route is for degree programmes. After the ND, the usual NBTE pattern is a year of industrial attachment followed by the HND, which normally asks for at least a Lower Credit in the ND. Wikipedia says Temple Gate runs HND programmes, but I could not find a list confirming which courses have an HND stream. Ask the school if staying on for the HND matters to you.

How Temple Gate Poly screening works

Temple Gate has not published a screening notice for 2026/2027 that I could find, and the school website is not working. The clearest description of its admission rules is an old schoolings.org page (published 2018, last modified September 2020), which says:

  • Candidates must be at least 16 years old in the year of admission.
  • Candidates need five credits including English Language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings, from WAEC, NECO or an approved equivalent.
  • Candidates must meet the current JAMB minimum for the course.
  • Candidates who meet those conditions are then invited for the polytechnic’s internal screening.

The page gives no screening date, format or fee. Most private polytechnics screen by checking documents and sometimes a short interview or written test, but that is a general observation. Call the admissions office and ask what form screening takes this year.

Worked example (illustrative)

Take Ifeanyi, who scored 124 in English, Government, History and Economics. He has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Government and Commerce from one NECO sitting, and he will be 17 at admission.

  1. JAMB minimum: 124 minus 100 is 24, so he clears the polytechnic floor.
  2. My safe target: 130 minus 124 is 6. He sits in my good-chance band, just under where I would want him.
  3. O’level: English and Mathematics are there, plus three subjects from the brochure list, in one sitting.
  4. Age: 17 is above the minimum of 16 that the schoolings page mentions.

Some polytechnics rank applicants with an aggregate. Purely as an illustration: dividing a UTME score by 8 turns it into a mark out of 50, so Ifeanyi’s 124 becomes 15.5. Add a screening mark of 32 out of 50 and he has 47.5 out of 100. Temple Gate has never published a formula, and many small private polytechnics admit everyone who is eligible and completes the process, so use this only to see how both scores could count.

What Temple Gate Poly is reported to charge

Temple Gate has not published a fee schedule I could reach. The only figures online come from an o3schools blog post dated 26 January 2026, which credits a school tuition page I could not open. Treat them as a rough guide and get the current amounts from the bursary in writing.

ItemAmount claimed by the blog (unofficial)
Admission form (ND)₦5,000
Acceptance fee (ND)₦15,000
ND tuition, School of Business and Management Technology₦50,000

These amounts look low for a private polytechnic in 2026, and the post does not say which session they belong to, so they may be old. The same post says fees paid are not refundable, which is one more reason to confirm the course is admitting before you pay anything.

How to apply for Public Administration at Temple Gate Poly, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: choose Public Administration with Use of English, Government, History and Economics, and select Temple Gate Polytechnic as your polytechnic. If you already picked another school, use JAMB change of institution before the polytechnic starts screening.
  3. Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot match you to the course without it.
  4. Buy the Temple Gate form through the school: visit or call the admissions office in Aba, ask for the form price, closing date and screening date, and keep every receipt.
  5. Attend screening with your documents: UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification and passport photographs.
  6. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: get the acceptance fee and school fees from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.

Warning

Temple Gate Polytechnic has no official website I could open: Wikipedia’s link to its tgp.edu.ng about page is marked as dead, and the other domain blogs cite could not be confirmed. A page, WhatsApp group or agent selling forms or reserved places may have nothing to do with the school. JAMB says admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so every genuine offer appears on your CAPS page.

Your chances of admission into Public Administration at Temple Gate

  • The usual reasons applicants miss out here are paperwork problems: Mathematics registered instead of History, or an O’level result never uploaded to CAPS.
  • With 120 or more and five relevant credits, I think you are well placed, because administration courses at small private polytechnics are seldom oversubscribed.
  • If Temple Gate is not admitting into Public Administration this session, the same school lists Business Administration and Management, Accountancy and Banking and Finance. Check their UTME subjects first, because they use Mathematics and not History.
  • For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB told polytechnics to finish admissions by 31 December 2026, so keep checking CAPS until then.

What you study in ND Public Administration

Public Administration trains you for the running of government offices: how policy is made and carried out, how public funds are budgeted and controlled, and how ministries, agencies and local councils are organised. Temple Gate has not published its course outline, so this section describes the National Diploma in general terms.

  • Core courses usually include Nigerian government and politics, elements of public administration, local government administration, public finance, administrative law and personnel management.
  • Support courses usually include communication in English, introductory economics, business statistics and computer applications.
  • Students normally complete SIWES industrial training, often in a ministry, council or agency office.

Duration and accreditation

The standard NBTE pattern is two years of full-time study for the ND. Temple Gate has not confirmed its own timetable. NBTE’s directory lists the polytechnic, but I could not read the programme-level tables, so the accreditation status of Public Administration at Temple Gate is not confirmed. An old blog list of the school’s “accredited” courses includes Public Administration, but it names NABTEB as the approving body, and NABTEB is an examination board, not the accreditation body for polytechnic programmes. Ask the school to show you its NBTE accreditation for the course before you pay tuition, because many HND programmes elsewhere only accept an ND from an accredited programme.

Careers

  • Clerical and executive officer posts in state ministries, local government councils and federal agencies
  • Administrative work in schools, hospitals, churches, NGOs and private firms
  • Further study: HND Public Administration, or a degree in Public Administration or Political Science

Many officer grades in the civil service ask for an HND or a degree, so plan on the ND as your first qualification and not the last.

Mistakes Public Administration applicants make

  • Registering Mathematics instead of History: Temple Gate has no brochure remark allowing that swap.
  • Counting Literature in English as the English credit: the brochure asks for English Language.
  • Paying an agent for a form or a reserved place: buy only from the school and accept only on CAPS.
  • Leaving O’level off CAPS: a good UTME score cannot be used without the upload.
  • Stopping after CAPS acceptance: the acceptance fee, medical test and registration at the school are separate steps.

If you are preparing for 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to check your JAMB result.

Temple Gate Poly Public Administration cut off mark: FAQs

Is 110 enough for Public Administration at Temple Gate Poly? Yes, on the published rules. 110 is above JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100 and Temple Gate has announced no higher mark, though a score nearer 130 gives you more room if many people apply.

What are the JAMB subjects for Public Administration in Temple Gate Polytechnic? Use of English, Government, History and Economics. The JAMB brochure has no Temple Gate remark allowing another combination.

Can I use Literature in English instead of English Language for Public Administration? No. The brochure asks for a credit in English Language and says Literature in English does not replace it, although Literature can count as one of your other three subjects.

How much is Temple Gate Polytechnic acceptance fee? The school has not published it. One blog post from January 2026 claims ₦15,000 for ND, but confirm the amount with the bursary before you pay.

Sources and updates

The 2026/2027 polytechnic minimum of 100, the 31 December 2026 admission deadline and JAMB’s warning against admissions outside CAPS come from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria on 11 May 2026; the 2025/2026 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025). The course list is from the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for Temple Gate Polytechnic. The UTME subjects, O’level rules and polytechnic remarks for Public Administration are from the JAMB polytechnic brochure entry as reprinted by Myschool; no remark on that page names Temple Gate. The address, private ownership and 2009 approval year are from NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes. The age rule and the general five-credit rule are from a schoolings.org Temple Gate page (last modified September 2020), and the fee figures are from an o3schools post (26 January 2026); both are unofficial. Both Public Administration brochure entries (Administration and Social and Management Sciences) were checked. The safe target score and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 29 October 2026. This page will be updated when Temple Gate publishes a 2027/2028 notice.
