Peaceland University English Language and Linguistics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Peaceland University has not published a cut-off mark for English Language and Linguistics, so 150 is the floor for 2027/2028. See the JAMB subjects, a brochure error to watch for, O’level rules, a safe target score and the application steps.

The Peaceland University English Language cut off mark is not published. Peaceland has no departmental figure for English Language and Linguistics, so JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, 150, is the score that applies. You need at least 150 to be considered, and I would aim for about 160. The course is on JAMB’s list of Peaceland courses as English Language and Linguistics and on Peaceland’s 2026/2027 list as a B.A. in the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. Its NUC accreditation is not confirmed: English Language and Linguistics is not among the 17 programmes Peaceland announced as fully accredited after NUC’s 2025 exercise, so ask the university before you pay.

2027/2028 update: Peaceland University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027), which for Peaceland means JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, because the university has not published a score of its own. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Below you will find the official numbers, my safe target, the subject combination (and an error in the brochure reprint you should know about), Peaceland’s O’level rules, how it admits, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the degree involves.

Safe target score for English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. Peaceland has not published anything like it.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Peaceland English Language and Linguistics
Below 150Not eligible for any university course in 2026
150 to 159Eligible; an offer depends on your O’level grades and how early you apply
160 to 179Strong for a new private university. This is the range I would aim for.
180 and aboveVery strong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 160 or higher, with good credits in English Language and Literature in English. For this course, a B grade or better in English Language says more about you than a few extra UTME marks.

Peaceland remark in the brochureNone found

Here is the problem you should know about. Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry called “English Language and Linguistics” shows the requirements for Igbo (Igbo in the UTME and at O’level). That is almost certainly a copying error, since the entry for JAMB’s English Language course asks for Literature in English instead. I have used the English Language rule in the table above.

Open the course on JAMB’s e-brochure on your profile before you register. If it also shows Igbo, call or email Peaceland’s Admissions Office (contacts are on its FAQ page) and ask which combination it accepts. Peaceland also asks every candidate for a Mathematics credit, which the brochure’s English line does not mention.

Direct Entry

JAMB’s Direct Entry rule for English Language is two A level passes, including Literature in English and one other Arts subject. Peaceland’s FAQ also invites ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB and HND holders to apply. An NCE in English is a common route for this course, but Peaceland has not stated grades, so ask the Admissions Office first.

How Peaceland screens English Language and Linguistics applicants

Peaceland has not published a Post-UTME test, a screening fee or screening dates in any source I could reach. What its own admissions FAQ does say is this:

  • JAMB score: you need the current minimum approved by the university and the NUC. The page does not print a number, so 150 applies.
  • Not your first choice? You can still apply and do a JAMB change of institution where it is needed.
  • Direct Entry: ND, NCE, IJMB, JUPEB, HND or equivalent holders may apply.
  • Transfers: students from recognised universities may apply, subject to a review of their records.
  • O’level: at least five credits, including English Language and Mathematics, plus subjects relevant to the course.
  • Documents: O’level result, JAMB result slip, birth certificate, passport photograph, local government identification letter, NIN slip, acceptance fee receipt, school fees receipt, and your Direct Entry qualification if you have one.
  • Fees: they vary by programme, and instalment payment is allowed under university rules. Peaceland’s fee schedule lists ₦320,000 at 100 level and ₦390,000 at 200 and 300 level for the Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences, with a ₦10,000 form and ₦10,000 acceptance fee.

In practice, a young private university like Peaceland usually decides on your UTME score, your O’level grades and your documents. Some add a short test or interview. Peaceland has not said whether it does, so be ready for one.

Worked example for English Language and Linguistics candidates

Peaceland has no published aggregate formula, so there is nothing official to combine. The useful sums are the distance between your score, the 150 floor and my target.

Take Chiamaka, who scored 168 in Use of English, Literature in English, CRS and Government. She has credits in English (B2), Literature (B3), Mathematics, CRS and Government from one sitting.

  1. Eligibility: 168 minus 150 = 18. She clears the floor.
  2. Against my target: 168 minus 160 = 8. She is in my strong range.
  3. Subjects: Literature plus CRS (an Arts subject) and Government. Her combination fits JAMB’s English rule.
  4. What I would advise: check the e-brochure line for the course name, then apply early on the portal.

Ebuka scored 174 in Use of English, Government, Economics and CRS. He has no Literature in English in the UTME, which JAMB’s English rule fixes. Political Science or Public Administration would suit his subjects better, unless Peaceland tells him in writing that it will accept him.

How to apply for English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland University with Use of English, Literature in English, one other Arts subject and one more Arts or Social Science subject (confirm the line on JAMB’s e-brochure first). If Peaceland was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution, which Peaceland’s FAQ allows.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre. A result that is not on CAPS cannot be used to admit you.
  4. Apply on Peaceland’s portal: go to apply.peacelanduni.edu.ng, create an account, fill the application and upload the documents listed above. Use the same names as on your JAMB and WAEC or NECO records.
  5. Attend any screening: if Peaceland invites you for a test or interview, go with the originals of every document.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept only when the offer is the course you want. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status.
  7. Pay acceptance and school fees: pay only through Peaceland’s official student portal or at the Admissions Office, print your JAMB admission letter and go for clearance.

Warning

Peaceland says it does not authorise any admission agent. Every genuine offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and payments go through the official student portal or the Admissions Office. Anyone who asks you to pay them for a “slot” is not acting for the university.

JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities, a month after the 31 October date for public universities, and it says any admission done outside CAPS is illegal. If you sat the 2026 UTME and still have no admission, Peaceland can still offer you a place on CAPS up to that date. Check CAPS regularly and read what to do with your JAMB score if you are planning for 2027.

Your chances of getting English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland

TheCable reported, at Peaceland’s second matriculation, that the university admitted over 600 students across four faculties and that its NUC quota limited how many it could take. So there is a cap, even at a private university. In my experience, though, a new private university’s arts and social science departments are rarely as crowded as Medicine or Nursing, and qualified candidates who apply early and complete their documents tend to get offers.

English Language and Linguistics is one of the less crowded courses at most Nigerian universities. At Peaceland, I expect a candidate with 150 or more, the right subjects and a good English credit to have a fair chance.

If you want a programme with a confirmed NUC result nearby, Gregory University, Uturu’s English Language and Literature was accredited in full after a November 2024 visit, and the NUC lists Clifford University’s English Language as full until 2029.

Studying English Language and Linguistics at Peaceland University

English Language and Linguistics sits in Peaceland’s Faculty of Arts, Management and Social Sciences. The degree is a B.A. Four years is usual in Nigeria (three for Direct Entry); Peaceland has not published its own duration. Peaceland’s site also lists a B.A.(Ed.) English Language in its Faculty of Education for future teachers. That course was not on JAMB’s list of Peaceland courses when I checked, so if you want to teach, ask the university how candidates are admitted into it.

What you study

  • Sounds and structure: phonetics, phonology, morphology and syntax of English.
  • Meaning and use: semantics, pragmatics, discourse analysis and stylistics.
  • Language in society: sociolinguistics, English in Nigeria and Nigerian languages.
  • Applied linguistics: language teaching, testing and the writing skills editors and teachers use.
  • Final year: a research project, often on language use in Nigeria.

Accreditation

Peaceland University was licensed in 2023 and grew out of Peaceland College of Education, which still runs as a separate college. After NUC’s October/November 2025 accreditation exercise, Peaceland announced full accreditation for 17 programmes (reported by Uniblog NG on 23 April 2026), and English Language and Linguistics is not on that list. I also found no NUC report page naming Peaceland University for it. A programme usually gets its first accreditation visit when its first students are close to graduating, so ask the department in writing about its NUC status before you pay fees. Separately, Peaceland announced on 15 September 2026 that it had received its full operational licence, which covers the university as a whole rather than individual programmes.

One NUC report that comes up when you search “Peaceland” is for Political Science Education at Peaceland College of Education (full accreditation, visit 26 to 28 November 2024). That degree is affiliated to Abia State University and belongs to the college, not the university, so it says nothing about this programme.

  • Editing, publishing, proofreading and content writing.
  • Broadcasting, journalism and corporate communications.

Mistakes that cost English Language and Linguistics applicants a Peaceland place

  • Registering without Literature in English: JAMB’s English rule fixes it.
  • Following the Igbo line in the reprint: confirm the requirement with JAMB’s e-brochure and Peaceland first.
  • No Mathematics credit: Peaceland asks every candidate for one.
  • Paying an agent: Peaceland says it authorises none.
  • O’level not on CAPS: without it, no admission.
  • Mixing up the B.A. and the B.A.(Ed.): they are different degrees with different careers.
