NOHE College of Nursing Sciences General Nursing admission requirements, from the college’s last published adverts, are: be at least 16 years old, and hold five O’level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology at no more than two sittings of WAEC, NECO or GCE, or one sitting of NABTEB. Candidates then sit an entrance exam in those five subjects and attend an interview. The College of Nursing Sciences, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu (NOHE) has not published a departmental cut-off mark, and its adverts do not say whether a UTME score is required.
2027/2028 update: NOHE College of Nursing Sciences admission requirements and entrance exam process usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest adverts we could find (the 2024/2025 call and the 2023 exam timetable). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
One thing has changed in the college’s favour. Older lists left NOHE’s basic nursing out, but the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) list dated December 2025 shows the college’s Nursing programme with full accreditation from October 2023. What I could not find is a 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 advert from the college, so treat the dates and fee below as the last known pattern and confirm with the college before you pay.

Does NOHE College of Nursing require JAMB?
NOHE’s adverts do not mention JAMB. In February 2024, a Studentship editor replied “No” when a reader asked if NOH Enugu required JAMB for basic nursing, but that is a blog comment, not a college statement. Two things point the other way for 2027:
- JAMB now sets a separate national minimum for colleges of nursing: 140 for 2025 admissions (Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) and 150 for 2026 admissions (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026).
- The sister College of Nursing Sciences at the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, asked for at least 150 in the 2023 UTME for its ND/HND nursing screening.
| Session | JAMB minimum for colleges of nursing | NOHE figure |
|---|---|---|
| 2025/2026 | 140 | None published |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | None published |
Safe target score (consultant advice)
This is my advice, not a NOHE figure. Register for the 2027 UTME with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics and aim for 180 or more. That clears the 150 national floor with room to spare, matches the five exam subjects, and keeps you eligible for university nursing too. If NOHE confirms it does not use JAMB, you have lost only the registration fee; if it does, you are covered.
O’level and subject requirements explained
All five subjects are compulsory at credit: English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. You can combine two sittings of WAEC, NECO or GCE. NABTEB is accepted only as a single sitting, so a NABTEB result cannot be combined with another exam under the 2024/2025 wording. If your Physics or Mathematics is a pass and not a credit, write a private WAEC or NECO before the next form season.
For UTME preparation, use our JAMB Biology syllabus and JAMB Chemistry syllabus guides. The same topics carry you through the NOHE entrance exam.
Documents the college asks for
- Birth certificate or declaration of age. A baptismal card is not accepted.
- Testimonial from your last school.
- Marriage certificate, if married.
- Recent passport photographs (two in the 2024/2025 advert, three in the 2023 advert).
- Means of identification: NIN slip, voter’s card, driver’s licence or international passport.
- Originals and photocopies of all certificates, to be sighted at interview.
NOHE College of Nursing entrance exam and form: how the last cycle ran
| Stage | 2023 intake (last dated cycle) |
|---|---|
| Form fee | N16,500, paid into the NOH Enugu TSA account through Remita |
| How to pay | Generate an RRR at the College Bursar’s office or on remita.net (Pay TSA and State, FGN, National Orthopaedic Hospital Enugu), with the description “College of Nursing Science Form” |
| Form collection | From the college registrar, Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with proof of payment; online completion also allowed |
| Sale began | 2 October 2023, College of Nursing Complex, NOH Enugu |
| Closing date | 30 October 2023 |
| Exam and interview | 1 to 7 November 2023, from 9am daily |
| Enquiries | 08033170239, 08037748259 |
The 2024/2025 advert was reprinted by Myschool on 16 June 2024 without a fee or dates, so that cycle opened around mid-year, not in October. Because the timing has moved before, I would start watching for the 2027/2028 advert from May 2027 and keep watching through October.
Worked example (illustrative)
NOHE has not published how it ranks candidates. If a college of nursing combined a UTME score (divided by 8, out of 50) with an entrance exam score out of 50, two candidates might look like this:
| Candidate | UTME | UTME ÷ 8 | Entrance exam (out of 50) | Aggregate |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Uche | 230 | 28.75 | 30 | 58.75 |
| Adaeze | 170 | 21.25 | 40 | 61.25 |
Adaeze ranks higher despite the lower UTME because she did well in the college’s own exam. If NOHE ranks on its entrance exam alone, the exam matters even more. Either way, revise all five subjects.
How to apply to NOHE College of Nursing Sciences, step by step
- Create your JAMB profile: send your NIN to 55019 or 66019 from your own phone line to get a profile code, then register for the 2027 UTME with English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. See our JAMB 2027 registration dates guide.
- Pick NOHE if JAMB lists it: if the College of Nursing Sciences, NOH Enugu appears on the JAMB institution list for nursing, choose it. If you later need to switch, use our JAMB change of institution guide.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited CBT centre, upload your WAEC or NECO result so it appears on JAMB CAPS.
- Buy the college form: when the advert appears, pay through Remita to the NOH Enugu TSA account as the notice directs, and collect or fill the form.
- Sit the exam and interview: bring your documents in original and photocopy.
- Accept on CAPS if it applies: if the offer shows on JAMB CAPS, accept it there. Our JAMB CAPS guide shows how.
- Pay acceptance and fees: pay only the amounts on your admission letter through the hospital’s official account, then complete registration.
Before you pay
NOHE’s form has been paid through Remita into the hospital’s TSA account. Treat any request to pay a NOHE nursing form fee into a personal bank account or by phone transfer to an “agent” as a scam, and confirm the current advert at the College of Nursing Complex before paying.
Admission odds and advice
Nursing is one of the most competitive health courses in Enugu, and a hospital-based college takes a limited number each year. NOHE has not published its quota. I would apply to NOHE and at least one other accredited college in the same season. Other fully accredited options in Enugu on the December 2025 NMCN list include the nursing schools at UNTH, ESUTH Parklane and Bishop Shanahan Hospital, Nsukka.
- One-sitting results with strong grades in the sciences stand out.
- A UTME score well above 150 protects you if the college uses JAMB.
- Arrive at the interview with every original document; missing papers cost places.
About General Nursing at NOHE
The College of Nursing Sciences sits inside the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu, a federal specialist hospital for bone, joint, burns and plastic surgery care. The college runs basic (general) nursing, basic midwifery, and post-basic courses in orthopaedic nursing and in burns and plastic nursing. General nursing trains you to become a registered nurse: anatomy and physiology, medical and surgical nursing, community health, pharmacology, mental health and maternal and child care, with ward postings in the hospital.
NOHE has not published the length of the programme or whether it now awards an ND/HND in nursing, which many colleges of nursing have moved to. Basic nursing in Nigeria has traditionally taken three years. Ask the college which award you will get before you accept.
Accreditation
The NMCN’s December 2025 list shows the College of Nursing Sciences, National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu with Nursing: Full (October 2023), alongside Midwifery and Post Basic Orthopaedic Nursing, both also Full from October 2023. The council says full accreditation lasts five years, so this runs to about October 2028 and covers the 2027/2028 intake.
Careers

Sources and updates
The age, O’level and document rules come from NOHE’s 2024/2025 advert as reprinted by Myschool (16 June 2024). The fee, payment route, 2023 dates, exam subjects and phone numbers come from the 2023 advert as reprinted by Studentship (8 March 2024), which also carries the reader comment on JAMB; I could not check the college’s own site, consnohe.org.ng. Accreditation is from the NMCN list of approved schools (December 2025). The 150 minimum is from JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026), the 140 figure from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and the Igbobi example from Studentship’s reprint of that college’s 2023 screening notice. The safe target score, worked example and course outline are my advice and illustration. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated when NOHE advertises the 2027/2028 intake.
