There is no IMT Computer Engineering cut off mark yet. The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu, announced Computer Engineering as one of eight new programmes in June 2026, but the course is not on IMT’s list in JAMB’s brochure and not among the six departments on IMT’s Faculty of Engineering page. JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics is 100 for 2026/2027, and that is the floor that will apply once IMT lists it.
2027/2028 update: IMT cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
IMT also has not said whether Computer Engineering runs at ND, HND or both, or when the first intake starts. Until it shows under IMT Enugu on your JAMB e-brochure, the safe plan for the 2027 UTME is a related IMT course that is already listed: Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or Computer Science. This page sets out the evidence, the figures that apply, those alternatives with their subjects and my safe targets, the CAPS steps and what Computer Engineering leads to.
IMT Computer Engineering cut off mark: quick answers
| Question | Answer | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Is Computer Engineering on IMT’s JAMB list? | No. It is not among the 35 IMT courses on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure | Checked 29 October 2026; confirm on your e-brochure |
| Is it a department in IMT’s Faculty of Engineering? | No. The faculty page lists six departments, and Computer Engineering is not one of them | IMT official page |
| Has IMT announced it? | Yes, as one of eight new programmes; level and start date not stated | BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 |
| JAMB minimum for any IMT ND course | 100 | Official (JAMB 2026 policy meeting, reported by NAN) |
| IMT departmental cut-off | Not published for any ND course | No IMT figure for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 |
| Best UTME choice at IMT today | Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology | My advice |
Does IMT offer Computer Engineering through JAMB?
I checked four kinds of source. JAMB’s brochure decides which courses you can pick for IMT in the UTME, and Myschool reprints it course by course. The IMT list there has 35 entries, including Electrical/Electronics, Mechatronics and Computer Science. Computer Engineering is absent.
IMT’s own Faculty of Engineering page lists Agric, Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Electrical/Electronics Engineering. The only place Computer Engineering appears in connection with IMT is the Rector’s June 2026 speech at the Global Homecoming, reported by BusinessDay, where he named it among eight new programmes alongside Taxation, Locomotive Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and a Diploma in Law.
| Source | What it shows | Status |
|---|---|---|
| BusinessDay, 13 June 2026 (Rector’s speech) | Computer Engineering named among eight new programmes; level and start date not given | Announcement only |
| IMT Faculty of Engineering page | Six departments; no Computer Engineering | Official |
| Myschool reprint of JAMB brochure, IMT Enugu course list | 35 entries; no Computer Engineering | Checked 29 October 2026 |
| JAMB brochure entry for Computer Engineering (polytechnic) | Course exists nationally: UTME Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry. Remarks name Federal Polytechnic Nekede and others, but not IMT | Checked 29 October 2026 |
| IMT 2026/2027 ND and HND admission call | Title linked on imt.edu.ng; course list inside not seen | Could not be opened |
Put together, IMT has announced Computer Engineering but has not yet put it where a UTME candidate can choose it. If your JAMB e-brochure shows Computer Engineering under IMT Enugu when you register for 2027, that overrides this page, and you can pick it with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
IMT cut-off mark history that applies to Computer Engineering applicants
IMT does not publish course-by-course ND cut-off marks. These are the figures that govern any ND course you pick at IMT, plus the old IMT figure blogs keep reprinting.
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (Nairametrics and Channels TV, 8 July 2025) |
| 2023 UTME | 120 | IMT’s own ND screening threshold in a 2023 notice | Old; reprinted on blogs under 2026 headings |
No 2026 IMT notice repeats the 120, so do not plan with it. What has held for two sessions is JAMB’s 100. When IMT does list Computer Engineering for UTME entry, that same 100 will be the legal floor, and IMT may set its own figure above it.
How to study Computer Engineering if IMT is your target
You have three sensible paths. The first two keep you at IMT; the third keeps the exact course name but moves you to another school. Which one suits you depends on how much the name “Computer Engineering” matters to you compared with studying in Enugu.
| Route | How it works | My view |
|---|---|---|
| ND Electrical/Electronics Engineering at IMT | Covers electronics, digital circuits and microprocessors, the hardware core of Computer Engineering | My first choice for most candidates |
| ND Mechatronics or Computer Science at IMT | Mechatronics adds control and programming to hardware; Computer Science is software-led | Good if you lean towards automation or programming |
| ND Computer Engineering at another polytechnic | JAMB’s Computer Engineering entry names schools such as Federal Polytechnic Nekede in its remarks; check each school’s list on your e-brochure | Works if you can study outside Enugu |
| Wait for IMT to list it | Check the IMT list at 2027 registration; IMT has given no start date | Risky as a single plan |
IMT courses to choose instead in the UTME, with subjects and safe targets
These IMT ND courses do appear on the JAMB brochure list for IMT and sit closest to Computer Engineering. The subjects come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure, checked on 29 October 2026; the safe targets are my advice, not IMT rules.
| IMT ND course | UTME subjects (with Use of English) | My safe target |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry (IMT also accepts Biology) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Mechatronics Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing | 140 or higher; 160 is comfortable |
| Computer Science | Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Economics or Geography (IMT requires Physics) | 150 or higher; 170 is comfortable |
| Mechanical Engineering Technology | Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Technical Drawing (IMT also accepts Biology) | 140 or higher; 160 is comfortable |
If your score is under 140, Mechanical and Mechatronics are easier to get into than Electrical/Electronics or Computer Science, in my reading. If you want the closest match to Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics is the one I would pick.
O’level for these courses
For the engineering courses (Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical, Mechatronics and Civil), JAMB’s brochure asks for five O’level credits: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two more from a list that includes Further Mathematics, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Biology or Agricultural Science, Economics and English Language. A credit in English Language is required on top of that, so in practice your five should include English. For Civil Engineering, IMT’s own remark accepts four credits at one sitting or five at two.
Computer Science is different. The brochure asks for five credits including Mathematics and a basic science, and makes English Language and Physics compulsory, but it notes that IMT accepts a pass in Physics at O’level. Physics is still required in the UTME for IMT.
If you register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in the UTME and hold credits in those four plus one more science or technical subject, you meet the subject rules for every course in the table above. That keeps your CAPS options open if IMT offers you a different course from the one you chose.
How IMT screening works for ND science and engineering courses
IMT’s website links a notice titled “Call for 2026/2027 admission into ND and HND programs (regular and part-time)”, and applications run through the SLMS application page on portal.imt.edu.ng. The 2026/2027 screening fee, dates and test format were not in any official source I could open.
| Detail | What we know | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Where | portal.imt.edu.ng (SLMS Application) | Confirmed link on imt.edu.ng |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 in earlier years | Reported by blogs; not dated 2026, confirm on the portal |
| Payment | Interswitch, Enugu State IGR or Quickteller in earlier years | Reported; confirm on the portal |
| Format | Computer-based screening plus O’level upload in earlier years | Reported; IMT has not published the 2026/2027 format |
| Admission deadline for polytechnics | 31 December 2026 | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| Time to accept an offer on CAPS | Four weeks | Official (JAMB, via NAN) |
| HND form | ₦5,000 in earlier years; relevant ND with CGPA of at least 2.50 | Reported in reprinted IMT HND notices; confirm on the portal |
Worked example
Take Tobenna, who wants Computer Engineering at IMT. He scored 158 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one WAEC sitting.
- Course check: Computer Engineering is not on IMT’s JAMB list, so CAPS cannot offer it to him at IMT.
- Pick a route: he chooses Electrical/Electronics Engineering at IMT, which takes exactly his four UTME subjects.
- Against my safe target: 158 minus 150 = 8. He is just inside the range I call competitive.
- O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry plus English and Further Mathematics make the five credits the brochure asks for.
- Later: if IMT starts Computer Engineering at HND level, he asks the department whether ND Electrical/Electronics counts as a relevant entry qualification.
How to apply to IMT for the 2027 intake, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Check the IMT course list: during registration, open the IMT Enugu list on JAMB’s e-brochure. If Computer Engineering is not there, do not try to force it; choose one of the related courses above.
- Register for the UTME: Choose Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Mechatronics or Computer Science with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and pick IMT Enugu as your polytechnic choice. If you picked another school first, a JAMB change of institution is possible before IMT screening closes, and a JAMB change of course fixes a wrong course.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to an accredited CBT centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. If your result was awaiting at registration, upload it as soon as it is out.
- Fill IMT’s screening form: when the admission call appears on imt.edu.ng, apply on portal.imt.edu.ng, enter your JAMB registration number, pay through the channel the portal names and print your slip.
- Check your result and CAPS: use the result checker on the IMT portal, then log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status and open CAPS.
- Accept within four weeks: JAMB set four weeks for 2026 offers. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains every status you might see.
- Pay acceptance and clear: blogs put IMT’s acceptance fee at ₦25,000, but IMT has not published it in any source I reached. Pay only against an invoice from the IMT portal.
Warning
Anyone offering “IMT Computer Engineering admission” before the course appears on IMT’s JAMB list is selling something outside the process. All offers appear on JAMB CAPS, and fees go only through invoices on portal.imt.edu.ng.
What Computer Engineering covers and where it leads
Computer Engineering at polytechnic level trains technicians who build, repair and program the hardware side of computing: circuits, microprocessors, networks and embedded systems. It sits between Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Computer Science. Engineering technologists and technicians in Nigeria register with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), usually reaching the technologist grade after the HND.
What you study
- Electronics: circuit theory, analogue and digital electronics and logic design.
- Computer hardware: microprocessors, computer architecture, maintenance and repair.
- Programming: C or assembly programming for microcontrollers and embedded systems.
- Networks: data communication, networking and installation.
- Support courses: engineering mathematics, drawing and workshop practice.
Accreditation
At IMT’s Global Homecoming on 13 June 2026, the Rector, Prof. Sunday Gozie Ogbodo, said all courses offered by IMT are now fully accredited, after more than 70% of programmes had lost accreditation by the time he took office in 2024. An NBTE accreditation team visited in November 2025. That statement covers courses IMT already runs. I found no NBTE approval notice naming Computer Engineering at IMT, so treat its accreditation as not confirmed until IMT or NBTE publishes it.

Mistakes to avoid
- Waiting for a cut-off that does not exist: IMT has no UTME entry for this course yet.
- Picking a course JAMB does not list for IMT: CAPS can only offer what IMT has on the brochure.
- Planning with the old 120: that is a 2023 IMT figure for ND courses.
- Registering Biology to keep Computer Science open: Biology is not a UTME option for Computer Science.
- Paying agents: offers come only through CAPS.
IMT Computer Engineering cut off mark: frequently asked questions
Does IMT Enugu offer Computer Engineering? IMT announced it as a new programme in June 2026, but it is not on IMT’s JAMB brochure list or its Faculty of Engineering page, so you cannot choose it in the UTME yet.
What is the cut off mark for Computer Engineering in IMT? There is none yet because there is no UTME entry. Any ND course IMT does list needs at least 100, JAMB’s 2026 polytechnic minimum.
Which course should I choose in JAMB instead of Computer Engineering at IMT? I would choose Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Mechatronics and Computer Science are the next closest.
What are the JAMB subjects for Computer Engineering in polytechnics? JAMB’s polytechnic brochure lists Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus Use of English. Check each polytechnic’s own remarks on your e-brochure.
Sources and updates
The new programme list is from the Rector’s speech reported by BusinessDay (13 June 2026). The department list is from IMT’s Faculty of Engineering page. IMT’s JAMB course list is from Myschool’s IMT Enugu course list, and the national Computer Engineering subjects and remarks from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Computer Engineering (polytechnic), both checked on 29 October 2026. The subjects for the alternative IMT courses come from their JAMB brochure entries on Myschool, checked the same day. The 100 minimum, the 31 December 2026 polytechnic admission deadline and the four-week acceptance window come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026); the 2025 minimum is from Nairametrics and Channels TV (8 July 2025). The 120 figure is from a 2023 IMT notice reprinted by O3schools. Screening and acceptance fees and the HND rule are from blogs and unofficial. Safe targets are my advice. This page will be updated as soon as IMT lists Computer Engineering for UTME entry.
