FCE Eha-Amufu has no UTME cut-off mark for Fine and Applied Arts (NCE) for 2027/2028 candidates who have at least four O’level credits. Under the national admission policy agreed on 11 May 2026, NCE applicants with four credits do not sit the UTME; they register with JAMB and are admitted through CAPS. The college has not published a separate figure for Fine and Applied Arts, so your O’level result, your art ability and the college’s selection exercise are what count.
2027/2028 update: FCE Eha-Amufu admission requirements and entry rules usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the rules on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official position (the 2026/2027 national admission policy and JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide) and the college’s most recent advert we could trace. If the 2027/2028 rules change anything, we will update this page.
Fine and Applied Arts is a double major at Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu, so all your subject courses are in art for the three years. Below you will find the cut-off history, the O’level subjects that make an art application strong, JAMB’s NCE costs, how selection works, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what an art teacher’s certificate can lead to. The college’s 2026/2027 course list was not online, so confirm that this programme is taking students before you pay.

FCE Eha-Amufu Fine and Applied Arts cut-off mark history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | No UTME score needed | NCE candidates with at least four O’level credits are exempt from the UTME but must register with JAMB and be admitted through CAPS | Official national policy (11 May 2026) and JAMB’s June 2026 NCE guide |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum UTME score for colleges of education | Official national figure (JAMB, July 2025) |
| 2021/2022 | 100 | Minimum UTME score in FCE Eha-Amufu’s NCE screening advert | College advert, as reprinted by Myschool (1 October 2021) |
| Undated blog figure | 100 or “110 and above” | Figures a blog printed for candidates who chose the college | Unofficial; no college document cited |
Up to 2025/2026 the college admitted NCE candidates from the national minimum of 100. Since the 2026 decision, a credit holder needs no UTME score at all, and no national figure was set for colleges of education. A cut-off of 100 quoted for 2027 is an old number.
There is one wrinkle in the reporting. Nairametrics (11 May 2026) wrote that the NCE exemption would take effect from the 2027 admission cycle, while JAMB’s own June 2026 NCE registration guide and Legit’s report of 23 July 2026 show it was already applied in 2026. Either way, the result for a 2027/2028 candidate is the same: if you have four or more credits, you do not sit the UTME for NCE.
O’level requirements for Fine and Applied Arts at FCE Eha-Amufu
These come from the college’s 2021/2022 advert as reprinted by Myschool, with the alternative certificates from a later blog reprint. The college has not re-issued them for 2026/2027.
| Requirement | What applies |
|---|---|
| Credits | Four credit passes in not more than two sittings |
| Compulsory | English Language and Mathematics |
| Relevant subjects | Two credits relevant to the course; Fine Art (Visual Art) is the obvious one |
| Exams accepted | WAEC SSCE, NECO SSCE, NABTEB, GCE O’level |
| Teacher route | Grade II Teacher’s Certificate (TC II) with credit or merit in four subjects |
| Vocational route | RSA, City and Guilds Intermediate or Federal Craft Training Certificate with four credits or merits (blog reprint of the college advert; unverified) |
| UTME | Not needed with four credits; JAMB registration still needed |
Do you need a Fine Art credit?
The college has not said so in writing. JAMB’s degree-level brochure entry for Education/Fine and Applied Arts, as reprinted by Myschool, asks for five credits including Fine Art and English Language, and one university on that page will consider a candidate without a single-sitting Fine Art credit. For NCE at Eha-Amufu I would treat a Fine Art or Visual Art credit as close to essential. If you do not have one, a strong portfolio is the next best thing, and you should ask the department before applying.
| Your O’level profile | My read for NCE Fine and Applied Arts at Eha-Amufu |
|---|---|
| No credit in English or Mathematics | Not eligible. Resit before applying |
| Four credits including English and Maths, no art subject | Weak; ask the department first |
| English, Maths, Fine Art and one Arts subject | Good fit |
| English, Maths, Fine Art at B grade, plus Literature, History or Technical Drawing | The profile I would aim for |
The table is my consultant advice and not a college rule.
If you also sit the UTME as a backup
The brochure lists Fine Arts, one other Arts subject and any other subject for the UTME, with Use of English compulsory. Confirm it on the JAMB e-brochure before you register. Remember that JAMB suspends any UTME process once you are recommended for NCE, so decide which route matters more to you.
JAMB NCE registration costs and rules
JAMB’s June 2026 guide for NCE candidates set out these costs and rules. They are the latest official figures.

| NCE application | ₦3,500, plus a ₦700 CBT centre (IPRC) charge |
| Who proposes you | The college proposes candidates on CAPS and the Provost recommends them |

How selection works for Fine and Applied Arts
Blog reprints of the college’s adverts describe portal registration, a Remita invoice, a passport upload, your JAMB, O’level and birth certificate details and a printed acknowledgement slip. The adverts say every candidate must pass the college’s selection process. Art departments often ask for a drawing test or a look at your work, but nothing published for Eha-Amufu confirms one, so prepare as if there will be.
| Detail | What we know |
|---|---|
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 in the 2021/2022 advert; current fee not published |
| Selection test | Required by the advert; format not published |
| Portfolio or drawing test | Not published for this college; UNN’s brochure remark mentions practical interviews for its Direct Entry art candidates |
| O’level on CAPS | Required before the college can propose you |
| Ranking formula | Not published |
What to bring if a practical is fixed
- Five to ten pieces of your own work: drawings from life, a painting, a design piece and any craft work.
- Basic materials: pencils (HB to 6B), eraser, sharpener and a drawing board or clip board.
- Printed acknowledgement slip and original results: you will need them at any screening point.
Worked example (illustrative)
These candidates are invented. The test is whether each one meets the advert and is ready for a practical.
Somto has WAEC in one sitting: English Language C4, Mathematics C6, Visual Art B2, Literature in English C5, Civic Education B3, Biology D7.
- Credits: five. Pass.
- English and Mathematics: both credits. Pass.
- Two relevant subjects: Visual Art and Literature in English. Pass.
- Sittings: one. Pass.
- My verdict: strong. He should build a small portfolio now and register for NCE as soon as JAMB opens.
Adaeze has NECO: English C5, Mathematics C5, Government C6, CRS B3, Economics C6, no art subject. She meets the four-credit count but has no art credit. I would advise her to ask the department whether a portfolio can stand in, or consider Christian Religious Studies or Social Studies combinations, which match her results.
Your chances and my advice
- Art is a smaller field: fewer applicants than the big science and language pairings, so a candidate with a Fine Art credit is usually well placed.
- Keep a portfolio: have it ready even if no one asks for it.
- Mathematics is still compulsory: art candidates miss this more than most.
- Register early: the college proposes candidates on CAPS, and the 2026/2027 window for colleges of education runs until 31 December 2026.
How to apply for Fine and Applied Arts (NCE) at FCE Eha-Amufu
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN. JAMB replies with a profile code you take to a registration centre.
- Register with JAMB for NCE: the NCE route needs JAMB registration even without a UTME score. Buy your O’level verification code first, then register at a CBT centre and pick Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu with Fine and Applied Arts as your course. If JAMB already has you down for another school, use a JAMB change of institution before the college starts proposing candidates.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded to your JAMB profile at an accredited centre. JAMB’s guide says awaiting-result candidates cannot be proposed until the result is in, so do this as soon as your result is out.
- Apply on the college portal: create a profile, generate the screening invoice, pay, upload a passport photograph and fill in your O’level, birth certificate and JAMB details, then print the acknowledgement slip. The college’s 2021 advert charged ₦2,000 through a portal invoice paid at a bank; the 2026/2027 fee and dates were not published in any source I reached.
- Attend the selection exercise if one is fixed: the college’s adverts say candidates must pass its selection process. Take your printed slip and original results.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. For 2026/2027, JAMB gave four weeks to accept an offer before it could be withdrawn. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: print your admission letter and pay acceptance and school charges through the college portal. A blog puts the acceptance fee at ₦5,000 through Remita, but the figure looks old and the college has not published one I could check, so confirm it on the portal.
Warning
JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal, and that includes NCE. Nobody can sell you an FCE Eha-Amufu NCE “slot”. Pay only through an invoice generated on the college portal or the JAMB system, and confirm that your course is still running before you pay any fee.
Studying Fine and Applied Arts (NCE) at Eha-Amufu
The college sits in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State. It started in 1981 and became federal in 1993. The regular NCE takes three years, and a sandwich option over five long vacations has been advertised for serving teachers.
What you study
- Drawing and painting: still life, figure drawing, colour and composition.
- Applied arts: graphic design, textile design, ceramics and sculpture.
- Art history: African and Western art, including Nigerian traditional art forms.
- Teaching art: methods for teaching Cultural and Creative Arts in basic schools.
- Education and general studies: psychology, curriculum, assessment and general courses, then teaching practice.
This is the usual NCCE pattern for the subject. The college’s own course outline is not online.
Accreditation
The college is listed as open on the NCCE accredited colleges list. In 2016 NCCE accredited 17 of its 20 programmes and gave the other three interim accreditation, according to Myschool, but the report did not name them. Accreditation of Fine and Applied Arts for 2027/2028 is not confirmed, so ask the college.
Is it still a college of education?
Yes. The NCCE list of accredited colleges (checked 29 October 2026) still shows Federal College of Education, Eha-Amufu as a federal college of education with the status “open”. A House of Representatives bill to upgrade it to a Federal University of Education passed second reading, but I found no record of a third reading, Senate passage or presidential assent. Until that happens, the college admits NCE students under NCCE rules. If you see an advert using the name “Federal University of Education, Eha-Amufu”, check it against the college’s own channels before paying anything.
Careers and next steps
- Teaching: Cultural and Creative Arts in primary and junior secondary schools. NCE is the minimum teaching qualification in Nigeria, and teachers register with TRCN.
- Degree: JAMB’s brochure lists an NCE merit in Fine and Applied Arts (double major) as a Direct Entry qualification for the B.A. (Ed) or B.Ed in the subject. See our UNN Fine and Applied Arts guide.
- Creative work: graphic design, signwriting, textile printing, illustration and studio practice.

Mistakes that cost art applicants a place
- No Mathematics credit: compulsory for every course in the advert.
- No art subject and no portfolio: leaves the department little to judge you on.
- Skipping JAMB registration: the UTME is waived for four-credit candidates, but JAMB registration and CAPS are not.
- Late O’level upload: the college cannot propose you until the result is on CAPS.
- Letting the CAPS offer lapse: JAMB gave four weeks to accept in 2026/2027.
