GOUNI Physics with Electronics Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

GOUNI’s Physics with Electronics cut-off mark is 150. The JAMB subjects, O’level and Direct Entry rules, online admission steps, fee guide and how the course differs from Electrical Engineering.

The GOUNI Physics with Electronics cut-off mark is 150 in the UTME. Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, published 150 as the minimum JAMB score for all programmes other than Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Law in 2026/2027, and Physics with Electronics is one of them. No higher departmental figure exists, and the online application form is free.

2027/2028 update: GOUNI cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

JAMB lists the course for GOUNI as Physics with Electronics, so you can register it under that exact name. It is a four-year B.Sc. in the Faculty of Natural Science and Environmental Studies. GOUNI’s own handbook describes it as a way to study electronics through physics “without the Electrical Engineering aspects”, which tells you what it is and what it is not.

This page covers the official cut-off, the score I would aim for, the subject combination, the O’level and Direct Entry rules (including GOUNI’s own remark in JAMB’s brochure), the online admission process, the fee picture, the course content level by level, and how it compares with Electrical Engineering elsewhere in Enugu.

Is 150 enough for Physics with Electronics at GOUNI?

Yes. GOUNI’s 2026/2027 admission page sets these minimum JAMB scores: Medicine and Surgery 200, Nursing 180, Law 200, Architecture 150, Computer Science 150, Education 150 and other programmes 150. Physics with Electronics is not named separately, so the 150 for other programmes applies. GOUNI publishes no merit list, so there is no hidden higher figure to chase.

In practice, the candidates who miss out on this course at GOUNI are the ones with a weak O’level, not a weak UTME. Physics and Chemistry credits are not negotiable here, and GOUNI will not combine more than two sittings.

Safe target score (my advice)

Your UTME scoreMy read for Physics with Electronics at GOUNI
Below 150Not eligible at any Nigerian university in 2026/2027
150 to 159Eligible at GOUNI; SUMAS Electrical and Electronics Engineering also takes 150
160 to 179Comfortable at GOUNI; also clears UNN’s 160 floor for Electrical and Electronic Engineering
180 and aboveStrong; ESUT’s Electrical and Electronics Engineering band (180) opens too

I would aim for 170 or more in the 2027 UTME. You will not need it for GOUNI, but if you are still torn between this course and an engineering degree, 170 to 180 keeps both doors open until CAPS offers come in.

UTME subjects and O’level for Physics with Electronics

RequirementWhat it says
UTME subjects (JAMB)Use of English, Physics, Mathematics, and Chemistry or Biology
O’level (JAMB)Five credits including English Language, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, plus one other science (Further Mathematics, Biology or Agricultural Science)
GOUNI remark in the brochure (credited to “GODFREY”)Five credits in not more than two sittings; for Physics with Electronics, credits in English, Mathematics and Physics, with the other sciences as listed
GOUNI handbook (2023 to 2028)Five credits in not more than two sittings, including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
Direct Entry (JAMB)NCE, or two A-level passes in Physics and Mathematics or Chemistry
Direct Entry (GOUNI handbook)At least two A-level passes in Physics and Mathematics, entering at 200 level
JUPEB combination on GOUNI’s form pagePhysics, Mathematics, Chemistry

Myschool’s reprint of the GODFREY remark also lists further routes such as HND, IJMB, NCE merit passes in Physics and Mathematics, and ND credits in electrical, electronics or telecommunications engineering with Mathematics. The text is cut short on the reprint, so treat those as routes to ask GOUNI about, and confirm them before you register for Direct Entry. A separate remark on the Physics page, credited to “GOUU”, adds Biology among GOUNI’s O’level credits for Physics.

What I would register

  • UTME: Use of English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. Biology is allowed by JAMB, but Chemistry matches GOUNI’s handbook, its JUPEB line and most electronics and engineering alternatives.
  • O’level: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology or Further Mathematics, in one or two sittings. Further Mathematics is the most useful fifth subject for this course if you have it; Biology covers the GOUU remark.
  • Direct Entry: A-level (or JUPEB) Physics and Mathematics. GOUNI’s handbook asks for those two specifically, so Physics and Chemistry alone may not be enough.

How GOUNI admission works

GOUNI does not describe a written Post-UTME test for undergraduates. You apply online, GOUNI checks your UTME score, O’level and JAMB course, and it e-mails a decision within three working days.

Worked example

Ifeanyi scored 158 in English, Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry. He has credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Further Mathematics and Technical Drawing across two NECO and WAEC sittings. He chose GOUNI Physics with Electronics first.

  1. Score check: 158 minus 150 = 8. He clears GOUNI’s minimum.
  2. Subject check: his UTME matches JAMB’s line, and his O’level covers English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in two sittings, as GOUNI’s handbook asks. Further Mathematics is on JAMB’s list of fifth sciences.
  3. Course check: JAMB lists the course for GOUNI under the same name, so his CAPS record and GOUNI form match.
  4. Result: he applies online and accepts on CAPS when the offer shows.

Ngozi has an OND in Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at upper credit and wants Direct Entry. JAMB’s main line asks for NCE or A-levels, while the GODFREY remark mentions ND routes. She should e-mail GOUNI admissions before buying the JAMB Direct Entry form, ask whether her OND qualifies for 200 level Physics with Electronics, and keep the reply.

How to apply to GOUNI for Physics with Electronics

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the right course: pick Godfrey Okoye University and the course exactly as JAMB lists it, Physics with Electronics, with the correct UTME subjects.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: GOUNI says candidates who did not choose it first must do a JAMB change of institution to GOUNI. Our change of institution guide walks you through it.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre, and check that every grade shows correctly on your e-Facility profile.
  5. Fill GOUNI’s online form: open the Fill Admission Form page on gouni.edu.ng and apply for Physics with Electronics. Use an e-mail address you check daily, because the decision comes by e-mail.
  6. Form fee: free. GOUNI charges a ₦5,000 form fee only for Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Law.
  7. Wait for the e-mail: GOUNI says it replies within three working days of submission.
  8. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  9. Pay fees the right way: accept the offer on CAPS, then pay acceptance, tuition, ICT and other fees through GOUNI’s official online platform.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, and GOUNI repeated that date in its news post of 12 May 2026. That window runs until 30 November 2026. JAMB has not announced the 2027/2028 dates yet; they normally come after the UTME, so 2027 candidates should watch for them then.

Warning

GOUNI tells applicants to pay only through the university’s official online payment platform and says money paid into a personal account is at the payer’s own risk. Nobody can sell you a GOUNI admission slot. Every genuine offer shows on JAMB CAPS.

GOUNI Physics with Electronics fees

GOUNI’s 2025/2026 fee schedule does not have a separate row for Physics with Electronics. The Physics row in the same faculty is the closest guide; Mathematics and Statistics and Demography carry the same figures, which suggests a single science fee band. Confirm the exact figure for Physics with Electronics with the Bursary.

Level (read in order)Physics row, 2025/2026 (closest guide)
100 level₦820,000
200 level₦790,000
300 level₦740,000
400 level₦750,000
Other 2025/2026 chargesAmount
Acceptance fee (100 level)₦30,000
Matriculation (100 level)₦20,000
Online course registration and ICT (every level)₦60,000
Library (every level)₦20,000
Medical and drug test (100 to 300 level)₦10,000
Parents’ Forum (every level)₦10,000
Faculty and departmental fees (every level)₦5,000 and ₦3,000
All listed “other fees” for a 100 level student₦201,500 as totalled on the schedule
IT/SIWES fee (300 level, Natural Science and Computing students)₦7,000

Two things to know about that schedule. It gives four figures per programme under headings that run from 100 to 600 level, without saying which columns the four figures belong to, so I read them in order as 100 to 400 level. And its heading says “tuition and accommodation fees” without splitting the two. GOUNI lets you pay 60 percent of tuition in the first semester and the other 40 percent within three months of resumption; every other fee must be paid in full before course registration. Payment is through the portal (Etranzact CREDO), never into a personal account. Expect the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 figures to be higher, and confirm them with the Bursary before you budget.

What you study in GOUNI Physics with Electronics

GOUNI’s handbook sets a minimum of 120 credit units for UTME entrants and 90 for Direct Entry. The first two years are close to the Physics degree. The electronics weight builds from 300 level.

100General Physics I to IV (mechanics, electricity and magnetism, behaviour of matter, waves and optics), practical physics, Elementary Mathematics I and II, Introduction to Computing SciencesGeneral Chemistry for Physics I and II, with a practical
200Thermal Physics, Energy and Environment, Classical Physics, Workshop Practice, Entrepreneurship and InnovationIntroduction to Web Technologies, Workshop Practice II (Electronics), Computer Programming for Physics I, MATLAB for Physics, Electrical and Electronic Circuit Design (elective), Introduction to Space Science (elective)

400Digital Systems, Digital Communication Systems, Digital Electronics, Advanced Electronics Laboratory, Quantum Mechanics, Mathematical Methods, ProjectNuclear Physics, Renewable Energy II, Design and Installation of Electrical and ICT Equipment (elective), Remote Sensing (elective)

The industrial attachment (PHY 399) is 12 weeks at 300 level, preferably during the long vacation, worth 3 units. The handbook’s stated aims include preparing students for postgraduate work in physics or electronics engineering and for self-employment, and it names areas such as microelectronics, renewable energy, space science and medical imaging.

Physics with Electronics or Electrical Engineering?

This is the question I get most about this course. Physics with Electronics is a B.Sc. in the sciences. Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a B.Eng. that COREN, the engineering council, has a role in accrediting. GOUNI’s handbook says plainly that its programme covers electronics without the electrical engineering side, so it will not lead straight to COREN registration as an engineer.

A word on professional bodies, because agents like to wave them about. In May 2025 NUC told universities that professional bodies may not accredit university programmes on their own; only seven councils (MDCN, CLE, NMCN, PCN, VCN, COREN and ARCON) were given waivers, according to The Sun’s report of 22 May 2025. COREN is one of those seven, which is why engineering degrees carry a COREN step and this physics degree does not. For admission, the status that matters is NUC’s.

Accreditation

GOUNI’s accreditation page says all its programmes have NUC accreditation, with no dates. Physics with Electronics was not among the 13 programmes reported as fully accredited in August 2021, and I could not find an NUC report naming it; NUC’s online results PDF stops before universities beginning with G. So its NUC status is not confirmed by an NUC document. Ask GOUNI admissions for it in writing before you pay.

Careers after Physics with Electronics
