Gregory University Theatre Arts Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

Gregory University has no separate Theatre Arts cut-off; JAMB’s 150 floor applies and about 170 is a safe target. Literature is compulsory in the UTME, and NUC accreditation for the course is not confirmed.

The Gregory University Theatre Arts cut off mark is not published as a separate figure. Gregory used 140 as its general minimum UTME score in the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 notices, but JAMB’s minimum for universities in 2026 is 150, so plan with 150 as the floor and aim for about 170 to be comfortable. Theatre Arts is on JAMB’s list of Gregory courses, and you register it as Theatre Arts. The JAMB rule for the course makes Literature in English compulsory in the UTME.

2027/2028 update: Gregory University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest notices Gregory has published (2024/2025 and 2025/2026) and JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because no 2026/2027 Gregory notice with a score was available. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

I could not find an NUC accreditation result for Gregory’s Theatre Arts programme: NUC has no report page for it, and Gregory’s section of NUC’s 1990 to 2025 results publication would not load. I also could not open Gregory’s College of Humanities page to confirm the department’s current name; AdmitNode lists it as Theatre and Media Studies. So confirm with the university that the programme is running and accredited before you pay. If you want an arts course at Gregory with a confirmed NUC result, English Language and Literature in English received full accreditation (89%) after a visit from 21 to 23 November 2024, according to its NUC report page.

Gregory has never published a separate figure for Theatre Arts. The 140 in both notices covered every course. JAMB raised the floor for universities to 150 at its May 2026 policy meeting, so no university can admit a candidate below 150 in the 2026 cycle, and I would not expect the floor to fall back for 2027. Treat 150 as the line you must cross and anything above it as your margin.

Safe target score for Theatre Arts at Gregory (my advice)

Theatre Arts draws fewer applicants than Law or Mass Communication at most universities, and Gregory is a private university with fees that thin out the field further. That makes the course easier to get into than its neighbours in the Humanities. The bands below are my judgement, not a Gregory rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Gregory Theatre Arts
Below 150Not eligible in the 2026 cycle
150 to 164Eligible; admission is possible if your O’level fits
165 to 179Good
180 and aboveStrong

UTME subject combination and O’level for Gregory Theatre Arts

RequirementTheatre Arts
UTME subjectsUse of English, Literature in English and two other relevant subjects
My subject adviceLiterature in English, Government and CRS, or Literature, History and Government
O’level (JAMB general line)Five credits including English Language and Arts subjects
O’level (safe version for Gregory)Five credits including English Language, Mathematics and Literature in English
SittingsNot more than two (Gregory’s 2025/2026 notice)
Direct EntryTwo A level passes in Arts, Social Science or Science subjects
Gregory-specific remarkNone in the brochure reprint

The UTME line in the JAMB brochure entry for Theatre Arts (Myschool reprint) reads Literature in English and two other relevant subjects. A few universities have remarks allowing any three subjects (NDU and UI), but Gregory has no remark, so Literature is compulsory for you. Candidates ask on student forums whether Gregory takes Theatre Arts without Literature; under the JAMB rule, it does not.

The general O’level line is loose: five credits including English and Arts subjects, with no mention of Mathematics. Nigerian universities almost always expect a Mathematics credit at clearance, and most universities on the same brochure page that add a remark ask for Literature in English too. My advice is to have credits in English, Mathematics and Literature before you apply. That covers you whichever reading the department uses at clearance.

For Direct Entry, the general rule is two A level passes in Arts, Social Science or Science subjects. Universities such as DELSU, UNIUYO and FUL also accept NCE in Theatre Arts or a related diploma through their own remarks; Gregory has no such remark, so ask the admissions office whether it takes NCE or diploma holders before you buy a DE form.

How Gregory University screening works for Theatre Arts

Gregory runs an online post-UTME registration. The details below come from the university’s 2024 notice and the 2025/2026 notice as reprinted by Myschool. I could not find 2026/2027 dates or a new fee, so treat the fee as last year’s figure.

Worked example for a Theatre Arts candidate

Gregory has not published how it ranks candidates, so there is no official aggregate to calculate. You can still check your margin above the floor and whether your O’level fits the course. The method below is my illustration, not a Gregory formula.

Take Ifeoma, who scored 172 with English, Literature in English, Government and CRS, and has B3 in English, B2 in Literature, C6 in Mathematics, C4 in Government and B3 in CRS from two sittings.

  1. National floor: 172 minus 150 = 22.
  2. Against my safe target: 172 minus 170 = 2. She is in the good band.
  3. O’level check: English, Mathematics and Literature are credits, plus two Arts subjects. Two sittings are allowed.
  4. What I would advise: register for screening early and keep Theatre Arts as her course.

Tunde scored 181 but wrote the UTME with English, Government, Economics and CRS. His score is good, but without Literature in the UTME he does not meet JAMB’s rule for Theatre Arts. He could be considered for another Humanities or Social Science course that his subjects fit, or rewrite the UTME next year with Literature.

How to apply for Theatre Arts at Gregory University, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME correctly: pick Theatre Arts as the course and Use of English, Literature in English and two other Arts or Social Science subjects as your subjects, with Gregory University, Uturu as your first choice.
  3. Fix your choice if needed: if Gregory was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before you register for screening. The 2025/2026 notice was for candidates who chose Gregory first.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. A university cannot recommend you on CAPS without it.
  5. Register for screening: on the Gregory post-UTME portal, fill the form, upload your passport photograph (PDF), UTME result and O’level result, then pay the screening fee online.
  6. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status and then Access my CAPS. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Accept on CAPS: accept the offer, print your JAMB admission letter, then follow Gregory’s instructions for the acceptance fee and clearance. I did not find Gregory’s acceptance fee in any source, so confirm the amount on the official portal before paying.

Warning

Gregory University tells applicants to pay only through its official portals and says it has no authorised agents. Every genuine admission shows on JAMB CAPS, so ignore anyone selling a “slot” or a “special list”.

For the 2026/2027 cycle, JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the admission deadline for private universities, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). JAMB also said admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. The phone lines on Gregory’s 2024 admission notice were 0806 094 4681 and 0803 733 3920.

Studying Theatre Arts at Gregory University

Gregory University is a private university licensed in 2012 and sited at Amaokwe Achara, Uturu, in Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State. Its founder is Prof. Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe. The university lists twelve colleges on its website and says it runs over 55 programmes. A Voice of Nigeria report in September 2026 named Prof. Cele U. Njoku as Vice-Chancellor.

Theatre Arts falls under Gregory’s College of Humanities, alongside English and Literary Studies, French, and History and International Studies. AdmitNode names the department Theatre and Media Studies; I could not confirm the name on Gregory’s own pages. A B.A in Theatre Arts in Nigeria normally takes four years; Gregory has not published the duration.

NUC accreditation

NUC publishes a report page for each programme it visits. I found pages naming Gregory for English Language and Literature in English, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations, Insurance, Medical Laboratory Science and Health Education, all with full accreditation. None covers Theatre Arts. Ask the department for its current NUC accreditation letter, or check the NUC website, before you pay the acceptance fee. These are the Humanities and arts options at Gregory and what I could confirm:

Mistakes that cost Theatre Arts applicants

  • Writing the UTME without Literature: JAMB’s rule for Theatre Arts makes it compulsory and Gregory has no exception.
  • Planning with 140: JAMB’s 150 floor applies now.
  • Skipping Mathematics at O’level: the JAMB line does not name it, but universities usually check for it at clearance.
  • Gregory not as first choice: fix it with a change of institution before screening.
  • Paying before checking accreditation: ask for the department’s NUC letter first.

If you missed out this year, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.

Gregory University Theatre Arts cut off mark: FAQs

Can I study Theatre Arts at Gregory University without Literature? Not under JAMB’s rule. The brochure asks for Literature in English and two other relevant subjects in the UTME, and Gregory has no remark that changes it.

Is 160 good for Theatre Arts at Gregory University? 160 clears JAMB’s 150 floor and is enough to apply. My safe target is about 170, so 160 can work if your O’level is strong.

Is Gregory University Theatre Arts accredited by NUC? I could not find an NUC result for it. Gregory’s English Language and Literature programme has full accreditation, but ask the university for the Theatre Arts letter before paying.

Does Gregory University require Mathematics for Theatre Arts? JAMB’s general O’level line does not name Mathematics, and Gregory has not published a course rule. Get a Mathematics credit anyway, because universities usually check for it at clearance.
