UNIUYO Soil Science and Land Resources Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

UNIUYO screens Soil Science and Land Resources Management candidates from 150, first choice only. JAMB lists it as Soil Science; see the subjects, O’level, DE options, safe target and screening steps.

The UNIUYO cut off mark for Soil Science and Land Resources Management is 150 in the UTME, and that is the figure 2027 candidates should plan with. The University of Uyo set 150 as the minimum for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and only for candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice. The department sits in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Agriculture, and UNIUYO did not publish a separate figure for it.

2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

UNIUYO does not publish a departmental cut-off for Soil Science and Land Resources Management or for any other course. The 150 is a gate into screening, and the department then fills its places on merit, so the score of the last person admitted sits above 150 and changes every year. My safe target score for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO is 195 or more; that is my own advice, explained below, and it is not a UNIUYO figure.

The 150 floor and the first-choice rule held in the last two sessions. Soil Science is usually among the least competitive courses at UNIUYO, which makes it a common Transfer Approval destination.

Safe target score for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. UNIUYO has never published these bands, so treat them as planning numbers.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO
Below 150Not eligible for UNIUYO screening in any course
150 to 159Eligible to apply, but a Soil Science and Land Resources Management place is unlikely; you may be offered a related course instead
160 to 174A fair chance, helped by good O’level grades
175 to 194Good chance
195 and aboveStrong. This is the range I would aim for.

Soil Science usually receives fewer first-choice applicants than the science and health courses, and courses like it are common destinations for Transfer Approval offers on CAPS. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 175, ideally 195, and pair it with clean O’level credits in the subjects listed below.

Merit, catchment and the federal quota

UNIUYO is a federal university, so it admits under the federal guidelines that JAMB applies: 45% of places on merit, 35% for catchment states and 20% for educationally less developed states. UNIUYO has not published which states it treats as its catchment in any source I reached. In practice, a candidate who misses the merit list can still be picked on catchment or ELDS, which is one reason two people with the same score can get different results.

UTME subject combination and O’level requirements for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO

RequirementSoil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO
UTME subjectsUse of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, plus Mathematics or Physics
O’levelFive credits: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and any other science subject
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO or NABTEB (GCE also accepted by most universities); confirm on the portal
SittingsJAMB’s brochure gives no UNIUYO sitting rule for this course; UNIUYO’s Basic Studies advert allows two sittings for that route. One sitting is safer
Direct EntryTwo A level passes in Chemistry and one of Zoology, Botany, Agricultural Science, Biology, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, Geology, Economics or Health Science. No UNIUYO-specific DE remark
Other requirementNo course test or interview is mentioned in the 2026/2027 notice

JAMB’s Soil Science page has remarks for SALEM, MAUTECH, RSUST, UNICAL, IMSU, ABSU, MOUAU, FUAM and a few others, and none for UNIUYO. The general lines are what count. Physics is optional at O’level as long as your fifth credit is another science.

UNIUYO’s department is called Soil Science and Land Resources Management in its 2026/2027 advert, while JAMB lists the course for UNIUYO simply as Soil Science. Choose that entry on JAMB.

Basic Studies: another way into Soil Science and Land Resources Management

UNIUYO also runs a one-year Basic Studies programme that feeds all its faculties. The 2026/2027 advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs Blossom E. Okorie, asks for five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings, says no JAMB score is required, and lets successful students move into 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course criteria. The form cost ₦15,500, and admission is usually through a CBT screening test. For agriculture courses the advert also lists a one-year Pre-Degree route (science, agriculture and education only), but its score rules contradict each other, so ask the admissions office before you rely on it.

How UNIUYO Post-UTME screening works

The 2026/2027 notice was titled “Sale of Admissions form for 2026/2027 Post-UTME/Direct Entry Screening Exercise”. It opened screening to UTME candidates with 150 or more who picked UNIUYO first, and to Direct Entry candidates who picked UNIUYO first in JAMB DE.

UNIUYO’s notice calls the process a “screening exercise” and says nothing about a written or CBT test for regular candidates, so I can’t tell you there is a test or that there isn’t. Prepare as if there will be one, using the JAMB syllabus for your four subjects.

Worked example for a Soil Science and Land Resources Management candidate

UNIUYO has not published how it ranks candidates, so the useful calculation is the gap between your score, the 150 minimum and the safe target.

Take Akaninyene Udofia, who scored 182 with B3 in English, C5 in Mathematics, C4 in Chemistry, B3 in Agricultural Science and C6 in Biology.

  1. Eligibility: 182 minus 150 = 32. Akaninyene clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 32 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 195 minus 182 = 13. Akaninyene is 13 marks short of the score I would call strong, but inside my good-chance band.
  3. O’level check: five credits with Biology as the extra science, all on CAPS.
  4. What I would advise: he is in a good position at 182. Keep Soil Science first and register it under the “Soil Science” entry for UNIUYO.

Ememobong Okpo scored 151 with C6 in Mathematics and C6 in Chemistry. 151 minus 150 = 1, so Ememobong can apply. At 151 she has only just cleared the floor. Even in a quieter course she should prepare hard for screening.

Some Nigerian universities rank candidates with a 50:50 aggregate: UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus the screening score scaled to 50. UNIUYO has not published this or any formula, so this is only an illustration. On that method, Akaninyene’s 182 becomes 22.75, and a 64% screening score adds 32, for an aggregate of 54.75 out of 100.

How to apply for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with UNIUYO first: pick Soil Science and Land Resources Management (listed by JAMB as “Soil Science”) with English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Mathematics or Physics. If UNIUYO ended up as your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before UNIUYO opens its form.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited CBT centre and check that every subject and grade shows correctly on your JAMB profile.
  4. Create an account on the UNIUYO portal: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng, register with your details and verify the account.
  5. Pay ₦2,000 with Remita: generate the RRR on the portal and pay it; keep the receipt.
  6. Complete the form and upload documents: fill every section, upload the requested documents as PDF files, then print the 2026/2027 Screening Exercise Slip.
  7. Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept within the window JAMB gives you.
  8. Pay acceptance and do clearance: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached, so confirm the amount on the portal before you pay anything.

Warning

UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 notice screened only candidates who chose UNIUYO first. If UNIUYO is your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening form opens.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. Supplementary or late lists can still show up on CAPS, so if you applied, keep checking your status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.

In 2023/2024 UNIUYO ran a supplementary admission for candidates who had registered for its screening but missed their first-choice course. The Registrar’s notice took candidates with 140 and above into limited vacancies in nine faculties: Agriculture, Arts, Management Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science, Social Sciences, Education, and Vocational Education, Library and Information Science. Agriculture was one of those faculties, so a candidate who missed a more competitive course could apply for a programme listed there, possibly including Soil Science and Land Resources Management. UNIUYO does not run a supplementary exercise on a fixed schedule, and its 2026/2027 floor is 150, so treat the old 140 as history.

Studying Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO

Soil Science and Land Resources Management is one of eight departments in UNIUYO’s Faculty of Agriculture. Agriculture degrees in Nigeria usually take five years including farm practice; UNIUYO has not confirmed the length in sources I reached.

Accreditation

NUC published a report on UNIUYO’s Agriculture programme after a visit from 20 to 24 November 2024: Full accreditation, 81.4%. The report names the programme as Agriculture and does not list departments, so I can’t confirm whether it covers Soil Science and Land Resources Management by name. I found no separate NUC report for Soil Science and Land Resources Management at UNIUYO; ask the department for its current accreditation letter before you pay acceptance.

What you study

  • Foundation: chemistry, geology basics, botany and general agriculture.

Mistakes that cost Soil Science and Land Resources Management applicants a UNIUYO place

  • Treating 150 as the admission score: it only lets you into screening.
  • Leaving UNIUYO as second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened first-choice candidates.
  • Looking for the full name on JAMB: the entry is “Soil Science”.
  • No Chemistry in the UTME: it is fixed in the subject line.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: admission cannot be processed without it.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at UNIUYO are separate steps.

If you are writing the UTME again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to do a JAMB change of institution.

UNIUYO cut off mark for Soil Science and Land Resources Management: frequently asked questions

Is 155 enough for Soil Science at UNIUYO? 155 clears the 150 minimum, so you can be screened. A merit place is possible but uncertain at that score; I would aim for about 195.

What is Soil Science and Land Resources Management called on JAMB? JAMB lists it for UNIUYO as “Soil Science”.

Do I need Physics for Soil Science at UNIUYO? No. The UTME accepts Mathematics or Physics, and the O’level line accepts any other science as the fifth credit.

Can I get into UNIUYO Soil Science through Basic Studies? Yes, in principle. UNIUYO’s Basic Studies programme feeds all faculties and lets successful students enter 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course criteria.
