The FUTIA cut off mark for Business Management for 2026/2027 is 160 in the UTME. The Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi declared 160 as its minimum at JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting, and it used the same 160 in its October 2026 supplementary admission notice. That is 10 marks above JAMB’s national floor of 150 for universities. FUTIA has not published a separate departmental figure for Business Management.
2027/2028 update: FUTIA cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Check before you choose
Business Management is on JAMB’s list of FUTIA courses, and FUTIA has advertised teaching posts in Business Management. It was not among the programmes open in FUTIA’s October 2026 supplementary round, and I found no FUTIA notice that names it. Before you pay any fee, confirm with FUTIA’s admissions office, or on your JAMB e-Facility profile, that the course is admitting for your session.
So 160 is the score that lets you into FUTIA’s screening, and the course itself is still the bigger question. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subjects for Business Management, how FUTIA’s 2026/2027 admission ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what is and is not known about the programme.

FUTIA Business Management cut-off history

|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 160 | Minimum FUTIA declared at JAMB’s policy meeting | Official (News Central list of declared figures) |
| 2026/2027 supplementary | 160 | Minimum for the October supplementary round, FUTIA first choice | Official FUTIA notice |
| 2026/2027 main Post-UTME | 160 | Eligibility figure in a blog post | Unofficial (abstechconnect, 21 June 2026; no notice cited) |

FUTIA was the only Akwa Ibom university on the News Central list of figures declared at the 2026 policy meeting, and it chose 160 rather than the national 150. Several of its notices since then repeat the same number, so I would treat 160 as settled for 2026/2027 and plan on it for 2027/2028.
Safe target score for Business Management at FUTIA (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not a FUTIA rule. FUTIA is a young federal university of technology, and management courses at such schools draw fewer applicants than engineering or computing. The bigger risk for this course is whether it is admitting at all, not the score.
| Your UTME score | My read for FUTIA Business Management |
|---|---|
| Below 160 | Not eligible for FUTIA, even though it is above JAMB’s 150 |
| 160 to 179 | Eligible; a place depends on the course admitting and on your O’level grades |
| 180 to 199 | Reasonable chance |
| 200 to 219 | Competitive |
| 220 and above | Strong. Aim here if you also want a fallback into a busier course. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 200, with B3 or better in English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
Merit, catchment and FUTIA
FUTIA is a federal university, so it falls under JAMB’s federal admission guidelines, which share places between merit, catchment states and educationally less developed states. The usual federal split is 45% merit, 35% catchment and 20% ELDS. FUTIA has not published its own catchment list or split for any course.
UTME subject combination and O’level for FUTIA Business Management
| Requirement | Business Management at FUTIA |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English plus Mathematics, Economics and one other subject |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, plus any two of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes from Economics, Accounts, Business Management, Government, Geography or Statistics |
| FUTIA-specific remark | None on the brochure page |
| Sittings | Not stated in the FUTIA notices I read; one sitting is safest |
| Awaiting result | Not stated; your result must be on CAPS before FUTIA can offer you admission |
Mathematics and Economics are fixed in the UTME. For the third subject, JAMB’s line says “one other subject”, so Commerce, Accounting (Principles of Accounts) or Government all work. I would pick Commerce or Accounting, because they overlap with first-year business courses and they also keep the door open to Accounting if you change your mind before registration.
The O’level line is stricter than many candidates expect. Beyond English, Mathematics and Economics, your other two credits must come from a short list of business and social science subjects. A science student with credits in Physics and Chemistry but no Commerce, Accounting or Government would not meet it.
How FUTIA admission works for Business Management
FUTIA’s official pages are built in a way that hides their text from many readers, so most of what is known about its 2026/2027 admission comes from reprints of signed notices. Here is what was confirmed.
| Detail | FUTIA 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Minimum | 160, FUTIA as first choice |
| Main Post-UTME | A blog reported 160 and FUTIA first choice; no fee or dates were published in any official source I reached |
| Physical screening | Ran from Monday 12 October 2026 (reported alongside FUTIA’s NUC approval news) |
| Supplementary round | Notice signed by the Registrar, Mrs Offiongita E. Nkang, 29 October 2026; candidates change to a listed course through JAMB and register on portal.futia.edu.ng |
| Courses in the supplementary round | 20 named programmes, including Transport Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management; Business Management was not listed |
| Fee, deadline, test format | Not stated in the supplementary notice |
| Portal | portal.futia.edu.ng |
Worked example for Business Management
FUTIA has not published an aggregate formula. Many Nigerian universities turn the UTME score into a mark out of 50 (UTME divided by 8) and five O’level grades into another 50 (A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5). I use that method only to show how the pieces add up. It is an illustration, not FUTIA’s formula.
Take Ekpenyong, who scored 204 and has B3, B2, B3, C4 and B3 in English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 204 minus 160 = 44. He clears FUTIA’s minimum by 44 marks, and JAMB’s 150 by 54.
- UTME part (illustrative): 204 divided by 8 = 25.5 out of 50.
- O’level part (illustrative): 8 + 9 + 8 + 7 + 8 = 40 out of 50.
- Illustrative total: 25.5 + 40 = 65.5 out of 100.
- What I would advise: his score is strong for a management course. Before registering, he should confirm Business Management is admitting, and if it is not, Accounting or Transport Management are the nearest FUTIA options on JAMB’s list.
Ndiye scored 155 with low credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Accounting. On the same illustration that is 19.38 + 27 = 46.38, but the total does not matter: 155 is below FUTIA’s 160, so she cannot be screened for any FUTIA course. A state university with a 150 minimum, such as AKSU, is the realistic choice for her this year.
How to apply for Business Management at FUTIA, step by step
- Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Confirm the course is open: check FUTIA’s course list on your JAMB e-Facility profile and ask FUTIA’s admissions office whether Business Management will take 2027 candidates.
- Register the UTME: choose Business Management with Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce or Accounting, and make FUTIA your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your result is out.
- Register on the FUTIA portal: when the Post-UTME notice appears, register on portal.futia.edu.ng and pay only the fee the portal invoice shows. FUTIA’s 2026 notices did not state a fee.
- Attend screening: in 2026, physical screening began on 12 October. Take your UTME result slip, O’level results and any document the notice lists.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB allows four weeks to accept an offer.
- Pay acceptance and clear: FUTIA’s acceptance fee was not in any source I reached. Pay only against a FUTIA portal invoice.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. If you applied to FUTIA this session, check CAPS for an offer or a transfer to another course. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
Studying Business Management at FUTIA
FUTIA is a federal university of technology at Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Leo Daniel. It groups its departments into Schools, and one of them is the School of Management Technology. Business Management most likely sits there, but FUTIA has not published a department list I could read, so treat that placement as my inference. The degree would be a B.Sc., which normally takes four years.
Is the course real and running?
Three things point to a genuine programme: it is on JAMB’s list of FUTIA courses, it appears on independent lists of FUTIA courses, and FUTIA advertised academic posts in Business Management from Graduate Assistant to Professor, as reported by job boards. What I could not find is any FUTIA admission notice naming the course or any record of students admitted into it. Ask FUTIA before you commit a UTME choice to it.
NUC accreditation
The NUC accreditation results for 1990 to 2025 have no section for FUTIA at all. The list covers Federal Universities of Technology at Akure, Babura, Minna and Owerri, but not Ikot Abasi. That is expected for a new university: accreditation visits normally come when a programme’s first students reach their later years. FUTIA describes its programmes as following the NUC’s CCMAS curriculum, and the NUC approved 12 new FUTIA programmes in a letter dated 11 September 2026 (Business Management was not one of the 12). The status of Business Management is not confirmed.
What you study
- Foundations: principles of management, microeconomics and macroeconomics, business mathematics and statistics, and introductory accounting.
- Core management: organisational behaviour, human resource management, marketing, production and operations management.
- Finance and law: business finance, management accounting and business law.
- Strategy and enterprise: entrepreneurship, small business management, strategic management and research methods.
- Final year: a project and, at most Nigerian universities, a period of industrial training (SIWES).
Careers
Business Management graduates go into management trainee schemes at banks and manufacturing firms, human resources, sales and marketing, operations and logistics, and the civil service. Many start or run small businesses. Professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management or the Nigerian Institute of Management offer membership routes after graduation, and an MBA is a common next step.

Transport Management and Tourism and Hospitality Management were both open in FUTIA’s 2026/2027 supplementary round, so they are the closest management options with a confirmed intake.
Mistakes that cost Business Management applicants a FUTIA place
- Planning on 150: FUTIA’s minimum is 160, so 150 to 159 rules you out even though JAMB allows it elsewhere.
- Choosing a course without checking it is admitting: Business Management was missing from the 2026 supplementary list.
- No Economics or Mathematics in the UTME: both are fixed in JAMB’s line.
- Science credits as your extra O’levels: the line asks for two of Accounting, Business Methods, Commerce, Government, Geography and Statistics.
- FUTIA not first choice: the supplementary notice asked for FUTIA as first choice in the 2026 UTME.
- Accepting on CAPS and doing nothing else: the acceptance fee and clearance at FUTIA are separate steps.
If you are preparing for the 2027 UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to do a JAMB change of course.
FUTIA cut off mark for Business Management: frequently asked questions
Can I get Business Management at FUTIA with 150? No. FUTIA’s minimum is 160 for 2026/2027, higher than JAMB’s national 150, so a score of 150 to 159 does not qualify you for any FUTIA course.
Does FUTIA offer Business Management? It is on JAMB’s list of FUTIA courses and FUTIA has recruited Business Management lecturers, but I found no FUTIA admission notice naming it, and it was not in the October 2026 supplementary list. Confirm with FUTIA before choosing it.
What subjects do I need for Business Management in FUTIA? Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and one other subject in the UTME, plus five O’level credits including English Language, Mathematics and Economics.
Is FUTIA a federal or state university? FUTIA is a federal university, located in Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom State. Its admission deadline follows JAMB’s date for public universities.
Sources and updates
FUTIA’s 160 comes from the News Central list of declared cut-off marks (11 May 2026), where it was the only Akwa Ibom entry, and from FUTIA’s supplementary admission notice signed by the Registrar, Mrs Offiongita E. Nkang (29 October 2026; also reported by Myschool on 28 October 2026), which lists the 20 programmes open and the portal. The blog figure is from abstechconnect (21 June 2026). The 12 October 2026 screening date, the Vice-Chancellor’s name and the 11 September 2026 NUC letter come from reports of FUTIA’s NUC approval news (October 2026). The subject lines are from the JAMB brochure entry for Business Management on Myschool, and the course appears on Myschool’s copy of JAMB’s FUTIA course list. The recruitment of Business Management lecturers is from job-board listings (MyJobMag and Hot Nigerian Jobs). The NUC position is from the NUC accreditation results for 1990 to 2025 (published September 2026). The national minimum, the federal deadline of 31 October 2026 and the four-week acceptance window are from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The 45/35/20 split is JAMB’s general federal guideline, not a FUTIA figure. Safe targets and the worked example are my own illustrations. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated if FUTIA confirms a Business Management intake or publishes a departmental cut-off.
