The UNIUYO cut off mark for Physiology is 150 in the UTME, and that is the figure 2027 candidates should plan with. The University of Uyo set 150 as the minimum for its 2026/2027 Post-UTME and Direct Entry screening, and only for candidates who chose UNIUYO as their first choice. Physiology sits in the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences in UNIUYO’s College of Health Sciences, and UNIUYO did not publish a separate figure for it. One warning first: Physiology is missing from UNIUYO’s 2026/2027 advert list, so confirm it is admitting before you choose it.
2027/2028 update: UNIUYO cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
UNIUYO does not publish a departmental cut-off for Physiology or for any other course. The 150 is a gate into screening, and the department then fills its places on merit, so the score of the last person admitted sits above 150 and changes every year. My safe target score for Physiology at UNIUYO is 250 or more; that is my own advice, explained below, and it is not a UNIUYO figure.
UNIUYO cut off mark for Physiology at a glance
| Item | Position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| UNIUYO minimum UTME score (all courses) | 150, with UNIUYO as first choice | Official (2026/2027 screening notice) |
| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| UNIUYO departmental cut-off for Physiology | Not published | No official figure exists |
| Safe target score (my advice) | 250 and above | Consultant advice, not a UNIUYO rule |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 by Remita | Amount from reprints; Remita payment is official |
| UTME subjects | English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| Faculty | College of Health Sciences, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences | UNIUYO 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert |
| Course name on JAMB | Physiology | UNIUYO course list on Myschool |
UNIUYO Physiology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score to apply for Post-UTME or DE screening, UNIUYO first choice | Official UNIUYO notice |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | Same rule, first choice only | Reported by an abstechconnect reprint (15 August 2025); original not seen |
| 2023/2024 supplementary | 140 and above | Supplementary admission for candidates who sat UNIUYO screening and missed their first course | Official notice signed by the Registrar |
| Any year | Various | Departmental “cut-off marks” printed on blogs | Unofficial; no UNIUYO document behind them |
The 150 floor and first-choice rule applied in both recent sessions. Physiology normally fills well above 150 because it attracts Medicine-minded candidates.
Safe target score for Physiology at UNIUYO (my advice)
This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. UNIUYO has never published these bands, so treat them as planning numbers.
| Your UTME score | My read for Physiology at UNIUYO |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for UNIUYO screening in any course |
| 150 to 209 | Eligible to apply, but a Physiology place is unlikely; you may be offered a related course instead |
| 210 to 229 | A fair chance, helped by good O’level grades |
| 230 to 249 | Good chance |
| 250 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
Physiology shares applicants with Medicine and Anatomy, which pushes its merit line far above the floor. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 230, ideally 250, and pair it with clean O’level credits in the subjects listed below.
Merit, catchment and the federal quota
UNIUYO is a federal university, so it admits under the federal guidelines that JAMB applies: 45% of places on merit, 35% for catchment states and 20% for educationally less developed states. UNIUYO has not published which states it treats as its catchment in any source I reached. In practice, a candidate who misses the merit list can still be picked on catchment or ELDS, which is one reason two people with the same score can get different results.
UTME subject combination and O’level requirements for Physiology at UNIUYO
| Requirement | Physiology at UNIUYO |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| O’level | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (GCE also accepted by most universities); confirm on the portal |
| Sittings | JAMB’s brochure gives no UNIUYO sitting rule for this course; one sitting is safer, and many health faculties prefer it |
| Direct Entry | Two A level passes from Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Zoology. No UNIUYO-specific DE remark |
| Other requirement | No course test or interview is mentioned in the 2026/2027 notice; the College may still hold clearance checks |
JAMB’s Physiology page has remarks for BABCOCK, OOU, UNILORIN, UNILAG, ABU, UNIPORT, UI and others, and none for UNIUYO. The general line is Physics, Chemistry and Biology, so do not replace Physics with Mathematics.
Before you choose Physiology, note the gap in UNIUYO’s own documents. UNIUYO’s Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences web page lists B.Sc. Physiology, and JAMB’s list for UNIUYO carries it, but the 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert, which lists every degree by faculty, leaves Physiology out. That may be an omission, but I can’t confirm Physiology is admitting new students for 2027/2028. Ask the department or the admissions office in writing before you register it as your course.
Basic Studies: another way into Physiology
UNIUYO also runs a one-year Basic Studies programme that feeds all its faculties. The 2026/2027 advert, signed by the Registrar, Mrs Blossom E. Okorie, asks for five credits including English and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects at not more than two sittings, says no JAMB score is required, and lets successful students move into 200 level through JAMB Direct Entry if they meet the course criteria. The form cost ₦15,500, and admission is usually through a CBT screening test. Health courses take few students through this route, so ask the College of Health Sciences how many Basic Studies students it moves into 200 level before you rely on it.
How UNIUYO Post-UTME screening works
The 2026/2027 notice was titled “Sale of Admissions form for 2026/2027 Post-UTME/Direct Entry Screening Exercise”. It opened screening to UTME candidates with 150 or more who picked UNIUYO first, and to Direct Entry candidates who picked UNIUYO first in JAMB DE.
| Detail | UNIUYO 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | UNIUYO first choice, UTME 150 or above; DE candidates with UNIUYO first |
| Second choice candidates | Not mentioned in the notice; do a change of institution to be safe |
| Fee | ₦2,000, non-refundable, paid with a Remita RRR |
| Portal | admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng |
| Documents | Uploaded as PDF on the form |
| Output | Printed 2026/2027 Screening Exercise Slip |
| Closing date | Friday 7 August 2026 according to a blog reprint; the official page showed no date |
| Test format | Not published for regular Post-UTME |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |
UNIUYO’s notice calls the process a “screening exercise” and says nothing about a written or CBT test for regular candidates, so I can’t tell you there is a test or that there isn’t. Prepare as if there will be one, using the JAMB syllabus for your four subjects.
Worked example for a Physiology candidate
UNIUYO has not published how it ranks candidates, so the useful calculation is the gap between your score, the 150 minimum and the safe target.
Take Emaediong Akpan, who scored 236 with B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B3 in Physics, B2 in Chemistry and B2 in Biology from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 236 minus 150 = 86. Emaediong clears UNIUYO’s minimum by 86 marks.
- Against my safe target: 250 minus 236 = 14. Emaediong is 14 marks short of the score I would call strong, but inside my good-chance band.
- O’level check: all five required credits from one sitting, uploaded to CAPS.
- What I would advise: at 236 he is competitive, but first he should get written confirmation that Physiology is admitting in 2027/2028, since the 2026/2027 advert left it out.
Samuel Udoh scored 190 with C6 in Physics and C5 in Mathematics. 190 minus 150 = 40, so Samuel can apply. At 190 a Physiology place is unlikely, and the course’s status adds risk. A related science course would be a safer first choice.
Some Nigerian universities rank candidates with a 50:50 aggregate: UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus the screening score scaled to 50. UNIUYO has not published this or any formula, so this is only an illustration. On that method, Emaediong’s 236 becomes 29.50, and a 64% screening score adds 32, for an aggregate of 61.50 out of 100.
How to apply for Physiology at UNIUYO, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with UNIUYO first: pick Physiology (listed by JAMB as “Physiology”) with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. If UNIUYO ended up as your second choice, do a JAMB change of institution before UNIUYO opens its form.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited CBT centre and check that every subject and grade shows correctly on your JAMB profile.
- Create an account on the UNIUYO portal: go to admissions.uniuyo.edu.ng, register with your details and verify the account.
- Pay ₦2,000 with Remita: generate the RRR on the portal and pay it; keep the receipt.
- Complete the form and upload documents: fill every section, upload the requested documents as PDF files, then print the 2026/2027 Screening Exercise Slip.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept within the window JAMB gives you.
- Pay acceptance and do clearance: UNIUYO has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached, so confirm the amount on the portal before you pay anything.
Warning
Every genuine UNIUYO offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Ignore anyone selling “slots” for Physiology or promising to raise your screening result for a fee, and pay only through the Remita RRR generated on the UNIUYO portal.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. Supplementary or late lists can still show up on CAPS, so if you applied, keep checking your status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.
In 2023/2024 UNIUYO ran a supplementary admission for candidates who had registered for its screening but missed their first-choice course, with a floor of 140. It offered limited vacancies in nine faculties (Agriculture, Arts, Management Sciences, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Science, Social Sciences, Education, and Vocational Education, Library and Information Science). The College of Health Sciences and the Faculty of Pharmacy were not on the list, so that exercise gave no second route into Physiology. Plan to win the place in the main exercise, and keep a related course in mind in case UNIUYO offers you one on CAPS.
Studying Physiology at UNIUYO
UNIUYO’s Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences page says the faculty is under the College of Health Sciences and awards B.Sc. degrees in Anatomy, Biochemistry and Physiology. Basic medical science degrees in Nigeria usually run for four years; UNIUYO has not confirmed the length in sources I reached.
Accreditation
I could not find an NUC accreditation report that names Physiology at UNIUYO, and the course is missing from the 2026/2027 advert, so its status is not confirmed. Get the department’s position in writing before you pay any fee.
What you study
- Systems physiology: cardiovascular, respiratory, renal, gastrointestinal and endocrine physiology.
- Nerve and muscle: neurophysiology and muscle physiology.
- Applied areas: exercise, reproductive and environmental physiology.
- Laboratory and project: experimental physiology practicals and a final-year research project.
Careers after Physiology
- Research and laboratory roles in physiology and pharmacology
- Teaching physiology after postgraduate study
- Sports and exercise science roles

Mistakes that cost Physiology applicants a UNIUYO place
- Treating 150 as the admission score: it only lets you into screening.
- Leaving UNIUYO as second choice: the 2026/2027 notice screened first-choice candidates.
- Registering Physiology without confirming it is admitting: it is missing from the 2026/2027 advert.
- Mathematics instead of Physics in the UTME: JAMB’s line is Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- O’level missing on CAPS: admission cannot be processed without it.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at UNIUYO are separate steps.
If you are writing the UTME again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and how to do a JAMB change of institution.
UNIUYO cut off mark for Physiology: frequently asked questions
Does UNIUYO still offer Physiology? UNIUYO’s Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences page lists B.Sc. Physiology and JAMB’s list carries it, but the 2026/2027 Basic Studies advert leaves it out. Confirm with the department before you choose it.
Is 230 enough for Physiology at UNIUYO? 230 clears the 150 minimum and is in my good-chance band. I would aim for 250.
What are the JAMB subjects for Physiology at UNIUYO? Use of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. JAMB’s page has no UNIUYO remark changing that.
What can I study instead of Physiology at UNIUYO? Human Anatomy and Medical Biochemistry are in the same faculty with the same UTME subjects.
