The Temple Gate Poly Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology cut off mark you can count on is 100 in the UTME, JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics for 2026/2027. Temple Gate Polytechnic, Aba has not published its own mark for the ND in any year I could trace. JAMB lists it for the school as Electrical / Electronics Engineering Technology. Your UTME subjects are fixed: Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
2027/2028 update: Temple Gate Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Temple Gate Polytechnic is a private polytechnic at Abayi, Osisioma, on the Aba side of Abia State. NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes lists it as a private institution at P.O. Box 3448, Aba, with 2009 as the year the government approved it. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list shows it as Temple-gate Polytechnic with 15 course entries. Check the spelling carefully when you pick it as your institution on the JAMB portal.

The course appears on JAMB’s list for the school and an o3schools fee list from January 2026, though it is missing from the older schoolings.org list of Temple Gate courses. None of these is an admission notice from the school, so confirm that the department is admitting before you buy a form.
JAMB lists the course as Electrical / Electronics Engineering Technology. Blogs shorten it to EEE or Electrical/Electronic Engineering. It is the same National Diploma.
Electrical/Electronic Engineering cut-off history at Temple Gate Poly
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|

JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 in both 2025 and 2026. Engineering courses at small private polytechnics are rarely crowded, and Temple Gate has never announced a mark above JAMB’s.
Safe target score for Electrical/Electronic Engineering at Temple Gate (my advice)
These bands are my own judgement. Temple Gate publishes no merit lists or applicant numbers.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Temple Gate |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for ND admission through JAMB this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible; likely if the course is admitting and your science credits are complete |
| 120 to 139 | Good chance |
| 140 and above | Strong. This is where I would aim. |
For 2027 I would aim for 130 or more. A strong Mathematics and Physics score also tells you whether you will cope with the course, which is heavy on calculation from the first semester.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Temple Gate
| Requirement | ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| Temple Gate remark on the brochure | None, so the base rule applies |
| O’level | Five credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus any two from Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography, and Economics or Commerce |
| English Language | On the optional list in the base rule; several polytechnics make it compulsory through remarks, and Temple Gate’s general rule (unofficial) asks for English |
| Sittings | Not more than two (schoolings.org page on Temple Gate, unofficial) |
| Direct Entry | Not applicable for ND; the brochure’s Direct Entry section is blank |
English Language sits on the optional list in the base rule for this course, and only some polytechnics, such as Imo Poly, Saro-Wiwa Poly and Ibadan Poly, make it compulsory through remarks. Do not read that as permission to skip it. The only published description of Temple Gate’s own rules says every applicant needs credits in English Language and Mathematics, and most HND programmes and employers expect English too. Treat English as compulsory.
The UTME remarks on this page cover IMT Enugu (which accepts Biology), Auchi Poly, SURE-POLY and Bauchi. The O’level remarks cover about twenty other schools, including Imo Poly, Saro-Wiwa Poly, Ogun Poly, Offa, YABATECH, Ibadan Poly, Kaduna Poly, Nekede and Fidei. None of them names Temple Gate, so the base rule applies and Biology is not an accepted UTME subject for you.
Revise from the JAMB syllabus for each subject. Our JAMB Chemistry syllabus guide is a useful start, and Mathematics and Physics need the same steady practice with past questions.
HND after the ND
ND entry is through the UTME; JAMB’s Direct Entry route is for degree programmes. NBTE’s standard path after the ND is a year of industrial attachment, then an HND, usually with at least a Lower Credit. The o3schools post gives an HND fee for this school’s science and engineering departments, but Temple Gate has not confirmed which courses have an HND stream.
How Temple Gate Poly screening works
Temple Gate has not published a 2026/2027 screening notice that I could find, and its website is down. A schoolings.org page on the school, last updated in 2020, gives the only published conditions:
- At least 16 years old in the year of admission.
- Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.
- A UTME score that meets JAMB’s current minimum.
- Internal screening by the polytechnic for those who qualify.
The page does not give dates, fees or the screening format. Ask the admissions office whether there is a written test. If there is, expect SSCE-level Mathematics, Physics and English.
Worked example (illustrative)
Take Tobenna, who scored 126 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. His WAEC result has credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Basic Electricity from one sitting.
- JAMB minimum: 126 minus 100 is 26, so he clears the polytechnic floor.
- My safe target: 130 minus 126 is 4. He is eligible and close to my target.
- UTME subjects: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, exactly the brochure combination.
- O’level: the three core sciences are there, plus English and Basic Electricity from the optional list.
As an illustration of how an aggregate could work: 126 divided by 8 is 15.75 out of 50. With 34 out of 50 at screening, he would have 49.75 out of 100. Temple Gate has published no formula, and it may simply admit every eligible applicant who completes the process.
What Temple Gate Poly is reported to charge
Temple Gate has not published a fee schedule I could reach. The only figures online come from an o3schools blog post dated 26 January 2026, which credits a school tuition page I could not open. Treat them as a rough guide and get the current amounts from the bursary in writing.
| Item | Amount claimed by the blog (unofficial) |
|---|---|
| Admission form (ND) | ₦5,000 |
| Acceptance fee (ND) | ₦15,000 |
| ND tuition, School of Industrial and Applied Science Technology | ₦55,000 |
These amounts look low for a private polytechnic in 2026, and the post does not say which session they belong to, so they may be old. The same post says fees paid are not refundable, which is one more reason to confirm the course is admitting before you pay anything. Engineering students should also budget for workshop tools, a scientific calculator and drawing instruments.
How to apply for Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology at Temple Gate Poly, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Electrical / Electronics Engineering Technology with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and select Temple Gate Polytechnic as your polytechnic. If you already picked another school, use JAMB change of institution before the polytechnic starts screening.
- Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot match you to the course without it.
- Buy the Temple Gate form through the school: visit or call the admissions office in Aba, ask for the form price, closing date and screening date, and keep every receipt.
- Attend screening with your documents: UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or declaration of age, local government identification and passport photographs.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means.
- Pay acceptance and register: get the acceptance fee and school fees from the bursary in writing, pay through the channel the school names, then complete medical and departmental registration.
Warning
Temple Gate Polytechnic has no official website I could open: Wikipedia’s link to its tgp.edu.ng about page is marked as dead, and the other domain blogs cite could not be confirmed. A page, WhatsApp group or agent selling forms or reserved places may have nothing to do with the school. JAMB says admissions outside CAPS are illegal, so every genuine offer appears on your CAPS page.
Your chances of admission into Electrical/Electronic Engineering at Temple Gate
- The most common reason science applicants fail is a missing credit in Physics or Chemistry, or a result that is not on CAPS.
- With 120 or more and complete science credits, I would rate your chances as good, provided the department confirms an intake.
- Computer Engineering at Temple Gate uses the same UTME subjects (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry), so it is the easiest switch if this course is not admitting.
- JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should check CAPS until then.
What you study in ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology
Temple Gate has not published its curriculum, so this is the general content of the ND as most Nigerian polytechnics teach it.
- Electrical circuit theory, electrical and electronic measurements.
- Electrical machines: transformers, motors and generators.
- Power systems: generation, transmission, distribution and protection.
- Analogue and digital electronics, and an introduction to telecommunications.
- Electrical installation, wiring regulations and safety.
- Workshop practice, technical drawing and engineering mathematics.
- SIWES placement with a power distribution company, an electrical contractor, a manufacturer or a telecoms firm.
Duration and accreditation
NBTE’s standard ND takes two years full-time with SIWES built in. Temple Gate has not confirmed its own timetable. NBTE’s 2020 directory lists the school as a private polytechnic approved in 2009, but I could not read the programme-level tables, so this course’s accreditation status at Temple Gate is not confirmed. The course is missing from the schoolings.org list of Temple Gate’s courses, which adds to the reasons to ask. Ask the department for its NBTE accreditation letter before paying tuition. Graduates who later want professional registration as engineering technicians or technologists go through COREN, which looks at where and what you studied.
Careers
- Electrical installation and maintenance technician for buildings, factories and estates
- Technical staff with power distribution companies and electrical contractors
- Solar, inverter and backup power installation

Mistakes Electrical/Electronic Engineering applicants make
- Registering Biology or Further Mathematics in the UTME: the base rule is Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with no Temple Gate exception.
- Relying on a pass in English: some schools accept it by remark, but Temple Gate is not one of them; get a credit.
- Paying an agent: buy forms only from the school and accept only on CAPS.
- Uploading O’level late: CAPS cannot place you until the result is there.
- Treating CAPS acceptance as the last step: you still pay the acceptance fee and register at the school.
