The MOUAU cut off mark for Educational Management is 150 in the UTME, with Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) as your first choice. MOUAU set that single minimum for all courses in its 2026/2027 screening notice and did not publish a separate figure for Educational Management.
2027/2028 update: MOUAU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Scoring 150 qualifies you to register for screening; your ranking decides admission. This page sets out the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subject combination, the O’level requirement, how MOUAU screens candidates, a worked example and the CAPS steps.

MOUAU Educational Management cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Minimum UTME score for all MOUAU courses, MOUAU first choice | MOUAU notice (Myschool reprint, 20 June 2026) |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official, JAMB policy meeting |
| 2025/2026 | Not confirmed | Blogs say 150; the earlier Myschool page now redirects to the 2026 article | Unverified |
| Departmental figure for Educational Management | None | Blog “departmental cut-off” lists cite no MOUAU document | Unofficial |
MOUAU’s main department list calls the course Education Management, and the College of Education’s own site groups educational administration and planning under its Educational Foundations programmes. MOUAU published no departmental cut-off under any of these names, so the 150 minimum is the only official figure.
Safe target score for Educational Management at MOUAU (my advice)
MOUAU does not publish the score of the last candidate admitted into each course, so the table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, and MOUAU set no such bands. It assumes your O’level subjects are complete.
| Your UTME score | My read for MOUAU Educational Management |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any MOUAU course |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible to register for screening, but admission is uncertain |
| 170 to 189 | Reasonable chance with good O’level grades from one sitting |
| 190 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 170, ideally 190, with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus two social science or arts subjects, ideally from one sitting.
Catchment and merit
MOUAU is a federal university, so its admissions follow the federal guidelines that mix merit, catchment and educationally less developed states. MOUAU has not published its own split or a list of catchment states for 2026/2027, so do not count on catchment to rescue a low score. A strong UTME result and clean O’level grades from one sitting are the parts you control.
UTME subject combination and O’level for MOUAU Educational Management
| Requirement | Educational Management at MOUAU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (JAMB general entry) | Use of English, Economics, Mathematics and one other social science or arts subject |
| MOUAU UTME remark | None shown on Myschool’s reprint of the entry |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics; university remarks on the entry commonly add Economics |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO, NABTEB |
| Sittings | MOUAU weights the number of sittings in screening |
| Awaiting results | Register for MOUAU screening only after your result is out |
| Name on MOUAU’s list | Education Management (College of Education) |
Some guides say any three subjects will do for Educational Management. JAMB’s general entry is more specific: Economics and Mathematics are fixed, and the third subject is any social science or arts subject, such as Government, Geography, History or Literature in English. If you are an arts student without Mathematics, fix that before you register, because the entry gives no alternative to it.
For O’level, JAMB refers this course to the same general rule as Educational Psychology and Guidance and Counselling, and the remarks for individual universities commonly ask for five credits including English, Mathematics and Economics. I would treat Economics as required. Myschool’s reprint shows no remark for MOUAU, so confirm the line on your own JAMB e-brochure. Watch the name too: on JAMB you may see Educational Management, Education Management and Planning or Educational Management and Policy as separate entries, so pick the one listed under MOUAU.
Direct Entry
JAMB’s entry refers Direct Entry for this course to the general rule for Educational Psychology and Guidance and Counselling, and the university remarks it lists commonly accept two A-level passes or an NCE with merit. MOUAU’s 2026/2027 notice gave no separate Direct Entry rules and no MOUAU remark appears on the reprint, so ask the College of Education before buying a Direct Entry form.
MOUAU’s College of Education is not a college of education
You may have read that from 2026/2027 JAMB stopped 100 level and 200 level degree admissions into colleges of education, and that NCE candidates no longer sit the UTME. That rule is about standalone colleges of education and the degrees they run with partner universities. MOUAU’s College of Education (COED) is one of the eleven colleges inside a federal university, and its courses were covered by the same 150 UTME notice as every other MOUAU course. You still need the UTME for Educational Management at MOUAU.
How MOUAU screening works for Educational Management
MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice, signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, was reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026. I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng, so treat these details as a faithful reprint of the notice.
| Detail | MOUAU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who scored 150 or more in the 2026 UTME with MOUAU as first choice; others could first change to MOUAU on the JAMB portal |
| Registration opened | 6 June 2026, online through mouau.edu.ng |
| Portal | portal.mouau.edu.ng (payment problems: portal@mouau.edu.ng) |
| Fee | ₦2,000 through Remita, by card or cash at a bank |
| O’level | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB results uploaded so they reach JAMB CAPS |
| Awaiting results | Candidates still waiting for 2026 results were told not to register until the results were out |
| How candidates are ranked | UTME score, with O’level grades and the number of sittings both weighted |
| Closing date and test date | Not stated in the reprint |
Nothing in the notice says MOUAU set a written Post-UTME test for 2026/2027, so I won’t tell you one was held. After you register, check the portal regularly: MOUAU told candidates to watch it for screening results and admission status.
Worked example for an Educational Management candidate
MOUAU has not published an aggregate formula. To show how the pieces interact, here is an illustrative method that many Nigerian universities use: UTME score divided by 8 (up to 50 points), plus O’level points for five relevant subjects with A1 = 10, B2 = 9, B3 = 8, C4 = 7, C5 = 6, C6 = 5 (up to 50 points). The method is my illustration; MOUAU has not published it.
- Chinedu scored 184 with B2 in English, B3 in Mathematics, B3 in Economics, B2 in Government, A1 in Literature in English from one sitting. UTME points: 184 ÷ 8 = 23.00. O’level points: 9 + 8 + 8 + 9 + 10 = 44. Illustrative total: 67.00.
- Amarachi scored 176 with C4 in English, C6 in Mathematics, C5 in Economics, C4 in Government, B3 in Christian Religious Studies over two sittings. UTME points: 176 ÷ 8 = 22.00. O’level points: 7 + 5 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 33. Illustrative total: 55.00.
- The gap: 67.00 minus 55.00 = 12.00 points. The UTME scores are only 8 marks apart, but the O’level grades and the extra sitting push Amarachi more than ten points behind.
When UTME scores are this close, any method that weights O’level grades and sittings will rank candidates mainly on their O’level.
How to apply for Educational Management at MOUAU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Educational Management at MOUAU with Use of English, Economics, Mathematics and Government (or another social science or arts subject), and make MOUAU your first choice. If you already registered for another school, do a JAMB change of institution before MOUAU’s screening opens; if you picked the wrong course, see our JAMB change of course guide.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB CBT centre as soon as your result is out. MOUAU counts your grades and sittings, so upload your best single sitting.
- Register on the MOUAU portal: when screening opens, go to portal.mouau.edu.ng, fill in your details and generate the Remita invoice.
- Pay ₦2,000: by card or cash at any bank through Remita. Keep the RRR number and the receipt.
- Check the portal for results: MOUAU posts screening outcomes and admission status there. No test date was published for 2026/2027.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. JAMB gives four weeks to accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear: MOUAU’s acceptance and school fees were not in any source I reached. Get the amount from your portal invoice and pay only through it.
Warning
Every genuine MOUAU offer appears on JAMB CAPS, and JAMB said in May 2026 that admissions outside CAPS are illegal. Anyone selling a MOUAU “slot” or a “special list” place is selling something that does not exist. Pay MOUAU only through the invoice the portal generates for you.
For 2026/2027, JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the date public universities should finish admissions. If you applied this year, look at CAPS instead of waiting for a printed list.
Studying Educational Management at MOUAU
MOUAU’s official department list shows Education Management as a department in the College of Education (COED). The COED website describes educational administration and planning as one of its Educational Foundations programmes; both names refer to training in how schools and education systems are run. MOUAU is a federal university of agriculture at Umudike, about 10 km from Umuahia in Abia State, established by federal decree in November 1992.
What you study
- Administration: school administration, personnel management in education, school-community relations and supervision of instruction.
- Planning and economics: educational planning, economics of education, school finance and data in education.
- Policy and law: education policy in Nigeria, school law and comparative education.
- Foundations: philosophy and sociology of education, educational psychology, research methods and statistics.
- Teaching practice: Nigerian education degrees include supervised teaching practice; MOUAU’s handbook gives the arrangement for this course.
Degree title, duration and accreditation
The exact degree title MOUAU awards for this course (B.Sc (Ed) or B.Ed) was not confirmed in any official source I reached. Education degrees in Nigeria usually run for four years from 100 level, but MOUAU has not confirmed this for the course in what I found. No NUC accreditation status for the programme was published in the sources I checked, so I am not claiming one. If you plan to teach, you will register with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Careers
- Teacher, and later vice principal or principal, in secondary schools.
- Education officer roles in state ministries of education, SUBEB and local government education authorities.
- Administration in universities, polytechnics and colleges (registry, admissions, academic planning).
- Management roles in private schools and education NGOs.
- Postgraduate study in educational administration and planning.

Mistakes that cost Educational Management applicants a MOUAU place
- Registering “any three subjects”: JAMB’s general entry fixes Economics and Mathematics.
- Picking the wrong course name on JAMB: choose the entry listed under MOUAU on your e-brochure.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it only gets you into screening.
- MOUAU not first choice: the notice requires it.
- Registering while awaiting results: MOUAU told awaiting candidates to wait.
- Ignoring CAPS: your offer appears there first, and the four-week acceptance window is short.
MOUAU cut off mark for Educational Management: frequently asked questions
Is 160 enough for Educational Management in MOUAU? 160 clears MOUAU’s 150 minimum, so you can register for screening. It is below the 170 I would call a reasonable chance, so strong O’level grades from one sitting become important.
Is Mathematics compulsory for Educational Management in JAMB? Yes in JAMB’s general entry, which fixes Economics and Mathematics plus one other social science or arts subject. Check the MOUAU line on your e-brochure to be sure.
Is Educational Management the same as Education Management at MOUAU? MOUAU’s official department list uses the name Education Management, and blogs use both names for the same course. Choose whichever name JAMB lists under MOUAU on your e-brochure.
Can an arts student study Educational Management at MOUAU? Yes, provided you have Economics and Mathematics. The third UTME subject can be an arts subject such as Literature in English or History.
Sources and updates
The 150 minimum, the MOUAU first-choice rule, the 6 June 2026 opening, the ₦2,000 Remita fee, the portal address, the awaiting-result rule and the weighting of O’level grades and sittings come from MOUAU’s 2026/2027 screening notice signed by the Registrar, Dr (Mrs) Nkeiruka Charity Mbanasor, as reprinted by Myschool on 20 June 2026; I could not open the original on mouau.edu.ng. The national minimum of 150, the 31 October 2026 admission deadline, the four-week acceptance window and the warning that admissions outside CAPS are illegal come from the News Agency of Nigeria’s report of the JAMB 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The JAMB rule on colleges of education comes from JAMB’s June 2026 NCE registration guide. The college and department names come from MOUAU’s official Academic Department by Faculty page (last modified 19 June 2026) and the About page of MOUAU’s College of Education website. The UTME subjects and the cross-reference for O’level and Direct Entry come from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure entry for Educational Management, which shows no MOUAU remark. The safe target table and the worked example are my own advice and illustration, and the course content and career lists describe how the subject is usually taught in Nigeria, not a MOUAU handbook. MOUAU’s fees, the degree title and the accreditation status were not published in any source I reached. Checked on 29 October 2026; this page will be updated if MOUAU publishes a departmental cut-off or new requirements.
