The ADSU cut off mark for Cyber Security is 160 in the UTME, and that is the figure to plan with for 2027/2028. Adamawa State University, Mubi published it in its official list of approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session, signed for the Registrar by Admission Officer Dunfe S. Anjili. That is 10 marks above JAMB’s national minimum of 150. Only four ADSU courses sit at 160: Animal Production, Cyber Security, Business Administration and Mass Communication. It is new for 2026/2027: Cyber Security was not on ADSU’s 2025/2026 list.
2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Cyber Security entered ADSU’s list straight at 160, between Information System (150) and Computer Science (170). It was missing from JAMB’s ADSU course list when I checked. Below are the official figures, what is and is not confirmed, a safe target score (my advice), the usual subjects, how the 2026 screening ran, a worked example and the CAPS steps.
Confirm before you register
Cyber Security is on ADSU’s 2026/2027 cut-off list, but it was not on JAMB’s brochure list of ADSU courses (as reprinted by Myschool) when I checked on 3 November 2026. Before you register for the 2027 UTME, look for ADSU and Cyber Security on JAMB’s e-brochure or ask at a JAMB office, and make sure the course can be selected on CAPS. If it cannot, register a listed course and ask ADSU about moving later.

Cyber Security first appears on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list, in the newly named Faculty of Science and Computing. ADSU set it at 160 from the start, a sign it expected more demand than for most new courses.
Is 160 enough for Cyber Security at ADSU?
ADSU calls these figures cut-off marks, and in practice they work as the lowest score it will consider for the course. ADSU has not published the score of the last candidate admitted into Cyber Security, so nobody outside the admissions office knows how far above 160 the intake went.
ADSU set Cyber Security above its 150 courses from the first year, which suggests it expects strong demand. If the course is open on CAPS, plan for competition close to Computer Science.
Safe target score for Cyber Security at ADSU (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an ADSU rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Cyber Security at ADSU |
|---|---|
| Below 160 | Not eligible for Cyber Security (150 to 159 still qualifies for ADSU’s 150 courses) |
| 160 to 174 | Eligible, but a place is far from certain |
| 175 to 194 | Possible with strong O’level grades |
| 195 to 214 | Competitive. This is the range I would aim for |
| 215 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 195. Strong Mathematics and Physics credits will matter if ADSU has to choose between candidates.
Catchment and indigene rules
The only catchment rule on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list is for Law, where Adamawa indigenes needed 230 and non-indigenes 260. Cyber Security has one figure, 160, for every candidate. ADSU has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for any other course, so do not plan around the federal 45/35/20 formula.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Cyber Security at ADSU
| Requirement | Cyber Security at ADSU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English plus (usually) Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Agricultural Science or Geography |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics (ADSU’s 2026 rule). Computing degrees usually also want Physics and other sciences. |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprinted 2026 notice. Two sittings are widely accepted in Nigeria, but one sitting is safer. |
| Direct Entry | ADSU has not published Direct Entry rules for this course. |
| First choice | ADSU as first choice, or a JAMB change of institution to ADSU (2026 notice) |
If the course cannot be selected for ADSU, Computer Science (170) uses the same kind of combination, and Information System (150) is the other new computing course on ADSU’s list.
Because Cyber Security did not appear on JAMB’s ADSU list, there is no ADSU brochure entry to quote. The combination above is JAMB’s usual one for this kind of degree at other universities; confirm on the e-brochure.
How ADSU screening worked in 2026
ADSU’s 2026/2027 screening ran from Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 and is now closed. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool and Androidpols, described an online screening exercise; no test was announced.
| Detail | ADSU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who scored 150 and above in the 2026 UTME with ADSU as first choice, plus Direct Entry candidates; others had to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB website |
| Minimum for Cyber Security | 160 |
| O’level | Five credits including English and Mathematics |
| Fee | ₦2,000 |
| Where | www.adsu.edu.ng, “post UTME” link |
| Test | None announced |
| Dates | 15 June to 30 October 2026 (closed) |
Worked example for a Cyber Security candidate
ADSU has not published an aggregate or ranking formula, and with no test there is no Post-UTME score to combine. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the 160 cut-off and a safe target. The candidates below are made up to show the arithmetic.
Take Ismail, who scored 189 and has B2, B3, C4, C4 and C5 in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Further Mathematics from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 189 minus 160 = 29. He clears the Cyber Security cut-off by 29 marks.
- Against my safe target: 195 minus 189 = 6. He is 6 marks below the score I would call comfortable.
- O’level check: Mathematics and Physics are strong, with English and two more sciences.
- What I would advise: confirm the course can be selected for ADSU. If it can, he is a fair candidate; if not, Computer Science is open to him at 189.
Felicia scored 157. 160 minus 157 = 3, so she misses Cyber Security by three marks. She still clears Information System at 150 by 7 marks, if that course is on CAPS.
How to apply for Cyber Security at ADSU, step by step
- Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME: choose Cyber Security with English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Chemistry, Biology, Economics or Agricultural Science (confirm on the e-brochure), and make ADSU your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution before ADSU’s screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. JAMB admits through CAPS, so the upload has to include English, Mathematics and Physics and two other science subjects.
- Fill the ADSU screening form: in 2026 ADSU told candidates to go to www.adsu.edu.ng, click on “post UTME” and fill in the required details. The fee was ₦2,000. Print the slip the portal gives you.
- Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng and open Check Admission Status. Accept the offer when it appears, or reject it if you have a better one.
- Print your JAMB admission letter: after accepting on CAPS, print it from the JAMB portal. ADSU will ask for it at clearance.
- Pay acceptance and clear: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Confirm the amount on the ADSU portal and pay only through it.
ADSU’s 2026 screening was an online form with a ₦2,000 fee, and every genuine admission offer shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a Cyber Security “slot” at ADSU.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed. If you applied for Cyber Security in 2026, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.
Studying Cyber Security at ADSU
Cyber Security trains people to protect computer systems, networks and data: preventing attacks, detecting them, and investigating them afterwards.
NUC’s newer core curriculum for universities treats Cyber Security as a computing degree of its own, separate from Computer Science. At ADSU it is in the Faculty of Science and Computing.
What you study
- Programming, mathematics for computing and data structures
- Computer networks and operating systems
- Cryptography
- Network and web application security, including ethical hacking
- Digital forensics and incident response
- Security policy, law and a final-year project
Degree, duration and accreditation
ADSU has not printed the degree title or length on its cut-off list; a B.Sc. over four years is usual for UTME entrants.
I found no NUC approval announcement naming Cyber Security at ADSU. It is not among the eight programmes in ADSU’s December 2024 release on NUC approvals (signed by D. D. Kwabe and reprinted by Myschool on 3 January 2025), and NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication (uploaded September 2026) has no row for it. Ask ADSU for the course’s NUC status in writing before you accept.
Careers
- Security operations (SOC) analyst
- Network and cloud security roles in banks, fintechs and telecoms
- Digital forensics work with law enforcement and consultancies
- Penetration testing, with industry certifications alongside the degree

Mistakes that cost Cyber Security applicants an ADSU place
- Assuming the course is on JAMB: it was not on JAMB’s ADSU list when checked; confirm before registration.
- Treating 160 as an admission score: it is the lowest score ADSU will consider.
- No Mathematics credit: ADSU’s 2026 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
- ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB website.
- O’level missing on CAPS: without it, CAPS cannot process an offer.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.
If you are trying again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.
