The Akwa Ibom Poly Civil Engineering Technology cut off mark is 100 in the UTME. Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua put its 2026/2027 ND cut-off at “100 and above” in the 2026 UTME. That is the same as JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics, and there is no separate figure for Civil Engineering Technology.
2027/2028 update: Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
JAMB’s course list for Akwa Ibom Poly has Civil Engineering Technology, and so does the school’s own 2026/2027 ND admission notice. You can select this established course on your UTME profile. I have also added a safe target score and a worked example for Civil Engineering Technology, both marked as my advice.

Akwa Ibom Poly Civil Engineering Technology cut-off history
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics and monotechnics | Official |
| 2026/2027 | 100 and above | Akwa Ibom Poly ND cut-off for all ND applicants | Official (school notice, via Myschool) |
| 2025/2026 | 100 | JAMB national minimum for polytechnics | Official (reported by Nairametrics, 8 July 2025) |
| 2024/2025 | 120 | Minimum reported on a blog’s Akwa Ibom Poly post-UTME page | Unofficial (allschool; no school notice cited) |
| Any year | None | A separate Akwa Ibom Poly cut-off for Civil Engineering Technology | Never published in any source I found |
The school figure fell from the 120 blogs reported for 2024/2025 to “100 and above” in the 2026/2027 notice, which brings it in line with JAMB’s national minimum. Treat any Civil Engineering Technology cut-off you see quoted as a guess, because none has been published.
Safe target score for Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly (my advice)
These bands are my own judgement as someone who advises applicants, applied to Civil Engineering Technology. Akwa Ibom Poly has not set them, and the school does not publish merit lists with scores.
| Your UTME score | My read for ND Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly |
|---|---|
| Below 100 | Not eligible for any ND course this session |
| 100 to 119 | Eligible, but borderline for a popular course |
| 120 to 139 | Fair chance, stronger with good O’level grades |
| 140 to 159 | Good chance; 150 is the score I would aim for |
| 160 and above | Strong |
If you are writing the 2027 UTME for Civil Engineering Technology, I would aim for 150 or more. Pair it with clean credits in the O’level subjects below. The minimum only gets you screened, and the margin above it protects you when applicants outnumber places.
Catchment and state of origin
Akwa Ibom Poly is an Akwa Ibom State Government polytechnic that also admits candidates from other states. State polytechnics often give indigenes some kind of preference, yet this one has not published any catchment list or quota for 2026/2027. My advice for Civil Engineering Technology applicants: do not count on a state-of-origin effect, and do not worry about one, unless the notice mentions it.
Akwa Ibom Poly Civil Engineering Technology subject combination and O’level requirements
| Requirement | ND Civil Engineering Technology |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry |
| O’level | Credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, plus two from Biology/Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics/Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Woodwork, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and Economics/Commerce |
| English Language | The brochure requires at least a credit in English Language |
| Brochure remark for Akwa Ibom Poly | None found |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (named in the school notice) |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprint; most polytechnics accept two sittings |
My pick for the UTME: English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Use our JAMB Chemistry syllabus to plan revision.
Your five credits should be built on the core subjects in the table (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for this course). If one slot is free, use it for a subject that helps Civil Engineering Technology. Then upload that exact result to JAMB CAPS and bring the same one to screening, so the grades match.
Direct Entry and the HND route
Direct Entry does not exist for ND year one, so the UTME and JAMB CAPS are the only way into ND Civil Engineering Technology. Later, with your ND and a one-year industrial attachment done, you can apply straight to the polytechnic for the HND, outside CAPS. See Akwa Ibom Poly HND admission requirements for that route.
How Akwa Ibom Poly screening works
Akwa Ibom Poly ran 2026/2027 in two steps: the ND cut-off and screening fee in June 2026, then screening for ND and HND applicants in September. Everything below comes from Myschool’s reprints of the notices, as I could not open the school’s own website.
| Detail | What the 2026/2027 notices say | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates who scored 100 and above in the 2026 UTME | Official |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, from WAEC, NECO or NABTEB | Official |
| Screening fee | ₦2,000 | Official |
| Screening dates | Wednesday 9 to Friday 11 September 2026, from 9:00 a.m. each day | Official; these dates have passed |
| Format | Candidates reported to their departments with their documents, including the WAEC or NECO statement of result | Official; no computer test was mentioned |
| Portal and closing date | Not shown in the reprint | Check the school website, akwaibompoly.edu.ng |
| 2024/2025 (for comparison) | A blog reported 120 and above, a ₦2,000 form and a 30 August 2024 closing date | Unofficial |
Departments checked documents in 2026; the notice did not mention a written or computer test. From how such screening usually works, I would say the UTME score and the quality of the O’level result separate candidates more than anything else. For Civil Engineering Technology, that means clean credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. This is my reading, since the school has not published its ranking method.
Worked example for an ND Civil Engineering Technology applicant
Take Aniekan, who scored 158 in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, with credits in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Technical Drawing from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 158 minus 100 = 58. Aniekan is above the school minimum.
- Against my safe target: 158 minus 150 = 8. That is inside the range I would aim for.
- O’level check: one sitting, with the Civil Engineering Technology core subjects covered, so there is no sittings problem.
- CAPS check: Aniekan still has to upload the same O’level result to JAMB CAPS, or no offer can be approved.
Akwa Ibom Poly has not said how it ranks applicants after screening, so this is only an illustration. With equally good documents, the candidate with the higher UTME score is usually ahead: Aniekan on 158 would rank above a Civil Engineering Technology applicant on 110 with identical O’level grades.
Your chances of getting Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly
- Civil Engineering Technology is one of the busier engineering courses, so expect strong competition.
- A score in the 140s or above with credits in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry puts you in a good position.
- If CAPS offers you Building Technology, Quantity Surveying or Surveying instead, they all lead to construction work.
- Blogs reported several batches of ND lists at Akwa Ibom Poly in 2025/2026, so not appearing on the first one was not a rejection.
- The 2026/2027 polytechnic deadline set by JAMB is 31 December 2026, so late offers are possible.
How to apply for Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly, step by step
- Start with your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 using the phone line linked to that NIN.
- School and course: pick Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua and Civil Engineering Technology as JAMB lists it, and sit the subject combination above.
- Check your institution choice: if Akwa Ibom Poly was not your choice, do a JAMB change of institution ahead of screening. Coming from another course? See JAMB change of course.
- Apply for screening: watch akwaibompoly.edu.ng for the notice. Follow the application link in it, pay the fee (₦2,000 in 2026), fill the form and print the slip.
- Get your O’level onto CAPS: go to a JAMB accredited centre to upload the result that carries your Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry credits. Until CAPS shows an O’level result, JAMB cannot approve an offer.
- Attend departmental screening: the 2026 exercise had candidates reporting to their departments from 9:00 a.m. with their documents. Take your UTME result slip, your screening slip and the WAEC or NECO statement of result; for Civil Engineering Technology, it should show your Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry credits.
- Accept on CAPS: go to efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept it. The JAMB CAPS guide covers what each status means.
- Acceptance fee and clearance: the acceptance fee has not been published in any source I reached. Pay only through an invoice generated on the school portal, then complete clearance using your printed JAMB admission letter.
Warning
Admission into Akwa Ibom Poly comes through JAMB CAPS. Walk away from anyone selling a “special list” slot or a change of course. You will see a genuine offer on your CAPS page, and genuine school payments go through a portal invoice generated in your name.
For the earlier stages, we have guides on when JAMB 2027 registration starts and, when results are released, how to check your JAMB result.
Studying Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly
ND Civil Engineering Technology belongs to the School of Engineering. The campus is at Ikot Osurua, off the Aba road near Ikot Ekpene in Akwa Ibom State. The course trains technicians who set out, build and test roads, drains, bridges and buildings.
What you study
These are the usual NBTE ND curriculum topics for Civil Engineering Technology. The department has not published its own course list online.
- Engineering mathematics and engineering drawing
- Strength of materials and structural mechanics
- Construction materials and concrete technology
- Land surveying and setting out
- Soil mechanics, hydraulics and highway engineering basics
- Workshop practice, computing and general studies
Duration and accreditation
Akwa Ibom Poly has not published a timetable for Civil Engineering Technology, so plan with the national NBTE pattern. The ND takes two years full time, including a short SIWES attachment. An HND then needs a one-year industrial attachment and, usually, an ND with at least a Lower Credit.
NBTE status for ND Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic is something I could not confirm. The polytechnic is in the NBTE directory as a state polytechnic established in 1991. Ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of approved programmes, before you pay fees.
Careers after the ND
- Site technician or site supervisor with construction firms
- Soil and materials testing technician
- Technical officer in works ministries and local government works departments
- Assistant on road and drainage projects run by state and federal agencies
- HND Civil Engineering Technology, then registration with COREN as an engineering technologist (check COREN’s current rules)

Mistakes that cost Civil Engineering Technology applicants
- Registering Technical Drawing instead of Chemistry: the base UTME line is Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
- No credit in Chemistry or Physics: both are core O’level subjects.
- Forgetting the English credit: the brochure asks for at least a credit.
- O’level missing on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve an offer without it.
- Missing the departmental screening: in 2026 it ran for three days only, 9 to 11 September.
Akwa Ibom Poly Civil Engineering Technology: frequently asked questions
What are the JAMB subjects for Civil Engineering in Akwa Ibom Poly? Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The brochure has no remark for this school that changes that.
Is Technical Drawing compulsory for Civil Engineering Technology? No. It is one of the optional O’level subjects. Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English Language are the credits you must have.
When is Akwa Ibom Poly screening? The 2026/2027 screening for ND and HND candidates ran from 9 to 11 September 2026, so it has passed. No 2027/2028 dates have been announced.
Is 135 enough for Civil Engineering Technology at Akwa Ibom Poly? You are eligible, because 135 clears the 100 minimum. It is below the 150 I would aim for in Civil Engineering Technology, though, so make sure your O’level result is strong.
Sources and updates
The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 deadline for admissions are from the News Agency of Nigeria report covering JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 minimum of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025), and Blueprint and AllAfrica reports match it. Whether Civil Engineering Technology is on JAMB’s list comes from the Myschool list of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic courses. The campus location and the founding year come from the NBTE directory and Wikipedia. The older figure of 120 (2024/2025) is from an allschool blog post and is unofficial. The school’s cut-off of “100 and above” and its screening fee of ₦2,000 come from the school’s 2026/2027 notice (Myschool reprint, 27 June 2026). The 9 to 11 September 2026 screening details are from Myschool (25 August 2026). The worked example and the safe target scores are my advice, not figures from the school. Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s polytechnic brochure (ND Civil Engineering Technology brochure page) gives the UTME and O’level requirements. Everything was checked on 3 November 2026, and I will update this page when Akwa Ibom Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
