The ADSU cut off mark for Industrial Chemistry is 150 in the UTME, and that is the figure to plan with for 2027/2028. Adamawa State University, Mubi published it in its official list of approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session, signed for the Registrar by Admission Officer Dunfe S. Anjili. That matches JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, and ADSU set the same 150 for most of its courses. The figure was also 150 in 2025/2026.
2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Industrial Chemistry asks for Mathematics in the UTME, which separates it from plain Chemistry at ADSU. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the subjects and credits, how the 2026 screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the course covers.

|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | ADSU programme cut-off | Official (signed by Dunfe S. Anjili for the Registrar) |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | ADSU programme cut-off | Official (signed by Angyatiya B. Atimi for the Registrar) |
| 2026 (national) | 150 | JAMB minimum for all universities | Official (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
ADSU kept Industrial Chemistry at 150 on both lists, the same as Chemistry. The only Faculty of Science courses above 150 are Biochemistry, Microbiology and Computer Science (170) and Cyber Security (160).
Is 150 enough for Industrial Chemistry at ADSU?
ADSU calls these figures cut-off marks, and in practice they work as the lowest score it will consider for the course. ADSU has not published the score of the last candidate admitted into Industrial Chemistry, so nobody outside the admissions office knows how far above 150 the intake went.
Industrial Chemistry is a steady course rather than a crowded one at ADSU. It is a common second option for candidates who aimed at Biochemistry and fell short of 170.
Safe target score for Industrial Chemistry at ADSU (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an ADSU rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Industrial Chemistry at ADSU |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Below JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, so ADSU cannot consider you for any course |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Your chance depends on how many stronger candidates chose Industrial Chemistry |
| 165 to 179 | A reasonable chance if your O’level is complete and on CAPS |
| 180 to 199 | Good. This is the range I would aim for |
| 200 and above | Strong for this course |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. Strong Mathematics and Chemistry results matter here, since much of the course is calculation.
Catchment and indigene rules
The only catchment rule on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list is for Law, where Adamawa indigenes needed 230 and non-indigenes 260. Industrial Chemistry has one figure, 150, for every candidate. ADSU has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for any other course, so do not plan around the federal 45/35/20 formula.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Industrial Chemistry at ADSU
| Requirement | Industrial Chemistry at ADSU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English plus Chemistry, Mathematics and one of Physics, Biology or Agricultural Science |
| O’level | Five credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology or Agricultural Science (JAMB brochure). |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprinted 2026 notice. Two sittings are widely accepted in Nigeria, but one sitting is safer. |
| Direct Entry | Two A level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics, or an ND in Science Laboratory Technology or a related course, with the UTME requirements also met (JAMB brochure). |
| First choice | ADSU as first choice, or a JAMB change of institution to ADSU (2026 notice) |
Mathematics is compulsory in the UTME for Industrial Chemistry. Candidates who register Chemistry, Biology and Physics, which fits plain Chemistry, do not fit this course.
The subjects above are JAMB’s general requirements for Industrial Chemistry from the brochure page as reprinted by Myschool. That page has no special remark for ADSU. Check the ADSU line on your own JAMB e-brochure before registration day.
How ADSU screening worked in 2026
ADSU’s 2026/2027 screening ran from Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 and is now closed. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool and Androidpols, described an online screening exercise; no test was announced.

Worked example for an Industrial Chemistry candidate
ADSU has not published an aggregate or ranking formula, and with no test there is no Post-UTME score to combine. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the 150 cut-off and a safe target. The candidates below are made up to show the arithmetic.
Take Elisha, who scored 177 and has B3, B3, C4, C5 and C6 in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 177 minus 150 = 27. He clears the Industrial Chemistry cut-off by 27 marks.
- Against my safe target: 180 minus 177 = 3. He is 3 marks below the score I would call comfortable.
- O’level check: every subject JAMB lists for Industrial Chemistry is a credit.
- What I would advise: a sound score for this course. He should keep it as his first course rather than switch to Biochemistry, where 177 is only 7 above the 170 cut-off.
Asabe scored 186 but registered English, Chemistry, Biology and Physics. 186 minus 150 = 36, a strong margin, but without Mathematics in the UTME she does not fit JAMB’s combination for Industrial Chemistry. Chemistry at ADSU, also 150, accepts her subjects.
How to apply for Industrial Chemistry at ADSU, step by step
- Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME: choose Industrial Chemistry with English, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics (or Biology or Agricultural Science), and make ADSU your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution before ADSU’s screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. JAMB admits through CAPS, so the upload has to include English, Mathematics and Chemistry, Physics and Biology or Agricultural Science.
- Fill the ADSU screening form: in 2026 ADSU told candidates to go to www.adsu.edu.ng, click on “post UTME” and fill in the required details. The fee was ₦2,000. Print the slip the portal gives you.
- Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng and open Check Admission Status. Accept the offer when it appears, or reject it if you have a better one.
- Print your JAMB admission letter: after accepting on CAPS, print it from the JAMB portal. ADSU will ask for it at clearance.
- Pay acceptance and clear: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Confirm the amount on the ADSU portal and pay only through it.
Warning
ADSU’s 2026 screening was an online form with a ₦2,000 fee, and every genuine admission offer shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises an Industrial Chemistry “slot” at ADSU.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed. If you applied for Industrial Chemistry in 2026, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.
Studying Industrial Chemistry at ADSU
Industrial Chemistry applies chemistry to manufacturing: how raw materials become products such as paints, soaps, plastics, fertilisers, drinks and fuels, and how quality is controlled along the way.
Compared with Chemistry, it spends more time on industrial processes, unit operations and plant work. It is in ADSU’s Faculty of Science and Computing.
What you study
- Inorganic, organic, physical and analytical chemistry
- Chemical process calculations and unit operations
- Polymer, petroleum and petrochemical chemistry
- Industrial processes for paints, soaps, detergents and food
- Instrumental analysis and quality control
- Industrial attachment and a final-year project
Degree, duration and accreditation
ADSU has not printed the degree title or length on its cut-off list; a B.Sc. over four years is usual for UTME entrants.
NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication lists ADSU Industrial Chemistry with an Interim result followed by three Full results, and 2028 as the date beside it.
Careers
- Quality control chemist in food, beverage, paint, soap and cement factories
- Oil and gas, water treatment and fertiliser companies
- Regulatory product testing
- Teaching and postgraduate study. Chemists in Nigeria register with the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON) after graduation.

Mistakes that cost Industrial Chemistry applicants an ADSU place
- No Mathematics in the UTME: JAMB requires it for Industrial Chemistry.
- Treating 150 as an admission score: it is the lowest score ADSU will consider.
- No Mathematics credit: ADSU’s 2026 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
- ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB website.
- O’level missing on CAPS: without it, CAPS cannot process an offer.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.
If you are trying again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.
