Adamawa Poly Banking and Finance Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028

Adamawa Poly’s cut off mark for Banking and Finance is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100, with no departmental figure published. Here are the safe target score, subjects, O’level rules, screening and CAPS steps.

The Adamawa Poly cut off mark for Banking and Finance is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in both 2025/2026 and 2026/2027. Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola has not published a separate cut-off for ND Banking and Finance, and I found no school notice that sets one. So the Adamawa Poly Banking and Finance cut-off mark, for planning purposes, is 100 plus whatever competition the course attracts in your year.

2027/2028 update: Adamawa Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum for polytechnics, because Adamawa Poly has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

A score of 100 makes you eligible to be considered. It does not guarantee a place. Below you will find the verified figures, the last cut-off the polytechnic itself announced, a safe target score (my advice), the JAMB subject combination and O’level rules for Banking and Finance, what is known about screening, a worked example and the CAPS steps.

Is Banking and Finance on Adamawa Poly’s course list?

Adamawa Poly has no official ND course list online that I could reach; its website, adamawapoly.edu.ng, did not load during my checks. Banking and Finance appears on Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list for the polytechnic (18 courses, checked 3 November 2026); the naija-find-uni course directory (16 courses, undated); and an o3schools course list (25 November 2025), but not on Wikipedia’s list of the polytechnic’s courses. All of these are unofficial copies, so before you register, confirm on the JAMB e-brochure or on your CAPS page that Banking and Finance is listed under Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola.

Banking and Finance is missing from Wikipedia’s list, which is why I flag it. Two separate lists and JAMB’s own course list include it, so I treat it as running, but a quick CAPS check costs nothing.

2019/2020120“Candidates who scored 120 and above in UTME for all courses”Myschool reprint of the polytechnic’s notice, 15 July 2019

The 2019/2020 figure of 120 applied to every ND course, Banking and Finance included. It is the only cut-off I could trace to the polytechnic itself, and it is now seven sessions old. JAMB has kept the national polytechnic floor at 100 since then, and Adamawa Poly’s later notices do not repeat a figure. Some blogs quote a higher “Adamawa Poly cut-off” without citing any notice; I would not plan around a number nobody can source.

Safe target score for Banking and Finance at Adamawa Poly (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an Adamawa Poly rule, and I found no published Adamawa Poly merit list with scores.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Banking and Finance at Adamawa Poly
Below 100Not eligible for any ND course in 2026/2027
100 to 119Eligible; possible in a quiet year, but risky
120 to 139Reasonable for Banking and Finance
140 to 169Competitive
170 and aboveStrong

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for 140 or more. Banking and Finance usually attracts fewer applicants than Accountancy, so a score in the 140s with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics should put you in a fair position. If you are torn between the two courses, that difference in demand is worth weighing.

Does state of origin matter?

Adamawa Poly is owned by the Adamawa State Government, but it has not published a catchment list or a quota split between indigenes and other candidates. I found no rule limiting ND admission to Adamawa indigenes. I would not count on any indigene advantage, or worry about lacking one, unless the polytechnic’s own notice mentions it.

Adamawa Poly Banking and Finance subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Banking and Finance
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics and any two of Economics, Geography, History, Government, Commerce and Principles of Accounts
O’levelFive credits including English Language (not Literature) and Mathematics, plus any three relevant subjects such as Economics/Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Government/History and Geography
Adamawa Poly remark in the JAMB brochureNone
Exams acceptedWAEC, NECO and NABTEB, or GCE; the polytechnic’s advert also accepts NBTE pre-ND results and NTC, NBC or NVC certificates with five relevant credits
SittingsNot more than two sittings (polytechnic advert, as reprinted)
Interview or practicalNone published

Mathematics is compulsory in the UTME. For the other two, Economics plus either Commerce or Principles of Accounts gives you the most useful base for the first year. History or Government are allowed too, which helps arts-leaning candidates.

The polytechnic’s own O’level rule

For Business Studies programmes, the polytechnic’s admission advert (as reprinted by blogs) asks for credits in both English Language and Mathematics. Economics is not compulsory in the brochure line, but some schools treat it as expected for finance courses, so I would include a credit in Economics if you have one.

Direct Entry and the HND route

There is no Direct Entry into the first year of an ND. ND Banking and Finance admission goes through the UTME and CAPS. After the ND and a year of industrial attachment, you would apply for the HND directly to the polytechnic. The HND list in the one blog reprint I found does not name Banking and Finance, so check whether an HND exists before planning around one. See our Adamawa Poly HND admission guide for what is known about HND entry.

ND Banking and Finance or the UNIMAID-affiliated degree?

JAMB also lists Banking and Finance under “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola (affiliated to University of Maiduguri)”. That is a degree route under UNIMAID, with university entry rules and the higher university minimum score. Its current intake is unconfirmed. If you want the two-year ND, choose the plain Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola entry.

How Adamawa Poly screening works

I could not find an official 2026/2027 screening notice from Adamawa Poly. What follows comes from blog reprints of the polytechnic’s admission advert, so treat every line as something to confirm on the portal.

Worked example for an ND Banking and Finance applicant

Adamawa Poly has not published an aggregate formula, so start by measuring how far your UTME score sits from the 100 minimum, from the old 120 figure and from a safe target. Take Ibrahim, who scored 148 with credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Geography from two sittings.

  1. Eligibility: 148 minus 100 = 48. Ibrahim clears JAMB’s minimum.
  2. Against the 2019/2020 figure: 148 minus 120 = 28. Even if the polytechnic went back to 120, this score passes.
  3. Against my safe target: 148 minus 140 = 8. He is just above my safe target.
  4. O’level check: five relevant credits from two sittings, which the polytechnic’s advert allows. His results are on CAPS.

Many Nigerian polytechnics rank candidates by a mix of UTME score and screening score. Purely to show how such a mix works, take the UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus a screening score out of 50. A score of 148 gives 18.5, and 30 out of 50 in screening would bring the total to 48.5 out of 100. A candidate with 110 and the same screening score would have 43.75. This formula is an illustration only. Adamawa Poly has not published one.

Your chances of getting Banking and Finance at Adamawa Poly

  • Banking and Finance is usually less crowded than Accountancy at polytechnic level, though demand varies by year.
  • A score in the 140s or higher with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics is a solid position.
  • With a score close to 100, admission is possible only if the course does not fill; keep your options open on CAPS.
  • JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for polytechnics, so offers can come late in the year.

If CAPS shows an offer for Accountancy or Business Administration and Management instead, compare the courses before you reject anything. All three lead to banking, finance and administrative jobs, and you can specialise later at HND level.

How to apply for Banking and Finance at Adamawa Poly, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: choose Banking and Finance with English, Mathematics and two of Economics, Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Government, History and Geography.
  3. Pick the right institution: choose Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola as first choice. Do not pick the separate listing that ends in “affiliated to University of Maiduguri”; that one is for degree courses.
  4. Fix your choice if needed: if Adamawa Poly was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before screening. To move into Banking and Finance from another course, see JAMB change of course.
  5. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB accredited centre. JAMB cannot process an admission while CAPS shows no O’level result.
  6. Fill the screening form: when the polytechnic opens its form, pay the fee shown on the official portal, fill the form and print the acknowledgement and screening slips. Blogs give the fee as ₦2,000 and the portal as spy.admissions.cloud; both are unverified, so check the address against an official Adamawa Poly notice first.
  7. Sit the screening: go on the date on your slip, with both slips, your UTME result slip and your O’level results.
  8. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  9. Pay acceptance and clear: Adamawa Poly has not published its acceptance fee in any official source I reached. Pay only through an invoice from the polytechnic’s portal, then complete clearance.

Warning

JAMB lists two Adamawa State Polytechnic entries. “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola” is the one for ND courses. “Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola (affiliated to University of Maiduguri)” is for degree courses and follows university rules. Choosing the wrong entry can leave you outside the ND admission list, so check your choice on your JAMB profile before screening.

If you still need to sit the UTME, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts, and when results come out, see how to check your JAMB result.

Studying Banking and Finance at Adamawa Poly

ND Banking and Finance teaches how banks, microfinance institutions and other financial firms work, from deposits and lending to basic financial analysis. Adamawa Poly has not published which of its campuses (Jimeta-Yola, Jambutu or Numan) runs the course.

What you study

  • Principles and practice of banking
  • Financial accounting and elements of finance
  • Money, banking and monetary economics
  • Business law and the law of banking
  • Business mathematics and statistics
  • Computer applications and general studies courses

Duration and accreditation

Under the standard NBTE structure, the ND runs for two years full time. Students who want the HND then do a one-year industrial attachment before applying, and the HND usually asks for an ND at Lower Credit or above. Adamawa Poly has not published a course timetable for Banking and Finance, so treat this as the national pattern.

Adamawa Poly is a state polytechnic under the NBTE. I could not confirm the current NBTE accreditation status of ND Banking and Finance itself. Ask the department, or check the NBTE’s list of accredited programmes, before you pay school fees.

Careers after the ND

  • Bank teller, customer service or operations assistant
  • Microfinance banks, cooperatives and fintech agents
  • Accounts and finance assistant in firms and public offices
  • Further study through HND or a degree, and later banking exams with CIBN

Mistakes that cost Banking and Finance applicants a place at Adamawa Poly

  • Choosing the UNIMAID-affiliated entry for an ND: it is a separate degree listing with different rules.
  • Skipping Mathematics in the UTME: it is compulsory for Banking and Finance.
  • A pass in English or Mathematics at O’level: business courses need credits in both.
  • No O’level on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve your admission without it.
  • Paying before checking the portal address: the portal named by blogs is unverified.

Adamawa Poly Banking and Finance cut-off: frequently asked questions

Sources and updates

The 100 minimum for polytechnics and the 31 December 2026 admission deadline come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s 2026 policy meeting (11 May 2026). The 2025 figure of 100 is from Nairametrics (8 July 2025) and matching Blueprint and AllAfrica reports. The UTME and O’level requirements are from JAMB’s polytechnic brochure as reprinted by Myschool (ND Banking and Finance brochure page), checked on 3 November 2026. That page carries no remark for Adamawa Poly. The course listing is from the Myschool list of Adamawa State Polytechnic courses, cross-checked against the naija-find-uni directory, o3schools (25 November 2025) and Wikipedia. The 120 cut-off for 2019/2020 is from Myschool’s reprint of the polytechnic’s notice (15 July 2019), and the 2022/2023 entry rules are from Myschool’s reprint of the ND advert (8 September 2022). The screening fee, portal and test rules are from schoolings.org (page modified 12 March 2026) and remain unverified. The UNIMAID affiliation listing is from Myschool’s JAMB course list for the affiliated entry. The safe target scores and the worked example are my own advice. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when Adamawa Poly publishes its 2027/2028 notice.
