The ADSU cut-off mark for Animal Production is 160 in the UTME. Adamawa State University, Mubi printed that figure for “Animal Production” in its approved programme cut-off list for the 2026/2027 session, signed for the Registrar by Admission Officer Dunfe S. Anjili. That is 10 marks above JAMB’s national minimum of 150 and the highest figure in ADSU’s Faculty of Agriculture.
2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Every other agric course on ADSU’s list is at 150, so a candidate with 155 can apply for Crop Science or Fisheries but not for Animal Production. This page sets out the official figures, a safe target, the subject rules (including two ADSU-specific remarks in the JAMB brochure), how the 2026/2027 screening worked and what you do with the degree.

ADSU Animal Production cut-off history
| Session | ADSU cut-off for Animal Production | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 160 | ADSU approved programme cut-off list (signed for the Registrar by Dunfe S. Anjili) |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | ADSU programme cut-off list for 2025/2026 (signed for the Registrar by Angyatiya B. Atimi) |
| Change | Raised by 10 marks | Comparison of the two official lists |
ADSU raised Animal Production from 150 in 2025/2026 to 160 in 2026/2027 and did not say why. It was one of a handful of rises: Law went from 220 to 230 for Adamawa indigenes and from 250 to 260 for everyone else, Biochemistry from 160 to 170, and Business Administration from 150 to 160. Most other courses stayed at 150. A course that has just been raised can be raised again, so leave yourself a margin above 160.
Where Animal Production sits among ADSU’s cut-off tiers
| ADSU cut-off | Programmes on the 2026/2027 list |
|---|---|
| 230 (Adamawa indigenes) and 260 (non-indigenes) | Common Law and Sharia |
| 170 | Biochemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science |
| 160 | Animal Production, Cyber Security, Business Administration, Mass Communication |
| 150 | Every other programme on the list, including all Arts and Education courses and the remaining Agriculture, Science, Management and Social Science courses |
Animal Production shares the 160 tier with Cyber Security, Business Administration and Mass Communication. Within agriculture it stands alone: Agricultural Economics and Extension, Crop Science, Fisheries and Aquaculture, Agricultural Extension and Innovation and Agribusiness are all 150.
What to do if you scored between 150 and 159
ADSU raised Animal Production from 150 in 2025/2026 to 160 in 2026/2027 and did not give a reason. Whatever the reason, a 2026 score of 150 to 159 leaves you short for this course and eligible for the other agric courses.
| Your score | Animal Production (160) | Other ADSU agric courses (150) |
|---|---|---|
| 150 to 159 | Below the cut-off | Eligible |
| 160 and above | Eligible | Eligible |
Fisheries and Aquaculture is the closest fit if livestock and animal nutrition are what interest you, and it has its own Full NUC accreditation line. Crop Science and Agricultural Economics and Extension use the same UTME combination as Animal Production, so you would not need to change subjects. For the 2027 UTME, the better plan is to clear 160 with room to spare.
Safe target score for Animal Production at ADSU (my advice)
ADSU publishes a minimum score for each course and nothing about the scores of the people it finally admitted. The table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, based on where Animal Production sits on ADSU’s list. It is not an ADSU rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for ADSU Animal Production |
|---|---|
| Below 160 | Not eligible for Animal Production at ADSU on the 2026/2027 list |
| 160 to 174 | Eligible. Your O’level grades and the number of applicants decide the rest |
| 175 to 189 | Comfortable for a state university course at this level |
| 190 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180, ideally 190, with credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science and Physics. A course with a raised cut-off usually has more applicants per place than the 150 courses beside it.
Catchment and indigeneship
The only catchment rule on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list is in Law, where Adamawa indigenes need 230 and everyone else needs 260. Animal Production has one figure, 160, for every candidate. ADSU has published no state quota or catchment split for the course, so a candidate from Borno, Gombe or Lagos faces the same printed minimum as one from Mubi.
UTME subject combination and O’level for ADSU Animal Production
| Requirement | Animal Production at ADSU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics or Mathematics |
| O’level (general line) | Five credits: English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics |
| ADSU remark on O’level | ADSU (with ATBU) accepts an O’level pass in Physics with a pass in Mathematics, or the other way round |
| ADSU general rule | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics (2026/2027 notice) |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB |
| Sittings | Not stated in ADSU’s notice; one sitting is the safer plan |
The ADSU remark on Physics and Mathematics is worded loosely. Read together with ADSU’s own notice, which asks every candidate for a Mathematics credit, the practical meaning is that a pass in Physics may be accepted in place of a Physics credit. I would still not rely on it if you can avoid it: a credit in Physics removes the question.
The UTME line lets you choose Physics or Mathematics as the fourth subject. Either works for this course.
Direct Entry
The general Direct Entry line asks for two A-level passes, one in Chemistry and the other from Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Science, Geography, Geology, Mathematics or Economics. ADSU has its own Direct Entry remark for Animal Production: it accepts an ND at distinction, an HND at credit, or an NCE double major in Agriculture at credit. That is useful if you hold an agriculture diploma or NCE.
How ADSU screening worked for Animal Production in 2026/2027
ADSU ran its 2026/2027 screening online. Its notice, as reprinted by Myschool on 12 June 2026, described an online exercise and did not announce any written test, so do not let anyone sell you ADSU “post-UTME past questions” as if a test were certain.
| Detail | ADSU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose ADSU as first choice in the 2026 UTME, scored 150 or more and met the course cut-off, plus Direct Entry candidates. Others had to make ADSU their first choice on the JAMB portal |
| Minimum for Animal Production | 160 |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics |
| Fee | ₦2,000 |
| Dates | Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 (closed) |
| Where | www.adsu.edu.ng, through the post UTME link |
| Written test | None announced in the notice |
Worked example: two Animal Production candidates
ADSU has not published an aggregate formula, and with no announced test there was no Post-UTME score to combine with the UTME. So the useful sum is the gap between your score, the 160 cut-off and the safe target above. The two candidates below are illustrations.
- Musa (171, credits in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology, pass in Physics): 171 minus 160 = 11 marks above the cut-off. His O’level fits the ADSU remark on Physics. He is eligible, though 9 marks below my 180 floor.
- Comfort (157, credits in all five subjects): 157 minus 160 = minus 3. She is short for Animal Production, but 157 minus 150 = 7 above the cut-off for Fisheries and Aquaculture or Crop Science, which use the same UTME subjects.
Comfort’s case is common. When ADSU offers a different course through CAPS, the status shows as a transfer or change of course. Weigh it before you decline; it may be the difference between a place this year and another year at home.
How to apply for Animal Production at ADSU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Animal Production with English, Chemistry, Biology or Agricultural Science, and Physics or Mathematics, with Adamawa State University, Mubi as your first choice.
- Fix your first choice if needed: ADSU’s notice told candidates who had not chosen ADSU to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB portal. Our guide to JAMB change of institution explains how.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at an accredited JAMB centre as soon as your result is out. ADSU needs five credits including English Language and Mathematics.
- Complete ADSU screening: when ADSU opens screening (in 2026 it ran from 15 June to 30 October), go to www.adsu.edu.ng, click the post UTME link, fill in your details and pay the screening fee (₦2,000 in 2026). Print what the portal gives you.
- Watch and accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer when it appears. JAMB gives four weeks to accept.
- Pay acceptance and clear: ADSU’s acceptance fee was not in any official source I could reach, so take the amount and payment method from the ADSU portal itself, never from an agent.
Warning
Every genuine ADSU offer appears on JAMB CAPS. Pay screening and acceptance fees only through what the ADSU portal shows you, and ignore anyone who claims they can get you into Animal Production below 160.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for public universities, and ADSU is a state-owned public university; that date has now passed. If you applied in 2026, check your status on JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status. If you are writing the UTME in 2027, start with when JAMB 2027 registration starts.
Studying Animal Production at ADSU
Animal Production is in ADSU’s Faculty of Agriculture at Mubi. ADSU has not stated the degree title on the cut-off list; agriculture degrees in Nigeria are usually awarded as B.Agric and normally run for five years through the UTME, including a farm practical year. Confirm the exact title and duration after admission.
Accreditation
NUC’s accreditation results publication (1990 to 2025) lists ADSU’s Agriculture programme with a Full status and 2029 as its maturity year. There is no separate Animal Production line for ADSU, so the Agriculture entry is the closest NUC record.
What you study
B.Agric programmes in Nigeria normally share a common base of agricultural science in the early years and a year of farm practice before the final year. ADSU has not published a course list for this department that I could check, so read the list below as the usual shape of the degree.
- Animal science: animal nutrition and feed formulation, anatomy and physiology of farm animals, and breeding and genetics.
- Livestock systems: poultry, ruminants (cattle, sheep and goats), pigs and other species, plus pasture and range management.
- Animal health and products: basic animal health, meat and milk science, and hygiene.
- Practice and research: work on the university farm, a farm practical year and a final-year project.
Careers
- Poultry, cattle or fish-and-livestock farm management
- Feed mills, hatcheries and animal health product companies
- Livestock extension work with government programmes and NGOs
- Research institutes and postgraduate study in animal science

Mistakes that cost Animal Production applicants an ADSU place
- Applying with 150 to 159: Animal Production needs 160. Choose a 150 agric course instead, or score higher in 2027.
- Reading 160 as an admission score: it is the minimum to be considered. Admission still depends on the pool of applicants.
- Missing Mathematics: ADSU’s notice asked for five credits including English Language and Mathematics, whatever the course.
- No O’level on CAPS: an upload done late or at the wrong centre leaves your record incomplete when ADSU reviews it.
- Leaving ADSU as second choice: the screening notice was for first-choice candidates.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.
