Topfaith University has not published a cut-off mark for Mass Communication. The official minimum is 150, JAMB’s 2026 floor for universities. Topfaith’s admissions page asks only that you “meet cut-off marks in UTME in relevant subjects” and gives no number. Mass Communication holds full NUC accreditation to 2028, and tuition for 2026/2027 is ₦1,900,000 a session.
2027/2028 update: Topfaith University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum of 150, because Topfaith has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Below you will find what Topfaith has published, a safe target score (clearly marked as my advice), the UTME and O’level subjects from JAMB’s brochure, how Topfaith admits through its portal and JAMB CAPS, the 2026/2027 fees, and where Mass Communication stands with the regulators.
Topfaith University cut-off mark for Mass Communication at a glance
| Item | Position | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Topfaith cut-off for Mass Communication | Not published | Topfaith admissions page; Myschool reprint of the 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026) |
| JAMB minimum for all universities (2026 UTME) | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Safe target score | 180 and above | My advice, not a Topfaith rule |
| UTME subjects | English plus three Arts or Social Science subjects | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) |
| O’level | English, Mathematics (Topfaith rule) and Arts or Social Sciences | JAMB brochure plus Topfaith’s own rule |
| Sittings | No more than two | Topfaith admissions page |
| Faculty | Faculty of Management and Social Sciences | Topfaith fees page |
| Tuition, 2026/2027 | ₦1,900,000 per session | Official fees page |
| Acceptance fee | ₦100,000, non-refundable | Official fees page (2026/2027 freshers) |
| NUC status | Full accreditation, valid to 2028 | NUC accreditation results (Sep 2026); Topfaith news |

Topfaith Mass Communication cut-off: what has been published
| Session | Figure | What it is | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | Not published | Topfaith’s own cut-off for Mass Communication | topfaith.edu.ng/admissions (checked 3 November 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB’s minimum UTME score for every university | JAMB 2026 policy meeting (NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | No score given | Myschool reprint of Topfaith’s application notice | Myschool, 20 May 2026 |
| Earlier sessions | None found | No Topfaith departmental figure in any source I reached | Searches up to 3 November 2026 |
So the only number you can treat as official is 150. Topfaith takes its students through JAMB, and JAMB will not let any university admit a 2026 candidate below that line. If a blog shows you a “Topfaith Mass Communication cut-off” of 180 or 200, ask where it came from: none of the figures I have seen cites a Topfaith document.
Mass Communication is one of Topfaith’s older programmes and has full NUC accreditation, but Topfaith has not published a departmental cut-off for it.
Safe target score for Mass Communication at Topfaith (my advice)
This is my judgement as an admissions adviser, built from how young private universities in Nigeria usually fill their places. It is not a Topfaith rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Mass Communication at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible this session |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Possible if the class has space |
| 165 to 179 | Reasonable with good English and Literature grades |
| 180 to 209 | Good. This is the range I would aim for |
| 210 and above | Strong |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. Mass Communication is one of the most requested courses in Nigerian social science faculties, and strong English matters both for admission and for the course.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Mass Communication at Topfaith
| Requirement | Mass Communication at Topfaith |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects (JAMB brochure) | Use of English plus any three Arts or Social Science subjects. Literature in English is the safest inclusion |
| O’level (JAMB brochure) | Five credits including English Language and four other Arts or Social Science subjects. Topfaith adds a Mathematics credit for every course |
| O’level (Topfaith rule for every course) | Five credits in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, at no more than two sittings |
| Topfaith remark in the brochure | None. The Myschool reprint of JAMB’s Mass Communication page lists no Topfaith-specific remark, so the general line applies |
| Direct Entry (JAMB brochure) | Two A-level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects |
| Direct Entry (Topfaith) | Five credits plus at least two A-level passes in relevant subjects, or an ND or HND with credit, or a good first degree |
| Transfer | JAMB admission letter, transcript and an attestation letter from your previous university |
Here is the trap. JAMB’s general O’level line for Mass Communication asks for English plus four Arts or Social Science credits and does not name Mathematics. Topfaith’s own admissions rule, though, requires credits in English and Mathematics for every course. So for Topfaith, a Mathematics credit is part of your five.
In the UTME, JAMB’s general line is any three Arts or Social Science subjects. UNILAG, Bowen and others add Literature in English as a must, and ABU puts Literature first too. Topfaith has no remark, but Literature, Government and CRS or Economics is a safe set that works almost everywhere.
How Topfaith screens Mass Communication applicants
Topfaith states that all its admissions go through JAMB. You apply online on the Topfaith portal, upload your documents, and choose Topfaith as your first choice on JAMB. The 2026/2027 notice does not publish a Post-UTME test, a test date, a form price or a scoring formula, so I cannot tell you whether Mass Communication applicants sit a paper test or are judged on UTME and O’level alone.
| Detail | Topfaith 2026/2027 |
|---|---|
| Who can apply | Candidates with five relevant credits (English and Mathematics included) who meet the UTME cut-off and chose Topfaith |
| Application | Online at topfaith.edu.ng/application/ (“Start Application”) |
| Form fee | Not published |
| Post-UTME test | Not described in the notice |
| Aggregate formula | Not published |

Worked example (illustrative)
With no published formula, the useful sum is the gap between your score, the 150 floor and my safe target of 180. These candidates are made up to show the method.
Take Iniobong, who scored 196 and has B2 in English, B3 in Literature, C4 in Mathematics, C5 in Government and B3 in CRS from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 196 minus 150 = 46. Iniobong clears the JAMB floor by 46 marks.
- Against my safe target: 196 minus 180 = 16. Iniobong sits 16 marks above the score I would call safe.
- O’level check: English and Mathematics credits plus three Arts credits, one sitting.
- What I would advise: apply early and accept quickly. She is above my safe line.
Kufre scored 177. 177 minus 150 = 27, so the score itself is enough to be considered. His UTME subjects are fine, but he has only a pass (D7) in Mathematics. Some universities accept that for Mass Communication; Topfaith’s rule asks for a credit, so he should resolve it before counting on Topfaith.
Your chances of getting Mass Communication at Topfaith
Topfaith is a young private university in Mkpatak, Essien Udim LGA. Its first students matriculated in May 2022, and it now lists 26 programmes on its 2026/2027 fees page. Private universities in Akwa Ibom draw far fewer UTME applicants than the University of Uyo, and fees screen out many families, so a candidate who clears 150 and has clean O’level results is usually in a stronger position at Topfaith than at a federal university with the same score.
Mass Communication draws a lot of interest, but Topfaith’s class is not competing with the volume at UNIUYO, which spreads communication across several separate degrees. A score above 165 with clean O’level grades gives you a fair chance.
How Topfaith compares with other Akwa Ibom universities
| University | Type | 2026/2027 minimum |
|---|---|---|
| Akwa Ibom State University (AKSU) | State | 150 (reprint of AKSU 2026/2027 notice) |
| Ritman University, Ikot Ekpene | Private | No published figure; JAMB floor of 150 applies |
| Obong University, Obong Ntak | Private | No published figure; JAMB floor of 150 applies |
| University of Uyo (UNIUYO) | Federal | 150, with UNIUYO as first choice (UNIUYO 2026/2027 notice). UNIUYO runs Journalism and other communication degrees separately |
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. Private universities, Topfaith included, have until 30 November 2026, so admissions at Topfaith can still move on CAPS this month.

Mistakes that cost Mass Communication applicants a Topfaith place
- Missing the Mathematics credit: Topfaith asks for it for every course, even where JAMB’s line does not.
- Skipping Literature: not compulsory in JAMB’s general line, but it keeps more universities open.
- Science subjects in the UTME: the line asks for Arts or Social Sciences.
- Leaving O’level off CAPS: JAMB cannot process an admission without it.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and registration at Topfaith are separate steps.

Sources and updates
The application rules, the online portal and the contacts come from Topfaith’s admissions page; tuition and the ₦100,000 acceptance fee come from its fees page for 2026/2027 freshers (both checked 3 November 2026). The absence of a cut-off figure is confirmed by Myschool’s reprint of Topfaith’s 2026/2027 notice (20 May 2026). Subject requirements come from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s brochure page for Mass Communication, which carries no Topfaith remark. The NUC status comes from the NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 (uploaded September 2026), which lists Topfaith’s Accounting, Business Administration, Mass Communication, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Criminology and Security Studies and Economics with full accreditation to 2028, and Petroleum and Gas, Computer, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and Law with full accreditation to 2029. Topfaith reported the result in an article dated 19 April 2026. The national minimum of 150 and the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). Comparison figures for other Akwa Ibom universities come from their own 2026/2027 notices or reprints, as labelled in the table. The safe target score and the worked example are my advice. This page will be updated if Topfaith publishes a cut-off for Mass Communication.
