The ADSU cut off mark for Taxation is 150 in the UTME. Adamawa State University, Mubi set 150 for Taxation in its approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session, issued by the Office of the Registrar in June 2026, and the figure was the same in 2025/2026. It equals JAMB’s national minimum for universities.
2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Taxation is a B.Sc. course in ADSU’s Faculty of Administration and Management Sciences and appears on JAMB’s list of ADSU courses. Taxation is offered as a standalone degree at fewer Nigerian universities than Accounting, so check the JAMB e-brochure if you want to compare options. Below are the official figures, a safe target, the JAMB subject rules, how ADSU screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and the career picture.
ADSU cut off mark for Taxation at a glance
| Item | Figure or rule | Source or status |
|---|---|---|
| ADSU cut-off for Taxation | 150 | Official ADSU list for 2026/2027 (Office of the Registrar, June 2026) |
| Same figure in 2025/2026 | 150 | Official ADSU 2025/2026 list |
| JAMB national minimum for universities | 150 | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Departmental merit cut-off (last candidate admitted) | Not published | ADSU has not released one |
| Faculty | Administration and Management Sciences | ADSU 2026/2027 cut-off list |
| Course name on JAMB | Taxation | On ADSU’s JAMB list (Myschool reprint, read 3 November 2026) |
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint); no ADSU remark |
| 2026/2027 screening | Online, ₦2,000, 15 June to 30 October 2026 | Closed |
The 150 is ADSU’s own course figure. Taxation is less familiar to most candidates than Accounting, so it may draw a smaller pool; ADSU has not published applicant numbers to confirm that.
ADSU Taxation cut-off mark history
| Session | ADSU cut-off for Taxation | Source |
|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | ADSU approved programme cut-off list (official) |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | ADSU programme cut-off list (official) |
| Earlier sessions | Not found | No older ADSU list reached |
Taxation has stayed at 150 across both sessions I could check, as has Accounting. Only Business Administration moved up in this faculty.
Where Taxation sits on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list
ADSU published four tiers for 2026/2027. Most courses sit on the national floor of 150; a handful were pushed higher because demand for them is heavier.
| ADSU 2026/2027 cut-off | Programmes on that tier |
|---|---|
| 230 (Adamawa indigenes) / 260 (non-indigenes) | Common Law and Sharia |
| 170 | Biochemistry, Microbiology, Computer Science |
| 160 | Animal Production, Cyber Security, Business Administration, Mass Communication |
| 150 | Every other programme on the list, across Agriculture, Arts, Education, Environmental Science, Science and Computing, Administration and Management Sciences, and Social Sciences |
Taxation is on the 150 tier with Accounting, Banking and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing and Public Administration.
Safe target score for Taxation at ADSU (my advice)
Clearing the cut-off puts you in the screening pool, and ADSU then admits from that pool by merit. ADSU does not publish the score of the last candidate admitted into each course, so the table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not an ADSU rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for ADSU Taxation |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible for any ADSU course this session |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. A place depends on your O’level grades and how many people applied |
| 165 to 169 | A reasonable chance if your O’level is clean |
| 170 and above | Comfortable. This is the range I would aim for |
For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 170, with credits in English, Mathematics and Economics. Strong Mathematics matters more here than the UTME total suggests, because the course is numbers-heavy from the first semester.
Catchment and state of origin
ADSU has not published a catchment quota for Taxation. Its only state-of-origin rule for 2026/2027 is in Law. Applicants from any state who meet 150 can apply.
UTME subject combination and O’level for ADSU Taxation
| Requirement | Taxation at ADSU |
|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English plus Mathematics, one Social Science subject and any other subject (JAMB brochure, as reprinted by Myschool; no ADSU remark) |
| O’level (JAMB brochure) | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Economics and two other relevant subjects |
| O’level (ADSU 2026/2027 notice) | Five credits including English Language and Mathematics, for every course |
| Exams accepted | WAEC, NECO or NABTEB (JAMB’s usual list; ADSU’s notice did not name the bodies in the reprint I read) |
| Sittings | Not stated in the reprint of ADSU’s notice; most Nigerian universities accept two sittings, but one sitting is safer |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in Accounting or Economics and one other subject; NCE merit in relevant subjects; ND credit; or a foundation professional exam such as ICAN, ACCA, ICMA or GPFA (JAMB brochure). ADSU published no extra DE rule for Taxation. |
The brochure’s UTME rule is loose, but the sensible set is Use of English, Mathematics, Economics and Accounting (Principles of Accounts) or Commerce. That keeps Accounting and Banking and Finance open if you need a change of course.
The O’level line names Economics, so a credit in it is compulsory even though the UTME rule only asks for “one Social Science subject”.
How ADSU screening worked for Taxation in 2026/2027
ADSU ran one online screening exercise for UTME and Direct Entry candidates in 2026/2027. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool on 12 June 2026 and by Androidpols on 15 June 2026, described an online screening and did not announce a written test.
| Detail | ADSU 2026/2027 screening |
|---|---|
| Who could apply | Candidates who chose ADSU as first choice in the 2026 UTME and scored 150 or more, plus Direct Entry candidates. Others were told to change their first choice to ADSU on JAMB’s website. |
| Course minimum for Taxation | 150 |
| Fee | ₦2,000 |
| Dates | Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 (closed) |
| Where | The university website, www.adsu.edu.ng, through the Post UTME link |
| Test | None announced in the notice |
| O’level | Five credits including English and Mathematics |
Worked example for a Taxation candidate
ADSU has not published an aggregate formula, and with no announced test there is no Post-UTME score to combine with your UTME. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the official minimum and a safe target. The figures below are illustrative.
Take Ishaku, who scored 164 and has C4 in English, B3 in Mathematics, C5 in Economics, B3 in Financial Accounting and C6 in Commerce from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 164 minus 150 = 14. He clears the Taxation minimum by 14 marks.
- Against my safe target: 170 minus 164 = 6. He is 6 marks short of the score I would call safe.
- O’level check: credits in English, Mathematics and Economics plus two relevant subjects. He qualifies.
- What I would advise: keep Taxation; his Accounting and Mathematics grades will help him once he is in.
Maimuna holds an ND in Accountancy with a credit. The brochure lists ND credit as a Direct Entry route for Taxation, so she can apply as a Direct Entry candidate with ADSU as her choice.
How to apply for Taxation at ADSU, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with ADSU as first choice: choose Taxation as your course, with Use of English plus Mathematics, Economics and Accounting or Commerce. If ADSU was not your first choice, do a JAMB change of institution before the screening opens.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: go to a JAMB-accredited centre and have your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result uploaded. Without it, CAPS cannot match you to the five-credit rule.
- Fill the ADSU screening form: on adsu.edu.ng, click the Post UTME link and fill in your details. In 2026/2027 this was open from 15 June to 30 October.
- Pay the ₦2,000 screening fee: that was the 2026/2027 amount. Pay only through the method the portal gives you, and keep the receipt.
- Save your confirmation: print or save whatever the portal gives you after payment, and keep it with your JAMB result slip and O’level results.
- Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. Accept the offer if you want it. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
- Pay acceptance and clear at ADSU: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached, so confirm the amount on the portal or at the Admissions Office before you pay.
Warning
Every genuine ADSU offer shows on JAMB CAPS. ADSU’s screening needed only the portal form and the fee stated by the university, so do not pay anyone who promises a place in Taxation or a “special list”.
JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities; that date has now passed. If you applied to ADSU this year, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. If you did not get in, plan for the 2027 UTME and read when JAMB 2027 registration starts.
Studying Taxation at ADSU
ADSU did not publish a Taxation course outline in any source I could open, so the list below describes what Nigerian B.Sc. Taxation programmes normally cover. Expect four years for UTME entrants and three for Direct Entry; ADSU has not stated the duration.
What you study
- Foundations: financial accounting, economics, business mathematics, business law and statistics.
- Tax core: personal income tax, company income tax, indirect taxes such as VAT, petroleum and capital gains taxation.
- Administration: tax administration and procedure, tax audit and investigation, public finance.
- Practice: SIWES or industrial attachment, often with a tax authority or accounting firm, and a final-year project.
Accreditation
I found no NUC accreditation report for ADSU’s Taxation programme, so its status is not confirmed. For context, NUC’s accreditation report for ADSU’s Business Administration, the faculty’s best-known course, records Full accreditation with a score of 80.80% after a 2024 visit. Ask the department for the current status of Taxation before you pay acceptance.
Careers
Graduates work in state internal revenue services, the federal tax authority, accounting and audit firms, company tax departments and consultancy. Many go on to professional tax qualifications after the degree; ask the department whether it has any exemption arrangements with professional bodies, since none was published in the sources I reached.

Mistakes that cost Taxation applicants an ADSU place
- No O’level credit in Economics: the brochure names it for Taxation.
- Reading the cut-off as an admission score: it only lets you into the screening pool.
- No credit in Mathematics: ADSU’s 2026/2027 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
- O’level not uploaded to CAPS: the screening cannot match you to the five-credit rule without it.
- ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on JAMB’s website.
- Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee payment and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.

The 150 figure for Taxation comes from ADSU’s 2026/2027 approved programme cut-off list, issued by the Office of the Registrar and signed by Dunfe S. Anjili, Admission Officer, for the Registrar (uploaded June 2026). The 2025/2026 figure comes from ADSU’s 2025/2026 programme cut-off list, signed by Angyatiya B. Atimi, Admission Officer, for the Registrar. The ₦2,000 fee, the 15 June to 30 October 2026 window, the five-credit rule and the 150 general minimum come from ADSU’s 2026/2027 Post-UTME/DE notice as reprinted by Myschool (12 June 2026) and Androidpols (15 June 2026); I did not open the original PDF of that notice. The national minimum of 150 and the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules are from the JAMB brochure entry for Taxation (Myschool reprint), which has no ADSU remark. The Business Administration accreditation figure is from NUC’s accreditation report for Adamawa State University Mubi. Checked on 3 November 2026.
