ADSU Primary Education Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Requirements

Adamawa State University, Mubi set 150 as the UTME cut-off mark for Primary Education in 2026/2027, the same as 2025/2026. Here are the subjects, O’level rules, a safe target score and the screening steps for 2027/2028 candidates.

The ADSU cut off mark for Primary Education is 150 in the UTME, and that is the figure to plan with for 2027/2028. Adamawa State University, Mubi published it in its official list of approved programme cut-off marks for the 2026/2027 session, signed for the Registrar by Admission Officer Dunfe S. Anjili. That matches JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, and ADSU set the same 150 for most of its courses. The figure was also 150 in 2025/2026.

2027/2028 update: ADSU cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Primary Education has the most open UTME combination of any ADSU course, which makes the O’level rules the part to get right. Below are the official figures, a safe target score (my advice), the subjects and credits, how ADSU’s 2026 screening ran, a worked example, the CAPS steps and what the course involves.

Primary Education held at 150 across both ADSU lists, like every other Faculty of Education course. ADSU added Education Management and “Education & Science” to the 2026/2027 list, but nothing changed for Primary Education.

Is 150 enough for Primary Education at ADSU?

ADSU calls these figures cut-off marks, and in practice they work as the lowest score it will consider for the course. ADSU has not published the score of the last candidate admitted into Primary Education, so nobody outside the admissions office knows how far above 150 the intake went.

Primary Education usually draws fewer UTME applicants than courses like Accounting or Computer Science, and ADSU left it at the national minimum for both sessions. For this course your bigger risk is an incomplete O’level record, not a low UTME score.

Safe target score for Primary Education at ADSU (my advice)

This is my judgement as an admissions adviser. It is not an ADSU rule.

Your UTME scoreMy read for Primary Education at ADSU
Below 150Below JAMB’s 2026 minimum for universities, so ADSU cannot consider you for any course
150 to 164Eligible. Your chance depends on how many stronger candidates chose Primary Education
165 to 179A reasonable chance if your O’level is complete and on CAPS
180 to 199Good. This is the range I would aim for
200 and aboveStrong for this course

For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 180. If you are between 150 and 165, make sure your Mathematics and English credits are in place, because that is where candidates for this course most often fall short.

Catchment and indigene rules

The only catchment rule on ADSU’s 2026/2027 list is for Law, where Adamawa indigenes needed 230 and non-indigenes 260. Primary Education has one figure, 150, for every candidate. ADSU has not published a merit, catchment or quota split for any other course, so do not plan around the federal 45/35/20 formula.

UTME subject combination and O’level for Primary Education at ADSU

RequirementPrimary Education at ADSU
UTME subjectsUse of English plus any three subjects
O’levelFive credits including English Language and Mathematics (ADSU’s 2026 rule). JAMB’s brochure names only English, so the Mathematics credit is ADSU’s stricter requirement.
SittingsNot stated in the reprinted 2026 notice. Two sittings are widely accepted in Nigeria, but one sitting is safer.
Direct EntryJAMB’s brochure lists two A level passes in relevant subjects. Many applicants for this course hold an NCE; ADSU has not published its own DE list, so ask the Faculty of Education whether your NCE grade qualifies.
First choiceADSU as first choice, or a JAMB change of institution to ADSU (2026 notice)

JAMB asks for any three subjects plus Use of English. I would still choose subjects such as Mathematics, Biology, Government or CRS/IRS, because they also fit other education courses if you later need a change of course. The catch is O’level: ADSU asked every 2026 candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.

The subjects above are JAMB’s general requirements for Primary Education from the brochure page as reprinted by Myschool. That page has no special remark for ADSU. Check the ADSU line on your own JAMB e-brochure before registration day.

How ADSU screening worked in 2026

ADSU’s 2026/2027 screening ran from Monday 15 June to 30 October 2026 and is now closed. The notice, as reprinted by Myschool and Androidpols, described an online screening exercise; no test was announced.

Worked example for a Primary Education candidate

ADSU has not published an aggregate or ranking formula, and with no test there is no Post-UTME score to combine. What you can work out is the gap between your score, the 150 cut-off and a safe target. The candidates below are made up to show the arithmetic.

Take Dorcas, who scored 161 and has C4, C5, C5, C6 and B3 in English, Mathematics, CRS, Biology and Civic Education from two sittings.

  1. Eligibility: 161 minus 150 = 11. She clears the Primary Education cut-off by 11 marks.
  2. Against my safe target: 180 minus 161 = 19. She is 19 marks below the score I would call comfortable.
  3. O’level check: she has the English and Mathematics credits ADSU asked for. The reprinted notice did not limit sittings, but she should upload both results on CAPS.
  4. What I would advise: 161 is a fair score for this course. I would keep Primary Education as her course and not chase a 170 course.

Tanko scored 149. That is one mark below JAMB’s 2026 minimum of 150 for universities, so ADSU cannot consider him for any course, Primary Education included. His choices are a fresh UTME in 2027 or an NCE at a college of education; under JAMB’s 2026 policy, NCE candidates with the required credits register with JAMB but do not sit the UTME.

How to apply for Primary Education at ADSU, step by step

  1. Get your profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME: choose Primary Education with English and three subjects you are strong in, and make ADSU your first choice. If you did not, do a JAMB change of institution before ADSU’s screening opens.
  3. Upload your O’level to CAPS: at an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your result is out. JAMB admits through CAPS, so the upload has to include English, Mathematics and your other three credits.
  4. Fill the ADSU screening form: in 2026 ADSU told candidates to go to www.adsu.edu.ng, click on “post UTME” and fill in the required details. The fee was ₦2,000. Print the slip the portal gives you.
  5. Watch CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng and open Check Admission Status. Accept the offer when it appears, or reject it if you have a better one.
  6. Print your JAMB admission letter: after accepting on CAPS, print it from the JAMB portal. ADSU will ask for it at clearance.
  7. Pay acceptance and clear: ADSU has not published its acceptance fee in any source I reached. Confirm the amount on the ADSU portal and pay only through it.

Warning

ADSU’s 2026 screening was an online form with a ₦2,000 fee, and every genuine admission offer shows on JAMB CAPS. JAMB says admissions done outside CAPS are illegal. Do not pay anyone who promises a Primary Education “slot” at ADSU.

JAMB set 31 October 2026 as the 2026/2027 deadline for public universities to finish admissions; that date has now passed. If you applied for Primary Education in 2026, check JAMB CAPS and the ADSU portal for your admission status. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each CAPS status.

Studying Primary Education at ADSU

Primary Education trains teachers for primary schools: how children learn to read, count and reason, and how to teach each subject on the primary curriculum. JAMB lists the course for ADSU as “Primary Education Studies”.

It sits in ADSU’s Faculty of Education with Early Childhood Education, Guidance and Counselling and the subject education programmes.

What you study

  • Child development and educational psychology
  • Teaching methods for English, Mathematics, Basic Science and Social Studies at primary level
  • Literacy and numeracy teaching
  • Curriculum studies, classroom management, measurement and evaluation
  • Teaching practice in primary schools and a final-year project

Degree, duration and accreditation

ADSU’s cut-off list does not print degree titles. In its December 2024 release on new programmes ADSU used “B.Sc. Ed.” for Business Education, so expect a B.Sc. (Ed.) style degree and confirm the title on your admission letter. Four years is the usual length for UTME entrants into Nigerian education degrees; ADSU has not stated the length for this course.

NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication lists ADSU’s Primary Education with an Interim result followed by Full, and 2030 as the date beside it.

Careers

  • Primary school teacher in public and private schools (registration with the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria is needed to teach)
  • Head teacher or education officer roles later in your career
  • Literacy and child education programmes run by NGOs
  • Postgraduate study in education

For UTME revision, start with our JAMB Biology syllabus.

Mistakes that cost Primary Education applicants an ADSU place

  • Reading “any three subjects” as “any O’level”: ADSU wanted a Mathematics credit from everyone in 2026.
  • Treating 150 as an admission score: it is the lowest score ADSU will consider.
  • No Mathematics credit: ADSU’s 2026 notice asked every candidate for credits in English and Mathematics.
  • ADSU not first choice: the notice told other candidates to change their first choice to ADSU on the JAMB website.
  • O’level missing on CAPS: without it, CAPS cannot process an offer.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: the acceptance fee and clearance at ADSU are separate steps.

If you are trying again in 2027, read when JAMB 2027 registration starts and JAMB change of course.

Sources and updates

The 150 cut-off for Primary Education and the faculty names come from ADSU’s Approved Programme Cut-Off Mark for the 2026/2027 Academic Session Admissions, signed by Dunfe S. Anjili, Admission Officer, for the Registrar (uploaded June 2026). The 2025/2026 position is from ADSU’s Programme Cut-Off Mark for the 2025/2026 Academic Session Admissions, signed by Angyatiya B. Atimi, Admission Officer, for the Registrar. The screening dates, the ₦2,000 fee, the five-credit rule and the portal directions come from ADSU’s 2026/2027 notice as reprinted by Myschool (12 June 2026) and Androidpols (15 June 2026). The JAMB course name is from Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s ADSU course list, and the general UTME, O’level and Direct Entry rules from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB brochure page for Primary Education Studies. The NUC status is from NUC’s Accreditation Results 1990 to 2025 publication (uploaded September 2026); the text of that PDF does not label its columns clearly, so I report the latest status and the date printed beside it. The 150 national minimum, the 31 October 2026 deadline for public universities and JAMB’s position on admissions outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria (11 May 2026). The acceptance fee was not published in any source I reached. Checked on 3 November 2026; this page will be updated when ADSU publishes its 2027/2028 cut-off list.
