The Lux Mundi University International Relations cut-off mark for 2027/2028 is best taken as 150, JAMB’s national minimum for universities. Lux Mundi has not published a departmental figure for International Relations and Diplomacy or a general cut-off of its own. I would aim for 170 or more, and I would check the UTME subjects carefully, because JAMB’s combination for this course is different from the one most blogs give.
2027/2028 update: Lux Mundi University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They are based on JAMB’s 2026 national minimum, because Lux Mundi has not published its own course cut-offs. If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Lux Mundi is the private university in Umuahia that took off in 2024. Below is what is official, what comes only from listing sites, a safe target score (my advice), JAMB’s subject rules, Direct Entry, a worked screening example, the CAPS steps and what is known about fees.
Lux Mundi University International Relations and Diplomacy cut-off mark at a glance
| Item | Position for 2027/2028 planning | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum UTME score | 150 | Official: JAMB national minimum for universities (policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| Lux Mundi departmental cut-off for International Relations and Diplomacy | Not published | No figure on any official page I could reach |
| My safe target score | 170 or more | Advice, not a Lux Mundi rule |
| UTME subjects (JAMB brochure) | Use of English, Economics, Literature in English and Geography, Government or History | Myschool reprint of the JAMB brochure |
| O’level | Five credits incl. English, Government or History and three relevant subjects; get Mathematics too | JAMB brochure; sittings not stated by Lux Mundi |
| Degree and length | B.Sc. International Relations and Diplomacy, normally 4 years | Aggregator listings; Lux Mundi has not stated it online |
| NUC accreditation | Not confirmed | No NUC result found for Lux Mundi programmes |

Cut-off history for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, reported by NAN, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 | Not declared | Lux Mundi’s own institutional figure | Lux Mundi does not appear in News Central’s full list of institution cut-offs from the 2026 policy meeting |
| 2025/2026 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Reported by Channels TV (8 July 2025) |
| 2024/2025 | 140 | UTME cut-off shown on Lux Mundi’s NUCIS listing | Directory listing, last modified 24 July 2024 |
| Undated | 150 per course, 160 in a page header | Varsity.ng course table | Unofficial and inconsistent |
International Relations candidates at Lux Mundi have had to meet JAMB’s university minimum: 140 in 2024, then 150 in 2025 and 2026. No Lux Mundi figure for the course exists in any source I found. Plan with 150 for 2027/2028.
Safe target score for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi (my advice)
Lux Mundi has never published a departmental cut-off, so there is no official number above 150 to aim at. The table is my reading as an admissions adviser for a young private university with a small intake.
| Your UTME score | My read for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible. |
| 150 to 169 | Eligible. Realistic if your subjects match the brochure exactly. |
| 170 to 199 | Comfortable at a new private university. |
| 200 and above | Strong, and useful if you also apply for diplomacy courses elsewhere. |
I would aim for 170 or more. International Relations is popular with arts and social science students, and a clear margin above 150 helps if Lux Mundi ranks applicants after screening.
UTME subject combination and O’level for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi
Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s university brochure has two International Relations and Diplomacy entries. The one that loaded, under Social and Management Sciences, gives the requirements below; its only special remarks are for ABUAD. Check the second entry on the official JAMB e-brochure when you register.
| Requirement | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) | What I would register |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Economics, Literature in English and Geography, Government or History | English, Economics, Literature in English and Government |
| O’level | Five credits to include English Language, Government or History and three relevant subjects | English, Mathematics, Government, Economics and Literature |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in social science subjects from Government/History, Economics, Sociology and Business Management | Government plus Economics |
| Sittings | Not stated | One sitting is safest |
Many blogs give the UTME combination as English, Government or History and two other arts or social science subjects. The brochure entry is more specific: Economics and Literature in English are both named, with Geography, Government or History as the third subject. If you sit the 2027 UTME with Government, CRS and History, you may not match it.
The O’level line does not name Mathematics, but most Nigerian universities still require a Mathematics credit for social science degrees. Get the credit so it never becomes the reason an admission fails.
Direct Entry into International Relations and Diplomacy
JAMB’s brochure accepts two A-level passes in social science subjects chosen from Government or History, Economics, Sociology and Business Management. Lux Mundi has not said whether it accepts ND, NCE or JUPEB results for this course, so ask before you register Direct Entry.
Direct Entry students normally join at 200 level, and the O’level requirement still applies.
Does Lux Mundi University run International Relations and Diplomacy?
As far as public records go, yes, but the confirmation is weaker than I would like. nextschool.ng’s Lux Mundi profile (modified 5 April 2025) and Varsity.ng’s 2026 course table both list International Relations and Diplomacy as a B.Sc., placed by Varsity.ng under Management and Social Sciences. universitycourses.ng (updated 24 February 2026) has it in a 12-course Lux Mundi list as well. NUC’s institution directory (NUCIS) lists Lux Mundi as a private, degree-awarding university with 16 courses, without naming them.
What I could not confirm is an official Lux Mundi course list. The university website loads no readable text, and I could not reach the Myschool reprint of JAMB’s course list for Lux Mundi. That matters because JAMB will only process your admission for a course that is on Lux Mundi’s approved list in the JAMB brochure.
JAMB’s brochure has several close titles: International Relations, International Relations and Diplomacy, International Studies and Diplomacy, and International Relations and Diplomatic Studies. When you register, choose Lux Mundi University and pick the exact title shown under it. If none appears, call the university before you pay.
How Lux Mundi screens International Relations and Diplomacy applicants
Lux Mundi has not published a screening format, date, form price or aggregate formula in any source I could reach. Varsity.ng says post-UTME performance also counts, without naming a source. The safest plan is to expect some form of screening, whether an aptitude test, an interview or a check of documents, and to be ready for any of them.
Worked example (illustrative)
Lux Mundi has no published formula, so the split below is mine. Many Nigerian universities give the UTME and their own test equal weight, and I use that 50:50 split only to show how the numbers interact.
- Candidate: Adaeze scored 203 in the UTME with English, Economics, Literature in English and Government. She has B2 in English, C4 in Mathematics, B3 in Government, C5 in Economics and B3 in Literature from one WAEC sitting.
- Eligibility: 203 minus 150 = 53 marks above the minimum, and her UTME subjects match the brochure.
- UTME half (illustration): 203 divided by 400, times 50 = 25.375.
- Screening half (illustration): 60% at screening gives 30.
- Illustrative total: 25.375 + 30 = 55.4 out of 100 (rounded).
Compare Kelechi, who scored 210 with English, Government, CRS and History. His score is higher, but his combination leaves out Economics and Literature, so under the brochure line he may not qualify for this course at all.
Your chances of admission into International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi
Lux Mundi took off in January 2024 at its temporary site in New Ndagbo City, Isiama Afaraukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, with faculties of Management Sciences, Law and Arts/Social Sciences, according to ThisDay. NUC has paired it with Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, as its mentor university. A university this new does not draw the crowds that ABSU or MOUAU see, so a candidate with 150 or more, the right subjects and a complete O’level has a realistic chance.
The biggest risk for International Relations applicants is the subject combination, as the example shows. Read the e-brochure entry for Lux Mundi when you register, and if your UTME subjects do not fit, consider Political Science or Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, which Lux Mundi is also listed as offering.
Timing matters too. JAMB set 30 November 2026 as the 2026/2027 admission deadline for private universities. If you want Lux Mundi in a later cycle, have your O’level uploaded and your CAPS profile in order well before the deadline JAMB sets for that year.
How to apply for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME with Lux Mundi as your choice: pick Lux Mundi University and International Relations and Diplomacy on the JAMB registration screen, using English, Economics, Literature in English and Government. First choice is the cleanest route; if you chose another school, you will need a JAMB change of institution before Lux Mundi can admit you.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. JAMB cannot approve an admission without it.
- Contact Lux Mundi for its application form: Varsity.ng links to an admission portal at portal.luxmundiuniversity.edu.ng. I could not open the official site to confirm it, so check the address with the university at its Umuahia campus before you pay for anything.
- Attend the screening: bring your JAMB result slip, O’level result, birth certificate and passport photographs, the usual set for Nigerian screening, and ask the admissions office what else it wants.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and register: pay only through the university’s official channel, collect a receipt, complete clearance and print your JAMB admission letter.
Warning
JAMB said in May 2026 that any admission done outside CAPS is illegal. A genuine Lux Mundi offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page. In October 2026 free-advert sites carried posts selling Lux Mundi “post-UTME forms” through private phone numbers, and I found no Lux Mundi notice behind them. Never pay into a personal account for a form or a place.
Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each admission status and how to accept.
Lux Mundi International Relations and Diplomacy school fees
Lux Mundi has not published a fee schedule I could open. The only figures from the university side come from its founder, Prof. Gabriel Okenwa, at the take-off ceremony in January 2024, as reported by WAWA News Global.
| Item | Amount | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| Average fee per session | ₦400,000 | Founder’s statement at take-off (reported January 2024) |
| Law per session | ₦600,000 | Founder’s statement at take-off (reported January 2024) |
| International Relations and Diplomacy fee for 2026/2027 or 2027/2028 | Not published | Ask the bursary |
Those figures are from January 2024. Ask the bursary for the current International Relations and Diplomacy fee and what it covers. Ignore blog fee tables that list Lux Mundi courses it is not known to run.
Studying International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi University
International Relations and Diplomacy is one of the social science courses Lux Mundi is listed as offering, alongside Political Science, Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution and Public Administration. ThisDay reported a Faculty of Arts/Social Sciences at take-off, while Varsity.ng lists the course under Management and Social Sciences, so confirm the faculty with the university. No course outline has been published; the list below reflects typical Nigerian programmes.
What you study
- Early years: introduction to international relations, political science, Nigerian government, economics, history and logic.
- Middle years: foreign policy analysis, international law, international organisations, diplomacy and diplomatic practice, and African politics.
- Applied areas: conflict and security studies, international political economy and negotiation.
- Final year: contemporary global issues, research methods and a project.
Duration and accreditation
A B.Sc. in International Relations and Diplomacy normally takes four years from UTME entry, and Varsity.ng gives four years for Lux Mundi.
I found no NUC accreditation result for International Relations and Diplomacy at Lux Mundi. NUC’s 1990 to 2025 accreditation results publication could not be read as far as the universities starting with L, and a search of NUC’s programme reports returned nothing for Lux Mundi. That is expected for a university that took off in 2024: NUC usually visits a new programme for accreditation as the pioneer set approaches its final year. Until a result appears, treat accreditation as not confirmed and ask the university which NUC approval covers the programme.

Mistakes that cost International Relations and Diplomacy applicants a Lux Mundi place
- Sitting the UTME without Economics and Literature in English: the brochure entry names both.
- No Mathematics credit: not named in the brochure line, but required by most universities.
- Registering a different International Relations title: check the exact title under Lux Mundi.
- O’level not on CAPS: JAMB cannot approve the admission.
- Missing the four-week CAPS acceptance window.
- Paying an agent: admission outside CAPS is illegal.

Sources and updates
The national minimum of 150, the 30 November 2026 deadline for private universities, the four-week CAPS acceptance window and the warning on admissions outside CAPS come from the News Agency of Nigeria report of JAMB’s policy meeting (11 May 2026). News Central’s full list of institution cut-offs from the same meeting was checked and does not include Lux Mundi. The 2025/2026 minimum of 150 is from Channels TV (8 July 2025). The 140 figure and the 16-course count are from Lux Mundi’s NUCIS listing (last modified 24 July 2024). The subject and Direct Entry requirements are from Myschool’s reprint of the JAMB university brochure entry for International Relations and Diplomacy (Social and Management Sciences); a second entry on Myschool did not load. The take-off date, campus, faculties and provisional licence come from ThisDay (18 January 2024); the operating licence and the Godfrey Okoye University mentorship come from The Guardian (5 October 2024) and Godfrey Okoye University’s own news page. The 2024 fee figures are the founder’s words as reported by WAWA News Global. The course listings come from nextschool.ng’s Lux Mundi profile (modified 5 April 2025), Varsity.ng’s 2026 course table and universitycourses.ng (updated 24 February 2026); none is an official Lux Mundi source. The form-selling adverts were on free-advert sites in October 2026. The Lux Mundi website did not load readable content when I checked on 29 October 2026. I will update this page when Lux Mundi publishes its 2027/2028 admission notice or a course list I can verify.
