Ibom Metropolitan Poly Business Administration and Management Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut off mark for Business Administration and Management is JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100; no departmental figure is published. See the safe target score, UTME subjects, O’level rules, NBTE status, screening and CAPS steps.

The Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut off mark for Business Administration and Management is 100 in the UTME, which is JAMB’s national minimum for polytechnics in 2026/2027. Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic has not published a separate cut-off for ND Business Administration and Management, and I found no departmental figure for any year. The school’s website gives no admission details, so the JAMB floor is the figure to work with.

2027/2028 update: Ibom Metropolitan Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic is a private polytechnic founded in 2014 by Dr Victor E. U. Utong. JAMB’s list places it at Atan Offot, Uyo, and the school describes its site as behind the State Secretariat in Uyo, while NBTE’s 2025 Directory heads its entry “Oruk-Anam”. NBTE’s 2025 Directory lists ND Business Administration and Management at the school (accredited (first granted 2023; 2025 accreditation, expires 1 October 2030)), but the course is not on the reprint of JAMB’s course list for Ibom Metropolitan that I checked, so you must confirm it on JAMB CAPS before you choose it.

Because Business Administration and Management is missing from the JAMB list reprint, check during UTME registration that you can pick it under Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic. If it does not appear, the school cannot admit you into it through CAPS, and you should choose a listed course or another polytechnic.

JAMB kept the polytechnic floor at 100 for two years running, and Ibom Metropolitan has not announced a higher figure for any course. A polytechnic may set a higher mark for itself or for a busy course, so treat 100 as the legal minimum and aim higher if you can.

Safe target score (my advice)

For 2027 I would aim for 115 or more in the UTME for Business Administration and Management at Ibom Metropolitan Poly. That is my own target, based on how small private polytechnics in Akwa Ibom usually fill their classes; the school publishes no merit list or applicant numbers. If you land between 100 and 115 you can still apply, and your O’level grades and screening will carry more weight.

Ibom Metropolitan Poly Business Administration and Management subject combination and O’level requirements

RequirementND Business Administration and Management
UTME subjectsUse of English, Mathematics and any two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics
My suggested UTME combinationEnglish, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce
O’level (WAEC, NECO or NABTEB)Five credits including English Language (not Literature) and Mathematics, plus three from Economics or Commerce, Business Methods, Principles of Accounts, Geography, Government, Biology or Agricultural Science and the other subjects on the brochure list
SittingsTwo sittings at most under the standard NBTE rule; the school has not published its own
Ibom Metropolitan Poly remark in the brochureNone found; the base rule applies
Interview or practicalNone published

Mathematics is compulsory in the UTME, which surprises some arts students who choose a business course. The other two come from Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics. Economics and Commerce are the natural pair, since management, marketing and business economics build on both.

At O’level you need credits in English Language and Mathematics plus three relevant subjects. Economics, Commerce and Principles of Accounts are the strongest three, but Government, Geography and Biology or Agricultural Science are also accepted on the brochure list.

Direct Entry and HND

ND entry is through the UTME; there is no Direct Entry route into ND1. After the ND and industrial attachment you can apply for HND Business Administration and Management, or move into a related degree through direct entry where a university accepts ND holders. NBTE lists HND Business Administration and Management at the school on interim approval to 1 October 2027.

Ibom Metropolitan Poly screening and how selection works

Ibom Metropolitan has not published a 2026/2027 screening notice, form price or test format that I could find, and its website carries no admission page. Private polytechnics of its size usually sell forms at the admissions office or on a portal, check documents, and may hold a short test or interview. Ask the office these questions:

  • Is ND Business Administration and Management admitting full-time students for 2027/2028, and is it listed for the school on JAMB CAPS?
  • What is the current NBTE accreditation status of the course?
  • How much is the form, where do I pay, and what is the closing date?
  • Is there a written test, and on which subjects?
  • What are the acceptance fee and first-year fees, and is there a hostel?

Worked example (illustrative)

Take Ekemini, who wants Business Administration and Management at Ibom Metropolitan Poly. Ekemini scored 119 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, and has English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, Government and Civic Education over two NECO and WAEC sittings.

  1. JAMB minimum: 119 is 19 above 100, so Ekemini is eligible.
  2. My safe target: 119 clears my 115 line for Business Administration and Management.
  3. UTME subjects: Economics and Commerce are both on the list, with Mathematics fixed.
  4. O’level: English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government make the five credits. Two sittings is the usual maximum.
  5. School listing: before paying for anything, Ekemini checks that Ibom Metropolitan Poly shows Business Administration and Management on the JAMB portal.

If the school used a 50:50 aggregate, 119 divided by 8 gives 14.88 out of 50, and 30 out of 50 at screening would bring the total to 44.88. That formula is only an illustration. Ibom Metropolitan Poly has not published one, and small private polytechnics often admit every candidate who meets the rules.

How to apply for Business Administration and Management at Ibom Metropolitan Poly, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: text NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register the UTME with the right subjects: use English, Mathematics, Economics and Commerce, and choose Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic, Atan Offot as your polytechnic. If you chose another school, do a JAMB change of institution before screening.
  3. Upload your O’level result to CAPS: go to an accredited JAMB CBT centre once your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. CAPS cannot offer you admission without it.
  4. Contact the school: visit Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic in Uyo or use the contacts on its website, confirm the course is admitting, and buy the form only from the school. Keep every receipt.
  5. Attend screening: take your UTME result slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
  6. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer. Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status.
  7. Pay acceptance and register: get the amounts in writing from the bursary, pay only through the channel the school names, and complete medical and departmental registration.

Warning

Ibom Metropolitan Polytechnic is a different school from Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua. Check the name on your JAMB registration, buy forms only from the school, and remember that JAMB treats any admission outside CAPS as illegal.

Your chances and my advice

  • Your first job is confirming that Business Administration and Management shows under the school on the JAMB portal. Without that, nothing else on this page helps.
  • NBTE accreditation runs to 1 October 2030, which covers a two-year ND that starts in 2027/2028.
  • The school advertises a City and Guilds affiliation under the slogan “One Polytechnic, Two Qualifications”. Ask what the extra certificate costs and whether it is optional.
  • Living in Uyo costs more than in smaller towns, so price rent and transport into your plan if you are not from the city.
  • JAMB told polytechnics to finish 2026/2027 admissions by 31 December 2026, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.
