Valley View Poly Admission Requirements 2027/2028: Courses and Cut-Off Mark

Valley View Polytechnic, Ohafia takes ND candidates with JAMB’s polytechnic minimum of 100. See its five courses on JAMB’s list, UTME and O’level rules, NBTE status and the CAPS steps for 2027/2028.

To meet Valley View Polytechnic admission requirements for 2027/2028, you need at least 100 in the UTME (JAMB’s minimum for polytechnics), the UTME subjects JAMB sets for your course, and five O’level credits that include Mathematics and, for most courses, English Language. Valley View Polytechnic in Ohafia, Abia State, has never published a cut-off of its own that I could find. On JAMB’s list it has five National Diploma courses: Accountancy, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology and Statistics.

2027/2028 update: Valley View Poly cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

This is the Nigerian private polytechnic in Ohafia, not Valley View University in Ghana. NBTE’s 2020 Directory of Accredited Programmes gives its address as Off Goodluck Jonathan Army Barrack, Ebem, P.O. Box 176, Ohafia, and records 2015 as the year the government approved it. It has no official website or 2026/2027 admission notice that I could reach, so everything below comes from JAMB, NBTE and the brochure, with clear labels where I am giving advice.

Valley View Polytechnic admission requirements: quick summary

  1. Institution: Valley View Polytechnic, Ebem, Ohafia, Abia State (private; approved by government in 2015, per NBTE).
  2. Level: National Diploma (ND), entered through the UTME and JAMB CAPS.
  3. Minimum UTME score: 100 for 2026/2027, JAMB’s national polytechnic minimum.
  4. School cut-off: none published for any course or year.
  5. Courses on JAMB’s list: Accountancy, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, Statistics.
  6. Form, screening and fees: not published; ask the school.
  7. JAMB’s 2026/2027 polytechnic admission deadline: 31 December 2026.

Myschool’s reprint of JAMB’s course list shows the school as Valley View Polytechnic, without a location. The same five courses appear for Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, also in Ohafia, and they match five of Covenant Polytechnic’s courses in Aba. A matching list is not proof of anything, but it is reason enough to check your course under Valley View on JAMB’s own portal and with the school before you register.

Some blogs run pages titled with a Valley View post-UTME result or HND admission list. I could not tie any of them to an official notice, so I have not used them here.

The score I would aim for (my advice)

Your UTME scoreWhat it means at Valley View, in my view
Below 100Not eligible for ND admission through JAMB
100 to 119Eligible; fine for Accountancy or Statistics if your O’level is complete
120 to 129Comfortable for every course on the list
130 and aboveStrong, including Computer Science and Computer Engineering

These bands are my judgement only. Valley View publishes no merit list or applicant numbers, and a small private polytechnic may admit every candidate who meets JAMB’s rules.

Valley View Polytechnic courses and their requirements

I checked the JAMB polytechnic brochure pages, as reprinted by Myschool, for four of the five courses. No remark on any of them names Valley View, so the general rule applies. Use of English is compulsory in every UTME and is not repeated in the brochure lines below.

ND Accountancy

  • UTME: Mathematics and two of Geography, Commerce, Government, Principles of Accounts and Economics.
  • O’level: five credits including English Language (Literature does not count) and Mathematics, plus three from a business and general list that includes Economics or Commerce, Principles of Accounts, Business Methods, Government, Geography and Office Practice.

ND Computer Engineering

  • UTME: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  • O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry plus two of Biology or Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing, Basic Electronics or Electricity, Further Mathematics, English Language, Geography and a few trade subjects. The page adds that an English Language credit is required.

ND Computer Science

  • UTME: Mathematics and any two of Geography, Physics, Economics or Chemistry.
  • O’level: Mathematics, a basic science and three others; credits in English Language and Physics are compulsory.

ND Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology

  • UTME: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Biology is accepted only by IMT Enugu, by remark.
  • O’level: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry plus two from the same technical list as Computer Engineering. English is on the optional list here, but I would still have a credit in it.

ND Statistics

Myschool’s brochure pages for Statistics load empty, so I cannot quote JAMB’s line. Two federal polytechnics give a fair guide: Offa takes Mathematics plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics or Commerce, Geography, Computer Studies, Government and Biology or Agricultural Science, while Nekede takes Mathematics plus two of Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Biology or Agricultural Science and Geography. For O’level, Offa asks for English, Mathematics, at least one science and two others. Mathematics, Economics and Physics in the UTME satisfy both schools; confirm the JAMB line on the e-brochure before you register.

Direct Entry and HND

There is no Direct Entry into the ND; the brochure’s Direct Entry sections are blank. The standard NBTE route to an HND is an ND at Lower Credit or above plus a year of industrial training, with the application made to the polytechnic, not through the UTME. Valley View has not confirmed any HND course, so treat blog pages about its HND list with care.

Valley View Polytechnic screening and what to ask

There is no published screening notice, form price or date. When you visit or call the admissions office in Ohafia, get answers to these:

  • Which of the five courses are taking students for 2027/2028?
  • What is the NBTE accreditation status of my course?
  • What does the form cost, and is there a test or interview?
  • What are the acceptance fee, tuition and any hostel charges, in writing?

Worked example (illustrative)

Ngozi wants Accountancy. She scored 112 in English, Mathematics, Economics and Principles of Accounts. Her WAEC has credits in English, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce and Government, and a pass in Biology.

  1. JAMB minimum: 112 is above 100, so she can be offered admission.
  2. UTME subjects: Economics and Principles of Accounts are both on the list of options with Mathematics.
  3. O’level: English and Mathematics plus Economics, Commerce and Government make five credits. The Biology pass does not count, and she does not need it.
  4. My read: in the eligible band for Accountancy; her chance depends on the course running and her screening.

Some polytechnics combine UTME and screening into an aggregate. On a 50:50 split, 112 divided by 8 gives 14 out of 50, and 32 out of 50 at screening would make 46. That is an example only, as Valley View has published no formula.

How to get admission into Valley View Polytechnic

  1. Create your JAMB profile: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN by SMS to 55019 or 66019 from the phone number linked to your NIN, and keep the profile code.
  2. Register the UTME: pick your course with the subjects above and choose Valley View Polytechnic. To switch to it later, use JAMB change of institution.
  3. Put your O’level on CAPS: an accredited JAMB CBT centre uploads it once your result is released. Without it, CAPS cannot offer you a place.
  4. Visit the school: go to the campus at Ebem, Ohafia, confirm the course, buy the form there and keep receipts.
  5. Screening: bring your UTME slip, O’level result, birth certificate or age declaration, local government identification and passport photographs.
  6. Accept on CAPS: at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, go to Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept. Our JAMB CAPS guide covers every status you may see.
  7. Acceptance and registration: pay the acceptance fee the bursary gives you in writing, then finish medical and departmental registration.

Warning

Valley View Polytechnic has no official website I could find. Do not pay anyone online for its forms or for a guaranteed place. Every genuine offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page, and JAMB treats admission outside CAPS as illegal.

Should you choose Valley View? My honest take

  • Good fit if: you live in or near Ohafia, you meet the subject rules, and the school confirms your course is running and NBTE accredited.
  • Think twice if: you have a high score and want a wider course choice; the state polytechnic in Aba lists far more courses.
  • Do not go ahead if: the school cannot show NBTE accreditation for your course, because an ND from an unaccredited programme can be rejected when you apply for an HND.
  • Timing: JAMB set 31 December 2026 as the end of 2026/2027 polytechnic admissions, so current candidates should keep checking CAPS until then.

What each ND leads to

Each ND normally runs for two years full-time with a SIWES placement, under NBTE’s standard pattern; Valley View has not published its own course outlines. Accountancy leads to bookkeeping and accounts assistant roles and on to professional exams such as ATS or ICAN later. Computer Science and Computer Engineering lead to IT support, hardware and network work, and junior programming. Electrical/Electronics leads to installation, maintenance and solar work. Statistics leads to data collection and research assistant roles. All five can lead on to an HND or a university degree through the next school’s own entry rules.
