The Clifford University Information Systems cut-off mark 2027/2028 candidates should plan with is 150 in the UTME. That is the JAMB cut-off Clifford’s 2026/2027 admission notice gives for all its courses, and it equals JAMB’s national minimum for universities. Clifford has published no separate figure for Information Systems.
2027/2028 update: Clifford University cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.
Clifford’s own pages spell the course “Information System”, while JAMB lists it as “Information Systems”; both refer to the same B.Sc. programme. Its entry rules are identical to Cyber Security and Information Technology at Clifford, including a Chemistry requirement in the UTME that JAMB’s brochure does not impose. Below you will find the official figures, a safe target score, Direct Entry, screening, fees and how the course differs from Computer Science.

Cut-off history for Information Systems at Clifford
| Session | Figure | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026/2027 | 150 | Clifford’s own stated JAMB cut-off (all courses, including Information Systems) | Official (Clifford homepage admission notice) |
| 2026/2027 | 150 | JAMB national minimum for universities | Official (JAMB policy meeting, 11 May 2026) |
| 2026/2027 (as labelled by a blog) | 130 | Score at which candidates who did not pick Clifford first were invited to screen | Unofficial (O3schools, posted 31 October 2025, before the 2026 UTME) |
| 2022/2023 | 130 | Minimum to apply for the Post-UTME screening, including non-first-choice candidates | Reported by Myschool (30 June 2022) |
| Any year | Not published | A departmental cut-off for Information Systems | Clifford has never published one in any source I reached |
No Information Systems cut-off has ever been published by Clifford. The single university-wide figure moved from 130 in 2022 reports to 150 in 2026/2027, and 150 is the floor for 2027/2028 planning.
Safe target score for Information Systems at Clifford (my advice)
Clifford publishes one cut-off for every course, so there is no official departmental figure to quote. The table below is my judgement as an admissions adviser, not a Clifford rule.
| Your UTME score | My read for Information Systems at Clifford |
|---|---|
| Below 150 | Not eligible. Clifford’s cut-off and JAMB’s university minimum are both 150. |
| 150 to 164 | Eligible. Admission is realistic if your subjects and O’level match Clifford’s list and you screen well. |
| 165 to 179 | A comfortable position for a newer programme at a small private university. |
| 180 and above | Strong. This is the range I would aim for. |
Information Systems usually draws fewer applicants than Computer Science, though Clifford publishes no numbers to prove it either way. For the 2027 UTME I would aim for at least 170, and 180 or more if you want a cushion. A clean O’level matters as much as the score.
UTME subject combination and O’level for Clifford Information Systems
| Requirement | JAMB brochure (Myschool reprint) | Clifford’s own page |
|---|---|---|
| UTME subjects | Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography | English Language, Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics |
| O’level | Five credits including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and two other science subjects | Five credits in English Language, Mathematics, Physics and any two other relevant science subjects, in not more than two sittings |
| Direct Entry | Two A-level passes in science subjects including Mathematics, or NCE at merit in Mathematics and one other science or social science subject | Two A-level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics; candidates must also meet the O’level requirement |
| Clifford-specific remark | None naming Clifford, CLU or CU (remarks name FUTA, AUN, AL-HIKMAH and CALEB) | Not applicable |
This is the one place where Clifford is stricter than JAMB. The brochure lets you pick Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography as the fourth subject for Information Systems, but Clifford’s page names Chemistry only. Register English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and you satisfy both lists. If you have already registered with Biology or Economics, call the admissions office before the screening and ask whether they will accept it; do not assume.
Clifford’s O’level list for Information Systems matches JAMB’s main entry: English, Mathematics, Physics and two other relevant sciences, from not more than two sittings. I would make Chemistry one of the two, since it is already in your UTME.
The brochure’s special remarks for Information Systems mention only FUTA, AUN, AL-HIKMAH and CALEB. None names Clifford.
Direct Entry into Information Systems
Clifford wants two A-level passes from Chemistry, Mathematics or Physics, together with the O’level requirement. Its page does not list NCE, ND or HND for Information Systems.
JAMB’s brochure has a second Direct Entry line, an NCE at merit in Mathematics and one other science or social science subject. Clifford does not repeat it, so get confirmation in writing before applying on an NCE.
Clifford’s transfer and Direct Entry page says Direct Entry students are admitted into 200 level and that all of them, except JUPEB candidates, sit a university screening test. You will also need your complete transcript or statement of result before admission is confirmed.
How Clifford screens Information Systems applicants
Clifford has not published the format, date or pass mark of its screening for the coming session. Three things are on record. Its requirements page asks Law applicants for successful performance in the CLU Post-UTME and admission screening, which tells you a screening exercise exists for UTME candidates. Myschool reported in June 2022 that candidates with 130 and above could apply, including those who had not chosen Clifford. And a blog post from October 2025 said the form was free and that an aptitude test would hold on a date to be announced. Clifford has confirmed neither the free form nor the test format.
Under the 2026 rules, that old 130 invitation level no longer helps you. Clifford’s own notice now gives 150 as its cut-off, the same as JAMB’s minimum for universities, and JAMB will not approve a university admission below it.
Worked example (illustrative)
Clifford has not published an aggregate formula. Many Nigerian universities weigh the UTME and their own test equally, so I use a 50:50 split below purely to show how the numbers interact. Your real ranking may be done differently.
- Candidate: Amarachi scored 176 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and has B3 in Mathematics, C4 in Physics, C4 in Chemistry, C5 in English and C6 in Biology from one sitting.
- Eligibility: 176 minus 150 = 26 marks above the cut-off. Her subjects match Clifford’s list.
- UTME half (illustration): 176 divided by 400, times 50 = 22.
- Screening half (illustration): a 60% screening score gives 30.
- Illustrative total: 22 + 30 = 52 out of 100.
Her screening result lifted her total more than her UTME did. With a modest score, preparing properly for the screening is the best use of your time between the UTME and admission.
Your chances of admission into Information Systems at Clifford
Clifford has been running since March 2017 and reported about 1,500 students at its 2024 convocation. A candidate above 150 with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and a complete O’level has a fair chance at a university of that size.
What I would check before accepting is the programme’s accreditation, which I could not confirm, and whether its content fits your goals. If you want to build software, Computer Science is the safer pick at Clifford; if you see yourself between the IT team and management, Information Systems fits better.
Information Systems, Information Technology or Computer Science?
All three are computing degrees in Clifford’s Faculty of Science, but they lean in different directions. The table compares them on what Clifford and the NUC have published.
| Point | Information Systems | Information Technology | Computer Science |
|---|---|---|---|
| Main focus | Using computer systems to run organisations: analysis, databases, business processes | Building and running networks, systems and user support | Theory, algorithms and software |
| UTME at Clifford | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry | English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry | English, Mathematics, Physics + one of five options |
| NUC accreditation | Not confirmed | Not confirmed | Full, 82% |
| 2026/2027 fee | ₦845,000 | Not listed | ₦845,000 |
How to apply for Information Systems at Clifford, step by step
- Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
- Register the UTME correctly: choose Information Systems with English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, and pick Clifford University as your institution. First choice is the cleanest route.
- Upload your O’level to CAPS: do this at a JAMB-accredited centre as soon as your WAEC, NECO or NABTEB result is out. Clifford accepts credits from not more than two sittings.
- Apply on the Clifford portal: the official homepage sends applicants to soap.clifforduni.edu.ng. The homepage does not state a form price, so read the fee on the portal itself before paying. Clifford’s homepage lists 08036970755 and 07034871571 for admission enquiries.
- Take part in the CLU screening: Clifford refers to its Post-UTME and admission screening exercises on its requirements page. Watch the portal and your email for the date and format.
- Accept the offer on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, choose Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS. JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks to accept or reject an offer.
- Pay acceptance and register: Clifford lists the acceptance fee as ₦150,000 for 2026/2027. Pay only through the university’s official payment channel, then complete clearance and print your JAMB admission letter.
Confirm before you pay
I could not confirm NUC accreditation for Clifford’s Information Systems programme, so ask the university for its current status before paying acceptance. JAMB also said in May 2026 that any admission done outside CAPS is illegal; a genuine offer shows on your JAMB CAPS page.
When your status changes on CAPS, our JAMB CAPS guide explains what each status means and how to accept.
Clifford University Information Systems school fees for 2026/2027
| Item (2026/2027) | Amount | Who pays |
|---|---|---|
| Programme fee, Faculty of Science | ₦845,000 | Every undergraduate in the listed science programmes |
| Acceptance fee | ₦150,000 | New students, after accepting the offer |
| Matriculation fee | ₦50,000 | 100 level only |
| Total of the three for a new 100 level student | ₦1,045,000 | My sum of the official figures |
| Payment plan | Full payment, or 60% first semester and 40% second semester | Stated on the fees page |
Clifford’s published fee schedule is headed “Approved school fees for 2026/2027 academic session”. It gives one amount per programme and does not break it into tuition, accommodation, laboratory or other charges, so ask the bursary what the ₦845,000 covers before you budget for a hostel, books, a laptop and feeding on top of it. Fees for 2027/2028 had not been published when I checked, and private university fees often rise from one session to the next.
Studying Information Systems at Clifford University
Information Systems sits in Clifford’s Faculty of Science with Computer Science, Cyber Security and Information Technology. Clifford’s fee schedule lists it as “Information System”.
What you study
- Foundation years: programming, mathematics for computing, introduction to information systems and principles of management.
- Middle years: systems analysis and design, database management, business process modelling, networks and web applications.
- Final years: enterprise systems, IT project management, data analytics, information security, research methods and a project.
- Industrial training: expect a SIWES placement, which is normal for computing degrees in Nigeria; ask the department for timing.
Duration and accreditation
UTME entrants normally spend four years on a B.Sc. in Nigeria, and Direct Entry students start at 200 level. Clifford’s page does not state the duration.
I found no NUC accreditation report for Clifford’s Information Systems programme, and it was not among the eight programmes Clifford announced as fully accredited in March 2023. Its accreditation status is therefore not confirmed. JAMB does list the course among Clifford’s approved courses, which is what allows admission through CAPS. Before you pay, ask Clifford for the programme’s current NUC status. By contrast, Clifford’s Computer Science holds full accreditation with an 82% score.
Careers after the degree
- Systems or business analyst in banks, telecoms and large firms
- Database administrator or data analyst
- IT project coordinator or ERP support specialist
- Postgraduate study in information systems, data science or management
Computing practice in Nigeria is regulated by the Computer Professionals Registration Council of Nigeria (CPN), which graduates can register with.

Mistakes that cost Information Systems applicants a Clifford place
- Biology, Economics or Geography instead of Chemistry in the UTME: JAMB allows them, but Clifford’s page names Chemistry.
- O’level from three sittings: Clifford accepts two at most.
- O’level not uploaded to CAPS: JAMB cannot approve the admission.
- Waiting too long to accept on CAPS: JAMB gave 2026 candidates four weeks.
- Searching for the wrong name: Clifford writes “Information System”, JAMB writes “Information Systems”; choose the JAMB name on your UTME form.
- Paying before checking accreditation: ask for the programme’s NUC status first.
