ABSCOHTECH Community Health Cut-Off Mark 2027/2028 and Admission Requirements

The official JAMB minimum for ND Community Health at ABSCOHTECH, Aba is 100 (2026/2027). Here is the UTME subject combination, O’level requirements, entrance exam, a worked example, a safe target score and the CAPS steps.

The JAMB minimum for ND Community Health at Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba (ABSCOHTECH) is 100, the national floor JAMB set for polytechnics and similar ND-awarding colleges for 2026/2027, the same as in 2025/2026. The college itself has not published a separate ABSCOHTECH cut off mark for Community Health in any notice I could find. So 100 is the official line, and I give a higher safe target further down as my own advice.

2027/2028 update: ABSCOHTECH cut-off marks usually stay the same from one year to the next, so the figures on this page are what 2027/2028 candidates should plan with. They come from the latest official notice (2026/2027). If the 2027/2028 notice changes anything, we will update this page.

Information on this college is thin. I found no official website, no admission portal and no 2025/2026 or 2026/2027 notice from the college. Its last advert I could trace was for 2023/2024. Sources also spell its short name three ways: ABSCOHTECH, ABSCOHSMT and ABSCOHMAT. Below I separate what is official from what is reported, and label my advice.

One caution. JAMB’s policy meeting sets bands by type of institution (universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and so on). Myschool lists ABSCOHTECH as a polytechnic-type institution and it awards ND and HND, so the polytechnic band of 100 is the one that fits. I could not find JAMB stating the college’s band by name. If the college publishes a higher figure, that figure wins.

Is UTME compulsory for Community Health at ABSCOHTECH?

Yes. In 2026 JAMB exempted education (NCE) programmes and agriculture non-engineering courses from the UTME. Health courses such as Community Health were not part of that exemption, so an ND Community Health applicant still writes the UTME and still needs at least the national minimum. One blog (MyEduvantage, May 2026) suggests JAMB is “not always compulsory” at this college. I found nothing official to support that, and every admission must appear on JAMB CAPS to be valid, so plan to write the UTME.

Safe target score for Community Health at ABSCOHTECH (my advice)

This table is my judgement as an admissions adviser. The college has not published how it ranks candidates or how many it admits.

Your UTME scoreMy read for ND Community Health at ABSCOHTECH
Below 100Below the national minimum. The college cannot admit you on this score; rewrite or consider an NCE route in a related field.
100 to 139Eligible on paper. Your entrance exam result and O’level grades will decide it.
140 to 159A reasonable position for an ND health course at a state college.
160 and aboveComfortable. This is what I would aim for, and it also keeps a university option open (the 2026 university minimum was 150).

UTME subject combination and O’level requirements for Community Health

Myschool’s reprint of JAMB's polytechnic brochure entry for Community Health is the closest thing to an official requirement I could find. ABSCOHTECH is not named in its institution remarks, so the general rule applies. ABSCOHTECH itself has not published a requirement list.

RequirementCommunity Health (JAMB polytechnic brochure, as reprinted)
UTME subjectsUse of English plus Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
O’level creditsFive credit passes including Mathematics and Biology or Health Science, plus three of Food and Nutrition, Chemistry, Physics, Religious Studies, Geography, Economics or a Nigerian language
English LanguageThe reprint asks for at least a pass. I would still get a credit, because most health colleges ask for one.
SittingsNot stated for this college; two sittings is the usual limit
Direct EntryJAMB Direct Entry is for degree courses. HND entry normally needs a relevant ND, usually with a lower credit and a year of industrial training (general NBTE practice; not confirmed for this college).

Two things in the brochure surprise many applicants. First, Biology is not in the UTME combination, even though it is an O’level requirement. Second, English needs only a pass on the brochure. Because the reprint may lag the current brochure, check the JAMB e-brochure before you register, and if your school results allow it, go in with credits in English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. That set satisfies every version I have seen.

MyEduvantage (May 2026) gives the college’s requirement as five credits including English, Mathematics and science subjects. It is a blog, but it agrees with that safer set.

ABSCOHTECH screening and entrance exam for Community Health

The college has historically sold its own admission form and run an entrance exam. Myschool reported the 2023/2024 form sale in July 2023, and its institution page lists a past news item announcing an entrance exam date (the year is not shown). I found no form fee, exam date or interview date for 2025/2026 or 2026/2027.

Worked example (illustrative)

ABSCOHTECH has not published an aggregate formula. Many state colleges combine the UTME score with their own exam, so here is one common way of doing it, used only to show how the two parts interact. It is not the college’s method.

Illustrative method: UTME score divided by 8 (out of 50) plus the entrance exam percentage halved (out of 50), giving a total out of 100.

CandidateUTMEUTME part (/50)Entrance examExam part (/50)Illustrative total
Ada18022.560%3052.5
Obinna13016.2578%3955.25
Uju11013.7545%22.536.25

Obinna’s lower UTME score is offset by a strong exam result, which is why you should prepare for the college’s test even with a good UTME score. Uju clears JAMB’s minimum of 100 but sits well behind the others, so she would need a better exam result to be safe.

Your chances of getting Community Health at ABSCOHTECH

The college has not published applicant numbers or quotas. Community Health is one of the courses most often listed for this college, both in the 2023 advert and on course lists said to come from the JAMB portal, so it appears to run every year. In my judgement, a UTME score of 160 or more, five clean credits in one sitting and a good entrance exam result put you in a strong position.

  • Make the college a deliberate choice: pick it on your JAMB registration, or move it there through change of institution before the college’s admission runs.
  • Get your science credits: Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry are the ones that most often trip applicants.
  • Watch for a late advert: the 2023/2024 form went on sale in July, so keep checking after your UTME result.
  • Expect the name to vary: look for ABSCOHTECH, ABSCOHSMT or ABSCOHMAT when you search for news.

How to apply for Community Health at ABSCOHTECH, step by step

  1. Get your JAMB profile code: send NIN, a space and your 11-digit NIN to 55019 or 66019 from the phone line linked to your NIN.
  2. Register for the UTME: choose Abia State College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba, and Community Health, with Use of English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, unless the e-brochure shows a different combination.
  3. Score at least 100: that is the 2026/2027 national minimum for ND. Aim higher if you can.
  4. Upload your O’level to CAPS: do it at a JAMB office or accredited centre. CAPS cannot match you to the course without it.
  5. Buy and fill the college’s form: no official portal was found, so buy only through a channel the college itself announces, and use the same names and results as on your JAMB profile.
  6. Sit the entrance exam or interview: bring your JAMB result slip, O’level results, birth certificate or declaration of age, and passport photographs.
  7. Accept on CAPS: log in at efacility.jamb.gov.ng, open Check Admission Status, then Access my CAPS, and accept the offer.
  8. Pay acceptance and register: the college has not published its acceptance or school fees. Pay only through the channel on the admission letter, then complete clearance.

Warning

No official website or portal for this college turned up in my checks. Be careful with anyone selling ABSCOHTECH forms or “admission lists” online. Confirm at the college in Aba, and remember that a genuine offer always shows on JAMB CAPS.

Our JAMB CAPS guide explains each status, and JAMB change of institution covers moving your choice to this college. If you have just written the exam, read how to check your JAMB result and what to do with the score. For revision, our JAMB Chemistry syllabus covers one of your three UTME subjects.

Studying Community Health at ABSCOHTECH

The college is a state-owned health and management college in Aba, Abia State. In June 2023 the Abia State Government appointed a substantive rector, according to Prime Business Africa, which called it the College of Health Sciences and Management Technology, Aba. Community Health is offered at ND and HND level, according to the 2023/2024 advert.

What you study

  • Primary health care and how community health services are organised in Nigeria
  • Basic anatomy, physiology and common diseases in the community
  • Maternal and child health, immunisation and family planning
  • Environmental sanitation, nutrition and health education
  • Community diagnosis, home visits and supervised field postings

Duration and accreditation

ND and HND courses normally run for two years each under NBTE rules, with industrial training between them. The college has not confirmed the length on any page I reached. I could not confirm NBTE accreditation for this course, or whether the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN), which registers community health workers, recognises the programme. Ask the college for both before you pay acceptance, because registration with CHPRBN is what lets you practise.

Careers

  • Community health worker at primary health care centres
  • Immunisation, maternal and child health and outreach programmes
  • Health education in schools, NGOs and local government health departments
  • Further study: HND Community Health, or a degree in Public Health or Community Health at a university

Mistakes that cost Community Health applicants a place

  • Writing the wrong UTME subjects: check the e-brochure; the reprint lists Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry, not Biology.
  • Missing a Mathematics or Biology credit: both are named O’level requirements.
  • Assuming the 2026 NCE exemption covers you: it covers education and agriculture non-engineering courses, not health ND.
  • Buying forms from unverified sellers: no official portal was found.
  • Accepting on CAPS and stopping there: acceptance fee and clearance at the college are separate steps.

ABSCOHTECH Community Health cut off mark: frequently asked questions
